I swear Tatum has got exactly what she wanted, which is people like you to feel sorry for her. You obviously don’t know the facts… her dad was filming a movie in Europe during the Academy Awards. He had his own girlfriend, Bianca Jagger at the time designed Tatum’s’s little tuxedo outfit she wore. As for her mother… From Tatum‘s own mouth “ my mom wanted to go, but I said no because she was wearing these really embarrassing wigs at the time”….. I don’t think you guys have any clue what a cottage industry Tatum and Griffin have made off talking to the press, writing books, slamming their father… Meanwhile his other son, Patrick says that most of what Tatum says or lies, and that Ryan was a great dad to him. But you won’t see him writing any books and trying to obtain money from exploiting the family name. Also, I think it’s interesting that when Ryan started getting older, all the sudden Tatum wanted to “reconcile“ with him…. which is sweet and convenient… I think it’s interesting that she went to visit him still trying to reconcile I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he had a $30 million beach house in his estate, along with the other millions. And funny enough when she didn’t inherit, she didn’t go to the funeral… But I’m sure that was just a coincidence… the two people who did inherit were Ryans son, Redman with Farrah, but sadly, even though he was a sweet and shy child, who never talk to the press, by the way… Has horrible, genetic mental illness and substance use disorder, so he can’t even claim his inheritance as he lives in a mental hospital for the criminally insane. so Patrick, the only genuinely loyal child, besides, Redmond now has the beach house and the inheritance… And he was the only child of Ryan, who went to the funeral… Meanwhile, Tatum is still talking to the press. Every chance she gets hanging on to that last bit of fame until the very end that’s the sad part… If Ryan did anything wrong after taking custody of them, leaving them from their mother, who is having a nervous break down (even Tatum says that Ryan saved her and was her mother and her father)…. It’s that he spoiled them too much… They were known all over town as insufferable entitled brats…. Like they were the king and queen of nepotism and “don’t you know who I am”

The only one I feel sorry for is Tatum O'Neal. She was 8 years old making her first movie, Paper Moon, and the next thing you know she wins an Academy Award for it at 10. She was up against 15 year old Linda Blair who was nominated for her role in the world's most famous horror movie, The Exorcist. When she went to the Academy Awards show and accepted her award, her parents weren't even there with her. Her grandfather was. The amount of pressure Hollywood put on her from that point on must have been so overwhelming and ridiculous. There's no way she stood a chance in growing up to be a normal girl, especially when her parents were addicts and abusive and not even around.
I read that her dad would take her to parties when she was too young to be there. Adults would give her booze & drugs, Ryan didn’t care. But resented her Oscar win. He wasn’t a good dad.
He hit on her once because he didn’t recognize her.

By this measure, your sympathy should extend to Joan Crawford's daughter who was terribly abused and it wasn't just the daughter who admits to it. There was house staff and Hollywood Insiders who witnessed the abuse. And I must add it's not fall despite nepotism when your mother is the one who blackballs you from Hollywood. That's just more abuse.

Christina Crawford? There are several videos right here on UA-cam of celebrities who witnessed how awful Joan Crawford was to her and her brother. Cheryl Crane, Natalie Schafer, June Allyson, among others. Not sure how it's nepotism when your famous parent does everything to undermine you.

I'd keep Barron on the list. Melania is suffocating that kid, and I have never seen a boy come out right with a suffocating mother who has taught you that you are better than everyone else.

Well it is pretty damn illegal in China. Most Asians honestly have never even seen it or know what it is. I've seen a lot of footage where average asians really have never even heard of it. Not defending what Jackie Chan did or making excuses. That wasn't enough of a reason to turn on your children. I'm just saying you need to look at it from their culture.

Different societal standards and all that. I had no idea that the Chinese were so anti-weed but they clearly are, and if Jackie Chan has a history of speaking up against drug use - and I got the sense from this video that he has - then he was in a pretty difficult situation, ie denounce your own son or show everyone you’re a hypocrite with dubious morals (to the Chinese, anyway). Jackie seems like a decent guy and I would guess that he was genuinely really disappointed in his son and held himself to his own beliefs, rather than he went out of his way to humiliate the kid.

But Tatum was one of the highest paid actresses after she made Paper Moon. And she had several more hit movies after paper Moon. In 1976 she starred in Bad News Bears a huge hit. She made Little Darlings in 1980 also a big hit. She didn’t transition into adult roles because she made poor choices and her drug use.
Max Landis didn't have the best rolemodel, since his father is a toxic narcissist. Not that it excuses his behavior, but he comes by it honestly.

Old murderer Landis lied to the three safety professionals on set, the pilot, the safety stunt coordinator and the pyrotechnic coordinator. He had the welfare liaison bring the kids out on set violating their restrictions. His direct actions caused the horrific crushing death of three people. And he tried to blame the people he lied to. He was acquitted- he shook every jurors hand and invited them over. If you read the transcripts it boggles the mind how he got off. He’s a freakin murderer
It’s a CRIME that Landis has had the career that he has had, and continues to have, given his culpability for the horrifying deaths of that poor man and those two beautiful innocent kids. Hollywood really does have disgusting ‘standards’. 🤬

@@clothilde1623 That's so silly. It's not nearly as dangerous as alcohol in large doses. In the U.S. in some states its legal. It's largely being "not enforced" (it's still technically illegal in some states, but officers just recognize the inevitability of its decriminalization and probable pardons for people who *were* arrested for possession).
@@dante6985 I know it’s legal in certain US States, and as half of your politicians are more right-wing than our Tory party, it’s even more perplexing and embarrassing that legalisation isn’t ever considered here.
In terms of application of the law, if you’re caught in possession of a sufficiently small amount that it’s deemed for personal use, chances are you’ll be let off with a warning. Anything more and you’re looking at incarceration.
I agree that it’s ludicrous, especially as the youth drinking culture here is out of control. What’s more, the burden excessive alcohol use/alcoholism puts on the NHS is considerable, both practically and financially. But suggest legalising weed? Oh the depravity! 🙄😒 (Even though it’s categorised as a Class C drug!)

Funnily enough, Daniel Day Lewis could himself be described as a nepo baby of sorts - his father, Cecil Day Lewis, was the British Poet Laureate, appointed by Queen Elizabeth II. However in Daniel’s defence he at least chose a different career, and has certainly earned all of his plaudits in his own right.

I don’t feel sorry for Max Landis. He had power in the industry passed on from his father, but he chose to squander it. He even wrote an article in a lame attempt to defend his actions towards women by bringing up, of all things, the twilight zone tragedy, which involved his equally dumpster fire of a father. He mentioned along the lines of, how the negative press his father got over the twilight zone movie tragedy trickled down to him, for whatever reason. I guess the rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the old tree.
Sad how there's still such a stigma against marijuana in some parts of the world, even though it's no worse than alcohol. Come to think of it, I don't think Fishburne did anything wrong either. Sex work is also unfairly stigmatized/criminalized.
Charlie Sheen did become an A-lister in his own right which is not characteristic of a nepobaby. Micheal Douglass is the same. Nobody ever calls him one.

I think it’s funny how people are showing pity for Tatum who was given everything and flushed it down the toilet, but not Jackie Chan’s son who went to jail for 6 months and lost everything for smoking weed 🤷🏼♀️.
let me educate you a little bit about Tatum. Yes, her father left her mother which sent her mother into a deep depression and substance use… Ryan who is a huge movie star at the time came in and got the kids and got custody of them. They wanted for nothing… and it turn them into a couple of spoiled brats.. if I blame Ryan for anything it’s for spoiling those kids, especially Tatum. I don’t think he should’ve let her be in Papermoon with him because after she won the Oscar, it went to her head… I know people who went to school with Jodie Foster and Tatum in the 70s… Every one said how nice. Jody was but that Tatum was a big bully, and just the most entitled spoiled brat. You can imagine because of the Oscar… this is the stuff that you don’t read, but Ryan was constantly bailing her out when she would get in trouble. When she was filming “little darlings.” she was such a problem on the set they had to shut down filming… The Director didn’t know what to do so he called Ryan who is in the middle of filming his own movie… Ryan flew in and had a talk with Tatum and her behavior improved, but it cost the millions of dollars and the movie tanked… Which is a shame because the real talent of that movie was Kristy McNichol. She was so good and so iwas Matt Dillon…. She was attached at the hip with her dad and he didn’t know what to do with her, so yes, he did take her to the clubs with him because at least he was there to watch her. She was constantly sneaking out and because she was “Oscar winner, Tatum, O’Neal“ she would always pull the celebrity card even as a teenager “don’t you know who I am?! if you don’t let me in I’m gonna call my father”…. She also became “friends” with Cher, but even by her own admission, she basically stalked Cher and would just go over to her house and stay there and refuse to leave. Yes she was seeking female nurturing that’s not lost on anybody.. so when somebody finally showed up, who was the perfect nurturer? Tatum did nothing but make her life a living hell, of course I’m talking about Farrah… She went out of her way to be nice to Tatum and try to be a good surrogate mother figure for Tatum wasn’t having it. She wanted her dad to herself…. She just became so used to getting what she wanted that she became impossible. Nobody wanted to work with her anymore and then she ran off and became Mrs. Jj John McEnroe, and became like this New York has been social lite still pulling the “don’t you know who I am” card. And if you hate Ryan guess what? Tatum was the chip off the old block because she was a terrible mother more concerned about getting high and I have substance use disorder so I feel for her there what I don’t feel for is the entitlement she lost custody to McEnroe… And from then on, she’s made a cottage industry of talking to the press, slamming her father, and whining about what a hard life she’s had. Both of her books were riddled with lies. Some of them are just laughable… her own brother disputes most of what’s in the book… As of course, Ryan did too and basically anyone who knew her at the time. She even said in her book “a paper life” that Michael Jackson wrote the song “she’s out of my life” about her. When everybody who’s Michael Jackson fan knows that Michael didn’t even write that song…A a man whose wife left him, wrote the song and gave it to Michael to sing. I can go on but I won’t… I’ll just say that Ryan‘s son Patrick, who is a extremely well-adjusted a sportscaster for the LA Dodgers… Said that Ryan was a great father, all the way up to the end. I think he turned out well because he didn’t get the same red carpet treatment and entitlement that his older brother and sister did I think Ryan had learned by then… If you want to feel sorry for anyone in that family feel sorry for Redmond… He has substance use disorder too and unfortunately, horrible mental illness schizophrenia. Not only that, but he was left with the mess that his older siblings had created. Luckily he had a great mother but unfortunately everyone knows that she passed away. And he couldn’t even go to Ryan’s funeral because he was in jail. They let her go see her on her deathbed, while he was in shackles. But even with all the substance use, Redmond has never gone to the press and sold stories like Griffin and Tatum have made a cottage industry of doing. Before his mental illness really hit hard by all accounts, he was a sweet, shy young man very much like his mother, in every way.. I believe most of his problems are genetic, and my heart aches for him. Farrah left her estate to Redmond, but he can’t even enjoy it because he lives in a mental ward for the criminally insane. He was also given Ryans 30 million Malibu beach house but for obvious reasons it had to go to Patrick instead… Part of me thinks that Tatum was trying to reconcile with her father so that she would get an inheritance and the Malibu beach house… When that didn’t work out for her so well she skipped Ryan’s funeral. And she was long recovered from the od./ stroke. The only one who went to Ryan‘s funeral of his children was Patrick… Am I saying Ryan was the perfect father? Hell no… but that doesn’t give Tatum the excuse and it doesn’t give Griffin the excuse either.

Yeah he was great in Platoon. I’ve never seen Wall Street but think he got serious plaudits for that, too. The whole nepo baby thing becomes a lot more palatable if the kid in question has real, demonstrable talent. The only one I can think of in the current crop is John David Washington, who has definitely inherited Daddy Denzel’s acting chops.
