The Alabaster Lord to Radahn: “Ah yes, the demigod Radahn is here to expand his warrior capabilities”
Radahn: nah, I just wanna ride my horsey again
Leonard's duties are done when Leonard decides they are done -- and Leonard's heart is far too hard working to give up. Small things like physics can be abstracted.
I can see this being an awesome comic.
"Congratulation, General Radahn. Your training is complete. You may now ride your tiny horse as you please."
"Thanks, imma hold every constellation in existence in stasis indefinitely now."
"What?"
"What?"
2 weeks later: "... and that's what stars really are."
Radagon: "BRB, going to roll an intimidate check vs the cosmos."
No one questions if Leonard is dead or not. Pretty sure he is after Radan re-enacted the sts-51-L challenger landing.
I love how diverse the lands between are. It gives us so many places to go in future dlc.
Bro it took elden ring over a year to be somewhat close to finishing their first dlc, I don’t think there will be another after the current one anytime soon
@@keeghanbpr hey if we get another dlc that is as massive as this one looks to be, I can wait.
@@twizz13r24 Nah, for a company this big to take that long for a dlc. They shouldn't need that much time, sekiro did not get any dlcs, and I think elden ring will be slow in production.
@@keeghanbpr But I've still not run out of things to do in the game and that's with the PvP being the worst since DS1.
@@keeghanbpr they actually care about their DLC so of course they’re going to take their time
I think the best part of them is that besides fighting us, they're portrayed as pretty chill dudes
The Ancestor Followers are the same way. They pretty much just vibe with Animals as long as we aren't messing with them
@@ArcAngle1117 Fromsoft really should add neutral creatures in the game. The only reason I kill the Ancestrals is because they snipe me first.
@@pillarmenn1936
There are very few instances of neutral enemies in the game. The two best examples are some of the soldiers in Elphael and most of the rotted corpses leading up to Mohg's room. And speaking more about the soldiers, there's this one greatsword soldier who's guarding the Finlay ashes with a Cleanrot knight, standing up, perfectly aware I was there and not reacting at all, even tho I was fighting said Cleanrot knight right in front of him
When you kill the newly arrived alabaster lord in Weeping Peninsula the craters around him lose their glow. Of the star creatures the onyx and alabaster lords may be the weakest, but their powers are no less potent.
@@Bruh-kl1fr I think they have the most "human" intelligence. Certainly very smart, but smart in a way that humans are smart. Capable of tools, scholarship and abstract thought. Capable of talking and understanding humans and seeing value in doing so.
Whereas something like the Elden Beast is probably thinking the thoughts of eons - animalistic, maybe, but long term and widely scoped in a way that human beings can't fathom.
EDIT: Also it's worth noting that the Elden Beast is a five fingered beast, the Cinquedea states that five fingers is a symbol of intelligence among beasts.
@Onyx Fallingstar Beast is how FromSoft finally got the bull archetype right for a boss fight.
They lose their true power due to the fact this is not their world. This is the world of the greater will. According to the Golden Mask, people think the greater will left but those deep in tuned with faith can have a dialogue with the greater will. It seems the greater will had a grand time talking with Golden Mask. The conclusion of the conversation between a human and a celestial being? Well the greater will sees that when controlling peoples and creatures will will not lead to the world of peace it envisions. Ranni and the snow witch fights to remove this control the erd tree and the greater will has over free choice. So what does the mask and the will do at the end? The order is perfected. No more outside influence. The people now have the will to seek out their own fate. Cycle of life and death is returned. No more rot. No more blood mother. No more death birds. No more astral rulers. This is why the onyx and alabasters hardly has any power and why the outter lords need a prophet to represent them: because the greater will is so powerful as soon as you enter it’s home, you feel oppressed and weak.
@@crackededge9351sekiro had good bull bosses
@@prestongreenbay6336that bull fight was a pain in my neck
alabaster lord: “alright, you’ve mastered gravity magic, what will you do now?”
radahn: “ride my horse.”
lord: “uh huh, an admirable goal, but anything else?”
radahn: “hold the stars in place until i die.”
lord: “ok that’s a very goo-wait what the fuck?”
There is a noble reason behind why he does that though, it's to prevent the literal genetic freaks of stars known as "Fallingstar Beasts" (Astel is a fully matured version of such beast) from landing on the Lands Between after the destruction that Astel brought about (the last part about Astel being directly connected to it may be wrong, if anyone here knows the lore better feel free to correct me)
@miningmole403 well we have two types, astels varient, and the bison like quadripedal varients. Both with adult and adolescent examples of their species
@@gunsevenwhillans420 Doesn't the Elden Beast have a similar origin?
@@dox5520 It does, although unlike Fallingstar Beasts who are completely on their own, the star from which the Elden Beast appeared was sent down by the Greater Will, and the beast itself acts as a sort of extension of the Greater Will's will, similarly to the Two Fingers. Also the Elden Beast made a lot bigger of an impact upon the planet, teaching the beastmen who came before humans that Greater Will exists and in the future probably being responsible for the drastic changes done to the Primordial Crucible but that has nothing to do with it's origin. The fact that it came from a star, similarly to Fallingstar Beasts, however, could imply that Sorcery and Incantations have the same roots.
@@gunsevenwhillans420 I see, thank you for clearing that up!
If only their poise is half as badass as their lore, they would've been cooler 😂
And they weren't so slow
And if they didn’t wear diapers
So don't go naked😂
If they weren't, they'd be terrifying, think about it
Yeah, my r1 attacks poise broke them in like 5 hits and I was using Lordsworn greatsword
These lore shorts are huge w's! Thanks Fextra you the man.
The world of Elden Ring is basically “what if every folktale, old wives’ tale, alien conspiracy theory, boogeyman, and bedtime story were all just true”
It's not just Elden Ring. I think these pretty much evolved from the creatures in Island's Edge before fighting the Storm King in Demon's Souls. But that area is a huge diversion from eveyrthing else in the game. That area feels like spmething straight out of a sci fi movie and even the final boss the Storm King Demon looks like an alien aircraft. That one seems to be the most out of place area in the whole game. In Elden Ring it feels much better and more natural to have these beings especially with their fleshed out lore.
Miyazaki is an absolute GENIUS with this one. He's pulling a Terraria. If you have Fantasy, Sci Fi, and Ancient Magic, a gravity magic wielding horse riding god that crushes stars won't look out of place in your game
What do you mean by pulling a terraria? never played it.
@@sepehrpourmalek4779 its a game that has enemies from every genre, cowboy? desert biome, mythological creature? underworld and blight. aliens? space. whatever creature you create, no matter how weird, it will never be out of place
@@SoulSif damn sounds cool
@@sepehrpourmalek4779 it's 2d dark souls with a fully destructible world.
Kinda like hollow night but the land can be broken.
@@disparu6007 Even more dark souls if you put Calamity or Fargo or any of the harder mods
The golden eyed one is such a nice touch for this mini lore videos.
Not only he stole the fate of people from their stars, but he also halt the movement of the star, this not only make him the nemesis of Ranni the witch whose fate was sealed from the star. But also Miquella, who wants to bring about the eclipse in order to revive Godwyn
Spot on
This didn’t age well
swing and a miss
All that training and Radahn still gets taken down by a naked guy rolling around with a wooden club and strength build
I like how all 3 of them accidentally gave the shadow dragon something which lead to their own defeat. Twobold healed him, Louis gave him a copy of GTA 6, and Fish gave him a girlfriend. They really just gave this dragon a lavish life
I really wish the DLC would take us back to when everything was about to crumble, all demigods are still at their prime. But I have a feeling they want to deliver on Godwin and Miquella.
you were kinda close
Alabaster lord: we can teach you to fling rocks and pull enemies in close
Radahn: do you think I can make the world stop spinning?
I think I can make the world stop spinning.
Skin made of stone with the poise of a wretch
This footage is too good what the hell
Love it because Alabaster and Onyx, despite come with same appearance, they have different Weapons and different mastery of Gravitational (One mastery of Pulling, and other mastery of Pushing). Now I really love it that controlling pull and push really manipulate a gravity is awesome
I've always wondered WHY Radahn held back the stars. Like, he would rather fight Malenia to the death than release them and even acter losing his mind he held them back.
But WHY? What reason did he have to go so far when we know the only change after he let them go was a big hole in Eastern Limgrave.
Might be answered in a dlc
Sellia is prophesied to be destroyed by them. We find a Sword Monument mentioning it, how he saved Sellia. He doesn't want another Nokron to happen.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Makes sense. Cool.
I think it has to do with the stars often carrying destructive creatures with them, like the falling star beasts, or Astel which destroyed Nokron.
Seemingly, because Ranni needed him to in order to survive the Night of the Black Knives.
I have always thought that these two enemies represented an interesting dichotomy within the game's lore. Alabaster Lords are pale in color, primarily utilize pulling gravity magic and wield sword that are blue/white in color. Onyx lords are dark in color, use pushing gravity magic and their swords are gold in color.
Gold is regularly associated with the golden order, white/blue could be referental to the Moon/Glintstone which are associated with the Carians and Raya Lucaria. This somewhat tenuous connection in combination with their opposing magical techiques makes me wonder if the Alabaster and Onyx Lords were once at war but were reconciled/conjoined like Caria/Raya Lucara and the Erdtree were.
"I thank you for your tutelage. I may now challenge the Stars."
Let's not forget he learned it solely to be able to ride his sickly horse 😂
Im sure everyone knows that by now
@@corynthius8860 ik, it's still funny tho
@@corynthius8860 hence let's not forget lol
When the Navi forget to use sunscreen:
Alabaster lords' gravity magic pulls stuff in, while Onyx lords' magic pushes stuff away. That's how Radahn pulled down stars and challenged them.
Interesting how many of the demigods had some kind of unnamed tutor or patron; Ranni's white witch, Mohg's outer god etc
Mohg's outer god is the Formless Mother. It's not unnamed.
@@Urd-VidanFormless Mother, but yes.
@@TheStraightestWhitest thanks 👍
Ranni’s tutor isn’t unnamed, it’s Renna. Her whole appearance in-game as a doll is modeled after the snow witch Renna she met in the woods (Ranni’s clothing item descriptions).
Malenia was trained by a master swordsman who was blind.
These are one of the mobs George R.R. Martin designed! It’s so cool how much lore was created
Bro wtf. I have spent so much time playing the game & more time looking up lore & guides & this is the first time that im coming learning about these guys. This game honestly needs like just something more to help find & track quest. Man I love it.
A Young Radahn in training with his Alabaster Lord.
That is something i want to see
What I love about this is that Radahn ended up learning how to defy and control the stars themselves just so that he wouldn't have to part with his noble steed and best friend.
Great short you packed a lot of info in this
When you find the lords, there's very often a meteor impact site nearby. The lords very well may have been the metoers themselves.
Same with at least one of the Fallingstar Beasts as well.
@@isaacbruner65Astels are definitely stars though. But I wonder why they have named one of the astel as Natural born of the void because Space is not void.
Can't imagine how confused the Lord must of been when Radahn brought up the main reason he wanted to learn gravity magic. Makes you wonder what kind of society they derived from to not deny Radahn the chance being he wanted to learn such powerful magic for what they would probably think is a ridiculous reason. I hope their lore gets expanded on with Shadow of the Erdtree.
They probably thought it as “noble” but mainly he didn’t come to them seeking power for the sake of power. A lack of malice.
Seeing him as a student with pure intentions… now whether he was right in stopping the stars I’ve no actual idea…. So maybe they were wrong
@@DS-wl5pk "stop the stars"? That's not the reason Radahn wanted to learn gravity magic.
@@Microsoft-Excel-2010He didn't say it was the reason why Radahan learnt gravity magic. He ended up doing that anyway.
Must have*
I feel like Radahn is just a child that hit puberty one day and grew 1000x his child size
That’s essentially what happened
Radahn is deffinitly the coolest character ever made by From Software.
Employees: So what kind of theme are we going for in elden ring??
Miyazaki: Aliens
Employees: what??
*insert alien meme guy here*
He did that in DeS as well. That whole area before the storm king and those giant beings are very much precursors to Alabaster Lords.
Bruh there is so much lore to this game its insane i love it!!!💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
The guy that spawns in that one area in Rays Lucaria SCARED the SHIT outta me when he spawned in. They look so menacing 😢
interesting that you can only obtain the blade of death after beating radahn, as if him holding the stars at bay was the one thing stopping you from retrieving the blade for ranni, sealing the fate of the age of the stars
He either did it because
1. He switched loyalties, and now favored the golden order over his carian lineage, so he wanted to sabotage them.
2. He was still loyal to his family, so he wanted to protect Selia from another Astel attack, given that this town is the last place in the overworld with leftover Nox people. Who the Golden Order hates
The closest Sekiro enemies we get in Elden Ring.
The gravity magic also comes from them as they can shoot gravity orbs out of their hands. Gravity magic is part of their lifeforce. They meteor that struck was the one which cause Farum Azula to be suspended in the sky in the tornado beyond time.
holy shit they have pupils?!
I love the visuals used in this video, and the explanations are very new player friendly, great work !
If these badboys had some decent poise, they'd truly be menacing.
I thought of these guys as incredibly strong space vampires inspired me to create something like the alabaster lords but more vampiric
"Try love, only index finger requires ahead"
You can tell George R.R Martins was the one who thought these guys up lol.
Them thinking Radahn is learning gravity magic to conquer the stars but in actuality its just for continuing riding his beloved horse and conquering the stars was a by product of that
Thanks so much for this post. These are one of my favorite characters in the world and I've always wondered about the lore behind it.
Radahan is such a badass my favorite fight in a video game of all time so far
These shorts are 🔥
I don’t think i ever fought any of these types of enemies in the whole time I’ve played this game lol
Not only did Radahn stole the fate of people from their stars, but he also halt the movement of the it, this not only make him the nemesis of Ranni the witch whose fate was sealed from the star. But also Miquella, who wants to bring about the eclipse in order to revive Godwyn
Little interesting tidbit is that Alabaster and Onyx lords each use a DIFFERENT type of gravitational magic. One uses pulling forces and the other repelling forces. That combined with the symbol for gravitational magic and some of the Japanese words used for that type of magic give it a tint of more “magnetism” than outright gravity !
Some of this lore just makes me wish we could see, how the Lands between were before the shattering.
Can TOTALLY see this related to Kevin The Cube
Praise the message
All the more Fort Night
This video is sick. Love the lore breakdown.
These lords are way to strong for my fist play through 😢,but I did wonder who was that giant purple creature I ran away from.
that's weird because the game absolute did them dirty
no poise
piss stagger EZ despite having skin of stone in their lore (which supposed they MUST get very high poise but From said nope)
low health and damage despite BEING NAMED FEARED LORDS WTF
EZ dodgable and telegraphed
@@kaiserdetectivegolden2735 I agree with you, but the way I look at it. Is I think about their past. They became weak over time, but I believe they used to be much stronger in their glory days.
@@HijihihihuhuhuhGlory days has nothing to do with it. Many people emphasize this point so much that they forget the real theme behind souls games. The underlying theme about a naked dude beating the $h!t out of these primordial beings is "struggle". I love how Miyazaki has incorporated death into the gameplay as a mechanic and in game lore as well. Point is player's character never gives up and always comes back stronger whether it is stat wise or skill wise. The real game over is when you give up. Everything is basically stronger than you at that point. But as long you keep on struggling nothing whether in it's prime or old age is stronger than player character. And another thing is it is a game basically meant to be played learnt and enjoyed.
@@kaiserdetectivegolden2735The real fun is that they can be parried as well. And landing a parry in these enemies is piss easy. Just press the parry button as soon as they are done with their gravity pull magic and wham parry.
Radahn really had beef with the stars with this one
I kinda wish I lived in this universe. Just dying over and over and over with hardly any consequences..
Despite all the pain and suffering that Elden inflicts on me, there story and depths are always amazing to explore and learn
Poor radahn… dude literally festering away in his own armor and driven to madness yet even still held the stars up for us.
Ancient Aliens: ALIENS! THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS ALIENS!
I wish that we could create an alabaster lord character with the pointed ears. it would be so freaking cool
I love that when said “meteor strike” you showed Radhan’s second stage.
And some nitwit with magic artifacts and respawns can beat them all
Bruh
I love that there are just aliens in Elden Ring, like yeah they come from space what about it
These guys look like some sort of morbid elves. The sharp ears, jawlines, frames.... Definitely one of my fav enemies.
Can you please do one about the Beings that linger around the Zamor ruins in the mountaintops of the Giants
i didn't even know they existed I've never seen em
Super cool and quick lore video! I’ll admit, I’ve never seen them that detailed and up close before
Radahn‘s Starcaller Cry, is an Alabaster Lord’s attraction followed by an Onyx Lord’s Repulsion. He did not only mastered the magic, but the skills as well.
Game cinematography is top notch
Bro took star wars to a different level im starting to hesitate fighting radahn on my 5th go
The fact that radahn 1v1’d the entirety of space is so badass
There's a surprising amount of 2H swords with int scaling on them. Only reason I wouldn't do a run with them is because there's so few sorceries that are genuinely interesting.
They are the coolest side bosses they would’ve been perfect if they didn’t have low poise
I wish there was more lore on them. They are super interesting
Idk what lore you imagined, it's pretty simple tbh, they're rock people born through a metorstrike and they control the magic that created them
@@_Chaosnight_ I mean they are a mysterious people from space that the people feared so much they called them lords
@@totallynotbrucewayne6215 what gets me is that they lived in the cities with other people but we don't even see one talk, i wish we'd at least meet one friendly npc of each race in elden ring since so many of them seemed to live together in peace at one point or another
He wasn’t known as starscourge when he learned gravity magic he was referred as that when he got mad by the scarlet rot that’s why he is a starscourge
I really like that you started with lore videos. Looking forward for more :)
Sometimes I forget stars are literal suns light years away💀
Now that I see they are alive I no longer fear them
This video's beautiful 🥹
I really wish we could get a prequel game that lets us play through a lot of the lore I know it’s not really fromsofts style but I really want to see the events and how the lands between was before the shattering I also think it be pretty cool to play a fromsoft game where like almost everything doesn’t try to kill you
Rahdans teacher could be the very same lord we see in the Academy that players may skip because they take the elevator platform up
I haven’t ever wondered about these no, but it was nice to hear :)
The close ups got me weak lol, faces is saying “ You guys are fucked now” 😂
Radahn learned gravity magic at Raya lucaria when he was still small just so he could ride Leonard but he mastered it later on in life
The stars: "we control your fate"
Radahn: *uno reverse card*
So that's why they fought.
they may be influencing the Higgs boson which may be the gravity particle
Or as i call them ooga booga man 😂
So these guys are actually sick but overlooked due to the sheer volume of enemies we have
Having aliens in epic fantasy world of Elden Ring is so like George Martin (if you read his short novels, you know it). One of his influences, for sure.
I think you haven't seen that area before Storm King in DeS. That area is so undemonsoul like. It is the area that clearly feels out of place in a game like DeS. Those creatures and even the storm king itself look like alien creatures. So may be GRRM designed or wrote these but the idea was already there. In fact I was pleasantly surprised to finally see any area or at least semblance of a few characters as a nod to DeS.
They’re like dark elves. Very cool.
I did took some inspiration from these creatures for some of my work
Elden Ring’s story/lore: Whatever the fuck Miyazaki wanted.
Radahn is dressed exactly like Magnus the Red from Warhammer 40k that’s kinda crazy
His obvious inspiration is King Geisric from Berserk.
skin of stone while getting staggered by a dagger
That one Alabaster lord in the lake of Rot yeah..I need all the smoke with that one!
