Had to increase the rear downforce a little bit or every time I went on the brakes the car would basically spin (playing with a base ass G29 just for the extra fun), but other than that it's really awesome and great fun. Plus the nostalgia is very strong in this one, definetly thanks for sharing!
GTO has always been a great car to use for something in GT games. It's versatility is something nobody mentions. Great video. Got a GTO maxed tuned. Beasting some top end cars.
They totally messed up on power level tho. 6G72 engines REGULARLY get over 800hp & their are drag cars pushin 1500hp out of 3.5L 6G74 blocks equipped with 6G72 heads & decent turbos. 597 or whatever the max hp ends up being is literally a slap in the face of the GTO ESPECIALLY when you consider how awesome of a car it is to drive. I know it could handle 150-200 more horses.
I just wanted to say thanks for this! Especially after the 1.15 update! I followed your setup (and went widebody, which dropped the PP a little). But after a little practice with the track and when to pit, I'm consistently getting firsts! ✌️
My usual weapon of choice for Le Mans is the Aston Martin VGT, but this GTO tune was really good. Fast and very stable. My only small gripe is that on fuel map 6 this is limited to 3 laps, whereas the Aston you’ve got a lot more wiggle room and can do a one stopper. I need to try this on other races now too!
Thanks for the video. I really enjoy these Le Mans tunes. The event is really fun, even if the AI are dreadful after the first pitstop and then do a second one at the end so even on Hard you end up winning by a huge margin. Then again the one time I did it on hard difficulty there were only a few spots of rain and I completed the race on one set of hards without changing them, so maybe it's different when it rains. I bet this GTO is a monster considering you can get 538 BHP at 700PP, I'll have to try this one out. Personally, I like to use the '02 NSX Type R myself. The downsides are if you install every racing mod, in order to keep under 700PP, you can't make many tuning tweaks and have to detune it to about 350 BHP, although it still reaches about 175 on the straights which isn't too bad.
Good car and good tune. I found the car bit twitchy under heavy breaking especially in wet/in the high speed parts, but nothing that was not manageable. As you say, very forgiving car and overall really stable. I used more aggressive fuel mapping in the first 2 laps to catch the nr1 car which resulted in fuel for only 2 laps, however that was perfect as I entered pits, it started to rain, filled up car and full rain tyres and fuel map 6 got 3 laps and also sailed past the other cars which were on full slicks in the rain. After lap 4 I was almost 2 minutes ahead. Excellent car for this event.
@@Caracatungas For the Laguna seca race? Were you able to go the full race without pitting? I think I remember trying that track with the RE and found that I didn’t have enough fuel for a no pit run.
nice build. i like the livery edit. this is more fun to use than the tomahawk glitch. i was skeptic at first because i couldn't catch up. got to p8 after the first lap then it started to rain. i pitted and swapped to wet tires and it was all over from there. i got p1 with no problems and had a 45+ seconds lead and never looked back. i even got a 1.5 second penalty and still got clean race bonus. i refueled every 2 laps. the configs got me 692pp but still fast enough to get p1. now i gotta look for build to use on Gr3 730pp. thanks for the video
For the 700PP Race on LM builds, I almost always use the Full Custom Manual instead of Full Custom Racing for transmission to allow more top end power/weight. The next thing I aim for is 2600-3000 lbs (again in the scope of keeping good power to push thru the wind). This way I can run it a bit lean the whole race for ease/efficiency. I also like to balance my spring rates and try to equalize corner weights a bit closer while I'm tuning 2600-3000lbs. Around 2.40-2.75 have been my optimal spring rates for those weights. Stabilizer around 5-7 and dampners around 30 for the compression and 40 for rebound give or take to liking.
I’ve looked it up before without great results, so what’s the difference isn’t he transmission? Why do u chose the manual over racing? I was under the impression Racing has quicker shift times and that was it
@@icemana51 The Cstomizable Manual can actually use a 3rd pedal. The shifts are slower, and the PP will be lower naturally because of sluggish shifts. (This is course allows you to run more Power or Aero less weight depending on tune which is a Plus for a track like this.)

So much nicer than using the tomahawk for grinding credits. Most of the Gr4 cars do this easily. Just use map 5/6 to pit at the end of lap 4, which is normally rain time, grab the right tyres and fuel and coast to victory.
Except you can do this twice in an hour for 1.65M (if you don’t get out of the track) & Tokyo event with the tomahawk 3 times in an hour for 2.5M (not a chance to not get the clean race bonus)
@@shinyagami8843 I'd rather enjoy driving for an hour and getting 1.65m, than grind for 1 hr in a painful car/circuit combo for 2.5m......... And you can buy a GR3/4 car, race once and end up with 400/500k left over each time. Easy way to build up your garage while enjoying things.

@@shinyagami8843 It's a subjective thing. With a wheel and pedals, the tomahawk just wants to hit the walls so it's 15-25 seconds of penalties per lap, in the early laps. Not something I enjoy driving......! Cruising around Le Mans for 30-34mins with some changes in weather, learning the differences in all the cars you can buy and run in that race, is much more enjoyable to me. Like i said in my first reply, I find the Le Mans race so much more Enjoyable to gain credits. If you dont agree, then stick to the tomahawk exploit.....!

Interesting that you have the suspension frequency in the low 2Hz range. With Racing tyres I always set my frequency to 3Hz or above. I don't know if it's as important on 4WD cars, but rear wheel drive vehicles really feel like they benefit from a higher frequency, at least to me.
This tune is generally decent but unless I copied something down wrong… it’s immensely unstable under braking. Even when in a straight line the car may begin to veer one way or another
same for me, kinda have to drive the car gently. would recommend slowling to a corner speed as you approach any bends. i lowerered the rear to be even with the front, and it sort of helps. using a wheel as well.
Thanks for this video. Love this car. Could you do the Mitshubishi EVO Lancer Evolution GSR 99? Its in the used car garage. I tuned it to 699pp and annihilated this race by almost a minute.
If you haven't already and feel like building something else, give the 2002 NSX Type R a try. It might not be the quickest since you have to detune it to 350 BHP to reach 700, but I really enjoy how it handles, especially in the Porsche curves or at a track like Autopolis.

They may come back eventually, but I have no plans to for the moment with my schedule being far busier than it was back when I used to run the competitions
Wow, just used the Alpine VGT and easily beat all other records FL4.08, tires and gas are easily managed with a one stop strategy, handles the rain with slicks well, perfect gearing with a 7 speed box and handles like a dream, very recommended.
I've tried BAC Mono only once in this race. Setting Output ECU 88% and Power Restric to 90% you can get PP699.68@292HP. Fast enough for 1 st in this 30 min race but you need to managed Fuel Consumption and Tyre replacement (depended on weather.). But I using Porche 962C '88 reduce power to PP700 and using in this 30 min race. It too easy for 1st without any problem and fuel consumption very good. Tomahawk VGT can won this race very easy but for me it too boring for using high speed car with great handling for 30 min.
I think you have said in previous videos that you started with gt2 - this car was the most op car in gt1 by far! I think the Supra was the distant second and then miles behind was everything else! Lol

I use either the Swift Sport Gr.4. On Map 6 it can do 4 laps easy, if I do some lift and coast I can do 5 laps. This means by the end of lap 4 which is when the rain normally starts, I pit, change to inters or wets, get fuel and finish easily. Only issue is it being FF, it gets understeer on acceleration Or I will use the Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.4 Not as fuel efficient as the swift, but faster overall. Only issue is Lift-Off Oversteer.
After testing this setup i still like Silvia Gr4 much more, more fuel efficient, much faster acceleration, better cornering... Try it on le mans yourself...

Isn't this car a classic GT1 car? I remember these cars from GT1, in the used car dealer shipped I've flagged all the cars in the 90ties below 98, cause these were mostly all the cars in GT1. Nostalgia. someone should make a video of the GT1 cars in this game.
I find that they beauty of 4WD is you don't need to swap tyres. You can deal with the two laps of rain in racing medium tyres better than your opponents.
Great video, have you tried the Genesis G70? Its so much faster than the Genesis gr4 when tuned its ridiculous, be careful with the weight reduction though, i took it to 2 or 3 (cant remember) and then had to add a fair amount of ballast but its still super fast 180's plus on minimum fuel mix ;)
Re the intercooler, manifold, air cleaner. If you fit all of these and then apply a power restrictor will you have a better fuel economy than the alternative of not fitting them and not using the power restrictor?
Not sure why, but if you need to drop a couple of PP, you can install the "Full Customizable: Manual" transmission. You can have exactly the same gear box and have a lower PP value.
Actually if you use the two custom gearboxes back to back you'll notice faster shifts. This applies to older race cars like the 787b and 962 as well. This way (if you use the custom manual) you can keep the old feel while still messing with the gear ratios.
I want to see if you can come up with a tune to make the Toyota SW20 MR2 stable as a 700pp tune build, because I have tried to.maximize the grip, and it just does not seem to like it when you do 50% throttle when you need to around a corner. It is frustrating to figure out how I could possibly maximize this little MR's grip. It just continually wants to oversteer.
In english its "Racing Silencer"? Never knew that... I thought it was something with "muffler". However, in german its "Auspuff". You can translate that word to english with "Outwhorehouse" :-)
The Tomahawk @ Tokyo is run in around 20 something minutes so is faster than the Le Mans which is a 30 minute minimum race. But the Le Mans race is so much more fun, I hardly bother the the Tomahawk now as its so boring so for me its Le Mans every day with different cars to mix it up ;)
I tuned this car as well, and I was very impressed by how well it handles. One of my favorites now. However I hear the GTO in real life is a nightmare to actually tune and upgrade... Which sucks. Have to check it off my irl project car. lol

The Mitsubishi 3000GT from GT A-Spec would tune well over 1000hp along with the Skyline and were the two fastest street cars when tuned correctly

Yeah I had a really good run with the RE Amemiya RX-7 but went into the dirt and got second place behind by .7 seconds.

I did it with HSG's Camaro ZL1 build and it was fine. Although I think I might have only done it on normal difficulty, I can't remember.

I have been using the audi quattro for this race but this brings me back to my roots. This was the ultimate grind car in GT1

I also tuned a coupe type r Impreza sti for the 700 pp LeMans race and used the Cusco livery and won multiple times with that car too.

Thanks for this video. Love this car. Could you do the Mitshubishi EVO Lancer Evolution GSR 99? Its in the used car garage. I tuned it to 699pp and annihilated this race by almost a minute.
have about 20 cars at 699 for that race. latest is the Alpine A110 14. most fun to drive. I'll give this GTO a run at it next.
If you haven't already and feel like building something else, give the 2002 NSX Type R a try. It might not be the quickest since you have to detune it to 350 BHP to reach 700, but I really enjoy how it handles, especially in the Porsche curves or at a track like Autopolis.
I've done a Clio V6 race car build but it's a bit twitchy at the back even on racing tyres.

Love the Mitsubishi GTO, helped me win the clubman cup+ events.
I've personally been using the Megane Thophy, it's got the fuel economy of the Swift and the power of a Viper when you install the turbo.

Had no idea you could equip a turbo and boost them lol.
It will always rain. However, I once got a race where there was little rain and wet tires were not necessary.
For this race I use the Honda 2&4 and it is pretty good. But I'll give the GTO a go since I already have it.
I did Le Mans with no pit stop, it sprinkled, and did it in a detuned Porsche 956, shit whips around the corners and you can brake way late into turns

The GTO got me through what felt like half of the game.

They may come back eventually, but I have no plans to for the moment with my schedule being far busier than it was back when I used to run the competitions
With these exact settings I can barely do 2 laps with AT. 3 to 4% gas left.

Wow, just used the Alpine VGT and easily beat all other records FL4.08, tires and gas are easily managed with a one stop strategy, handles the rain with slicks well, perfect gearing with a 7 speed box and handles like a dream, very recommended.
I tried this build and under anything more then 75% braking the back end steps out every time. Help what am I doing wrong??
Same, I’m confused why this is being praised so much. The car I’ve tuned identical to his settings is extremely in unbalanced on braking.

Can you do one for the BAC Mono?
I've tried BAC Mono only once in this race. Setting Output ECU 88% and Power Restric to 90% you can get PP699.68@292HP.
Fast enough for 1 st in this 30 min race but you need to managed Fuel Consumption and Tyre replacement (depended on weather.).
But I using Porche 962C '88 reduce power to PP700 and using in this 30 min race. It too easy for 1st without any problem and fuel consumption very good.
Tomahawk VGT can won this race very easy but for me it too boring for using high speed car with great handling for 30 min.
Nissan silva s15 and red bull Jr cart are brilliant for that race to💯❤

I think you have said in previous videos that you started with gt2 - this car was the most op car in gt1 by far! I think the Supra was the distant second and then miles behind was everything else! Lol

I use either the Swift Sport Gr.4.
On Map 6 it can do 4 laps easy, if I do some lift and coast I can do 5 laps.
This means by the end of lap 4 which is when the rain normally starts, I pit, change to inters or wets, get fuel and finish easily.
Only issue is it being FF, it gets understeer on acceleration
Or I will use the Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.4
Not as fuel efficient as the swift, but faster overall.
Only issue is Lift-Off Oversteer.
After testing this setup i still like Silvia Gr4 much more, more fuel efficient, much faster acceleration, better cornering... Try it on le mans yourself...

I remember these cars from GT1, in the used car dealer shipped I've flagged all the cars in the 90ties below 98, cause these were mostly all the cars in GT1.

I find that they beauty of 4WD is you don't need to swap tyres. You can deal with the two laps of rain in racing medium tyres better than your opponents.
Great video, have you tried the Genesis G70? Its so much faster than the Genesis gr4 when tuned its ridiculous, be careful with the weight reduction though, i took it to 2 or 3 (cant remember) and then had to add a fair amount of ballast but its still super fast 180's plus on minimum fuel mix ;)

Re the intercooler, manifold, air cleaner. If you fit all of these and then apply a power restrictor will you have a better fuel economy than the alternative of not fitting them and not using the power restrictor?

The gto was an epic car in A Spec
Not sure why, but if you need to drop a couple of PP, you can install the "Full Customizable: Manual" transmission. You can have exactly the same gear box and have a lower PP value.
Actually if you use the two custom gearboxes back to back you'll notice faster shifts. This applies to older race cars like the 787b and 962 as well. This way (if you use the custom manual) you can keep the old feel while still messing with the gear ratios.
I love this race too beacuse toyko is harder race. i run s15 with max power :P 0 tunning is good, but daym i want to try this
I want to see if you can come up with a tune to make the Toyota SW20 MR2 stable as a 700pp tune build, because I have tried to.maximize the grip, and it just does not seem to like it when you do 50% throttle when you need to around a corner. It is frustrating to figure out how I could possibly maximize this little MR's grip. It just continually wants to oversteer.

In english its "Racing Silencer"? Never knew that... I thought it was something with "muffler". However, in german its "Auspuff". You can translate that word to english with "Outwhorehouse" :-)

The Tomahawk @ Tokyo is run in around 20 something minutes so is faster than the Le Mans which is a 30 minute minimum race. But the Le Mans race is so much more fun, I hardly bother the the Tomahawk now as its so boring so for me its Le Mans every day with different cars to mix it up ;)

I tuned this car as well, and I was very impressed by how well it handles. One of my favorites now. However I hear the GTO in real life is a nightmare to actually tune and upgrade... Which sucks. Have to check it off my irl project car. lol
