@@asmrNalBi I got the Tuttle language software as well as my best friend got me Blackpink in your Korean. Which is an entire basic course themed around Blackpink. With an emphasis on building on the knowledge of their lyrics. I have a pretty decent understanding of Hangul and can understand a lot of words, but I struggle with sentence structure. I’m hoping to be completely fluent by next Christmas.
I really want to get to a point where I can understand and communicate in real time. Right now I can understand some speakers a lot better than others. I can instantly understand you, Jisoo, Rosé, and Hwasa the easiest, but I can’t keep up with Youngji or Soyeon. They are both so fast that I can’t understand what they say when they are rapping,

The crazy thing is I can tell the difference between East Asian Languages. Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean. I just am terrible at writing or even speaking it. I can at least speak basics like hello in Japanese or Korean. Bye in Japanese, thank you in both Japanese and Korean. I only know hello in Mandarin. But, then again. Im much more familiar with 2 other languages. German and Latin aside from my native tongue of English. Though both of those languages could be comparable to an elementary school students proficiency if not worse. I try but... I'm not always that good. But, great video.

I'm curious about something. When King Sejong created Hangul, did it replace leters but sound the same as whatever was used before? The whole country had to learn a new alphabet or partly a new language as well? I know it was probably at a time when a lot of people were maybe illiterate so it wouldn't be as difficult to just learn an alphabet with no other knowledge of writing? I know, I could Google it but it's more interesting when you ask questions :) Love the video and really wish I could pick up the language easily 😊
Thank you for your good question! When King Sejong introduced Hangul in 1443, it was designed to replace the existing writing system, which relied heavily on Classical Chinese characters (한자Hanja). The spoken language itself didn’t change - 한글(Hangul) was specifically created to represent the Korean language more accurately and make literacy accessible to everyone, especially commoners who struggled with the complexity of 한자(Hanja-Chinese Letters). Before 한글(Hangul), only the elite and scholars could read and write fluently. So, while people already spoke Korean, Hangul provided a much simpler way to write it down. Because of its intuitive design, people could learn Hangul relatively quickly, even if they had no prior knowledge of writing. I'm glad you enjoy the video, and I’m sure you can pick up the language easily with a bit of practice😊

@@asmrNalBi I got the Tuttle language software as well as my best friend got me Blackpink in your Korean. Which is an entire basic course themed around Blackpink. With an emphasis on building on the knowledge of their lyrics. I have a pretty decent understanding of Hangul and can understand a lot of words, but I struggle with sentence structure. I’m hoping to be completely fluent by next Christmas.
I really want to get to a point where I can understand and communicate in real time. Right now I can understand some speakers a lot better than others. I can instantly understand you, Jisoo, Rosé, and Hwasa the easiest, but I can’t keep up with Youngji or Soyeon. They are both so fast that I can’t understand what they say when they are rapping,

The crazy thing is I can tell the difference between East Asian Languages. Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean. I just am terrible at writing or even speaking it. I can at least speak basics like hello in Japanese or Korean. Bye in Japanese, thank you in both Japanese and Korean. I only know hello in Mandarin. But, then again. Im much more familiar with 2 other languages. German and Latin aside from my native tongue of English. Though both of those languages could be comparable to an elementary school students proficiency if not worse. I try but... I'm not always that good. But, great video.

I'm curious about something. When King Sejong created Hangul, did it replace leters but sound the same as whatever was used before? The whole country had to learn a new alphabet or partly a new language as well? I know it was probably at a time when a lot of people were maybe illiterate so it wouldn't be as difficult to just learn an alphabet with no other knowledge of writing? I know, I could Google it but it's more interesting when you ask questions :) Love the video and really wish I could pick up the language easily 😊
Thank you for your good question! When King Sejong introduced Hangul in 1443, it was designed to replace the existing writing system, which relied heavily on Classical Chinese characters (한자Hanja). The spoken language itself didn’t change - 한글(Hangul) was specifically created to represent the Korean language more accurately and make literacy accessible to everyone, especially commoners who struggled with the complexity of 한자(Hanja-Chinese Letters).
Before 한글(Hangul), only the elite and scholars could read and write fluently. So, while people already spoke Korean, Hangul provided a much simpler way to write it down. Because of its intuitive design, people could learn Hangul relatively quickly, even if they had no prior knowledge of writing.
