This was read àt my friend's funeral, Marie Turner's funeral. I've never heard about you until 19/8/23 Apparently, you are her favourite poet. Thank you. It hurt my heart but made me so happy that my friend introducedme to this poem from beyond the grave. I want this as well when i die.Marie has a tree planted in her memory where her ashes are under. ❤❤ thank you ever so much.❤
Beautiful poem. But don't worry about missing out on the beautiful snow drops & spring flowers because where you are going will be so much more beautiful & resplendent that you will never miss the earthly things again.
I came across her while messing around UA-cam during the shutdown in the NE US. absolutely love her. & I tell the kids, “see, comedians don’t need to swear to be considered funny”
Pam Ayres, you are my favourite poet and a really brilliant lady! I have no religious belief and this poem expresses exactly the way I feel I would like to end up……..am now going to google it, and hope to read the whole poem! Regards from East Anglia.
My mother had a Flit gun , It was not devoid of charm , A little bit of Flit shot ou tv of it , The rest shot up her arm.... I learned that in the early 70's. Thanks Pam...
It’s strange because as you get older you don’t want to die, I know I don’t and I try not to think about it, unless you get a twinge somewhere. Anyway think of living not dying. I’m not going anywhere not yet. I wouldn’t want to leave my beautiful pets on their own. I love them too much to leave them.
Barry , I understand . I accept death . From the time that people are conceived they are dieing . So, so live, live and live life to the full until you die Barry. You know your animals , they accept that . But, I know what you mean by leaving them. Those loyal friends who use fur instead of clothes . It's hard leaving them. So, spend as much time with them as you can. And with the human friends and family too. Let them know what they are going to miss . Give them many good memories. It's all people can do.
i love her ode to dry stone wallers: i am a dry stone waller / all day i dry stone wall / of all appalling callings / dry stone wallings worst of all...
It reminds me of Emily Dickinson’s my letter to the world, it goes some thing like this. “This is my letter to the World That never wrote to Me, The simple News that Nature told With tender Majesty, Her Message is committed, To Hands I cannot see, For love of Her Sweet countrymen Judge tenderly of Me”
Cremated remains are toxic to plants because they have high PH and high salt. Natural burial will feed plants as long as the grave depth is no deeper than 1200mm.
I would be quite happy to be buried in the same place all my relatives are. It's a nice little cemetery on Anglesey. Not going to happen though because I live abroad 😢
Dear lovely Pam you sold us short.😂 Woodland Burial by Pam Ayres Don’t lay me in some gloomy churchyard shaded by a wall Where the dust of ancient bones has spread a dryness over all, Lay me in some leafy loam where, sheltered from the cold Little seeds investigate and tender leaves unfold. There kindly and affectionately, plant a native tree To grow resplendent before God and hold some part of me. The roots will not disturb me as they went their peaceful way To build the fine and bountiful, from closure and decay. To seek their small requirements so that when their work is done I’ll be tall and standing strongly in the beauty of the sun.

Such a wonderful poem❤
Such a sweetheart. ❤️
Legend 😍
Indeed lovely!
Any tree or bush that grows on that grave will have very bright flowers and funny wiggly leaves.

Oh, dear.
It saddens me that all you think you will become is a tree, Pam.
Especially as you are one of His really great creations....❤
Don Warrington and Pam Ayes; you couldn't wish for better guests.
I want my ashes to be scattered into nature . I would love to be part of the natural growth of a tree . It's the best .

The man sitting next to her is so famous.
