- Cheapest Way To Get Rid Of Leaves
The difference between regular lawn mower blades and gator blades is clear. We will show you how to get rid of leaves quick and easy. Oh and did I say this is the cheapest option? This video is directed at homeowner that is looking for a cheap option to get rid of leaves. But I have also used them and will continue using them on customers properties that request them to be mulched in.
We also show you how to install mower blades and when you should use them.

I’ve been running the gator blades for years they’re awesome especially for leaf season. I like your little winch you have in your garage. That’s a cool idea.
Installed these on a riding mower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxetgfkJxfdT_B2vGYP-uNTLaBbim9OKTD . They were sharp out of the box, although I've never liked blade edges that were coated...not quite as sharp as I personally want. Using my belt sander, I removed the coating from the cutting edges and refined the edge enough to shave with them. So far, after three runs, these blades are holding up as expected. Even after hitting a few fallen 1/2 inch or so branches, the edges are still sharp as heck. No edge dings, no warping, etc. As far as installing them, the cutouts were of the proper size and shape to fit my aging Craftsman mower. Very satisfied.
If you are working for a customer always do the best job .None of my clients would want this . I look at a job and say what would I want done on my lawn and make every job, my lawn . Unless it is a field we bag or blow every leaf off to be vacuum up . Have a great day Shawn .
This video is geared more towards homeowners. But we do have a ton of customers that just want them cut.
@@SpencerLawnCare how much do u charge for mulch leaves like if u charge 75 on a regular grass cut do u charge double
i use the gators when my maples drop leaves. when dry they clean my deck like a sandblaster. good job!
We like the self dumping grasshopper and the 16ft dump trailer x3. Since 1971. Plenty of room out in south central Nebraska You are doing a great job on your videos!
I do like the self dumping system its nice. Have a great weekend!
I use the gator blades all the time and they do leave a strip. They work great 👍. Have a good evening.
Thanks, I have tried them and can tell a huge decline in striping appearance.
Quite honestly I am looking at installing these blades for all year round use. Thank you for the video.
Great tutorial Shawn. You sure did get a lot of rain, we got Zeta here in Georgia. We were blessed with only a few branches falling. Others weren’t so lucky. Trees fell all over the place, killing people while they slept. Roads were blocked,& many won’t have power until Nov.1st (Hazards of the South). Y’all have a good evening and weekend.💯❤️👍🏾✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Same here man, that hurricane rain came down for 2 days straight
Been using them for years. I drive my mower backward
over the leaves, It helps keep the leaves inside the cutting deck a little longer and does a much better and faster job.
oh yeah i do like the driving backwards it helps a bunch
🤛
Nice, I gotta try backing up over them, thx!
Your demonstration is excellent. I am highly educated. You are great 👍. I know now when to use what blade at a particular time. Thank you.
I love my Gator blades they work amazing. I have a Z725 Kubota with 60in deck with a chute flap it crushes the leaves. I got ton of yards to do tomorrow and I'm sure with the big storm we got here yesterday morning leaves will be crazy thick and wet. You guys stay safe man. Keep up good videos.
Be safe out working tomorrow and keep making money!!
@@SpencerLawnCare 👍
Nice explanation! Stuff that many folks do not understand!
Thanks Albert
Great video I like using gator blades they work best for where I’m at
It looks like a leafy good job with the new blades.
Hope you guys have a great evening.
Hahaha, thanks MT
Great job, I am on with clearing leaves here in the UK this time of year as well, never ending!.
Thank you and good luck.
love me them gators blades, got mine on this past week.
For sure bud
I ordered the IsoTunes over 2 weeks ago. They said it won't ship out until after 12-1-2020. Geez. Long time to wait. Great video guys. ✌️
Wow! They must have sold a ton. Let me know how you like them.
This is what they said when I ordered mine- Please Note: If your order contains the new ISOtunes LINK, it will not ship until the LINK officially arrives in our warehouse. Estimated order ship date is currently 12/1/20.
@@jeffdc66 thanks for sharing! Good to know.
I love those blades, we used to have curbside pick-up so I didn't mind raking them to the curb. Now we have to bag or mulch, I choose to mulch. It was nice to see the comparison on the two blades.
Take care!
Awesome Johnny, I wish we had curbside everywhere here.
YES! They are awesome! I run them on my mower. The gator blades have decent lift and mulch really well.
I actually run dual blades on each spindle.
I think they do work great, have a good night
Ever try them while bagging (with a powered bagger) What about mulching then bagging? Wonder if you can get MUCH further before the bags fill up.. although you'd need to consider the time to mulch compared to emptying many bags...
I love y'all's editing and different angles y'all's videos have.
Thanks Jason
Very educational thanks
Our company uses these blades all year long on our older Writes. They work great
Absolutely bud
Love watching y’all’s videos, very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it bud.
Very cool video Shawn & tq have a great weekend
Thanks Jason we appreciate you watching!
Yeh, I used these for the first time this here fall, I do like them for mulching leaves. Not a bad idea with opening the chute on the second pass to help disperse the mulched leaves a bit, I'm gonna try that thx!
G5 Gator Blade is a beast!!! You definitely dont wanna go below 150cc with it. It needs a strong engine to do what its full capable of. I used it with a 185cc & it will still bog down in thick grass
Have you tried them in an X format with a higher lift blade as the other blade?
Shawn, have you ever thought about using the x- blades? I made a set for my Hustler fastrax and its a game changer for leaves.
Awesome video and thanks for explaining about mower blades. By the way stay safe and ya all are awesome.
You’re welcome Mike
I would be interested to know what two sets of high lift mulching blades would do with the X blade attachment?
Hey Shawn!! Thanks for the video, answered a few questions I had. I know what I'll be purchasing next fall.
Awesome Darrin, thats what we make the videos for.
Very helpful video thank you
Thanks Vinny
I had a lawn boy silver series with the duraforce it had a fan attached to the blade for mulching and I cranked up the speed of the engine that thing ate everything it mulched up the smaller pieces of a maple tree what fell in Sandy
Awesome tips, Shawn! Thank you for sharing!
This may be a silly question and I know this video is two years old…. but do those back blades on the mulching blade need sharpened as well?
Nice video guys 👍👍💯
Thank you we appreciate that, take care
Can I run gator blades on a 54” Dixon with a blower/impeller and bagger setup?
I've been using gator blades for the last 4 or 5 years only after mulching, I blow the last of the pile in the bagger and use the mulch for garden mulch.
Awesome Chuck
Awesome video! Thank you!! 😎👍
Thank you Mitch
I have the Craftsman T240 with Kohler KT725 22 horsepower 725cc V Twin Engine I have Gator blades on my mower simple fantastic
Mulch kit baffles makes a world of difference.
They do I agree
We love gator blades for tall nasty grasses& weeds in lower alabama
Great info shawn Hi TQ HAVE A DAY LOVE FROM TEXAS.
Thanks Tina
Great job love the video 👍
Thanks Treyvon
what kind of cable lift is that , do u like it after using it for some time now?
I just have a Cub Cadet XT1 46 inch deck. Now can i just use Gator Mulching blades or do I also have to buy the plug to plug the discharge chute or will it still do a good job with the chute not plugged. Thanks
What's the blower set up on the front?
What about creating thatch with mulching leaves like that ? Would not fly in the NE area.
Love the video !
Thanks Ted
Love watching these loose how to videos and getting to see how you guys do things! I’m about to go buy one of those lifts for my garage!
ive had opposite with gatorblades dont mulch or bag well but stripe nice and cut the grass good.
Oh wow really? I guess if i were cutting with them normally i would stripe some
When will you have your leaf trailer up and running??
We are hearing next week.
I like my gator blade's, they do a nice job breaking down grass blades to a fine clipping, they also bag better with the high rise air flow, leaves and grass clippings compost quicker, just my 2 cents.
I have a kabota bx2380 with a bagger kit, do you think these blades would work with the bagger, giving me more time between emptying the bags?
Is that mower mount blower custom?
What size is your impact driver.. . I shopping for one mainly to change mower blades
That's what blades i use this time of year. They are awesome on leafs they dont throw debris as far. Zk with there long bolts i cant stand they about made it a two person job.
Now do you see a vast improvement with dual blade vs single?
Couldn't agree more with mulching leaves but you need to disperse them with side charge with the last pass so they don't clump into the grass and smother it oak leaves and everything my lawn has shown a major improvement since I've started doing that years ago
For sure on dispensing. My yard is like a pond right now though. lol
@@SpencerLawnCare yeah it is tough to mulch and disperse when everything is soaking wet but if you go over it in a day or two it pretty much goes away
I use them all season. Which most of my mowing are cemeteries that only get mowed either every 10 day or every 2 weeks and the mulching blades help with taller thicker grass keeps from having as much clumping and stripping isn't something you go out of your way to do around My area and differently on cemeteries that are so rough you can barely stay on the mower.
I use gators on my mowers my finisher mower has a mulching kit and gators. Not worried about stripes here but it gets rid of all grass clipping. Turns it to powder and feeds the grass
Oh yeah, I wish we had more customers that didn't want stripes. lol
@@SpencerLawnCare Can you explain for those that don't know , what is striping and the benefits for it being done. Thanks.
Not big on raking, bagging and curbing. Tried for the first time yesterday to mulch leaves with regular blades. went over them several times to break them down even further. Will definitely try swapping blades to high lift/mulch style and install plug on my deck
Do they help with the bagger systems by making the stuff smaller?
They don't recommend using mulching blades with bagger systems. High lift or med lift would be best.
Try going backwards when mulching leaves. It mulches them up much better.
can you do a review on the ISOtunes. comfort, quality ect...
What blades would you recommend for bagging leaves??? High lift? Mulching?
High-lift for bagging
High lift bud, never run mulching with baggers
I overlap what I have mowed by 1/4 of the deck to help shred the leaves better but I have a "recycling mower". I know some people who will go over the lawn from side to side after mowing front to back.
That always works great Roy
I got a question do you guys have your UA-cam channel on your business cards? I’m getting some made soon
No we don't
Golf course tip, double back with a blower and fluff up the matted down grass under the mulched leaves, you won't see it from 20' away
I just wait for the wind to blow, then it's my neighbor's problem! 🍁🍂🍃
lol and theres that
In your opinion, which is the best all year blade? Gator or high lift?
High lift if you were going to choose just one. But we switch to all three throughout the year.
You should've also explained why you were keeping them blowing in the same direction instead of going around in circles after you had opened the shoot.
Thanks Jack
Would have also been a great video to see how well the blower done on wet leaves
True Soloman.
I want to know about the lift in your garage
Just bought my first pair! Hoping they work
You will love them Brandon
@@SpencerLawnCare if they speed up my process I'm good! Still running my old toro 16-44 timecutter lol.
@@brandonsmith5692 they will for sure
Awesome!. Thanks alot
Hey guys, i love the videos. I am a 14 year old servicing some properties in my area with the help of some friends. We do the normal maintenance as well as some leaf jobs in the fall and other lawn care related services. We currently have a echo 580t as well as an electric backpack blower which has about 700 cfm and 165 mph. We are looking at upgrading and were deciding between the echo pb 770 or the pb 8010. Is the 8010 worth the additional $100? I would love to here your opinion and i greatly appreciate your videos.
Good For You....an entrpreneur in the works....I love seeing teens having work ethic.
@@uberurbanna1780 We do too
Awesome and congratulations! Yes it is 100 percent
@@SpencerLawnCare One last question. I know you use the 770 and stihl when their aren't leaves and just normal maintenance. Would you still suggest the 8010 for the additional 300 cfm keeping in mind the 20 mph loss and maybe more fuel consumption. Sorry for all the questions just trying to make the right decision.
Great info as always guys! TQ did you see my comment on the steering levers from the snowblower video or did you just figure it out? LOL Have a great day
Oh we figured it out during the editing process the other day. But your comment helped for sure thank you!
Imagine if they were dry leaves great job
If you plug the discharge it will mulch the leaves and blow them into your lawn. Have a Husquvarna zero for several years and do this every winter.
For sure George, thats the best way to mulch.
Hello everyone. Hope you all have a great and safe Halloween
Thanks Brayden, happy halloween
I have used both stock and G6 and find the stock work just as fine. You have to go over the leaves multiple times with either blade so why go through the hassle of having another set of blades.
Spencer is getting too popular! 7 commercial interruptions while watching tonight's video. Good job guys!
I'm sorry for that. We hope you have a great weekend!!
Can you put them on a honda hrx217?
You will have to check a Oregon blade book to see what blade you will need.
Don't they make baffles for that mower I think it would work better and also running mower slower.
I use gator blades. I love them. They definitely don't stripe as good.
Yeah agree
Hello, I’ve read the Oregon Gator G6 Blades are thicker and heavier. Some have mentioned the blade was too heavier for their mower. Have you experienced any difference in performance from the thicker and heavier blade? I want to use these blades on the Wright 36 I. Thanks!
The G6s are exactly what you described. Regardless of what mower you have, it will bog a little more than usual.
@@bmlandmanagementco4981 I have the Wright 36 I, even the G5 were a lot heavier then factory replacements. Bought the G3 they aren’t had wide through the middle, but the cutting edge is 1/3 smaller. Do you think that will make any difference in the cutting or mulching? Thanks!
@@chewarmstrong it’s so hard to say if they’ll make a difference or not. I haven’t had any experience with them. You would think that because the blade is lighter,…that it’ll cut better because your mower would be able to keep the blade speed high. I may set my mowers up for mulching next season. I will certainly consider the G3’s, as I will want true mulching blades.
People try to claim that the G5/G6 Gator blades don’t disperse clippings. I would disagree with that statement. These blades will throw clippings three passes over.
I'm getting killer stripes on a 18 yro Turf Tracer with those very blades.
Ever think about bagging them leaves?
I know you said for every mower but I actually couldn't find gator blades for my mower.
You should go to your dealer and have them look up what blade you will need. They should have an OREGON blade book.
question do the exmars have a sun roof
I don't know what you’re asking
Blocking the shute is better… it will mulch much, much better because he leaves are trapped and get wacked many times more… also should be done with dry leaves
I will run gators blade on top and bottom or gator blade on bottom and mulching blade on top
Thats cool so you X the blades?
@@SpencerLawnCare Yes I have been running X blades for over 15 years now . Have not had any problems with spindles.
Yes Those Gator Blades Are Worth Good.
Yes sir
And that gentleman is how you get bare spots.
I think TQ told you to get to cleaning up that mess! Lol
I sure did lol No honestly its so muddy right now. But we wanted to make this video for you guy's.
It would probably help if that mower had an actual mulch kit instead of a cheap flap that flips down and rowes the leafs up. We run exmarks with mulch kits and they dont make near the mess that mower your riding makes and they actually mulch the leafs up. I'd get rid of that mower and get a good one. Exmarks the only way to go.
I agree, but this was geared towards homeowners that most likely wouldn’t have a mulch kit. And the Qwikchute is far from cheap. That one has worked great for 2 years.
1. Never mulch wet leaves. Dry = Dust when mulching.
2. Will need to go over it twice but mulching blade better than regular.
3. A mulching blade cuts grass just the same as the regular. I’m fact, it cuts better as the mulching blade has more straight blade space than the other.
3. Keep the mulching blade on forever and trash your regular blade.
Are those headphones Bluetooth
Yep!
@@SpencerLawnCare nice!!!
Can you show me how to get rid of leaves please?🍁🍃🍁🍃
yes
It’s call a chainsaw
I used the x blade setup from Ballard all year with high lifts on bottom and gravely mulching blades on top. Also had the mulching kit on the pro turn. Stripe still looked great and clippings weren't visible
