"Absolute chaos" | Upper Yough

- I remember running the Upper Yough as a kid but it had been way too long since I got the chance to run it. I decided I couldn't pass up the chance and rallied up after a sweet weekend at the Gauley. I had only planned on the one lap but once I finished the first day, it was too good not to stay for a another one. So many fun moves to hit down the entire run, just non stop playing. The craziest thing was just how crowed the river was, which might be the most people I have ever seen condensed in such a small run. The best part of the day was seeing the absolute chaos and carnage at National falls, made the whole trip worth it just with that. I definitely won't wait 13 years to go back again.

This video makes me want be back on the east coast. I loved those lines and that national ruckus. The Yough is the River I learned to boat on. I didn’t realize it at the time but I was truly fortunate to have that treat in the back yard. Great to see you out there absolutely KILLING the game! Stoked for you bro!!! #inspiration.

Well I often will find people I know and link up with them. This time I just paddled down with a crew then hitched a ride after. I never like to paddle on my own.

I ran it spring of 85 or 86 in my Dancer. The most fun I ever had while being terrified!😃
This is actually the first year of my life I haven’t gone up to the Ottawa at least once. I usually go up for high water in the spring, then low water in the summer for some joy kayaking and coaching.

I ran the Upper Yough years ago after only running the Nantahala, before the Ocoee. I don't recommend that progression. Two ugly swims.

used to love the channel but the antix ruined it for me. clearly stern squirts never get old for you, but for the POV viewer they're nauseating! i guess i'm done watching till you get back to running hard stuff in a creekboat again- or you start taking your viewers into consideration (i'm not the only one who doesn't like it) cheers!
