It doesn't have a player's choice emblem on the cart I know, but did have one on the box. Another cart sort of like that is Diddy Kong Racing, only about half of the player's choice-stamped boxes had carts with a player's choice emblem inside, making the player's choice cart of that game uncommon.

I remember rollerblading to Blockbuster video before the N64 was released to play the demo unit of Mario 64 with my friend. We had our own save file on the game and I'm pretty sure my friend and I beat the game before it was even released. Presumably this was on a not for resale cart.

Soo, I've just learned about this. Never once knowing but always suspecting that the NFR labels had been worth money.. My uncle use to have a game store and I remember I would always pull these out and set them aside when I'd stop in and tell him I think they are worth money and he would always kinda blow it off and say " huh I'll check them out" but I'd see them mixed back in with the rest again another time and pull them out again.. Now I'm really wishing I had bought them like I was going to.. FML. lol Hopefully what's left of his massive inventory still consists of at least a few of these. Tho they been in storage for years.

No it isnt funny story my neighbor when I was young was a store manager at a toys r us, he was a big dreamcast fan. Since he didnt have an n64 and I'd take care of his dogs when he was out of town he started giving me the carts when they were done with demoing them in the kiosk. He gave me the yoshi international cart without ever even setting it up in the store. The whole game was in Japanese and seeing as how kids would try the game out before theyd buy it seeing a game completely in Japanese wasnt gonna sell to many copies. I tried it and it was kinda boring to begin with but my sister rly liked it and ended up buying it when it finally did come out. Years later I see them buy it now for 1,000 bucks on ebay and I started cracking up. I sold it to my brother in law along with some other nfr gems for a WAY more reasonable price then that. They were just gonna be thrown out then 15 years later demo carts from a toys r us I got for free are the rarest and most expensive part of the entire N64 library...

I think the rarities for these things are a bit over-done by you, even for this being made in 2012, but I actually plan to accomplish this exact goal as well: get every single N64 NFR known to exist, with a twist: I am going for the ones with only a back sticker and any foreign NFR's I find out about as well :) So far it is going... decently, right now I only have the star wars episode one racer NFR (won a bid on Ebay, got it for give or take $40) and you are kinda my inspiration for trying to accomplish this goal, so I guess thanks for making this video and inspiring me :P Do you still have this amazing collection of NFR's?

I actually contacted the seller about it. He said:"This copy was a last minute decision that Blockbuster decided they wanted to have for their kiosk, but the Nintendo representative that came didn't have an actual NFR copy, so before he gave this copy to Blockbuster, he put a sticker on it saying it's NFR, for this reason there is no sticker on the back of this copy. This is all the information my friend has given me about it." So he knows it's not actually a NFR, but is selling it as such.

I've tried to track down the NFR version of Diddy Kong Racing for years, as I remember playing the store demo as a kid, and recall many bizarre differences from the retail version; like the doors in Dino Domain after completion having 3 balloons on them instead of 2, and a different layout for the lobby to Sherbet Island (Instead of T.T. walking around the small island in the middle, the strip of land in front of the doors was wider and he walked around that, with a small pool of water in the middle). Unfortunately, I've never found a copy of it to verify this, and info about any differences is scarce

Also some NFRs that are known to have back stickers just never had one applied for whatever reason, no sign of a removal. You'll never accomplish that goal.

a blockbuster store in new york that my dad and I used to go to when I was a kid had once rented a copy of super smash bros nintendo 64 and it wasn't not for resale, it wasn't a demo only cartridge or anything, but the store shutdown in new york and got bulldozed down in placement of a rite aid (pharamacy) XDDD we have the right to keep the game as the store was shutting down they said, so we thank god got to know that before we could've been suspected of withholding a game years late due for return with some sort of massive fee from being years old.
