    I am 100% percent on the Caroline Girvan bandwagon. However everything you said is 100% true, she is advanced and I adjust my weights to be 70% easier than hers and I stop many times before doing an exercise in her program in order to understand what she is doing, to get my limbs in order.
    All that being said, I love her program while being aware of the structure and the level of endurance and strength required.
    Love the Vid! Also, the veggie-sweet strategy is great! Thank you!

      I have been following her for approx one year. I was a beginner when I started EPIC and I still only use like 50 or 60 % of the weights she uses. She is so damn advanced, but no one shouldnt care about her weights. Everyone has a different starting point. Her content is also strategic, however I finde some movements to be rather hard and especially the HIIT workouts are sometimes too difficult movement wise. Many women cant so push ups and if there are 5 different fast push up variations it is impossible to do it properly or even fast. That is sometimes a bit frustrating but what doesnt kill you makes you stronger 🤣

    I'm sad because I also loved Cassie in 2013/2014. The positive attitude, her workouts that were beginner friendly, etc.
    Then I noticed during quarantine, she started spending so much time addressing her haters- like way more than needed or i wanted to see. maybe because the backlash was so strong, her response was so strong in return? either way, i was like "thats not what i came here for"
    and the 90 day journey legit seemed like one long advertisement when at the end she was like "and now there is a journal!"
    and i loved her journal and the artword her friend did for them (the old cartoon style girls/women). the art was different body types and it was so empowering. and then her journals just became the generic thin paper crap. and she could have released the journal without this 90 day journey ad. idk i love sydney too but her workouts don't seem beginner friendly, even with modifications :/ by the time she switches to another workout, i barely got two reps in. love her though, just not for me!

    I love love love this video. Huge Caroline Girvan fan, as personally I love the challenge I get from the workouts. It is definitely adnvanced for sure and I never use the weight she uses with barbells and still get quite a bit of a challenge. I’m a big Sydney and Caroline fan here. I used to love Blogilates back 10 years ago when she only posted great Pilates workouts. I think she’s sort of lost her voice.
    (To be honest, I was curious about trying the 75 hard to see if I can manage more than 2 days of it haha! Seems like a fun challenge for people who ALREADY have a good healthy routine with their diet and exercise. It’s not a good way to create a routine!)

    Glad you touched on the whole body positivity and intuitive eating. I feel like people have gone way overboard and basically the message is you should eat whatever makes you happy. From what I’ve learned, intuitive eating does involve eliminating restrictions of food, both physical and mental (if you mentally restrict and tell yourself chocolate is unhealthy bc sugar or calories or wtv, you may crave it even more because it becomes like a forbidden good). Some people I’ve noticed allow themselves those foods, but they listen to their body and how it feels when they eat that (which may feel good or bad), and ultimately they intuitively balance it with more nutrient dense food based on how they’re feeling and what they crave (maybe veggies, sweets, protein, carbs, etc.) this comes with less cravings for those foods they were once obsessed with. Avoiding overeating and binging and feelings of physical unwellness (for example fatigue or toothache) are also important, so it’s not just eat whatever you want if it makes you physically uncomfortable. To me, it seems like intuitive eating is about listening to your body and helps build a healthier relationship with food if one’s unhealthy behaviors are caused by restriction. However as you can imagine, if the issue isn’t restriction, intuitive eating may not be the solution to that. Also alcohol is not really included in intuitive eating in the same way as food. Bottom line is intuitive eating may not work for everybody, it’s meant to help build a healthier relationship with food for those who have unhealthy behaviors rooting back to physical or mental restriction of food. (Sorry for the long comment, I learned a lot about intuitive eating this year and it’s just so interesting to me)

    I actually agree with you. When I started Caroline's workouts I thought they were too tough for me and just too unrealistic to follow. But I somehow continued because I just found her so endearing and I could not stop. I, of course, used lighter weights throughout as Caroline is "BeastMode" level 😜. But this woman ended up turning my life around, the gains that I have seen continuing Caroline's workouts, I honestly owe everything to her. Her workouts are tough but if you somehow power through you will see HUGE gains! I have honestly never been stronger. She is an absolute queen. Please try her EPIC series, I really hope you like that one 😍

    I appreciate the Sydney love soooo much! I was on a fitness grind and was just getting torn by blogilates, chloe ting, lilly, etc because my joints hurt and the workouts were so hard for me as a beginner and they seemed to be doing them so easy-peazy!
    I found Sydney around the time where she was recovering from getting shot and every workout I did with her, she was sweating, breathing hard, and even would take a break to readjust. I could tell that she knew they were hard, good workouts and she was exhausted too (and did the FULL workout! Not just a 15 minute clip that I replay 4x). She honestly made me feel good to workout despite being so bad at it 😂 and thank you for reminding me of her for my post holiday health plans, love your videos and the informative way that you explain everything while also being so casual~

    Those influencers pushing intuitive eating, what they don’t say or fail to understand, they had been macro/calorie tracking for years prior. They subconsciously know all about the calorie intake the macros & all that.
    So no, building a great physique with intuitive eating based on ignorance like most of people would isn’t effective, if anything it’s counterproductive.

    • @JustinaErcole
      @JustinaErcole  2 роки тому +1

      THIS! That's why I do think that tracking is a good tool that everyone should do at some point if possible, just to help understand the energy a certain amount of food contains. Thanks so much for watching!

    You nailed it with Blogilates. I still like her old workouts but I feel like after she lost some weight she became someone else. She used to be so relatable and her body seemed more attainable. But she definitely felt the need the need to fit a mold under the guise of trying to feel like her old self. I think know she just seems like a celebrity whereas before she seemed like a good friend. I'm a huge Caroline fan, but I don't see what was bad about your review of her workouts. From memory I think your take was they were more focused on muscular hypertrophy and athletic strength rather than everyday functional fitness, (and you gave her 8.8 out of 10, so it wasn't a rubbish score). Sydney's workouts are challenging but manageable if use appropriate amounts of weights and speed.With her, I gradually develop more consistent exercise habit and better feelings of doing exercises. It is nice to have this kind of workouts time to time but energy-consuming if do them on daily base.

    I totally agree w/ your judgement toward the marketing aspect of 12-3-30 - however, I do want to say that as someone starting off very overweight, inexperienced and unable to run/ go very fast, I really enjoyed 12-3-30. I feel like it’s a real sweet spot for a lot of people because it’s a good 30 min workout that works up a good sweat, but isn’t particularly advanced. For me as a beginner, it made it super simple for me to have a “prescribed” speed, incline, etc that felt challenging but still doable. I totally agree with your take that the marketing is bogus (it totally is bogus), but I think it got so popular because so many people find it manageable

    Great video! Sydney is my everyday trainer and I haven’t used any other fitness trainers since I found her. I tried Caroline Girvan once before I found Sydney but I personally like to be coached through my workouts. I used to do Rebecca Louise workouts for a while. I did find her videos effective but idk, she’s a very superficial “abs in two weeks” kind of person and it annoyed me. I think Gymra and Popsugar are both great fitness channels but not if you’re specifically trying to follow a program. They’re more for if you’re just searching for a random workout to do.

    "Walking workout"... or like it's called in Germany: common day movement.🙈
    But yeah, it's great if you work on a desk 7 to 10 hours.
    But if you walk to your collegeaues in the office, get a glass of water from the kitchen every hour and go by public transport, in Germany it's pretty easy to get to 10,000 steps per day. I love that everything is so near on everything so we can walk often.

    • @JustinaErcole
      @JustinaErcole  3 місяці тому

      Unfortunately the majority of America is unwalkable. Most places don’t have sidewalks.

    • @lizzymueller3604
      @lizzymueller3604 3 місяці тому

      @@JustinaErcole yeah, that's a problem. Here in Germany we are rather like "Oh my, there are no stores nearby, you need to use a car for everything😵" when someone moves to rather small towns.
      My stepmom was once in the US as a young adult with a friend and they decided to walk to the supermarket because it was only like 3 Kilometer away (that's ratje a leisure stroll in Germany as long as there are no inklines). So... on their way to the store they got passed by police and where watched funnily. When they went back the policecar stopped beside them and they got asked, what they do. They explained and also mentioned they are from Germany. And the policeman told them to use the car next time, because they where suspissious😅🙈
      So... it's not only the distances but also the activity itself, at least back in the 90's. And that's so unfortunate because it keeps people rather healthy. There are many people with a pouch in Germany, but seldom really fat people. And I guess one part to that is the day-to-day movement which isn't considered Sport. And the fact that there is not artificial sugar in really everything 🙈 (it gets worse though). And that the portion sizes are small compared to the US.
      Which shows (at least for me): it's really calories in vs. calories out even if there are conditions that make it harder to loose or gain weight. That's additional.

    Stomach vacuums can be effective for certain people (specially women who had children or who are struggling with urinary incontinence) and I think it can be detrimental to present them the way tiktokers do (usually to the wrong audience). LPF/Hypopressive exercises have very specific cues to good performance and it isn’t just “sucking your stomach”. The same goes to stomach vacuums in yoga (known as “kapabhati pranayama”).

    I love Caroline Girvan because she’s hard. There is a big gap in the online fitness market for intermediate/advanced at home workouts and she is bridging it! There are hundreds, if not thousands or programs marketing for beginners working out at home, and a lot of intense gym workouts but for people like me, who have been athletic their whole lives, yet are in a place where the gym doesn’t fit in, Caroline is a godsend!!!! I feel like for a second she tried to target a more beginner market and I was about to cry when she did, but I was wrong she went back to her core brand!

    I stumbled upon this video and subscribed to your channel once I watched. Thank you so much for speaking the truth about the body positivity movement. I listen to this one podcast that goes over diet fads and what is wrong with them, which is informative. However, they hosts often -times diet shame in general with a defeatist attitude. "You can lose weight with any diet but you will gain it back. Just because they gave up with it doesn't mean others can't strive for being healthy. They don't even boost the healthy aspect. Like in the latest episode she said she doesn't want anyone talking to her about what diest they are doing because she feels like they are shaming her. But maybe they are telling her this because she has a podcasts about diets???? Sigh. But yeah, I have had to turn off their podcast a few times when they diet shame. It's all about lifestyle change and being healthy. If you love how your body is and healthy, that's great. No matter how much you weigh.

    I'm disappointed that Sydney Cumming gets a higher ranking then Caroline Girvan. I know this is just 'your' opinion but not ranking Caroline in the 'best - YAS' category along with Sydney in what you think is the best fitness trend blows my mind. As someone how has been training for 15+ years, and who has followed youtubers for at least 6 years I have to disagree with this. Sydney is indeed great and before moving to Caroline she was my go to, but her programs do not produce the results like Caroline's do (along with other issues I found in them over the years). Yes, Caroline can cater to the more advanced, but that doesn't make her worse then Sydney Cummings. People of all fitness levels follow Caroline. There is a reason Caroline's following has exploded in such a short period of time.

      Hi Karen - you're entitled to your opinion just like I am! I think you missed the point that I'm coming from the viewpoint of a functional strength coach. So I have done Sydney Cummings for about two years and do love her workouts HOWEVERRRRR her form is terrible. I cringe when I watch her do things, and most of the time I contribute her terrible form to her using to heavy dumbbells. I am a personal trainer as well (certified), a certified nutritionist, a group exercise instructor, and a certified yoga instructor so I’m not bashing her. But truly I hesitate to recommend her to clients sometimes if they are beginners because I do not want them to copy what she’s doing.

I’m sure you understand, as a trainer and group fitness instructor it is SO NICE to not have to plan my own workouts!!!!! I mainly do Caroline Girvan now, but I agree her workouts are more advanced.
