- Scrap Wood Christmas Gifts Under 5 Dollars!. iPad Stands and Key Holders are the ideal Scrap Wood projects for a quick Christmas Gift idea. Cheap, simple and quick to make, yet still look awesome! These two projects only require limited tools, so you don’t need a shop full of tools to complete the projects.
The iPad Stand and the Key Holder are both made from the same sheet of Scrap Ply that l had lying around the house. The Key Holder would cost only a couple of dollars to make as would the iPad Stand.
If l was running a weekend market or stall, l reckon these would sell like hotcakes!! If you were serious, you could quite easily make twenty of the Keyholders a day which would sell for around $20.00 each. The iPad stand is slightly more time consuming, but you could sell it for more.

In the progress of making the iPad stand as a christmas gift now. Thought about making it from 12mm MDF, but I took out a 2nd mortgage on my house and bought a very small sheet of plywood instead. Wish me luck!

What a bargain, Professor Knucklehead! Not only do you give us two fantastic Christmas projects, but you also include a vocabulary lesson as well. I learned two new words. First, I learned a new verb, "Centralize" and I also learned a new noun, "Wriggle" room. (or is that an adjective?) It's obviously time to brush up on my high school grammar.

Nice ideas for quick projects. I see that you, like me, have contracted plywood madness syndrome. I love the look of exposed ply edges. I don't see those type of binders with the longer lever here in the states very much. I'll check the thrift stores.

That is really cool, the image really makes it. Tried it on laser printer, but it only works on black, and would love to do colour. :'(
Glad you liked it Leah. One way you can try with a laser printer is to lay the image face down on the wood and apply some acetone to the back of the image....let it soak in and then remove the paper. Good luck 👍😁

KNACKERS! Great projects as always, easy to build, don't need fancy tools and you used scrap wood. Thats the heavenly trifecta in my eyes. Where can i order that countersink tool from?
Mate....look up a company called Macsim and the tool is called the Clever Tool. It comes in 8 Gauge and 10 Gauge. For most of my screws l use the 10 Gauge. If you live in Australia you can buy them from Bunnings. Good luck 👍😁🇦🇺🎄
Do yo have a link for the label paper that you used please?
Hi Craig. No l don't mate. Just go down to your local newsagent or stationary store and purchase a few A4 Sheets of label paper which is just the paper that comes with labels that you peel off and stick to things like envelopes. Peel all the labels off and dispose of them. What you will be left with is a shiny surface on the paper where the labels once were. Because one side of the paper is now shiny, this is the side that you print on as the ink won't absorb into the paper. Place the paper in the printer with the shiny side facing down and make sure you reverse the print. This will only work with an Inkjet Printer. It won't work with a Laser Jet Printer. Hope that makes sense and good luck 👍😁🎄🎄🎄

Awesome! Glad to have you on board Leisa 👍 The paper is just plain old label paper...the brand isn't important. It's the paper you get that has labels that you can peel off which leaves behind a shiny surface that is perfect for the inkjet printer. Just make sure you have plenty of ink in the cartridges and that you reverse the image that is to be printed....good luck and l hope you and your family have a safe and Merry Christmas 👍😁🇦🇺🎄
