  • Recently there is a group of female socialites in China who have an extremely luxurious life. Or at least they appear to. They wear different designer clothes every day, live in a variety of five-star hotels and enjoy luxurious afternoon tea. A blogger exposed their secrets after covertly joining this mysterious group.
China has the largest Internet celebrity population in the world. Many people want to be Internet celebrities as it is the only job that can get rich quickly and change the life of the grassroots in a short period of time. Is this a chance or a catastrophe for China?

@@chainofenkidu9451 Lmao, which country doesnt have a social credit system, and mass surveillance? There's something called credits in America where if you dont pay back your monthly payments of credit card bills they mark you as a bad credit citizen and you wont have the economical privileges that others have? Btw that social credit system only applied in a small community in one small city of China, Im sure you watched that youtube video talking about that socia system and now you think you know everything about China. The mass surveillance decreased crime rate to almost non existence in China, mean while in the big and advanced home of America, you still have hood gangs robbing you in day light, I live a NYC and I see a camera on top of every stop light of the intersection, however the difference between these Cameras and the ones in China is that these dont do anything and doesn't stop crime.

At the end you say “rather than working hard”... this is a fallacy in a capitalist society. Especially with a population as high as China. They can work to death and still not make it. The system isn’t built for the majority to thrive, so it makes sense why they would go to extreme levels to be validated. Great insight in this video though.

"Work hard" is a mentality that is no longer valid in this era. Maybe it would have been in the 80's or 90's where you'd get more money if you worked more hours, or you were rewarded with bonuses for doing more work. Nowadays it's "work smart" that gets the money. Also, I kind of dislike the fact that the speaker claims that you don't need to have a skill to become famous and I think that's not true because you still need to have an idea/concept and convey it in a way that makes it appealing/relatable to many people, maybe it's not an obvious skill such as a physical one (singing, playing an instrument, drawing...) but it's still a skill. Plus, you need to be consistent and put in quite a lot of effort to keep the audience with you for more than a couple of videos and once you're more famous, it's even more demanding. But I guess to the older generations, influencers will always be considered "the ones who got easy money for doing a couple of videos".

This is what has led to rampant pollution, consumerism (with labourers getting less and less wages), global warming etc. All that is not our problem, we just want to live our life to the fullest. I think this will be our downfall as a species. How laughable, for the (allegedly) most 'intelligent' species, that has built complex societies and amazing civilisations, to fall to something so foolish in the end.

It's actually quite brilliant. In China people still go to blind dates arranged by their parents and relatives. If someone with the right resources can actually arrange for such a meeting with rich and influential men, then ambitious girls should really take advantage of it. They even receive guidance every step of the way throughout the relationship until marriage happens. This is a very good deal.

"when young people aspire to get rich quicky how far can the country go?" The real question is WHY do young people want to get money 'quickly'? Is it because the country made it impossible to live a normal life without big amounts of money, and because there is no actually way to get rich by 'working hard'? The goverment should really think about it instead of blaming citizens for not having what they have

    • @randomplebian461

I partly agree with you but I am also inclined to believe that there would always be people willing to lie and scam others to get quick money in any era any rule.
When they target us plebs, we call them thieves and scammers and feel rather indignant. But instead of spending years studying and taking 4 lectures per day to earn X amount of money in a month, many would rather spend their teens in fun and then scam others of X money in a day. Society would collapse if such people are applauded.

Getting money the “traditional” way consisted of the 996 system, as in, work from 9am to 9pm, six days a week. There’s not really a sweet spot between the two, and the alternative of leaving the country as skilled workers (like my family- college educated and experienced) needs education, which in turn needs money, which, as mentioned in the video, isn’t an option for a large part of the population.

Cheaters are scum !! HOWEVER, we are not going to sit here and act like this full grown woman is completely innocent. Just because she’s single and not cheating on anyone doesn’t mean sh*t and to say that in her defense just shows how flawed your logic is in this situation. When you get married and your husband cheats on u, will you defend the girl he cheated with if she’s single and not cheating on anyone? Ridiculous. @@m.k.7101 well that shouldn’t be a means of deterrence to not volunteer. Yea ngos will profit like 80/20 and the 80% is justified in ‘running’ the the organisation. But if you look at it in a macro view. Individually it will be difficult to do so as it will be hard to find the resources to do so. I guess baby steps with have to take and make do for the time being

On a lesser scale, it's the same for "influencers" in France. The agencies rent some apartment in Paris with a good view on the famous parisian roofs or on the Eiffel tower and that's how you have this typical "posing at the window over Paris" on hundreds of instagram accounts.
