- Take 5 minutes to learn this transition and save time and money down the road. The whip transition is one of the most basic transitions you can learn, but it's useful for any kind of video.

Forgot to mention my timeline is 60fps! And what I typically work in, so 8+ frames might seem a little long if you're in 24fps. Hope this was helpful! If you have more questions or want to hang with some like minded editing folk, come pop into the discord: discord.gg/J6WZmx9XDb

I made my first video in Clipchamp and second in Cap cut. But i really want to learn everything in Resolve. cause i want to buy the full version. But the way transitions are so east in the other two made me want to stay. thank you for this demonstration. Definitely subscribing to learn more from you.

Brooooo u saved my 30 min
i luv it here 🐳
Do you mean that
Awesome Thanks!! 💜It would be great if we have a shortcut to add this transition to playhead WITH some custom sfx 🥹
as someone with 0 editing experience that just got started with video editing two weeks ago, I can say that your video was the most informative. There are 4-5 other versions of this out there on youtube, but the way you explained it was the best, and with the most useful tips. I really liked the "M" tip. I wonder if we can somehow reuse groups of 2-3 adjustment layers or an adjustment layer + a small audio track. Good luck with the channel!
Thank you for the kind words Vlad! And to answer your question, maybe? If you have multiple adjustment layers + an audio later, you could try selecting all of them, and then creating a compound clip? Not 100% sure it'll work, but worth a shot!
@@itstheWampus tried it and the adjustment effects are lost. 😞
bro I made my first video edit yesterday and it took me 2 hours to edit a 50 second video, this power bin feature will save a lot of time. thanks
thats awesome! Power bins are a game changer
Thanks a lot! I used to use presets in Premier Pro and then found myself without pants in Davinchi, but I carefully followed ur guide and it turned out easier than I thought it is! Thaaaanks!
Thats amazing! Hope you enjoy your time in DaVinci land
@@itstheWampus I try ahah. I was terribly afraid of new node system and didn't even want to learn it and tried to do all effects in After Effects but it's actually not that comfortable to go back and forth between programmes. I watched ur guide and now Davinchi seems more approachable land ahah so I continue to learn effects making here. Is it truth that Davinchi can replace After Effects in using of effects?
Mmm I would say at a basic level , yes. After effects has some really advanced plugins that Davinci does not, but it's getting there!
@@itstheWampuswhat plagins do u mean?
make sure to mention you can export the settings file to use on multiple computers if you make it as a fusion node from an existing transition
Bro wtf!! Just 305 subs? It should be at least 305k. Anyways, that day will be near soon if you constantly upload this type of awesome content. A small tip(yes you can ignore ofc): Post at least once a week. A Fun Fact: I am your 306th subscriber!
this is super helpful and for me (an absolute beginner) a nice intro to some of the scarier buttons/panels haha
That's amazing! Now you're ready for anything 😎
yeah ... maybe just a few more steps haha@@itstheWampus
This was too simple, almost suspicious. Thank you.
so there's a transition, it's called "push". you can push left, right, up or down. motion blur and easing in and out are built into the transition and you can do it all in the edit tab in about 3 seconds.
effects library > video transition > PUSH TRANSITION
was just about to write this... push transition is way easier and with motion blur enacted looks great! also found as an extra... if you have a bit of resolution to play with... a little bit of a quick keyframe movement of your clips can really sell the whip pan. us the ease in/ ease out handles and make the move super fast for a fraction of a sec and smooth quickly down to zero movement.
This guy is a professional editor, there’s clearly a reason he’s doing it this way instead of the Push. i assume its because its easier to save and apply to other clips
@@wecameasdonuts so am I. if you wanna "swiss army" some effect to use a different way go for it but it won't be faster to adjust another effect rather than the effect that is made for that purpose. that's not being an efficient.
Noti gang
Maaan thanks
The zoom in option would have probably been ideal for your example as you were traveling forward in your game footage.
The transition is nice, but learning about the power bins is the real game changer for me.
I’m trying to learn how to edit and I learned about davinci recently and this tutorial made me think “ I’ll need to do this multiple times to remember” then he mentioned power bins and I felt so relieved
At 2:30 point that was a bit confusing was the arrow meant to correct a mistake that your actually went right instead of left
Please how to get audio quality in voice like yours with elgato wave?
Hi Wampus! just saw this video and you really helped me a lot. Can i ask how you do the Zoom transitions?
Hey! Glad the video was helpful, so it depends on the type of zoom, but essentially the same principle applies. Set a keyframe on the "Size" property in the transform node where you'd like the animation to begin, and then set another keyframe where you'd like it to transition. On the transition keyframe, increase the Zoom/Size to whatever you'd like it to be (anywhere from 1.5x - 3.0x).
Move one frame forward from where the transition keyframe is. This should be where your 2nd clip starts. Set a keyframe here and then go forward as many frames as you'd like the back half of the transition to last. Go through the same steps.
Hope that helps!
Why wont the keyframes save? Im trying to use this transition between projects and it is not working. Great video though this transition is awesome!
there's transition packs?
First, the video was very helpful🙃. But when I try to grab the transition from the power bins to use it for the second time there is an "error" which requires me to choose the folder of that transition... I don't understand what I need to do and every time I press any of the folders it shows me that error again... (And if I press cancel then the transition won't add to my timeline). Can somebody help me?
Thanks for the tip! How can you change the direction to spin 360 etc?
Same concept, except what you're gonna wanna do is keyframe the "Angle" property in the Transform node.
1. Key frame at the starting frame. Set Angle to "0"
2. Key frame at the end point. Set Angle to an increment of 360 (make it -360 or -720 if you want it to spin the other direction)
3. Smooth your Keyframe Spline so that it Eases In and Eases Out (should look like an "S" curve)
The main difference is that you won't need the keyframes in the middle that you use for the whipping version!
hey guys do ya'll know how to add multiple transition to a single clip?
someone help me plz when i add the transition to my power bin and add it again the keyframes are gone. how do i fix this
Hey can you help me my mac control +a button doesn’t give me the same result as yours how did you click the board
Until power bins screw up 😂 w videos
LOL felt that 😂
i love joe! ur the editor?
used to be! I helped with a lot of joe's content up until the very beginning of warzone 2
control space wont open for me on imac
I'm brand new to editing and I found this confusing, but that may just be me needing to get in there and actually play around with it.
Can you show how you do Transition it up and down and zoom and spin ??
Same concept! Keep the same keyframe locations, but change either you're Y Position, Size, or Angle
You edit for joewoe‼️‼️‼️
L I K E 👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯🤩❣🤩❣🤩
This guy is very underrated 😢
Appreciate the kind words ❤️
Hey am stuck at 1.49 the node menu control and space is not working for me
I was just about to ask you how to save and jump off the video....
Thank you!
haha you are very welcome
heyyy so how do you make it go vertical? at 5:06 you say you can but without showing... Thanks
Just swap your inputs! Instead of changing the values for x, change them for the y
bro .... clicked the like button one million times it didnt do anything ...same as before ...
Hey Wampus! For some reason when I do save the transition for future projects, it actually doesn't work (as in it doesn't do the transition seen on this video) but when it comes to like my animated texts which I have saved, that is not an issue. Do you know why that happens?
Hey Razlo! I'm not sure if it's this, but in more recent versions of DaVinci, there has been a problem with the Keyframes being shifted way off the starting point (i.e. 216000 frames foreward). I don't know why this happens, and the last time I looked into it, there didn't seem to be a fix, but if that's whats happening to you, you'll just need to shift them back to the beginning.
You can do that in the Spline Window -> CTRL + A (Select your points) -> Go to the bottom drop down menu and change it from Time to Time Offset and enter in whatever value you want to shift them
Hey man, I would like to know how you did the animation of your hat! =)
Just saw you already made a free node for this, thanks man!
Thanks for checking out the vid!
I'm a slower learner but I got it in the end. Your video was like good sex. Slow, straight to the point and rewarding.
What is the benefit of building this transition over using any of the ones Davinci has baked in?
You can definitely use the one's DaVinci has! This just gives you a bit more control and I personally feel like it looks better. Whatever gets the job done 👍
How about a editing course sir for u i can pay skill share too
I am working on putting out a series of videos to help people getting started in Davinci! Will hopefully be out sooner than later
@@itstheWampus yeeeeeppppppieeeeeee
ctrl + shift doesn't prompt me the toolbar menu to create my node. Any suggestions? I'm using a MacBook Air
its ctrl + space or shift + space!
@@itstheWampus thanks!
I lost you again when you starting moving 8 frames to the right and left. my green horizontal line disappeared I wasn't following along from there
