    Thanks for this. I'm working on a belt squeal on our 2006 Altima 3.5L. Hoping it's not the A/C after watching this. Only does it on the first startup of the day, and does it less if the A/C is turned off at startup. The fun continues....

      I assume you have changed the belt and checked/replaced the tensioner. It may not be the A/C even if it does not do it or does it less with it turned off. The A/C may just be adding enough load to cause it. When mine first started, I could rev the engine and it would go away, but it got progressively worse. I would suggest watching the pullies and having someone else start the car, watch for a pully hanging up. (I know easier said then done, not much room in there.) Might want to use a bright colored paint pen to put on a mark on each pully (not the compressor clutch, but the actual pully) and see if anything hangs. Good luck and feel free to reach out with questions. I may not always have an answer, but I am always willing to try to help.

    Nice work. I was hoping to see the clear tube turn black when you cleaned the lines but you skipped it.
    Gotta get the kid to help on his car.

      So, so many reasons. LOL! So this was 8 1/2 hours of content condensed down, so a lot was clipped. But honestly, that cleaning gun jetted that stuff through the system so fast that it was never seen in the clear hose. It just went from gun to bucket!
      As for #1 son, he really has no interest in working on cars sadly. #3 will be out there with me eventually. However, #1 did "help" by riding up the lift in the car and starting it so I could watch stuff. I just did not end up filming that part. :(

    Car designers should be required to work on the car they create, so they can understand and deal with the problems of working on a car. MAYBE they would allow a little more room in them to repair stuff.
    Wait a tool that Glenn doesn't have?!?!?!

      It has absolutely become about the speed at which the car can be assembled on the line and never about what it will take to fix it. Terrible.
      And yes, there are a few tools I do not have, but I am working constantly to fix that. LOL!

    Hey so If I brought mine to a mechanic what would I ask him to do? i cant do this myself

    • @FunKingGarage
      @FunKingGarage  Рік тому +1

      The best piece of advise that I can give for when taking a care to a mechanic is to only describe the issue. Tell them exactly what it is doing and if it is intermittent, tell them what conditions it does it under. Also if you have attempted to repair the issue yourself, let them know that and what you did. Let them do the diagnostics and determine what the problem is. If you are not 100% sure on what your issue is, and you tell them "Hey, I need you to replace my A/C compressor." And they do it, but it was not the issue, then they will put that on you. Let them check it and come up with a diagnosis. Are they always going to be correct? Nope. Many times I have heard of situations where a mechanic will swap parts until the problem is fixed and charge the customer for all the parts they didn't actually need. So choose your mechanic carefully. Hope this helps.

    My car has the same noise. And my ac has never worked. Ac compressor ? Belts are brand new

      Could be, might not be. There are so many things that can cause the A/C to not work and there are a handful of things that will make the belt squeal. Grab a mechanic's stethoscope from Harbor Freight or Amazon (amzn.to/3U1l9N3) for about $7 and CAREFULLY probe around until you find the noise. You will likely hear it from multiple places, but the right one will be the loudest/clearest. You did not mention if you car was also a Maxima. What year make and model are you working with?
