No easy answer but few factors have to go your way. 1. Height. You have to be pretty tall (preferably in the 6ft range) though there are a few exceptions ( I.T, Kay Felder, etc.) However, you must play ur position with what height u have. I know people who were 6’3 but b/c everyone on their team were shorter than them, they had to play a different position, unable to develop the skills for their height. 2. Talent. You must have some time of natural given ability, wether its athleticism, shooting, strength etc. 3. Train Everyday. Every american High school prospect put in work almost everyday, both in the weight room and on the court. Hiring a trainer is highly recommended. 4. Do well in school. Your chances may not be the best, so have an education as a backup option ready. Also, universities look at ur grades as well. So do well in school. 5. Visibility. Put out a mixtape on youtube. Play in-front of scouts. Anything to get your name out there. 6. Play for a rep team. Do this as early of your youth as possible. Your coaches will train you, and you will also get better playing with tougher competition. 7. Luck. You must be lucky in some sort of way. Ive dedicated more than half my to basketball. I lived on a schedule. I woke up at 6 AM, shot hoops in my driveway, got ready for school and got on my way. I played basketball at recess and when I got home I biked 4 miles to the local gym and played. I found a sanctuary in which I could conceal my fears and just slip away from the outside world. I practically lived for basketball. I shot until my arms were numb. I ran up and down the court dripping sweat and panting for breath. I came home at 9 - 10 pm every night, sometimes even forgetting to come home and ending up sneaking into my house at 12 AM after biking 4 miles in pitch black darkness. I became an exceptional ball handler and shooter over time, being able to easilyscore 5-10 points in pickup games to 15. When I arrived at middle school, I thought I was on top of the world. I scored 15-20 points a game against other middle school competitors, while still grinding it out until 10 PM at the gym. In middle school my team fell short of state level entry but nontheless I was still motivated to go to high school, get a scholarship and make my mom proud. Then I walked into highschool. Surrounding me were stocky, tall athletes with rather large biceps and notable calf muscles. This didnt really phase me until tryouts came. I was and still am an above average athlete. I have lots of stamina and was a track prodegy at my school. But this wasn't middle school. This was high school. These guys were benching 200 pounds at age 14. They could dunk effortlessly. Their defense was impossible to get by. They had huge wingspans and their overwhelming strength stopped me right in my tracks. The point of this huge sob story is that people are BORN with basketball in their genes. Some skip school, some play everyday since the day they were born. Who are "they"? Your competitors. The millions of other superior athletes who can dunk at the age of 14. The fact is that there is just too much of an advantage with athletisicm in basketball. You can accept that now or try to pursue your fantasy and waste your time. Its your choice, but good luck either way.
This video doesn't mean anything. Look the key is to work hard and it will happen. If its the nba or even if its a overseas league you basketball WORK ETHIC will take you somewhere sooner or later that will make you happy. Just keep working and stop worrying about all the nitty bitty factors. Play, work hard, and dream big is what my dad tells me all the time. 👌
NBADDICT Videos your abviously you'r too young to understand the hard truth of life that "hard work" isn't just enough and also chance and natural skill will factor into getting into nba
Im 13 years old from Croatia, I practice every day for about 3 hours I also go to the gym for about an hour. Im 173 cm and Im still growing about 7 cm in a year. My biggest dream since I was 8 years old was to play in the NBA and be an idol to kids in Croatia. Im really working hard and I hope one day it pays off because one of the biggest keys of succes in life is to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! I CAN DO IT AND SO DO YOU!!! 🔝🔝🏀🏀🏀
aspectu you gotta practice more than 3 hours a day to be in the nba, and I guarantee you won’t make it anyway. Not to be mean, I’m sure you’re a good player, but you gotta be superhuman to make the nba.
Dwade is 6'4, Russell Westbrook is actually 6'4 on his scouting report, Kyrie and is 6'1.5 inches. Curry is 6ft'2.5 inches. Dame Lillard is 6'0.25. Kevin Durant is 7ft.
im 14 and 6'1 but im not very fast, and i cant jump very high. i can shoot well, but I don't focus on that. I've been working on managing my stamina the most
I love basketball but kinda suck (couldn’t even make my A team as an 8th grader) but I really want to do something in the nba and I follow it so closely. If I can’t be a player i want to be a GM or a coach one day
To you must have at least a 50+ vert and be a god like at everything to get that’s so much hight you have to make up for and you can’t think playing any other position but pg but keep putting in the work
A lot of short guys have made the NBA but few have been as good as AI or Isaiah Thomas. You can probably make the league but if you're a star, you really are something special
Better to try your best and even if you don't make it you can end up in a good place. You could make it to college and get a degree for life or play overseas. Keep grinding
I make 2100 shots a day moving and set shooting. I do dribble drills I did at the 76ers camp for 1 hour and passing drills for 1 hour. If I can get games to play I throw away that day of training and play the game because I practice to play in games Sundays and Satudays: I do vertical training, I do strength training all around all day until the gym closes I start my training at 6 am and end at 8 pm Im trying to put on 240 lb Im 6'8 btw
im trying to get to the nba and Im working hard. my two tips are.. work hard - regularly practice and train with 100% effort. be patient - you can't be an nba player in 1 day, week or even a year. it takes years.
im 6,3 at 14 and i have ok speed and pretty decent ball handling. I ofc can get rebounds much better than the average 14-16 year old. i also play really good perimeter defence against pretty much all guards and exceptional paint defence. im very determined to make it to the nba and i believe i have a decent chance.
@@Saint40xSosah same bro I hope I get a growth spurt because I’ve been tall all my life but have been growing at a normal pace if you get what I mean. But I just dislocated my knee which really has set me back but I hope I see you in the nba 💯💯
I am 12 almost 13 in 3 months, I am 5'7 right now I am projected to be 6'3 and I weigh 115 pounds now, I have high level training programs from the best trainers in the world, my ball handling is becoming great and my shooting is become amazing I am getting new moves and developing a PG IQ I am improving on defense, working out every day, increasing my vertical, going to basketball camps and playing for teams like ymca, aau , and school team. I play football for my school and I am a starting corner back and WR I also maintain good grades. I used to hate basketball at the age of 9 but my dad quickly showed me what basketball is I started to watch game tape and create a goal to be an NBA player or even a G League player. I want to be a point guard if I learn how to play like one otherwise a shooting guard or small forward, I also rebound steal and block well, my passing needs to improve. I have a dream to have my own basketball court so I can train all day everyday, I have tons of basketball gadgets. I compare my self to collin sexton of the cavaliers, he is a great role model. Please let me know your take if I sound like someone to go to the NBA?
1.you have to practice and figure out what you doing wrong and right in order to get better. 2.you have to be patient you're not going to get better overnight. 3.being tall also help you making it to next level for example if you are 6-7 or taller. 4.easy to coach and being experience basketball will help you make it to the NBA.
@@mmcookies4944 yeah mate. But our path to the Nba were way to hard than them. BUT JUST BELIEVE. WHAT IF ONE OF US IS THE 1 IN A MILLION that is destined to be Nba player
I always had dreams to be in the NBA. I work hard, play smart. The only problem is I'm from Malaysia, I need to be an international prospect to be in the league
If y’all tryna make nba just work!!! First things first... you have to play on a good aau team that gives exposure like UAA ADIDAS EYBL AND NY2LA, next year I’m going to be a junior and I’m tryna play on a UAA team or NY2LA team. Also 7th and 8th grade year is key for a young athlete... those are the years of getting athletic... turning the 20 inch vertical to a 30 inch vertical and gaining some muscle, not lifting a lot. I didn’t do that because i thought i was a great athletic(i am) i didn’t work as hard when i should’ve... i was naturally good at basketball...start of 9th grade year i was pound for pound best player in the school but guess what? I wasn’t strong nor an EXPLOSIVE athlete.. i couldn’t bench a 45 pound bar bruh... but i kept on working and it’s paying off... early workouts 3 times a day. I’m making up the time i missed... at the same time my dad didn’t want me to lift early on because he wanted my body to develop which i agree on because he used to be a strength trainer... now it’s all what God wants me to do... imma keep working and it will pay off💯 don’t start to early yall!! Btw im 6’0 with a 32 inch vert... very explosive need the vert to be a 35-37 by end of summer and close to 40 my end of senior year... keep working yall💯 stay off social media
I want to make it the nba but I know it’s incredibly unlikely so I think it’d be more realistic for me to play somewhere else in like France or Spain or something.
Do I still have a chance to make it to the NBA? I'm 5'3 at 13 years old. I could shoot the ball beyond 3 point consistent, not much of a dribbler, OK for court vision, but not so good at defense. Also I don't think i can grow anymore than 6 inches because my dad is 5'11 and I'm Asian
I dont care about my height..Im very short,im 5,5 ft.2 years ago i was 4,5 ft.I am almost 15 now and i will still grow. But i dont care even dont grow anymore because Muggsy was 5,3,Earl Boykins was 5,5...If they could make it to NBA,why couldnt i :) i NEVER give up so i wont now either.I ignore my friends and family (99.9% of them) who laugh at me because i want to play basketball profesionally..Almost no one believes in me and it just motivates me...I know its very low chance for me to make it in NBA but it still ISNT impossible.Never give up ;)
Hey don't waste your time man. I'm telling you. Don't look at those few players and think why not me? That's exactly what gets millions of idiots to play the mega millions lottery or powerball lottery. The lottery chances for those are about 1 in 300 million basically. And some people get motivated when they see someone win it. What they don't realize is... YES...SOMEone may win it. But the chances of that someone being YOU are very, VERY slim... practically IMPOSSIBLE. I read about some lottery thing in an article where it said, "In a lottery in which you pick 6 numbers from a possible pool of 49 numbers, your chances of winning the jackpot (correctly choosing all 6 numbers drawn) are 1 in 13,983,816. That's 1 shot in almost 14 million. If you were to buy one lottery ticket each week in such a scenario, you could expect to win once every 269,000 years (269 THOUSAND years)." So... the idea is the same with basketball. Don't waste your time on it. Trust me. You will thank me or WHOEVER else says it to you when you become something else in life. OR you might not and think that "could've been you" (and the answer to that is No...MOST likely, and I mean that strongly...close to a guarantee..practically should guarantee it, it was never going to be you.)
@@lolhahah21 Imagine if the 1 in 300 million 5'3 and 5'4 guys had subscribed to what you are saying here? They would never have made it. For the record and before looking at my profile's pic, I am 5'8 lol so not bias at all If he has the talent to compensate for the lack of height by being exceptional in every area, then let him go for it.
Don’t give up guys this is how I made it to the NBA 1.hight I ate a lot of food and drank 10 glass of milk per day I sleep on 8:30 o clock 2.practice so I workout in the gym because when I need to dribble to avoid other players I do tricks so it’s a 99.99% of passing it not only that but I practice dribbling when I was 15 I’m 26 right now when I started doing big hoops I was 5”5 and I became very very very good at it 3 last but not least:passing & dunking I played with friends to practice passing when I was 6”3 I successfully became a pro how? I put the ball to X 0 and Y 0 and use all my might to pass it & dunking so I practice jumping in a gym someone teach me the direction of the ball to dunk it was X -27 Y 98 Lesson learned: you don’t have to be tall to be in the NBA u need skill High to was 7”2 when I got accepted to the NBA now I’m 7”6 :) NBA stats: dunk contest: 47 dunk contest won: 10 Rank: Average games:2078 wins: 2012 Weight: up to 214 lbs
I agreed with almost everything except when you said back to the basket skills are no longer necessary for big men. And btw brook lopez scores mainly in the low post
Brook Lopez scores mainly in the post, but one third of his field goal attempts come from beyond the arc... that's higher than many wing players and point guards. And in response to your first point, look at a list of the 30 starting centers in the NBA. By my count, no more than 15 attempt ANY post-ups on a regular basis. At least 15 play starting minutes without receiving significant post touches during games.

Left Nut how you definetly dent watch the games the only way Raymond gets assists is standing at the top of the key and can barely dribble and has ok courtvision
Scot, I think that Steph curry is the GOAT (as you say) at three pointers. On the other hand, Ray Allen should be given the crown of 'shooting'. Look at the stats, buzzers and rings. This is why Ray Allen should be the GOAT at shooting in NBA history! Like if you agree.
Bros Vlogs Curry shoots half courts and Banks it. That's why people call him the greatest shooter of all time. 80% of people probably think he is the greatest shooter, Ray Allen, has the most 3 pointers of all time. But, 50-50 percent of the people think that Ray or Stephen is the best 3 point shooter. So, I think that Ray Allen is the best 3 point shooter, even though Curry WILL be the best 3 point shooter at this pace, and Curry is the greatest shooter of all time.
Tyler Ulis is 5'9 and was only 150 pounds. Looks like he will have a way better career than Felder. He doesn't have a 40 vert and he still made it. But I do believe what you said about short guards can increase the chances of them getting into the NBA.

Neboder HZ r u still working hard now? :)
If you were to buy one lottery ticket each week in such a scenario, you could expect to win once every 269,000 years (269 THOUSAND years)."
So... the idea is the same with basketball.

3 last but not least:passing & dunking
I played with friends to practice passing when I was 6”3 I successfully became a pro how? I put the ball to X 0 and Y 0 and use all my might to pass it & dunking so I practice jumping in a gym someone teach me the direction of the ball to dunk it was X -27 Y 98
