  • This is the 5th and final episode of my series, "Playing My Fans Pieces." In this video I perform 5 beautiful pieces written by my fans, from the easiest to the most difficult. This video took me well over 8 months to create and I am super proud to show my fan's amazing works today to all of you.
Special thanks to Bat for his help in assisting with the entire process from the beginning, helping to narrow the selection of the pieces from over 100 submissions into the final 5 pieces.
Please be advised that in some of the cases, I played a shortened or an edited version of the original fan's piece. Check out the links below for the composer's channels:

Music that comes directly from the soul and not lackluster production in modern day is truly the greatest form of music. Props to all of the wonderful people that created such beautiful works of art. They could very well be considered "timeless" to the people who care enough to sit down and listen to their beauty.

I love Zulaski's compositions, each and every one of them just speaks to me as a person, I grew up in a broken house hold with an abusive mother that I had no escape from, and how my life went was mostly dependent on the mood she was in. and Zulaski's music perfectly captures how that feels, when it's at its worst you feel short of breath, like walls the walls are closing in, like there is no way out. but then all of the sudden it's a calm peaceful medley. everything looks to be okay but it all feels like a lie, like you're just wearing a mask pretending to ignore what just happened. you try to maintain that piece, even if you know it's a lie you get this vain hope that this time will be different , this time she really changed, this time you won't have to suffer, this time you won't have to go back there. but no matter what you do the cycle repeats itself, and at a certain point that hope becomes the thing that kills you. his music brings me back to those times, like it all happened yesterday but then it's over, the song ended but I'm still here, still breathing, I can go anywhere I want, and I no longer have to wear the mask, I survived it and even if I'm stuck remembering thing I don't want to, that's all it is... a memory. his pieces give me a way to vent off the steam of my past without getting burned, and I can not express how much that means to me.
Zulaski if you read this I want to thank you, and sincerely hope the best for you. keep up the good work

      Hi!
I already saw your comment four days ago.
But I'm not a squid of words and stuggled writing a reply for you, which would satisfy me.
I am so happy that this piece touched you and that you relate to it and the circumstances it adresses on a deeper level. Troubles of this kind - especially when it is unpredictable when they start and end, and each end seems to be a hope in itself, just to be extinguished - They just are so very suffocating.
My mother is doing significantly better now, due to having found proper medication.
And on some days, she resembles the loving and happy and caring mom again I grew up with.
But the years between her initial psychosis and her first relapse and the years ever since have been so unspeakably terrifying. Especially after her first relapse.
Every day when she started doing worse again, I woke up with a feeling like "Today, it'll happen. Today will be her second relapse. Last time, she almost starved or died of thirsth, because Satan told her not to eat or drink, lest we go to Hell. This time, she will actually die and there will be no going back. No recovery."
And I still have regular weekly nightmares where I go to her room to check up on her and find her being dismembered down to a torso with a hip, as she cut off her legs and arms to satisfy God.
And even though it's over now, it's just so overwhelming at times.
Last month on Friday 13th my grandmother died and it really took a toll on my mother (On all of us, but on her specifically. My grandmother was the only person she had regular contact to. They typically spent the entire day together when my dad's at work, my sister with her BF and I'm in another city for college. My grandmother was physically dependant on my mother, my mother mentally on her) One day, she absentmindedly almost burned down our house on accident because she couldn't think straight. We were so very lucky that my dad was there and could keep the worst from from happening.
I had to spend the entire month at my parents place to keep her company and make sure that nothing bad happens.
It's been over 5 years now and whilst it often feels like the tragedy is over, from time to time again, it still is _so present._
It's kind of relieving to see how we both - despite our problems coming from different backgrounds - struggle with so many similar things about our families conditions in so many similar ways and are able to relate and emotionally support each other.
People like us are the people I'm writing this music for.
I wish you all the best as well.

@@Zula_The_Squid For not being a squid of words, you write wonderfully well. :-) Thank you so much for sharing your story, your heart, your feelings. The intensity of your emotions which are certainly understandable and relatable. I am moved nd think now about your situation often, keeping this concern close to my own heart. Nd believing for real nd lasting peace nd healing for you nd family, from all trauma you have suffered.
I also have a story, which is not public yet. Deep emotional pain nd scars that have made me strong in many ways, empathetic - cautious nd very OCD at times. I am still very much a work in progress, that never changes. :-)
So whilest - love your word - pain is a wonderful teacher: a life worth living ultimately sheds by, I believe, supernatural help, the residual shackles of stress, negatives of any kind nd even memories of anguish. Trust me, been there, done that! There is always hope! I am many years removed from the worst of my mess and abuses against me, which healing continues. But I am not where I was by a long stretch; so again I can say, there is always hope. :-))
So I am believing for major shifts for all of us, in tossing residual anguishes aside. For you, I envision an Even More bold, more strong, more clever, more brilliant, more productive Zula than ever before. [As great as you are now. :-)] The truest, deepest desires of your heart being fulfilled!
In drips nd drabs, steps nd stages, this little Turtle - you are Squid, I am Turtle - is winning her "race." One painstakingly slow plod at a time.
So you dear Zula, plod nd step nd race nd play nd compose on! The best is yet to come. Nd it will be worth the wait. :-) You are precious beyond measure. :-)

Thank you so much !!! I played piano since I was 3 until year 7. The reason that I stopped cuz of timing issues of all the activities that I had professionally. I had to train 6 hours a day plus piano practices 2 - 3 hours a day so i can't handle my time.
However I always feel like I had missing something in my life since then as I have no where else can express all my emotions as I have like ocean of them. I always wanna to get back into it but I don't know where to start.
SInce I discovered your channel it reminds me why I was handling my emotions waaaaaaaaaaay better when I was playing piano. All of the pieces in this video has helped me to refind myself, release my emotions and past that struggled / struggles me with me mom who has abandoned me and abused me when I was really young then we united again recently.
BLABLABLA.....sorry for all the dumpin'above....just wanna to say HELLA THANK YOU & APPRECIATED all the pieces that written from these absolutely amazing people on earth and played by the amazing performance expert -----you!

I’m surprised that most of the composers had already been featured, and their work are equally if not better than previous ones. I love all of them, I definitely agree with you point In ep 1, the best melody comes from the beginning of their music journey. And lastly thank you Lionel for sharing all these masterpieces to the world and practising them.🤩👏

Glad you're back, Lionel, but boy, have you been busy, not just learning these stupendous pieces but taking time to inhabit them as if you were their composer. I'm no pianist, as you know, but these were not easy to play/learn though the latter comes with hours of practice... Kudos to ALL the composers... I'm not going to say a) was better than b) because they were each outstanding in their own right. Loved your final thoughts, Lionel. 27:20 How eloquently you sum up the 2nd type of musician: the vessel/the translator/the midwife... And yes, music IS your language.... ❤

Third one is definitely my favourite of the ones presented in this vid.
Last two were incredibly impressive, but didn't resonate with me as much, personally, didn't feel the same chills. Perhaps it's a life experience thing.

I loved your final thoughts Lionel. Your soul, your ambition, and your individuality were all beautifully conveyed through your message.
As someone who's sole purpose in life is self improvement, and with no disrespect, I felt as though most of the pre-performance descriptions came across as facetious. Comparing how you explained each piece to how your final thoughts came out, I felt like... You wanted to make us laugh at something that's suppose to be taken seriously. Take pride in the amount of time and effort you and the composers put forth. It's okay. We don't have to laugh at everything to be entertained.
    Thanks for reading! :)

Ah tysm dood! I haven't uploaded mostly for the reason that I've just been stuck creatively, and I don't completely understand the reasons for that. It probably has some connection with the fact that I had a childish understanding about music, creativity and just life in general. I am slowly becoming more mature in some aspects, *hopefully* XD. Rn, I'm just trying to come to an understanding of every facet of creativity, and I think at the heart of that, I am trying to come up with an adaptive - and in some ways systemic - approach to creativity, and in this case, creativity with music. I feel that I've come to a point that I might be able to compose a full piece quite soon. Maybe in a few months after uni XD. But I don't know what the future holds anymore, I'm only hoping.

I wish I am that great as those composers. I am 15-yrs old from Cebu, Philippines. I already wrote 3 compositions of mine. They are very simple.

My crush and I just watched the video.
    Lionel,
I am beyond the feeling of merely being struck by awe.
    I am worshipping this.
Whilst listening to his interpretation, I relived the time period this entire work is about.
And I did so at least as vividly than I do whilst listening to the original sheets.
And this means so incredibly much to me.
In case people are curious how the original sheets sound, here is the video on my channel:
    ua-cam.com/video/qSb5dvtvwkU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MasterofallCephalopods%3AComradeZulaskiKaitzo
As you did with the first piece we introduced from this greater work, (the first movement, Am Anfang) you have played it different than I ever imagined it could be played.
It feels like you didn't play the sheets, but my very essence. My core.
As if you read my mind and used the piano to transcribe the song my soul would sing,
have I had the mental tools and capacity to write this way.
And it represents my emotional conflict during that time accordingly.
To have edited a piece, yet have it still be an obvious iteration of the original -
And to amplify the emotions I wanted it to carry SO MUCH, without adulterating them -
It speaks volumes about your ability to communicate music to people.
An ability I still need to acquire.
Once again (as you did on any other piece of mine you've played), you have shown me how much I have yet to learn in order of becoming a real composer.
It is humbling and inspiring and the greatest thing ever.
I am but a Yöng Learnyr.
    And you are my Clawföthyr.
And given that your way of remixing my piece was almost akin to the way you have edited and performed the pieces from the great masters of the past (Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, etc.) - even though you edited their music to reasons that couldn't be more different from the one on my piece - this was one of the greatest honours I could have ever had received.
Next time you visit, it'll be melty seasoned camembert with baguette,
Steak Béarnaise with a light salad and a very special desert that was recently revealed to me in a dream.
    Loves from Germany.

Zulaski, I'm surprised no one has commented yet... but it's only an hour old!! What a tribute to Lionel's talent and ability to inhabit another in order to play from that person's perspective...
=> 'It feels like you didn't play the sheets, but my very essence. My core. As if you read my mind and used the piano to transcribe the song my soul would sing, have I had the mental tools and capacity to write this way.'
How humble you are, Zulaski, yet you are the composer.... So glad you (and Lionel) have this ability to express yourselves through music and by doing so, transcend these traumas...

@Master of all Cephalopods: Com... Zula, I hope you see this comment. I thought to post on Discord but more people will see my huge kudos this way? :-)) Loved your piece! Just beautiful. Was especially moved by its inspiration, my heart melted. Keeping that situation if still current nd needful, in my thoughts nd concern. Believing for the best! You are a very precious, tender soul.

Have I not watched this video, I should've submitted one of my pieces I made I put into effort a few days ago. I turned it into an official soundtrack as an original composition of mine (which is on YT!). I don't suppose my piece could be featured in a future video yeah?

Why did you stop doing the effect of the notes falling on the fourth (or was it third?) piece? They really help me stay engaged, and the more complicated pieces were less easily appreciated because they didn't have strong, clear melodies, at least not to me.

I was wondering if you know of any program that allows me to visualize my piano sheet with those bars that everyone uses in videos like this 😅?

I think Lionel uses a personal program, made by one a community program.
But if you search for a program which does just the same, search for SeeMusic :D

Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him.
