Noel Gallagher is and always will be the brains and genius behind Oasis, but when I think of Oasis the first thing that enters my brain is Liam's voice. Such an iconic band that was and still is the soundtrack of my life. I miss them but I'm grateful I was alive during the Oasis era.

Oasis have definitely become more admired by American musicians as a whole than they have by British musicians. British musicians might more often use Radiohead or The Verve or The Stone Roses as their gold standard from the last 30/40 years.
I'd say Oasis took the proverbial torch that The Stone Roses were carrying. If there really are any British musicians still finding success in that genre it would probably be the Arctic Monkeys as the most popular. They were massively influenced by Oasis. Lesser sized artists like Kasabian and Jake Bugg too.
As a yank I love British rock n roll. Beatles. Stones. Zep. The Smiths. Oasis, Pistols, Bowie...on and on and on, but the Roses? I could never quite get it. Even tried recently. “Adored”? Overrated. There’s like no verses, not that that matters, but it doesn’t do much. IDK. Long live British Rock N Roll.
Yes, written by Noel, he owns them. He did everything. He composed the music, created the melodies and made backing tracks for each musician and showed them, literally, "It goes like this". He wrote all the lyrics and sat with the producer and engineer while making the albums white the other guys goofed off until Noel called them in for their bits. That is why Noel owns them, he is the only one who receives the publishing royalties and Liam can not perform them without Noel's permission and if Noel does give Liam permission, Liam has to pay Noel for singing HIS songs.

You do not need to personally ask for permission to perform another songwriter's work at a live show, as concert venues are responsible for obtaining a blanket license from their local PRO(s) to ensure the legal status of songs that are played within their premises.

All I can say is by the time their mam passes on Noel will regret no getting the band back together at least once to put a smile back on her face and think "My boys are back together again"

If Noel hadn't had the lens to direct his songs he would have been a semi successful songwriter. Inversely without Noel, Liam woulda been a memorable singer. It would not have been this force nature we call Oasis. One needed the other unquestionably.
For Richard Ashcroft to say “Best rock voice in decades” is about as high of praise as you can get. He’s also ridiculously humble as The Verve are one of the most influential British rock bands of the last 30 years.

Liam and Noel may not like this, but they both remind me of John Lydon. Just in the way that they are both straight forward, with zero bullshit. They don't answer questions the way they think you want, they answer honestly. That's what makes a true rock star in my opinion. Rock isn't about "right" answers; it's about saying what you've got to say in the most direct, honest way you can. No one does this better than Lydon, Liam, and Noel.

I find it so sad that Liam and Noel’s Music can bring so many people together but they’re so far apart as brothers. For me personally oasis are the last real rock band to come out of England not just because of the music but they’re personality and attitude.
Umm hello? Nirvana? Radiohead? Weezer? RHCP? Or even Guns N Roses? In my opinion Oasis don’t even fall into the top 10 bands of the 90s. I just personally think there were a lot of bands who were doing the whole Oasis thing and doing it better. I respect Noel’s vision as an artist but Liam totally dragged the band down and I think the band would be miles better without him. Noel had a better voice and if Noel was just a rhythm player and they got a decent lead guitarist to fill in I rate Oasis would’ve been a lot better.

Oasis broke up because Liam is a child that can't control his emotions (see also the accusations of DV).
@@thenewyearsgrinch To be fair Noel first broke Liam's guitar so Liam says. Also there all this underlying tension because Noel was making way more and wouldn't let Liam sell his gear at concerts. I've written a lot about this, but I come to the conclusion that this was a draw with no winners.
NoelPotatoVEVO yeah I’ve seen it so many times with big acts, they all have ex wife’s but I’ll give you a few examples: Guns and Roses, The Police, Rage against the machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin were never going to tour again after Bonham but they did, but the best to last S club 7 yes they are back lmao.
Nothing lasts forever let's leave Oasis to their glory days of 1995-7. They are middle aged now and wouldn't be the same..I want to remember young, hungry, fresh Oasis!

I feel that the reason Hawkins and the Foo Fighters said that there should be an Oasis reunion is because it was an easy way to get a British crowd on their side and Noel probably saw that and responded with saying the Foo Fighters should split up as it was a pretty cheap way of sympathising with the Reading crowd.

But every Brit knows Oasis and the fact that they also share their love for Oasis was the easier way to relate to a mostly British crowd. Wish I could have been alive in this era, everyone seems to have such shit taste at my age (19-20) Thankful I grew up with my mam who adored the Beatles and oasis, just growing up with them songs, but never knowing the names of them for so long, I eventually got old enough to figure em out for myself, and that moment where I heard Some Might Say again, at 12 this time, I’ve never loved a band more. The new stuff from Liam is to the spirit, not a fan of noels twist on career but hey, we’ll always have oasis and their music to listen to for hopefully another lifetime

@@conormcguire3265 Liam tried to hit him with a guitar. To be honest, in any working relationship under any circumstances a reasonable person would say 'I'm Out'. But because 'its 'rock'n'roll' he has to stick around? And as Taylor points out Noel has all the songwriting royalties so he doesn't need a reunion. Oasis broke up because Liam is a child that can't control his emotions (see also the accusations of DV).

@@thenewyearsgrinch To be fair Noel first broke Liam's guitar so Liam says. Also there all this underlying tension because Noel was making way more and wouldn't let Liam sell his gear at concerts. I've written a lot about this, but I come to the conclusion that this was a draw with no winners.

I feel that the reason Hawkins and the Foo Fighters said that there should be an Oasis reunion is because it was an easy way to get a British crowd on their side and Noel probably saw that and responded with saying the Foo Fighters should split up as it was a pretty cheap way of sympathising with the Reading crowd.

But every Brit knows Oasis and the fact that they also share their love for Oasis was the easier way to relate to a mostly British crowd. @@sammckiernan9315 i was also there, in the thick of the crowd and they were singing along to every word. because of his history at the festival dave grohl is hugely respected by many reading goers/people in the alternative community, i don't think he needs to get anyone "on side". i genuinely just think they were saying what everybody else is thinking, out of love for oasis

Thankful I grew up with my mam who adored the Beatles and oasis, just growing up with them songs, but never knowing the names of them for so long, I eventually got old enough to figure em out for myself, and that moment where I heard Some Might Say again, at 12 this time, I’ve never loved a band more.
