Not only that, but the equity is retained by retired partners or other firms who buyout the firm. So either way, non equity partners are screwed. Add to that the horrific competitive environment for low pay and it creates a toxic high turnover environment.

It will never be solved because the solution requires partners to make less money. They would rather send the work to India or invest in AI.

You have do you own business as soon as you have enough experience probably in taxes but soon more folks will easily use ai to do their iwn returns or eventually taxes will be based on consumer purchase rathwr than income which makes more sense to tax the underground economy
