You can see they would rather die on the ice then experience another disapointment again. From the moment they got over Columbus they only had one thing on their mind and that was the cup, step by step. For me this is one of the greatest stories in hockey in the past decades. I have watched the team struggle in playoffs in the past 4 or more years and what we saw this spring is something I will never forget. Thank you for the memories Caps.
You watch ovi and Backstrom and holtby and every year, their reaction gets worse. After the Pittsburgh series in 2017, the Caps really thought they were about to do it, presidents trophy, came back from a 3-1 deficit against the pens. On home ice for game 7 and then they got shut out. You saw ovis interview after, he didn’t think he’d ever make it past the second round. Backstrom reportedly was crying after the game, his dad trying to consol him. And watching all of their interviews, it looked like they were at a funeral. I’m glad they were able to do it this year. Not for me, for them
I also have to admit I have lost faith in Holtby during the regular season and wanted him to be traded. But he proved me wrong and made me look like a fool. I did not see this comeback coming but the more happy I´m that it happened. His save against Vegas was the last strike that really made me believe this is the year and nothing could change it.
The 2017 game 7 against Pittsburgh was probably the biggest heartbreak I've ever experienced as a sports fan, I really thought that was going to be our year. But after they came back from down 0-2 against Columbus I knew there was something different about last years' team. They were playing under fire the whole year, nobody was taking them seriously all year as cup contenders, the window had closed, should've traded Ovi/Backstrom/Holtby... that playoff run was all inspired by the motivation from the previous playoff failures and it was beautiful. Really the hockey version of the 2011 Mavs if you think about it.
Agree. I Love when teams like this win.. The teams who have been through the most pain, and who deserve it the most from just pure hard work & determination. Not just Talent.. It makes it so much more special.. Unlike the Spoiled teams like Pittsburgh who always get the best fuckin players in the world all on one team some how. One Era they got Lemieux and Jagr for 15 years! Next Era they got Crosby, Malkin, Kessel and the best damn goalie in the league Fleury.. Ridiculous.
I admit I’m not a Caps fan. For a while, I didn’t think too much of Ovie. But I had my head up my ass because he didn’t play for the team I root for. His expression when Bettman gave him the Cup says it all. He deserves it. Congratulations, Alex.
Zack Parker I completely agree, I’m glad you enjoyed. You weren’t alone in thinking that. Lots of fans didn’t think Ovi had what it takes to win a cup. They didn’t think he was a leader. It doesn’t help that the Canadian analysts (cherry, milbury) are very critical of him. I don’t think anyone is saying that anymore.
Very underrated.. all of his haters call him a 1 trick pony. Well 600 plus goals and 500 plus assists, I'll take that pony anyday!! 607 goals 515 helpers.
Sesshomaru _ He had so many clutch assists vs the Pens too. From the first goal of the series to the last goal both assists to Kuznetsov. Also that pass to Vrana to win Game 5 vs the Pens was sick.
Caps aren't my favourite team in the league but what a journey it was for you guys, the team and the city deserved it, what a great smile on Ovi's face, also screw the Penguins
As a pens fan, this is a great video. You can’t say you’re a hockey fan if you’re not proud of the caps for winning the cup this past season. Idk if it was the pain and determination that pushed them to win this, but they fought harder than anyone else and clearly deserved it more than Columbus, Pittsburgh, Tampa and Vegas.
After Washington beat us in overtime, I was a little disappointed. But not at all bitter. If it had to be any team to end our reign, I'm glad it was them and not the Flyers. Philly would have just destroyed their city and ate horse crap again like they did when the Eagles won.
And the greatest summer Cup parties ever. Plus they are assured to be the only team to do "Cupstands" (the keeper of the cup is not allowing those to be done ever again).
@@lelouchvibritannia4028 I agree that was the case before, but I'd say now it's Ovi to Backy because of their long shared history (11 years playing together and suffering in the postseason), and Backy played with a broken hand, meaning Ovi had to help him hold the Cup up.
I'm swedish and I don't really have any favorite NHL team but, seeing Ovechkin and Bäckström lifting that cup with the Capitals made me teary eyed. Loved it!
Ovechkin is one of the greatest all around hockey players of all time. Saying that not as a Caps fan, just been watching him since he started and every single goal he scores brings him the same energy and passion. Caps just made the cup more valuable because it's been held by greats like them.
As a Flyers fan, I like to think we get an assist on that Pens series win having tired them out for ya :P But seriously, I've never been happier to see an in-division team win the Cup. Ovi is hockey personified and I'm glad he finally got the hardware after all the work he's put in. Not to mention Backstrom is one of the most criminally underrated playmaking centers of all time.
As a Penguins fan I was extremely happy for the Capitals' fan base after this. All those years we gave it to them, and they handled it gracefully. They didn't throw beer and bracelets on the ice like fans in Philadelphia did. I do, however, agree word-for-word with what you said in your second paragraph.
I have been a Loyal Capitals fan since 1978. This team deserved to win. Over the years and countless disappointing losses in series we led 2-0,3-1 including the 4 OT loss to the Islanders I continued to follow this team. I dreamed of the day they would accomplish the ultimate prize! This team for this post season seemed more driven! Backstrom and Ovechkin finally got recognized for the great players they have always been since day one of them working together to accomplish the Ultimate Prize THE STANLEY CUP! We as loyal fans deserved this Magic Season and have been rewarded! Thank you Caps ! I have watched this video over and over and will continue to enjoy and Savor this GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!! Let's go Caps!!!
Jack Keith I was about to include the entire Ovi era but the video would’ve been like 35 minutes long. 2015-2017 were all tough endings, I felt so bad for the boys
seeing us lose in 2015 had me heartbroken but i’ve stuck with the caps and beloved in them knowing they could do it and when they did it elt so good to rub it in the penguin fans faces
What I love about it was that it looks as tho, once he touched it, he pretty much had control on it. It didn't bounce around or squirt free. It hit his hand & stick & then ice & that was it. Done.
Ovi's cross-ice backhand pass to Kuzy against Tampa was simply spectacular ... our of this world ... After many disappointing seasons, this playoffs was just an awesome time ...
This brings a tear to my eye, what a run 2018 was. The most complete caps roster in the ovechkin era i'd say. Holtby has been on fire, kuznetsov has been super natural, ovechkin has been ovechkin, wjat about DSP that probably played his career best hockey, all four lines contributed to the run. That was so satisfying to witness.
Very good video. The dramatic music, the clips of past defeats, interviews of saddened Ovi, and comments of sports analysts. The entire build up gives me chills
My dad has been watching the caps for 37 years and he was disappointed every year. 2018 I decided to start watching before the playoffs and got obsessed. When they one this year we were all so happy my dad has been waiting for this for so long. Love this team so much!!! GOCAPS

@@gregr771 dont worry we will. Hahaha it will come down to the pens and caps in round two for at least 2 more years. I wish the NHL did the reseeding format like they did before Winnipeg came into the league so the best teams dont play each other in the second round. Good luck to you guys too!
Greg R I cried so much when I saw that this year my nana past away and in my street hockey tour went I ended the game with the game winning goal for the win in the championship game I just dropped my stick through up my arms and cried
Between Joe B and Laughlin on TV and John Walton on the radio the Caps have an absolutely awesome pxp team. Waltons call on Kuzys Game 6 goal still gives me chills
Man, reliving these moments again, even in September now, this made me tear up. Happiest, best, most interesting storyline Playoffs of my entire life. and THE CAPS WON IT ALL!! ROCK THE RED!
This was crazy. I am a Cunucks van and never really payed much attention to the Capatils. But wow, practicly shed a tear from this amazing story. So happy for the team, and Ovi! congratulations boys.
I'm a Lightning fan, and losing the ECF hurt me so badly. But seeing Ovi lift the Cup, become a champion, it was a beautiful sight. He truly is gr8tness personified
I'm not even a Caps fan but I am so stoked this team won. It was frustrating to see a team with an unbelievably stacked team year after year fail to get anywhere, so this was very satisfying to watch.
Great video man... the 2 series that will stick out to me the most is finally vanquishing the demons in Pittsburgh and of course winning the cup in Vegas.. watching Ovi hoist that cup brought tears to my eyes. As a DC fan I honestly feel at peace and very happy that Ovechkin being one of the best players to play the game will have his name etched in the cup. LETS GO CAPSS
Of course, but every series this year was amazing. That just shows the Caps determination and heart. Every player had a key role in the championship and played well. It was so awesome to see Ovi’s reaction beating PIT TB and VGK. It shows how badly he wanted the cup
Man even before the Trotz era things were always up and down for this team. I’ll never forget 2010 either lol so happy Ovechkin and the caps got it done!
I rooted for the caps all the playoffs in 2018 as a habs fan. All Ive wanted that year was seeing the caps lift the cup and Ovi lifting it. It happened ! Congrats caps ! Well deserved !
Easily one of the most emotional couple of months of my life. I legit freaked out and cried like ten times during the whole thing and it lost my shit in that final game. Amazing amazing memories
Dude same! What a ride! I will admit, I'm kind of a bandwagon since I started watching the Caps play in the 2018 playoffs. However, I did know about all of their brutal losses in the playoffs, so I decided that I would start watching them. Turns out, I should watch them even more lol 😂😂😂. So happy for Ovi
Sweetest Stanley Cup win in the history, by far. The passion was incredinble, the hunger, the years long suffering was finally rewarded. Greatest moments in sports history!
I apologize for commenting on all these caps videos. It’s just that I admire Ovechkin’s drive to push through the adversity and remain calm as long as he did. He played. He loves the game. And finally he won the cup. They’re not even my team but I’m so proud of them
Caps deserved to win the cup for quite a few seasons now, especially Ovie!! I'm happy for them and that the hockey Gods delivered justice. Pittsburgh are whining cheaters and Vegas didn't have the time in or the clout deserved for a cup win.
My Name Is Sparky That was one of the best moments in Caps history. I legitimately couldn’t believe it happened either. I thought something would happen that it would get called back, he went offsides or something
Go back and watch that play again from the backside angle and just watch Ovie. It's like he's frozen...he knew it was in Kuzy's hands and he explodes when it goes through.
Davey Givens Not only that, there was a slight delay because you can’t actually see the puck go in from the tv angle and doc doesn’t get it right away, but you heard a loud scream just a half a second before doc said “SCOAR”, I think that was ovi
Mine is Ovie picking the puck from Sid in the first place and then making that pass. The two things ppl criticize movie for not doing enough even though he's always been this guy.
People that were complaining about the how the seeds work in the playoffs all I kept saying was “you gotta beat the best to be the best” and finally the capitals beat the penguins and went on to win the cup.
Darian Canada Exactly man, you can complain all you want but that’s not gonna change anything. I think it’s kind of cool because it forces you to beat your division rivals and really makes the playoffs more rivalry based. We only played PIT once before they changed it and now we got 3 amazing series in a row
It was always mental with this team, they always have had the talent to get it done and the past 3 years the Pens and Caps have been the best teams in the league. When they got over the Pittsburgh hurdle it was inevitable and I'm telling you now, they're going to win it again. The only thing stopping them from going back to back are injuries. There isn't a better top 6 in hockey, they have all the young talent in the world and their blue line is strong. Factor in Holtby and you have a team that can win the cup again.
As a Caps fan since 06, I still come back to this video from time to time. All I wanted was to see one cup. Good christ, that season was special. And the parade was one of the coolest experiences of my life
This was amazing. Wonderful video my friend. Every time they show the caps winning the Stanley cup or the Kuznetsov goal in Pittsburgh I get goosebumps. Glad to share this beautiful experience with all caps fans
All the disappointments makes our 2018 Cup win even more sweeter! Been watching the Caps since the mid 90s and I definitely shed a few tears that night watching the boys raise the Cup
I’m a flyers fan and this was well deserved for the Caps Ik how it feel to be heartbroken over and over and over again trust me I’m a Eagles fan, when you guys won the Cup you guys had my dad crying in happiness for Ovi to finally win the cup, he’s also a Flyers fan, anyway congratulations on the Cup and screw Shittsburgh
Philadelphia and their dirtball fans are the reason why I rooted for Tom Brady to win a game for the first time ever in my life. He didn't, but still the sentiment remains.
The 2017-18 Capitals very much reminded me of the 2006 Indianapolis Colts. Those two teams were known for their generational superstar for a decade (Ovechkin and Peyton Manning) and had spectacular regular seasons year after year with high expectations for the playoffs, only to fall short in painful fashion each time. Then the year after their "window" was slammed shut, they regress a little bit, but they go on an unlikely run to finally win their long awaited championship. Not to mention, they each finally defeated their longtime adversaries in a playoff round to get their championship. Peyton finally beat Brady to get to and win Super Bowl XLI and Ovechkin finally beat Crosby on his way to lifting the Stanley Cup.
Great compilation! It's wonderful to relive it all, again. The one part that sticks out to me the most was DSP's game-tying goal in game 5. For all the troubles he's had this season, especially getting sent down to Hershey, that goal will definitely be the defining moment in his career. He'll be remembered for that in Caps history and among our fans.
Man, I'm not even a Caps fan, but what a well made video. So much disappointment and sadness in Ovi from the earlier clips in the video, really made you feel for the guy. I'm so happy he was finally able to win a cup, the guy absolutely deserved it in every way possible. Excellent editing all throughout, can't wait for you to (hopefully) make more videos!
I was at game 6 against TB. There was a different kind of energy in the arena that night, the moment that Chandler Stevenson chased down that icing which led to the second goal I knew the cup was for the caps.
I grew up being a huge fan of DC sports. Hockey, baseball and football. It runs through my veins. In my 25 years of living, I've yet to ever see my favorite teams win the big one. Until this happened. I can't tell you how much I cried and I still do after seeing Ovi with the cup in his hands.
This was crazy! I am a Cunucks van and never really payed much attention to the Capatils. But wow, practicly shed a tear from this amazing story. So happy for the team, and Ovi! congratulations boys.
I remember watching all those Canadian “analysts” talking about how the caps wanted to lose to Columbus to avoid losing to Shittsburgh.... then I remember them saying how Tampa had a much more “talented”and “physical” team... Lastly those same “analysts” said that Vegas was “superior” in every line..... Those same “analysts” will tell you this year that the caps don’t have it too.... Ovi getting 3 cups kills sids legend and NBC or the Canadian nhl office wouldn’t quite like that....Our eyes tell us that Ovi is better but you won’t be saying SIDS got more cups for long...
TheDCGuitar13 The Canadians were certainly biased against the caps especially Milbury but honestly, I think lots of them wanted to see us win and we turned them into believers. To be fair, the lightning are a better team on paper than the caps but that’s why you play the game. I’m not sure about 3 cups but the team certainly looks strong
Always rooted for the Caps from afar. I was so happy for the franchise to finally win the Cup, as I remember when they came in the league and they were sooooo bad for a decade. Good for you, Wash.

Great choice to use mw2 music!
Noot Can never go wrong with MW2
Holy shit casually scrolling through comments and I see you
hahah sup bud
what track?
Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack
THE SAVE! It sends a chill down my spine everytime I see that clip
Some Call Me Aaron Oh me too man. Save of a lifetime
I apologize for commenting on all these caps videos. It’s just that I admire Ovechkin’s drive to push through the adversity and remain calm as long as he did. He played. He loves the game. And finally he won the cup. They’re not even my team but I’m so proud of them
I have Alex Ovechkin holding the Stanley Cup as my screensaver on my phone
SouthPark Fan2006 I have holtby holding it
This video tears me up every time! xD been a Caps fan since I was small so it was definitely a long time coming!
I'm a red wings fan and yet I still think this is a awesome video
Thank you I appreciate it. You guys will be back soon.
also a red wings fan here! all respect to the caps!
02 red wings, best team assembled!
Caps deserved to win the cup for quite a few seasons now, especially Ovie!! I'm happy for them and that the hockey Gods delivered justice. Pittsburgh are whining cheaters and Vegas didn't have the time in or the clout deserved for a cup win.
Red wings fan here.. but the caps will be my all time guilty pleasure team.. this is a great club.
I can't stop watching it. What a performance. Hats off to my CAPS. I love it.
Kev Ovi8 I cant stop watching it either
Also my favorite play will always be the 5 hole kuzy had on the penguins for the win
Yeah that was Ovie screaming when Kuzi scored.
This brings a tear in my eyes! After watching the Capitals struggle over the years and eventually winning The Stanley Cup this year!
Im a penguins fan, the win was well deserved, cap's simply played better hockey, lucky or not, congrats!
Yes sirrrrr. I’m a Tampa fan but this is just AMAZING to see. I stopped watching G7 after that Ovie goal cuz I knew Washington would want it more
Have watched atleast 20 of these vids. Still not tired of them!
erik khndirian I don’t think it ever gets old
They finally did it!
BLACKHAWKSVISION What a feeling
Let’s all admit, we were all rooting for the Washington Capitals.
Probably the best video about the Capitals playoffs compilation I've ever seen.
The Rose Experience We’ll see, lots of our team is locked up for a long period of time so hopefully they could get another.
As a Caps fan since 06, I still come back to this video from time to time. All I wanted was to see one cup. Good christ, that season was special. And the parade was one of the coolest experiences of my life
Still brings tears of joy to my eyes
They played best playoff I have ever seen, I hope they continue it this year, this coming from a leafs fan
8:14 is a legendary play by play call
As an Penguins fan tath is like my favorite call ever
Sens fan here, but I wanted to cry at the beginning of this video. Those heartbreaks were gutwrenching.
Caps Caps Caps Finally a DC Championship. Been waiting since 92 Skins for this
This was amazing. Wonderful video my friend. Every time they show the caps winning the Stanley cup or the Kuznetsov goal in Pittsburgh I get goosebumps. Glad to share this beautiful experience with all caps fans
Catherine Hughes Thank you, I appreciate it. Kuznetsov’s and Ellers goals get me every time
Congratulations Caps fans, on that series, you guys were the better team. Coming from a Vegas fan
khpredator00 yeah good series man, it was a run for the ages
All the disappointments makes our 2018 Cup win even more sweeter! Been watching the Caps since the mid 90s and I definitely shed a few tears that night watching the boys raise the Cup
usually dont like music over music over these videos, but this fits it so well! great video man!
DaZeD thank you so much, I tried my hardest
Im not a caps fan, but dang i love that this team is not selfish at all, they pass all the time, and Ovechkin dang.. his passes are from another world
I’m a flyers fan and this was well deserved for the Caps Ik how it feel to be heartbroken over and over and over again trust me I’m a Eagles fan, when you guys won the Cup you guys had my dad crying in happiness for Ovi to finally win the cup, he’s also a Flyers fan, anyway congratulations on the Cup and screw Shittsburgh
Philadelphia and their dirtball fans are the reason why I rooted for Tom Brady to win a game for the first time ever in my life. He didn't, but still the sentiment remains.
Oshie's speech will never not make me tear up..
Good morning, Good Afternoon, Good Night: Columbus, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Las Vegas. C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS!!!!!!!!
I'm an islanders fan and I'm really happy for the caps and for ovechkin!
I appreciate that. Ovi deserves every bit of his success now.
I was at game 6 against TB. There was a different kind of energy in the arena that night, the moment that Chandler Stevenson chased down that icing which led to the second goal I knew the cup was for the caps.
Finally the caps are Stanley cup champions #allcaps
Logan Leahy Unreal year
I went to my first Caps game when I was 3 weeks old and have loved them ever sense. Great video
Sam Shepard Thanks man, don’t think you remember too much of that
I don't remember that one lol but I am damn sure gonna remember this one
That was really well put together
fortnite of Much appreciated!
I grew up being a huge fan of DC sports. Hockey, baseball and football. It runs through my veins. In my 25 years of living, I've yet to ever see my favorite teams win the big one. Until this happened. I can't tell you how much I cried and I still do after seeing Ovi with the cup in his hands.
fucking chills
This was crazy! I am a Cunucks van and never really payed much attention to the Capatils. But wow, practicly shed a tear from this amazing story. So happy for the team, and Ovi! congratulations boys.
i think ovi is the next gretzky when it comes to goals
Chills every time I watch this. It never gets old.
Remember the 90s red wings. They went through a similar road to the caps and when they finally broke through boy did they.
I just came to say I still haven't realized that Washington FINALLY won the Stanley Cup. What a moments!
as a lightning fan, I was actually not to mad to see ovechkin get a chance to win the cup.
As an islanders fan ove went through so much, he definitely deserved this.
Wow what a journey. And how clutch is Kuznetsov!!!
Always rooted for the Caps from afar. I was so happy for the franchise to finally win the Cup, as I remember when they came in the league and they were sooooo bad for a decade. Good for you, Wash.
Thank you for this video
Ace Gaming Of course, this is for all of us to enjoy
Every time I view this video, it brings tears to my eyes. They honestly played their butt off and definitely deserves the CUP!!!
