Marshall definitely ain't what it used to be. Really cool amp.
Very nice, I like the schematic visual so we can follow along in the circuit.
What great tone!! Sounds like it’s ready for a killer recording session.
Congratulations to the lucky owner. Thank you good sir for keeping her around for the next generation. They’ll always be legendary.
very nice. I like the buss wire idea. definitely going to have to try that. Thank you for sharing. You do great work and your videos are very helpful. much appreciated
Dear god that thing sounds awesome. And Thanks for the great explanation of the two channels. It makes perfect sense. The owner is a lucky guy!
Hey if this amp gig fails you could easily go into voice over work Lyle 😂 nice pipes
good gawd - that sounds fantastic. And the workmanship is inspiring. Awesome all around!
So, I was surfing da ‘tube with my buds in while eating my dinner, watched a klon thing that just confirmed my dislike of the pedal, and then you showed up and I have to say the sound quality in narration is soooo damn good. Head and shoulders above most and instantly gives impressions of content quality and care. I watch most of what you do, and know of your journey through lav mics and clipping issues and wanting your sound to be good. You nailed it. Hifi excellence. Calm and clear waters doth make listening and watching pleasure.
Note: not really a Marshall fan but your work could make me like anything! ;))
Thanks mate! Means a lot.
Sounds beautiful!
What a gem of an amp, nice work man!
Nice old pots. Very very beauty amp.
Looks and sounds great Lyle. I hope the owner at least goes in for the new preamp tube sockets at a minimum.
Awesome job Lyle. That owner is going to love this amp now with all the right corrections.
I could here some ac dc tones flooding through....must that sg
Came back to watch entire video. I maybe wrong but I heard the 18w sounded better than the 20w amps
Absolutely a beast of an amp…your standard of repair and workmanship is off the charts great. Lyle you are a magician and a rock star imho. You and Brad Webb are emphatically the best, not only on UA-cam, but on the planet at repairing amplifiers. Kudos my friend. I hope all is well in Memphis land.
Well, thanks, but I can’t imagine that’s true. I know a lot of guys who are absolute masters. They just don’t do YT.
All I can do is try to be the best amp tech in my room.
@@PsionicAudio and you are humble as well.
I’m the awesomest at being humble.
sounds lovely 👍
Lovely tones.
Great work and a great sounding amp.
Great sounding voiceover Lyle.
A lot was lost with the over-processed distortion channels in modern Marshalls...
Very nice 👌
Nice!
Sweet.❤
At 3:06 , the terminal on the cap looks awfully close to the chassis. I'm sure it's just the camera angle and there is enough clearance, but I can't help but point it out.
Looks really close, and it used to be really really close. I undid the mounting bracket and got it as good as possible with a real gap. They misdrilled the chassis in ‘66.
Is there any noticeable difference in a ground buss wire vs. a brass plate a'la Fender?
Thanx in advance and thanx in general, Teach
If done right, no.
😎👍👍
😎✌👍❤🖖
Use a modern UK plug with insulated pins though. That one in the video isn't to modern standard.
That would be the plan if he wants a UK plug.
@@PsionicAudioCool! Great sounding amp and nice work.
Old Marshalls are unmatched . Slaps you through an iPhone . 3d swirl around is lovely . How do you like the royals vs the real deal Phillips?
They sound right. Other brands of polyester I use sound right too. But no complaints.
I have plenty of experience with the different generations of zoso , which the synergy’s are essentially. I always hear them as soft in comparison , not as much Marshall krang as I would hope, but they do feel right and get the job done .
Well, I don’t expect “the full kerrang” from a cathode biased 18W but it sounds right for what it is. That was through my shop ET65, will be testing the old silver Celestions next.
Totally , not expecting the 100 w super lead , but I listen to all your videos , and even this lowly cathode biased 18w has some serious raw midrange character compared to similar circuits I have heard on the channel. Looking forward to hearing the vintage celestions!
