    I think that the scientific consensus is that cool sculpting is actually dangerous. Wanting to change your body is 1000% fine, but being willing to give yourself frostbite in order to do so is definitely disordered.

    Cool sculpting also has the risk of the fat cells GROWING instead of dying. 😬😬 There are other safer options for cosmetic fat loss. But you’re right, it should 100% be used in conjunction with balanced diet and exercise!

    I vote for the thigh master 😁
    I remember my mother getting one when I was a teenager. The little booklet it came with showed some shoulder, upper back and arm work by 1. having it with the hinge at the top, holding it just underneath and pushing it together with your elbows, 2. having it with the hinge away from you and holding onto the other end and bringing the ends together with your hands, 3. when you're seated, putting it on your thigh with the hinge into your hip and pushing the other down to work maybe your triceps(?) and 4 holding it on your chest, hinge end down and pulling the ends together like a bicep curl. Was being marketed as a full body thing in Australia. Not sure how inner thighs and arms/shoulders/upper back qualifies as full body but there you go. I feel it did help with arm strength a bit maybe. It was the only exercise thing I had access too growing up until my father bought my older brother some gym equipment. I grew up on a farm in the middle of no-where so we didn't have access to a gym. Now I wish I could go back and tell my former self, to just go down the tractor shed, find heavy stuff and start lifting lol.

    Please do the 6 sec abs. It looks like a way to do a crunch with resistance which is hard to do at home without an ab machine at the gym. I would be interested in your thoughts after using it.
    Also, if people vote for the face trainer or cool sculpting, please look at the risks before trying (just want you to be safe if you’re trying stuff for us). Some of the jaw trainers have caused TMJ. There is a big lawsuit going on regarding cool sculpting where it caused PAH and the person says they are permanently disfigured.

    My understanding of CoolSculpting is that it’s really for folks at or near their goal weight who have stubborn pockets of fat that they can’t lose because of genetics, but that they still find unsightly.

    • @marrymar1274
      @marrymar1274 2 роки тому +1

      Exactly! I personally had really bad saddle bags. I have been working out for years and years, have really good muscle mass and a low to normal body fat % but they wouldn't go away. They were genetic as my mom had the exact same issue. I tried coolSculpting but didn't help too much, just smoothed their appearance. Ended up having lipo to get rid of them. There's not much you can do for genetic fat pockets like this.

    • @JustinaErcole
      @JustinaErcole  2 роки тому +1

      Yep! And unfortunately it will come right back due to genetics.

    • @marrymar1274
      @marrymar1274 2 роки тому

      @@JustinaErcole I'm sorry Justina but this is not accurate. Actually discussed this with my surgeon cause I was worried and he said that after lipo fat wouldn't come back unless I gain like a massive amount of weight. Also, I know this is an anecdote, but my mom who had the same procedure has not had increase in saddle fat in 6 years after she's had the procedure and mind you, she's not as active as I am. So no, this is not accurate.

    • @amanka0
      @amanka0 2 роки тому +1

      According to my doctor, the procedure actually kills the fat cells so that they don’t come back as readily. CS and lipo are the only ways to spot reduce and a good option for someone already doing the nutrition and fitness pieces who can’t meet their aesthetic goals otherwise.

    There’s numerous examples of people dying in sauna suits. A young man local to me was in Thailand (as he was a Muay Thai fighter) and died after running in a sauna suit.
    Isn’t coolscuplt the thing that Linda Evangelista said disfigured her?

    • @morganbaldwinmiller
      @morganbaldwinmiller 2 роки тому +2

      I feel like sauna suits should ONLY be used for warming up... Dancers wear "trash bag" pants that are similar to sauna suits but they wear them for the beginning of a dance class to warm up quickly and then take them off. I am not sure why people think wearing the sauna suit for exercise as if it's doing anything but dehydrate and overheat them.
      and yes! I would have not put coolsculpt in the top category because of stories like Linda Evangelista.

      Oh yikes!

    • @rosyface_
      @rosyface_ 2 роки тому

      @@morganbaldwinmiller I can see the use for dancers (I take ballet and previously did Muay Thai), and I can somewhat see the use under strict medical supervision for weight cutting in combat sports (though I wouldn’t consider running outdoors in Thailand appropriate usage). Weight cutting is pretty dangerous itself and the last bit often requires dehydration, and I think that there should be a bigger conversation about changing the rules so people fight at their walking around weight, rather than a weight class that’s often 20-40lbs below their walking around weight. Until then, people will defo keep using sauna suits, Epsom baths, saunas, and not drinking water and eating food to achieve weight. They achieve for 30 seconds while they’re weighed and then immediately go get fries. It’s inaccurate when it comes to competition, and dangerous!

    I went to TJMaxx 2 weeks ago and bought some ankle weights - set of 2 lbs ankle weights - for $3. I can’t imagine paying $50 for a pair when I can find some on Amazon for less than that with removable weights. For now, the $3 pair seem to work fine for me.
    The Ab electrocuting thing - all they all doing is sending electrical impulses. Why not just work them for real? Electrical impulses won’t do anything for muscle growth. If it did the TENS machines would make people look like body builders or lopsided since it’s a common treatment in PT clinics. Sore muscles don’t always mean they will become toned or grow.

Would it be possible if could you do a short vid on the idea that chewing the food at least 10times or more is better for the digestion which I’ve heard people say helps with not gaining weight or it really doesn’t matter how the food is consumed, it’s just calories vs calories out? Hello from a fellow New Yawker! Love this and all your other videos!. Thrilled to see how much your channel has grown over the past several months! Just my two cents about the Lumen. From my experience with it, there is some merit to it, BUT....only if you already are doing all the other work to improve your health (being in a calorie deficit, exercising consistently, etc.). Using the device 30 min. before and after I workout has helped me determine if and how many carbs to add to my next meals, since I have a tendency to take in too many. That in turn helps me keep my carbs in check, which I feel is helping me get the results I'm working so hard for. At 52 years old, precision is key to losing body fat.

    For the cold sculpting thing
    It can be dangerous, leave freeze burns etc. But risks are pretty much always there with any procedure
    However I find that those risks are pretty much always hidden with we are talking plastic changes
    Did you know Botox can get you blind? Yep. That's a risk.
    Did you know dermarolling, even with clean tools and a professional doing it can leave scars and/or lead to your skin fighting back, creating think skin in all places it's been damaged? Yep. That's a risk
    However we almost never hear about it in plastic procedures.
    The only reason I know about the blindness thing with botox is because I am exploring that possibility for migraines, where benefits and risks are often discussed in more details

    I bought the Bala bangles, and they ripped! I was still in the return period, so I got a refund. I found another UA-camr’s review and got an Amazon dupe. They are higher quality and more comfortable. But the originals...ugh.

    You should definitely also draw the line at these stomach balloon things. They might seem less icky than something like the diverse set of laxative tea things but to me it seems like this is some sort of plastic that goes into your stomach. What can it do there? How does it get out? What other things can go wrong?
    Seriously - I think that the laxative teas are much more safe healthwise because they are likely dosed in a way that is not harmful to a healthy adult if used occasionally. Just unpleasant and ineffective.

    I think the lumen is super overpriced and I totally agree about foundational stuff. But couldn’t it potentially help someone get into better eating habits and maybe not have to use it forever?

    • @JustinaErcole

      What eating habits do you mean? I don’t think that the average person needs to know if they’re using carbs or fats for energy every time they eat.

      Being in a calorie deficit.

    • @JustinaErcole
      @JustinaErcole  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately you cannot choose where your body loses fat from, that's determined by your genetics. But to lose body fat from all over, you'll simply need to be taking in less energy (calories) than you're expending. AKA a calorie deficit. Hope that helps!
