I still get watery-eyed when watching the Blues story. I grew up in a family from Montreal and Boston, so you can believe the rivalries and badmouthing I'd witnessed growing up. Up until I was 7 years old, I'd just watched the Habs every other night with my dad. Growing up in Montreal, and stuck between the worlds of two hockey team giants, I was barely even a fan of the sport. All of that changed one night when I saw the Habs versus the Blues. I don't even remember the score or outcome. All I remember is seeing Pronger sending Habs players flying at the line and hitting those slapshots like no one I'd even seen. Al, Pierre and Chris, and the blue golden-trimmed jerseys made me not only a Blues fan, but a hockey fan as well. At 14 years old, I got a job and got my dad to pay for a satellite TV package just so that I could watch the Blues play as our sports channels always blacked them out. I'd recently moved near Detroit with no friends or family around. I watched every single Blues game alone in my living room. Just me and the TV. When the Blues finally hoisted the cup, I cried and cheered like a kid.
Lifelong Blues fan and I have followed that team since childhood. In 5th and 6th grade I had a classmate who's father was a Blues season ticket holder and she attended games with him since he never had a son but his daughter who was my classmate and best friend became a huge Blues fan (this was 1972-73, the Blues had great teams back then but could never get over the hump). Our friendship and love for each other was built around our love for the Blues and unfortunately my family moved away from MO to CA and I had to leave her behind and lost touch with her. Needless to say I was very devastated and her memory I always carried like an eternal flame burning in my heart. In July of 2012 I found her on Facebook on another friend's page and sent her a request, she immediately accepted and we reconnected and over time that flame once again grew and grew. I moved back to MO five months earlier in 2012 and she lived in FL and in 2014 I flew down there and saw her again. Since then we would travel and see each other once or twice a year, every time we would say "I love you" to each other. Earlier this month, we were on vacation in upstate NY and we watched games 6 and 7 of the finals together and we both fulfilled a dream of a lifetime, having the Blues win their first Stanley Cup and sharing that precious moment together. Naturally we were both in tears of great joy. Somethings are meant to be in this world and that was something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Sarah Jordan What a fantastic series. Sure, I’m happy as a Blues fan since the 60s. But I’ll never forget what an awesome, intense, hard and incredibly clean a series it was. No one should ever forget the grit and toughness the ageless Chara showed playing with a broken jaw. No one should ever forget the incredible goaltending from both teams. I have nothing but respect for the Bruins, although I’m so happy the Blues won the incredible series. Sadly, we all have three months to go before even thinking hockey again.
The BLues are freaking awesome, Being an OAKVILLE resident and a son who has played hockey for 24 yrs first at Affton than OAKVILLE hockey then Jrs then college. Skating with Patrick Maroon was his greatest honor. He was always just the best on this ice.
As a Lightning fan, yeah, I got teary-eyed watching this. They deserved this. After so many years, so much heartbreak, the Blues did it. I'm happy they won the Cup that year. The perfect ending to an incredible story. #PlayGloria
I see no one has replied. As a Blues fan, its unbelievable! I expected hell to freeze over. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for over a week. My buddies and I played Gloria for days. I didnt like the song in December. I'm riding this high all summer. Thanks for be a classy fan!
The blues in so many ways, pulled off what the kings achieved in 11-2012. That kings team, strangely gave me confidence during the blues 19 run. They reminded me so much of each other. I’m sure I’m not the only blues fan who thinks that. So from the stl, thanks LA for proving to us, all you gotta do is get there
Tarasenko V. I'm congrats you personally. We are proud of you in Russia! And we are missing you in a Russian Team! Big thanks all your partners from "Blues" Great job guys! You are amazing!
We are so happy and blessed to have him on our team and congrats to him on this third child, I have a friend who visited Russia during the playoffs and we thank you guys for your support of our teams over in Russia
That feeling I had when they lifted the cup was indescribable. As much as I want them to win it again and again which I know just isn’t possible. I sincerely hope that any fan base who has yet to see their team win the cup gets to lift it next because it’s a day in your life that you’ll love to tell your kids and your grandkids. I’ll never forget the night of June 12th, 2019
I attended their very first game in the Old Barn in 67. I was at all 3 of their finals the first 3 years with Scotty Bowman as coach. I didn't think I would ever get to see this. Thankful I did.
Being from Boston I was routing for Boston but personally, the only thing better than the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup was St. Louis winning the Stanley Cup. And we all had a sense of foreboding when we saw that Laila had come to Boston for game 7. When the TV cameras panned to Laila at the TD Garden, we all thought "This is not good, we are in trouble".
What an awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing this! I’m a Blues fan since day one. While I was sad to see Mike Yeo (who I knew as a player in Houston) lose his job, the amazing turnaround of the Blues was so incredible - something I’ll never forget and the best memory by far in my 52+ years of watching hockey. I know legends like Barclay Plager, Jacques Plante and the greatest hockey announcer of all time, Dan Kelly are smiling down from heaven. So here’s a ton of love to all of St. Louis from Houston, Texas, a ton of pride for the team and their miracle season, and as I wear one of my many Blues jerseys in our city, a big LETS GO BLUES from so many fans here in Texas. May we hear GLORIA play 100 times next season as the Blues repeat as the champions they are.
@@anakinskywalker4075 If you are the real #50 (and not someone posing as him on UA-cam), you have to know that what you accomplished during the playoffs is something legendary, deserving a special page in NHL history. I've never seen anyone play better between the pipes as you did in Game 7. And I've watched a lot of hockey since the mid-1960s! I still proudly wear my Blues gear here in Texas and my most favorite jersey is yours, with the Stanley Cup Champions patch on it. I only wish that you have a long career in the NHL and for the Blues. You absolutely rock!
60 years in St. Louis, and I've been waiting, and wondering, if ever. It brought tears to my eyes to read your comment. I've been to Texas many times, many parts, and I've always loved Texas. The people in Texas are a class act, and you just stepped it up a notch. Thank you.
Still can't believe the blues did it ! Beat the most balanced team in the league in 7 games! Congrats boys! You scrapped for it every shift ! You are the champs ! GLORIA !
From being counted out to making an improbable run at the cup. And through it all made it happen and probably made that little girl Laila and her family so excited and emotional too after all they been through. If that's not amazing storytelling, then I don't know what is. Much respect Blues from a Devils fan from Jersey. Also, awesome video and editing. Very well done!
Still gives me all the feels. What great memories that run gave us! Unbelievable feeling watching your favorite team for so many years finally win the cup!
Yeah, this gives a look at the overall tone of the organization. If you want a montage of playoff defeat leading up to the victory, try the Urinating Tree video he did ffor STL. That will bring back memories.
I dont care what anyone says, I've been watching hockey since I was a kid, im 28 now so almost 25 years of hockey. The 18-19 playoffs will forever be THE best post season of my life. Columbus slaying the giant that was Tampa in a 4 game sweep, the Islanders who 8 out of 9 sports journals picked to miss the playoffs sweeping the heavily favored and stacked Penguins, the Canes beating the reigning champ Caps in 2OT game 7, the fact that every single wild card advanced to the second round, the Sharks unprecedented come back in game 7 with the infamous 5 min major for the cross check on Pavelski that netted them 4 goals in 5 minutes against Fleury, one of the best goalies in the league, topped off by the Blues who were in dead last in the Central in January to come back with Berube and Binnington and outlast the heavily favored and far more experienced Boston Bruins to hoist the cup in a 7 game series. I mean.....just.....electric is the only word. I will remember that post season on my deathbed. There is NOT a drug on earth like playoff hockey.
2:41 I remember how close this was to ending our season with less than a minute left in game 7 but I had no idea Bouwmeester was the one who prevented it from going in. Wish more people could see this.
They get more people fired than the Cleveland Brown's 😂😂😂 wow now that was a low blow lmao. So glad this franchise won the cup, I'm a Canucks fan but I've been to STL and Missouri a couple times, I have friends who live there.
Man this just pumped me up for a Blues comeback this year. Maybe it’s just cause I follow the team so closely but I’m let down a lot cause I know just how much talent they’re working with. LGB!
i'm so glad we got to experience this right before covid. sad that covid happened though, blues were the best team in the league up until quarantine. could have won another.

the penguins need some help crosby aint helping them and hes the only one trying

It's actually just Brad Marchand. He made a bunch of fake accounts just to do it.
