    Excellent video I like your simple instruction. I have the Lance fishfinder Hook 4 And the wiring set up came with two clear looking connectors but they look a little different than the connectors you used. Do they go on the same way ? Thx mate

    and for people that dont have the fancy crimping tool for the but connector..there are a set of default crimpers specifically for but connectors and they usually have yellow or orange handles...If you look closely at the tip of those default crimpers there are 3 dots..blue red and yellow..your gonna want to match the but connector to the color of dot and crimp the but connector...

    What size fuses are you using I have heard several different opinions from 5 amp to 20 amp, I would think a 5 amp for each fish finder and maybe a 20 amp if you have 2 or more connected in the same area?

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому +2

      I use 3 amp.. thats what came with my elites so I really don't wanna send more juice to them then the factory recommendation

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому +2

      Thats atleast what I use for my fish finders. But the size of the fuse depends on what your trying to put a fuse on. Everything electronic has a need for as much juice as needed to run and perform right.. not enough your item won't turn on or function right and if to much you'll blow fuses

    I don't have a torch and don't wanna buy one. is a lighter okay? i have one of those long ones and can hold the wire with pliers for safety reasons, if need be.

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому

      Yeah u can use a lighter. It doesn't have to be a torch.. and kinda fire would work regardless of where it comes from.. hope this helps and lmk if ya have anymore questions!!

    ive never used the inline fuse and no problems yet. is it really needed?

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому +3

      It's not as necessarily needed other then just protecting your fish finders and other electronics. It's much easier to replace a cheap fuse then to replace a finder or whatever else u have wired up. It's what I like to call reassurance cuz the bus fuse holder and fuses are alot cheaper to replace if something were to happen. And I've been an automotive tech for goin on 6 years professionally and I've seen all kinds of electrical problems happen that one would never think of. But no you can straightwire to a battery but it just keeps the voltage and amps to the recommended levels.. because if to much juice flows then your liable to melt internal parts on the finder and maybe even (worse case scenario) cause a small electrical fire that can lead to worse issues. But needed, not per say but its more of a safety insurance thats all

      My 2 lowrance 7 inch units at the console, my 12 inch lowrance and my garmin livescope unit and black box and my kayak are all hooked up with these connectors. Also my noco lithium battery charger and my minn kota charger for the big batteries are hooked up the same.. and the power poles, plus I wire up semi trucks, dump trucks, ambulances and work trucks I work on in a daily basis at work are all wired with these.. and they work just fine my friend. So if u want to see a power up video I can make a UA-cam short. Tight lines

    How do you know what size connectors to use?

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому +4

      It depends on the gauge of wire. There are typically 4 types of connectors. The red connector is for 22-18 gauge wire, the blue is for 16-14 gauge and the yellow is for 12-10 gauge wire. Now the other is a metal connector for thicker then 10 gauge. But those are your common connectors for your AWG wire (AWG= American Wire Gauge). So you should be sure of your gauge wire you're going to use when purchasing the size connectors. You can buy them in connector kits so they have all options for a range of wires. Hope this helps and thanks for the view! Any more questions feel free to ask im glad to help

    I just added an inline fuse to a positive wire and i still got continuity with or with out the fuse in place. Is that normal

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  3 роки тому

      I would have to say no.. thats the point of the fuse is to break the circut when the fuse pops. If your still getting continuity with the fuse missing that means you still have a connection somewhere passing current along the system. If you have a multimeter check the back end of the fuse (opposite of the positive terminal side of the fuse) to see if you are getting a voltage reading to determine if your trickling power through somewhere along the way. Or if u don't have a multimeter u can pick up a test light and do the same kinda test. I'm not electrician but atleast through my automotive experience removing the fuse should break the circuit to not allow electricity to pass through. If it still is u have another issue and I'd definitely replace that fuse. I hope this helps and if u have any further questions feel free to ask away and I will research more to help u achieve your answer. Thanks for the question bud

      Yeah man keep me updated on how the test came out because I'm curious myself. If u do the voltage test and get nothing but you get continuity lmk because maybe ill do a few tests myself because I'm intrigued now lol. I appreciate the view and hope this helped. The “heat shrinking wasn’t working. Maybe, just maybe that isn’t part of the connectors’ design? Maybe, just maybe, you have a thing for fire.

    • @cra-bassint.v.5664
      @cra-bassint.v.5664  2 роки тому

      You choose the amps for what ever you going to run there is going to be a recommended size fuse for what you're trying to do. Everything varies like car amps can take a 100 amp fuse and my fishfinders are recommended for 3 amp but I run em with 5's. What are you using it for?
