I have traveled and explored this area so much over the years in a truck but this was a real treat! Thank-you for the fantastic ride from the air. WOW!
...Nice,....I used to fly out of Chwk.....Then Courtenay........Even flew UNDER the Agassiz Rosedale Bridge(at 5:39)......Sat on top of Mt Cheam(at 6:01).....Memories.....Thanks....I would fly up before dawn and watch the sunrise over the mountains,...descend, and watch it again, and again....If I found someone wandering around the airport before I left, I would invite them along.....share the gift.......CF-RGD
Thanks for posting your return trip. Enjoy learning your cross country techniques. And as a 172 owner, I can only marvel at your speeds - I'd have to be in a power-on dive to see those numbers...
You should! When I first moved here 7 years ago I thought anyone who flew an airplane in this province must be crazy… now I can’t think of a better place to fly
you must have been very scared when those mountains jumped out so close to you ! Hope you noticed the snow & that big river jumping up at landing. Very pretty tho & amazing capture. Like the radio calls
Love all your videos. Subscribed. Love your calm demeanor and learning a lot watching your videos. In final steps of getting my PPL, flying out of Pitt Meadows. One day, once I get my wings, I'll fly down to Kamloops to shake your hand. 👍
@How I Fly You're most welcome here. We've got a new terminal building, and I heard the new Restaurant just opened today, so the Burger's on me. If you ever stay the night, then we've got our neighborhood micro brewery, too. Let me know if you plan. :)
You got my sub today. You took me back to my PPL days. Many departures off that same runway, but the landscaping was much different, off the departure end it was endless hop fields, kind of dated me doesn't it. Moved up north the YXJ in 1980 and didn't come back down until the late 80's. Turned the corner at Hope and ran into a brown wall that really couldn't be called VFR. I can't believe how clear it was for you last week. Thank you.
Yeah, I remember the hop fields,...and Friendly Mike's Pub off the west end of the runway......Ever fly into Harrison Mills to visit the Sasquatch Inn (for lunch)....I tied down there for a while, living right beside the strip....CF-RGD
@@brentgalye2936 Nice to hear,....I was living there about 1980, when it hadn't changed for about 50 years,....Even had a Winchester over the bar,...and the barkeep was a young fellow named Scot....The local post office was attached to the west end and I remember when Mel Nelson (the postmaster) was murdered at his home on Mt Woodside in front of his mother......My Dad had the first house on the right as you came off the bridge, so I tied down at the strip (on Pretties land) long before the golf course.....One of Clifford Olson's victims was found at Weaver Creek behind Dad's property........But, I sure liked living there.....Now I'm in Comox, everyone's gone and everything's changed......
What a beautiful trip! It's amazing to see the route followed by the Kettle Valley Railway, the only route that would have worked. You'd think they must have had divine guidance to find that route. Such fine views of the lower Fraser Valley. Would be interesting to see the same area when the river's in flood.
20 years ago, I flew from Boundary Bay Airport in Delta to Chilliwack Airport. I remember the pie in the Chilliwack airport being very good and was wondering if they still sell those!
40 years ago I flew to Boundary Bay for coffee....Flying over all the lit up greenhouses on the way back was always a treat....Loved early morning and late evenings, the air was so smooth....CF-RGD
Great areal views. I would like to hear some air temps at different elevations. 9,500 ft. must be pretty chilly. Do you have good heat for the cockpit ? Thanks
Yes the plane does have a heater...there is a shroud that goes over the exhaust pipes, and that heat is piped into the cabin. The general "rule of thumb" for temperatures is 2 degrees celcius decrease per 1000 ft of altitude. Kamloops is ~1100 above sea level, so if the temperature is 20 degrees, I climb to 9500 (8400 above ground), the temperature should be somewhere near 3 degrees celcius. Good question!
Quick question... I often work on my buddy's tree farm in Chilliwack and can hear small planes flying overhead and often you can hear the engine cut out for a bit and then get restarted... .. . What is the reason .. ? Flight school training..?
appreciate the connection to Vancouver; more like what I get going in and out of Toronto. But what was the last word he said? “one twenty five seven and ....???”
My wife doesn’t like flying near as much as me so most of the time the passenger seat is empty. After we’re all vaccinated I’m hoping to have a passenger more often.
If you fly around 8:00 pm to kamloops, if you look at the field with the crappy park in the trailer park you might see me swinging my arms around like a dumbass
Beautiful! Chilliwack sure has grown since my days in the Canadian Forces. Three decades of growth, to be precise. I've never seen it from the air, though. I was Armour Corp Reconnaissance. So, I drove everywhere. 😁 I remember picturesque scenery, regardless of which road I took. Thanks for uploading! This brought back memories. 🍺😋👍
how to cut a 3.5 hour drive to 10 minutes but spend 3x 🤣 Still cool though, pretty sure I watched you fly out a few days ago. sitting on my deck facing north east towards bridal falls. Stay safe pilot ✌🔥
Hi Dale..would love to say hi the next time you're in Abbotsford or Chilliwack! Former Cache Creek resident...I miss Kamloops!
Sounds good. It’ll be not too long after the smoke goes away
@@HowIFly Im retired so can come to the 'wack whenever!

Simply AMAZING! I’d love to fly in B.C one day
You should! When I first moved here 7 years ago I thought anyone who flew an airplane in this province must be crazy… now I can’t think of a better place to fly
Your airmanship is totally professional, and the aircraft is amazing. Vans RV's have always intrigued me. Thanks for sharing the flight!
Thanks so much
Great video! My father and uncle work at Western Aerial in Chilliwack. Amazing it only takes 20 minutes to get to Kamloops by plane.
More like 45 minutes but yes, definitely quicker!

Or maybe I’ll come to Pitt? I’ve done almost no flying in the lower mainland

There's no time like the present...nobody wants regrets

Thanks for both flights, to Chilliwack and home again. Thoroughly enjoyed them!
Thanks!
Beautiful sights, Dale. Great shout-out! Thanks!
Thanks as always Jeff

Trying to!
Do you take passengers?😌
Smooth air
Wasn’t too bad. Got very choppy descending into Kamloops, but that’s normal!
At 6:02 you can see our PG launch on Bridal. At 11:20 you could almost see my place on the Fraser.

Awesome views Cheam dude , that was sardis u flew over to be technical
Still flies from the airport in Chilliwack, and Sardis itself, is part of Chilliwack....
I always get mixed up from Sardis and Yarrow.
Quick question... I often work on my buddy's tree farm in Chilliwack and can hear small planes flying overhead and often you can hear the engine cut out for a bit and then get restarted... .. . What is the reason .. ? Flight school training..?
Most likely simulated engine failure. Teaches the skills to land in the event the engine quits, and it’s always simulated for safety
Miss my RV4 😭 great video
appreciate the connection to Vancouver; more like what I get going in and out of Toronto. But what was the last word he said? “one twenty five seven and ....???”
The controller? I think it was 125.7 in range
How do you turn the remote cameras on/off? With your smartphone?
I just turn them on and let them run. I installed USB plugs under the wings so I don’t have to worry about the batteries dying

@@HowIFly So far I only hope to fly in mfs2020 so.....🥸”my friend” said to suggest him! 🤓🤪😛
How many ft were you at over the mountains?
I flew at 9500 above sea level so it depends on the height of the mountain. Usually at least 2000 ft above, usually more
Sooo... One thing I wanna know.... Did you get one of the Chilliwack Airport's slices of famous pie while you were on the ground?
I did not. Next trip for sure
