You can hear Nirvana’s influence on Oasis in Married With Children (Lithium - same chords) and Shakermaker (Serve The Servants - same riff notes)
Lithium one could be true I think. As for Shakermaker, I’m sure Gallagher wrote it before 93, when In Utero come out. Even though Shakermaker wasn’t officially released until 94.

Well Oasis were to '90s British rock what Nirvana were to '90s American rock. They even had forefathers who laid the foundations for their success (Stone Roses and Pixies), and rival contemporaries (Blur and Pearl Jam).

A lot of alternative bands include the Beatles as an influence, but it’s the Sex Pistols, David Bowie, and other alt bands and alt artists that influence the overall sound.
Put anything into a blender with punk its sound is pretty amazing.
Although, I read somewhere that if the Beatles were a band of the 90s they would have been considered alternative.
In fact, in the earlier days they could have be considered Proto punk.
Then there’s an album that came out that might be considered the the first alternative album. It’s the one that influenced many in alternative including Noel. Can’t remember the name though.
Anyway, it’s all alternative.

I already knew Oasis' biggest hit was a rebuttal to an obscure Nirvana B-side meant as a joke! Poignant song and ironic how it's Kurt & Nirvana that's gone on to 'live forever!' My Dad knows that his 60's era has the best music but a few years ago, he was surprised by this other old dude at his workplace who told him that Nirvana are massive, they're everywhere and that even the next generation of kids love em! To sum up how huge and influential they are, the guy ended with 'They're awesome.' This was in the corporate sector from a city in the north of England, just over hills from Manchester! Everywhere & forever indeed.

It's possible that at this time a lot of the greatest British bands of the era were still only getting started. Kurt could have not heard them yet. I wonder if this statement is more of a reference to U2 and Depeche Mode. The dominant bands from the British Isles and Ireland at this point. It would have been interesting to hear Kurt's thoughts on bands like Oasis and Radiohead had he lived. The first Oasis album seems like a work that might would appeal to Kurt. The others probably not much. I do recall that Kurt loved a lot of Scottish bands of the day.. I wonder if he had heard My Bloody Valentine at this point.
I kno he was very particular about what he liked.. Never heard him mention u2 but i almost kno for sure I've heard him in a interview mention Depeche Mode, what he said i dont remember, but i kno Radiohead, Oassis, and Bush was starting to take off around 93' so he must of heard them, he was pretty hip to the new music of those times.
