LMP1 or Hypercar? Which era do you prefer?
Too early to judge really.
LMP1 was incredible in some periods such as the Audi Vs Peugeot years (2007-2011) and then also the Audi Vs Toyota Vs Porsche years (Roughly 2012-2017).
But half the time you had one manufacturer on their own easily winning and it not being half as interesting imo. Like the 2000-2006 era with Audi always winning or 2018-2021 era with Toyota always winning.
With the Hypercar rules you'd hope there would always be competition but we'll have to wait and see.
Hypercar
Hypercar and it's not even close. The battle for 14th will be better than any LMP1 race
lmp1 easily
lmp1
Another fun idea could be a short race around Le Mans of the prototypes that never got to race there (the DPi cars, the DPs, the LMP3s, the Toyota Eagle Mk.III, the Maserati MC12 GT1, the Jaguar XJR-14, the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo, Corvette GTP, the Lotus 23, ect...). Maybe even include some Can-Am cars if there's grid space, or make that a separate video since they don't have headlights.
Great idea
I like this idea
F50 gt or Fxx
@@batuhan4002 I'm iffy on cars that never raced at all. Modelling their performance in-game would be guess work.
Though on the subject of sports prototypes that never raced, that LaFerrari based "LMP1-H" that Ferrari used as a test bed for their 2014 F1 power train has to be at the top of the list. Shame we know basically nothing about it.
XJR 14 is yet to officially appear in any racing sim. Its always the same group c cars.
Ah yes, assetto corsa fan mods, the pinnacle of performance comparisons
Yep, not comprehending the mechanical grip and aero downforce and drag improvements the current hypercar class has an advantage of. A lot of overtakes the Ferrari could've taken but didn't. I hate Ferrari too
In addition, there is absolutely bad AI plus probably bad AI lanes of the track
I did a quick research.
The Bykolles lmp1's qualifing lap form 2017 was 2:03.8, while the 499p's qualy lap from 23 was 2:00.8. 3s slower while built for a faster regulation.
But in 2018, they did a 1 min 58 s 697🏎🏎
Very different track conditions, check next year's qualy times. Everyone got like 5 sec faster
@@eisenerz35Setsuna Yuki's Audi R18 TDI 2011 also lapped it at Spa in 1:58.618.
@@purwantiallan5089 Great car
People like to say that Hypercars are awfully slow, but they really aren't, they're about on par with early 2010's LMP1 cars, which weren't slow at all. "BUT BOP!!!!" Yeah, I can say the same about the Hypercars, that matters not.
And besides, it's not the first time top class prototypes were awfully slow compared to what came before, GT1 cars were awfully slower than the Group C cars before.... At least than things like the 905 and TS010, the 80's Group C cars aren't actually that fast, the Sauber C11 clocked similar lap times to GT1 cars, so yeah.... But I digress. It took until the Peugeot 908 did a particularly blinding lap to clock a faster time than the Peugeot 905's time.
It may be a bit disappointing that Hypercars are so slow compared to the fastest LMP1 cars, I get it, I'm the first one to always prefer sheer speed over anything else, but stop talking like Hypercars can't even break the 3:30 minute barrier in Le Mans.
The ByKolles might be faster but the Ferarri won't catch on fire
Came here to say this.
💀
@@THEWINDTUNNELByKolles LMP1, Emma Verde's 908 LMP1, Audi R18 ETron Quattro LMP1, Yuu Takasaki's Audi R10 TDI LMP1 and Rebellion Racing 2020 LMP1 cars are still unforgotten cars till this very day.😢
And finish the whole season
Toyota getting most there wins racing garage teams I think Bykolles actually sounded nice
I didn't notice until I looked at the 2019 lap times, but the bykolles lmp1 is basically as bad or worse than the vanwall hypercar in relation to the rest of the class. And it's impressive how slow hypercars are around le mans with the top speeds they hit. only 3-4 ks slower than the nonhybrid lmp1s and around 3-4ks faster than hybrid lmp1s, but 8-10 seconds slower a lap around le mans
Vanwall is Bykolles tho, so that adds up lel
more aero, and the 4wd deploy where instant in lmp1
@@giratina_86 the rebellion r13 was non hybrid, still did 3:16s
I mean, one would think Hypercars are slow given how fast mid to late 2010's LMP1 cars were and how they had to slow down LMP2 cars that were made so fast to begin with because how fast LMP1 cars were. However, They're really not that slow, the 499P pole lap for 2023 would have been enough to be on pole in 2013, beating the R18 and the TS030. So yeah, Hypercars are really not that slow, it's just that LMP1 cars got extremely fast by the mid 2010's.
@@Starfire_Storm it wasn't until 2014 that lmp1s stopped being underpowered after the engine downsize in 2011, especially in 2011 they had less power than even current lmp2s
I am so impressed that the ByKolles LMP1 still able to put up a tough fight against the 2024 LeMans Hypercar! Very impressive!
Inaccurate. ByKolles did not burst into flames.
😬
I can here to say that.
Or have Jacque fucking Villeneuve driving it...
Nice battle dude
A cool idea could be what racecars can take turns 17 and 18 at Spa flat out.
Definitely doing it
Finally someone shows that P1s were kinda faster. Even if it was a ByKolles.
P1’s were undoubtedly faster… ~1000hp LMP1 vs 670hp LMH? About a tenth of the budget though so… pick your battles I guess
@@77arceus I know. Just was tires of seeing the "glorious" Ferrari 499 being called the fastest Le Mans car ever
@@Calibra95when was it ever called that
@@StarryNightGazing just go through some wec social media. Anyways.
@@Calibra95 - WM Peugeot is the fastest ever
I don't remember their speed, but how close would the fastest LMP2 cars from this era be to the fastest hypercars?
Incredibly close. Will do one video comparing them in the future
Fascinating. I don’t think I have ever heard of this particular LMP1 car before, unless it’s one of those concept race cars that never got to race??
Or it could may have competed in an Asian series? Hence the “Nismo” to its name?
ByKolles has raced quite some years in the World Championship but unfortunately they weren't competitive and reliable enough to fight the factory cars. They rebranded in 2022 to Vanwall
@@THEWINDTUNNEL I see. Interesting to know. 👍
I don’t know how will it turn out but can a hypercar with awd electric motor keep up with a hybrid LMP1? Because I heard that hypercars only generate the motor to the front of the wheels instead of all four wheels like the LMP1
No way, there's like 4-10 seconds between an LMP1 and a Hypercar. 4WD would make the Hypercar 1.5 sec faster at most
Wouldn't it be more beneficial to do single laps instead of racing together? I feel like the cars being able to catch a tow off each other may effect how performance is perceived. The comparison between the 2 is pretty awesome though!
We like to do a race because it's always more spectacular but you always have the qualy times at the end of the video
Away we go in Spa! Nismo is leading the race
Long straight using slipsstreaming for the Ferrari defending the inside but no!
1:46 Another onboard for an overtaking chance! The ferrari done it! They took the flag!
Realistically the ByKolles would have broken before the race started
🥲
Do lola aston martin vs hyper car. That car actually won wec and was also agaisnt diesel
How about the 2014 24 Hours Of Le Mans Winner Audi R18 e-tron quattro #2 fight the Ferrari Hypercar?
All this is assuming the kolles' wing doesn't fall off
😬
Bykolles mod is definitelly slower than it was in real life, just a kick search on qualy times to know Bykolles is still faster than Hypercars
Which years ByKolles do you mean?
idk bout you guys, but i feel like it isn’t good when the fastest current cars are being beaten by the cars of the past. I know it produces amazing racing, but I think it’s an even greater spectacle to see the absolute pinnacles of engineering tear up the hardest tracks like nothing.
yes, i too love it when the pinnacles of engineering cost so much money that no manufacturer wants to enter the sport, leaving it a three to two horse race.
I'd rather a sustainable championship with lots of entries (Hypercar) over a much smaller but faster entry personally (Hybrid era LMP1)
I mean, sure, it's fantastic to see absolute mental machines doing what they do best on track, but why do you think there's more manufacturers in GT3 than there was in GTE? Having high-tech beasts cost money. Not everyone has that type of money. That's why there's like 9-11 different brands in GT3. They're not these expensive high-tech grip machines that can set 2:12s at Spa Francorchamps. They're affordable, reliable, and produce great and respectful racing for gentlemen drivers. Why do you think LMP1 died off with Toyota being the only one racing in the class? Nobody could afford building their own expensive lmp1 car that was basically a God-tier car. Stuff like that requires money. And that also leads people to become money hungry. Plus, there would probably be less respect in the higher class because everyone wants to experiment and push this hybrid technology to the absolute limit.
I mean, that's the point of Formula 1, teams with insane budgets building cars capable of smashing the lap records of everything imaginable.
It is a bit pointless to try to make WEC another pinnacle of motorsport where you need a F1-like budget to be good. In my opinion, the appeal of endurance is seeing the efforts of the teams to last a very long race. Formula 1 is raw speed, endurance is... well, endurance
Current hypercars aren't as fast as LMP1 but they are still pretty fast and there are more of them so we see some cool racing actions between multiple teams
just so we're clear, the 2023 6 hours of spa pole time was still faster than the bykolles clm p1/01 ever was (save for 2018)
Actually that's no that big I think, like if you compared the RB19 with an 2020 car you'll get a similar gap
Hypercar had a huge draft down Kemmel. Are you really counting that? Lol
The quali times are at the end of the video. The Ferrari is still ahead
This is not accurate. At Le Mans the laptime of the ByKolles was 3:22.5 while the Ferrari did a 3:22.9. So the Ferrari would lose on wvery othwr track too because the Ferrari is especially built for Le Mans and is the most top speed relating car in the Hypercar field as it stands today. That aside the ByKolles would probably lose against an unrestricted Hypercar at Spa especially if it's a Toyota. But no current car would beating an LMP1 Hypercard as they laped 8 seconds faster at Le Mans than today's Hypercars. But what are 8 seconds for at least 10x the cost?
Why are you comparing Le Mans lap times when they both have raced at Spa? Check Spa qualy times ;)
@@THEWINDTUNNEL because I know them still because I researched it some days ago^^ and Spa I always been there but almost never knew the laptimes lol^^
This is the gibson not nismo bykolles
Hypercar too crippled in weight.
Hypercar = LMP1-L… Got it
Not really, the Kolles LMP1 cars were always absolute trash and often got in the way of LMP2s, a proper non-hybrid LMP1 such as the Rebellion was capable of 3:18 laptimes at Le Mans which is still way beyond the current Hypercars.
@@freyala024 It also did a 3.15.8 the second fastest lap time at le mans ever in 2020.
@@Jesko. You're right, I forgot about 2020, just goes to show how crazy even the private LMP1s got.
Fake. The Bykolles didn't set itself on fire.
