Just a quick disclaimer: I DO NOT condone using restoration methods to trick uninformed buyers. As with any other sort of repro technique (cartridges, labels, etc), if you intend to resell, make sure to let the buyer know the game's been refurbished! Or better yet, just use these tips for your own personal collection. 😉 Cheers!
Holy crap. I was skeptical upon clicking on this one, but I am thoroughly impressed with the way your examples turned out. They will never be perfect, but they look so much better than how you began with them. Great job!
Mind = BLOWN I thought I knew how to do this by just using a hair dryer to give shape to the box back but that improved the shape, this makes it perfect. You are the BOSS.
This video was legitimately awesome as someone who loves game preservation seeing how you fixed the boxes up was very professional and well done overall great video
Lineland Road ua-cam.com/video/W2tbSZecN9c/v-deo.html (though it seems to be an 8-bit version of that track) edit: loeder did an 8-bit version, it must be it ua-cam.com/video/bhMv9dFc7Hw/v-deo.html
Well said! I do all the exact same things! Actually came here to see if there are any new tips I may be missing. Looks like what you and I do is the best method .
Here's a pro tip for anyone planning on doing this: print a "refurbished box" label and stick it to the cover if you do the marker thing. Collectors will thank you if you resell it. Drew touches on this in his follow-up video on DVD cases.
I like the little comedic tidbits you added into this like the little "LOL Roasted" caption and the Heavy Rain game being thrown on top of the stack of books lol.
Nice job on the DIY! I would be a member but I'm an individual who doesn't have money. But that doesn't stop me from supporting you by just liking and just commenting on this video. :D have a good rest of your day!
drew... you are the reson i love nintendo. before i started collecting i sold my gamecube to my sister, but when i saw your vids i got it back and started collecting .thank you so much and could you maybe do a gamecube buying guide in the future? thanks
I’m not collecting right now but if I get a chance to get back into it I’m totally rewatching all these videos you’ve done because they are so to the point on how to do it. Thanks.
The box reinforcement tip is great! My collection is exclusively CiB and I have my fair share of “average condition” NES boxes and SNES that, whilst still structurally sound, have admittedly seen better days. Thanks mate!
Wow! Now I know how to properly take care of my GBA game box! Thanks, Nintendrew! Also, the little visual jokes you throw in every now and again are pretty great!
I recently bought a copy of Who Wants to be a Millionaire for the GBA off of eBay, mainly because it was only £1.99, ($1.60 or so) fully boxed with inserts and paperwork. The box was completely crushed and destroyed, so i decided it would be a great box to try this on for the first time as i didn't want to try it on one of my more valuable games. It actually worked amazingly! The box is back in shape with no real signs it was ever crushed and even has integrity in it's shape, it's not all sort of squishy, it's literally close to new. Great tutorial! Time to sort my valuable boxed GBA games and maybe even the original box from my personal GBA FROM 2003.
I had a friend that laminated their SNES boxes and cut the excess plastic off and they actually turned out really nicely! I would like to see that technique combined with all the tips in this video to make a really nice looking box.
Wow, this is such a cool intersection of game collecting and getting to be artistic! I’m impressed how seamless the end product is. Been really enjoying your channel, you gained another sub! :)
Wow, I never thought on using Sharpie pens or similar stuff to retouch game boxes, that's a very good tip! About ironing the box too, can't believe on the result. Thanks man!
This has inspired to start my own n64 collection, i have a n64 with an everdrive but now I want all the games and accessories since it’s my favorite console
Lighter fluid is the quickest way to remove most stickers including the gum residue often left behind. Simple squirt on top of the sticker, let it soak for 15-20 seconds and then lightly peel. Put some lighter fluid on a corner of a napkin and wipe to get off the remaining residue. The lighter fluid evaporates quickly so even if exposed cardboard absorbs some fluid, it will evaporate in a minute or two and leave no stain, odor or residue. :)
The ironing technique for the structure is a great idea. I’m really not keen on using felt tip pens to colour the boxes in though. I’d prefer to see the marks than that to be honest. Gives the boxes some character.
Awesome video! I just started retro game collecting. And just picked up a N64 in its box. So I’m trying to find ways to persevere it. Thanks for the tips.
Ok so don't be alarmed. I'm watching this at 3 in the morning and my brain is doing a thinking. So while watching your intro, my brain was like, "what happens to all those collectables when he dies? Does he actually play all those games? I doubt it. But what if he does, I'll never know." As I said, it's 3 so I'm kinda going insane because I can't sleep.
Oh wow! Thanks a ton man! I got so many game boxes from my childhood I need to restore! Unfortunately hardly any from my NES days because my dad was a recycling snob and threw all of them away while I was at school. -_-'
Thanks for the tips!! I wasn't sure how the boxes would look just being touched up with sharpies but they look pretty damn good! Greetings from the u.k!

You should pin this so everyone can see it
Nintendrew hey drew, what Nintendo console is your favorite?
Pixelated TR His favorite console is the "Nintendrew 64" I think! :)
Pikamon101 knew someone would make that joke
Drew you should do a video on custom game cases as an alternative to owning carboard boxes for anyone who may be interested
The Heavy Rain joke cracked me up, definitely earned a like lol.
Same here! Definitely deserved my like!
I laughed way more than I should have at that
@@AwesomeBrony I see a fake checkmark, fbi open up
Oh i get it lol
I didn't exactly get the "joke" at first because I happen to love heavy rain.... but i went back and listened to it again and finally got it. 😂
I avoided ironing my whole life and now this. I knew this day would eventually come...
lol
lol
Lol
lol Lol
lol
I actually never thought of doing that to my old game boxes. Now I need to try that! Very cool video!
Hey, Nico! you're videos are awesome.
Hello Nico Barbeque
Hi
Nico! Hey man! Love you and your videos!
@Nicobbq so did you tried?
Holy crap. I was skeptical upon clicking on this one, but I am thoroughly impressed with the way your examples turned out. They will never be perfect, but they look so much better than how you began with them. Great job!

Me too
Nintendrew doing his part to increase sales of irons among adults who should already own one. :p
NF Magazine
Or you know, the boxes themselves, albiet slightly more value, not as much as brand new boxes.
i dont iron my clothes lol theres not really a reason to
I don’t usually iron, except for formal clothes
Ironing is good but a good spin on your washing machine probably does half the job
I don’t need one. I have a good washing machine and a high end dryer. No foulds whatsoever
Mind = BLOWN
I thought I knew how to do this by just using a hair dryer to give shape to the box back but that improved the shape, this makes it perfect. You are the BOSS.
Worked like a Charm! My Smash Bros box has never looked better, thanks for the Tips!

“Put something heavy on the box”(puts Heavy Rain on the box)
This was satisfying to watch
2:29 now I can finally fix my N64 cases AND iron my shirts at the same time.
Man, your videos always make me want to start up a collection of my own. I'd say that's a sign of quality content.
"If you're an adult who lives alone you should already own an iron..."
Heh, I don't know why that got a chuckle out of me
Same
It's true! I bought a house and it came with an iron that's just how it works! 😂
I’ve been waiting for this video for a really long time! Thanks, nintendrew!
This video was legitimately awesome as someone who loves game preservation seeing how you fixed the boxes up was very professional and well done overall great video
“Use a heat gun or a hair dryer”

This was very satisfying to watch! Thank you!
Thank you Nintendrew, very cool!

This was mind blowing haha and definitely trying it on a GBA game I just picked up! Excited to have it but the box has seen better days. Can’t wait 😊
This guy knows how to build a video. Really good content creator
Well said! I do all the exact same things! Actually came here to see if there are any new tips I may be missing. Looks like what you and I do is the best method .

Incredible work and great idea for a video as always, Drew!
I don't actually own any catrages with boxes, but Nintendrew is just fun to watch.
I like the little comedic tidbits you added into this like the little "LOL Roasted" caption and the Heavy Rain game being thrown on top of the stack of books lol.
This tutorial really helped me out in my N64 Boxes & Banjo Cartridge. Thank You, so much man.

I’m so glad you put this up, I’m in the middle of cleaning my collection and had a ton of boxes in terrible condition. Thanks!

I just got two Gameboy games with their original boxes. This video will be perfect. Thanks for the upload
that was the sickest thing i have ever seen especially using those markers to cover up the wear 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Thanks nintendrew you know your games!

Why do you have to make things so inteteresting and helpful. I been subscribed when you had 20k subs Love your vids
watching this video and your exemples is the best thing ever without someone else helping.
This video is incredible, thanks for making it. I have so many boxes that need this TLC.
