GREAT honest video! I think a lot of naysayers, think this bike is supposed to compete with 600 & 700cc middleweights in price and performance. Nope! It's basically a throwback to the early days (60s, 70s & 80s) when small cc race bikes reigned supreme on the race track. Kawasaki saw this as an opportunity to make a limited run of these bikes for a select few who know who it is made for. Is it for a beginner? It could be. They may not make this bike for long, which would make it a collectable in a few yrs, especially if no other manufacturer competes with Kawasaki in this engine size. Currently, no other manufacturer does. Adding this bike to your collection is perfect but don't get it, thinking you'll keep up with CBR 600rr, ZX6r, GSXR 600/750, R6, Aprilia 660 ..etc
@@sebthegoat301 If you are a new rider, get a smaller CC (250 or 300) used older bike to practice on, for a few thousand bucks ($2 -$3k dollars). If you already know how to ride and this is your 1st bike, get it! It has enough safety tech to help somewhat newer riders. My son now owns one, along with several other much faster bikes. I rode it for the break-in period (500 miles).. and it was pretty docile to me but verrrrry maneuverable, and handles excellent. I also have several faster sport bikes so it was very comfortable and easy to ride in my opinion.
I always wanted a small cc inline-4 bike for YEARS. Ever since I’ve seen the CBR250RR in videos back in 2008. These are great bikes to mess around on. Not everything is about speed. I definitely want one.
Just got mine a month ago. First bike I’ve owned and I couldn’t agree more with this review. Sure, I wish it was a little cheaper, but it’s a blast to ride. So worth it in my opinion. I know with a tune you can unlock a lot of power but I don’t even think it’s needed. Could be because I’m a starter but I’m very happy with it as is. It even sounds amazing!!
@@Julinaqxi I did. If you have any experience with dirt bikes or riding a buddy’s bike it’s just fine. The power doesn’t kick in till higher in the rev range and it’s really not that much power anyway.
@@conzy4523it's not A2. Ninja 500 (451) is and in Australia the 650 is also learner approved. My zx4rr is NOT ALLOWED on A2 or learners due to the power to weight
This bike turns into a different bike at 11k. You just need not to be afraid to wind it out. It's like a 2 cycle up in the top end. I love mine in stock form. I'll get it tuned to get the extra 25 hp out of it.
My son had one delivered to my house in July. I rode it around for a wk until he came and got it. I love the bike, it almost feels like a toy (which I kinda like about it). I already own a '18 Ninja 650 & '23 CBR 650... so there is quite a difference between them. My son also has a '09 R6 that I'll be restoring to showroom condition this winter, so he wanted something like the XZ 4rr for the streets and occasional track day!
Nice review. The top-end power is there, just neutered for the US market with electronics. The ZX4R will accelerate like a true super sport between 10K and the redline with an ecu tune. Add the quick shifter and you will be one happy rider.
Why didn't you rev it out to 16,000 rpm, that's what it's made for??? Need to get the ZX-4RR with the quick shifter and auto blipper. 40th anniversary looks amazing.
what would you recommend for a short rider- newer- that wants that sound? I cant find any bike with that sound profile and seating without the seat being well over 32inch and weight going up-
People are always saying that the price is a problem but you get a lot of bike for the money. Ten grand really isn’t that much money in 2024. Get the rr version and flash the ecu you will like it.
Thanks for the review man, keep up the good work. In your opinion, how does it fare against the Ninja 650? Is there any area where the 650 stands out? Except for the price difference ofc.
@@Anthony-hc9ib True, plus the sweet inline 4 sound is cherry on top. But a bit pricey for people on a budget, i guess the insurance rates would be higher too. Since you have driven the ninja 500 as well, how does it compare against N650? Is it meant for freeways? Which one was more fun to ride?
I just got this a little over a month ago. I’m 5’9 and I can comfortably plant both feet on the ground. My gf is 5’3 and she could touch the ground as well. More so on her tippy toes.
Shame you can't use for a first bike in Australia. The 400, 500 and 650 are all learner approved. Zx4rr is not permitted. 3-4months min before you can get full licence for zx4

as a first bike ?

@klavier0x9in Australia you can't ride as first bike. You can with the 400,500, 650 ninjas but not zx4rr. Hope this helps

Is the seating position on this bike more upright than most 600s?

Great for visibility especially at night.

do you know if the bike you're riding here is the reduced power or full power version?

The RR model has a quickshifter, standard R model does not. 👍

They do have quick shifters in the RR ve the R
