I spent about $90 on eBay for the original earlier this year. Honestly it was a great price compared to others available. Will probably grab a couple of these. I love the look of the Aerodyne COEs!
Awesome kit and you did a fantastic job building the kit. Greg Evigan and the other cast members would be proud. Now you only need the matching trailer to complete the build.
Great job Louie! I have a special place in my heart for those Kenworth Aerodyne's. Growing up, my neighbor drove a truck. He had a Spirit of 76 addition cabover Aerodyne. Beautiful trucks
No, the computer turned some footage upside down when it uploaded. Did that two other times too, if you watched the entire video. 😉. I was going to take it down and fix it, but it’s got so many views. Just leaving it
That was a great build, if I had more space and time I would like build a few large trucks, thanksvfor sharing this build, best regards from Australia, Les
And again Outstanding work up Louie! Also a thanks for showing the kit decals as it is quite an improvement over the originals with their dot matrix printing. 😮
Great kit & video. Your progress is looking very good. I've been waiting for this kit for a long time. Hoping that it hits my local hobby shop's shelves in time for Christmas. Take care👍 Tom S.
I love the Tamya liquid glue, I take toothpick cut at about a 60° angle , dip it in glue lift it and you have a ball of glue on end, hold the parts together, touch the seam and it will wick around the seam on its own. No brushing
I remember seeing this kit, but I never bought it. Now that it's being released again, I have it on order with my local Hobbytown in Westminster, Colorado
The center tube section of the Tamiya brush can be pulled out to reach down farther into a low bottle if that's why you are shaking bottle. Nice video build of the KW Aerodyne.👍
You are the best that was a fabulous job you did building that beautiful model. I love it and I will always watch your channel and keep your great work and stay safe and well.
Very nicely built. Looks like the one I have here with the trailer also. Only thing I did to mine was shorten the frame on the truck like it was on the show. Great looking 👀 built sir!!
I liked watching "BJ and the Bear" when I was a child, and for me the truck was the main attraction because I just loved its design. Looking at this one, it seems like the Revell model is a newer version of it and it carries a six cylinder rather than a V8 turbo diesel.
Great build Louie. It would be nice if they made this in a snap-tight kit for us that have a few more challenges. You make it look so easy. How much do you study the assembly instructions? Glad you showed the pin striping technique. Be safe. I'll be waiting for the next build.
Do you feel having your parts hung from the top of your spray booth helps with air flow?😁 Just got to the end with display upside down as well - love that you left that. My kid walked by and said how did he do that? I told her it helps keep the paint from dripping to the bottom……. In all seriousness, that is a beautiful build, lots of detail and I like that parts are modeled separately and assembled as part of the build. I’m sure it’s gonna inspire a bunch more BJ & the Bear builds at the up coming model shows. Nice work Louie!
I've been eyeing that kit, but I NEED heavy equipment to scale to haul or it doesn't make sense. Nobody makes CAT backhoes or bulldozers or anything like that. I might have to pull the trigger on this rig though. Thanks for the demo, tips, and entertaining build
Amt makes a Bulldozer and low boy trailer combo. If you go back on my videos a bit, you’ll see how I weathered it. I have an International truck pulling it. Happy Modeling
I built the B. J. and the Bear truck when it came out in 1979, that kit had the wrong frame. It was to long, i think AMT used the Tyrone Malone papa truck because the frame for that truck was long for the deck to support the dragster truck.
I was thinking the same thing. When I saw they were re releasing this kit, I was hoping it would have a shorter frame, but I see they stuck with the Malone frame. Its all good though. Just gives it that stretched look.
I have some photos of a Kenworth k200 aerodyne a guy made from ice block stick's it was as good as a model you buy even the air lines on the boosters and chassis Bolt's were carved the same details were inside the cabin he was off a large sum of money buy the Kenworth distributor in Australia
Nice kit but it would be nice to start offering something like this in 1/16 scale it would fit right in with my monogram models 1/16 scale Kenworth W-900 and my Peterbilt 359 in 1/16 scale
The international was an originally issued by Ertl before AMT did it. This is bit more challenging. Take your time and you should be fine. I appreciate you watching!! Happy Modeling
@@jeffhower8566Yes;the decals that come with the retooled & reissued AMT & MPC big rig kits, are all water slide and are an improvement to the origional decals and peel & stick stickers that would have came with the origional issued release of this kit 20,30,40,50 years ago.The decals and the peel & stick stickers that the older issued releases of this kit came with were not very accurate;they were not very readable, the colors were out of register, and the decals used to be so brittle that they were extremely prone to discentigrading when dipped in water;e.g. the old water slide decals would chip & crack when either dipped in warm water with a drop of dawn dish soap added to break the water surface tension,or when positioning them on the model after applying them onto the model;which was why most modelers either didn't use the kit supplied decals and just kept a plain & simple clean look;or they used after market decals such as Cartograph or they used an ink jet laser printer some Testors decal paper and a can of Testors Dull Cote sealer, and made their own water slide decals that were of much better quality when compared to the kit supplied decals. With the new and improved expanded water slide decal sheet that comes in this retooled & reissued kit;I recommend using either Tamiya Mark Fit Strong,or the two part Micro Scale Industries Micro Sol & Micro Set decal setting solutions to soften the decals to get them to fold over & settle over the raised contours of the door hinges, and into the recessed panel lines of the air vents & the storage compartment doors.Avoid using Walther's Solvaset decal setting solution with the new & improved expanded decal sheet that comes in every retooled & reissued AMT & MPC big rig kit;as that setting solution is much too strong for the decals and you run the risk of the decals potentially being dissolved or becoming prone to chipping & cracking, when doing the final positioning of the decals on the model after application.
By the way super paint job. I have the AMT BJ and the bear Kennworth. Started it many years ago (more than 35) ,messed up the paint, then put it away. After seeing your build. I'm going to strip it and start over. Thanks for the inspiration.👍
Yes you’re correct. When I searched for colors for the engine , Silver and Alpine green showed up as correct. I just liked the contrast of the green better. Thanks for watching.
I’m glad you enjoy the channel. Being Autistic is a super power, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Some things can be difficult. But never let it get you down or set you back. I appreciate you watching. More videos coming out soon. With the holidays and such, I’ve been really busy lately. Not to worry, more to come. Happy Modeling
I felt a little embarrassed when I saw this kit was being reissued, I have an original release in my very small stash I'm hoping to get to " one day " as I'm sure many others do to.
Wow! It's hard to believe its been that long since I built that kit. With tube glue even! Mine was blue only because i had it left over from a custom bicycle frame i painted. Definitely not near as nice as yours. Nice tribute to BJ and the Bear. Cheers Terry
This kit had 4 different versions, and it's based on the Tyrone Malone Hideout Truck and it's quite accurate for that truck wich was a 1978 wich was the first year for the Air Glide 100 8 bag suspension and it has the right engine, transmission and interior. The other versions of this kit are Tyrone Malone's Papa Truck, the BJ and the Bear truck and this kit. The Papa truck kit is not really correct as the real truck was a 1976 K100 Bicentennial VIT 200 edition truck and it had torsion bar suspension and a different interior, some other small things is also different like cab vent placements. The Malone transporter kits don't have the 5th wheel and had the transporter body instead otherwise it's the same kit as this one...the original BJ kit had a shorter frame. The real BJ and the Bear trucks had different engines and and transmissions and as I said a shorter wheelbase, otherwise it's nearly there. Some downsides with this kit is the front bumper is not correct dimensions so it's too small, and none of the Kenworth K100 Aerodyne kits available has a correct dash, not even the Revell Germany kit, because the K100 Aerodyne got a different dash from the flat top K100's starting with the 1976 Bicentennial VIT 200 edition wich was the first to get this dash and all K100C Aerodyne's after that had that dash and the K100E's had it regardless of cab model. The dash in both the AMT and Revell Germany kits are flat top dashes. Texas3DCustoms have a 3D printed more correct dash wich I helped develop some time ago.
I built this kit 42 years ago. Brings back memories!
Very cool extensive build!! Came out awesome, now I wanna do one lol
My OCD won't let me glue without scraping paint off first. Kudos to you my friend.
Yeah that's the original kit box art.
I was kicking myself in the butt selling it years ago. Good to see it come back out!!!
I have a trailer that I plan on building for it. I also got decals for Sheriff Lobos police car too.
Perfect!
As a kid back then, I watched every single episode.
Nice build......
It be cool if they would rerelease the actual BJ& Bear kit
Great job buddy BJ and the Bear
Great job Louie! I have a special place in my heart for those Kenworth Aerodyne's. Growing up, my neighbor drove a truck. He had a Spirit of 76 addition cabover Aerodyne. Beautiful trucks
I built this truck in high school, it’s still in a box somewhere in my parents attic
Is it just me that had to stand on my head to enjoy the final reveal?
No, the computer turned some footage upside down when it uploaded. Did that two other times too, if you watched the entire video. 😉. I was going to take it down and fix it, but it’s got so many views. Just leaving it
FANTASTIC!! Really came out great Louie, the paint is awesome!!
That was a great build, if I had more space and time I would like build a few large trucks, thanksvfor sharing this build, best regards from Australia, Les
Watched it last night 😎 The exhaust system & pipes was very fiddley to put together but you got there in the end, love the model.
And again Outstanding work up Louie!
Also a thanks for showing the kit decals as it is quite an improvement over the originals with their dot matrix printing. 😮
Very well done on the K100 Aero Louie! She looks great!
This brings back memories. One of my first builds was a Freightliner conventional. White with orange and brown stripes.
Great kit & video. Your progress is looking very good. I've been waiting for this kit for a long time. Hoping that it hits my local hobby shop's shelves in time for Christmas. Take care👍
Tom S.
Looks absolutely amazing. You do such fantastic work
Thank you very much
Great job brought back some good memories of a better time ! Thanks for sharing ✌Canada✌
So stoked about this kit! Thanks Louie!!
Awesome job in joy your day
Love the colour scheme, excellent result!!
I love the Tamya liquid glue, I take toothpick cut at about a 60° angle , dip it in glue lift it and you have a ball of glue on end, hold the parts together, touch the seam and it will wick around the seam on its own. No brushing
Awesome job and BJ and the Bear
Super Cool truck! Amazing detail.
Awesome build 😊
You are doing a BJ and the bear style truck 🚚 awesome dude 😊😊😊😊
I remember seeing this kit, but I never bought it. Now that it's being released again, I have it on order with my local Hobbytown in Westminster, Colorado
I’m glad you changed your mind. It’s a great kit!! Thank you for watching
That's one nice looking big rig.
The center tube section of the Tamiya brush can be pulled out to reach down farther into a low bottle if that's why you are shaking bottle.
Nice video build of the KW Aerodyne.👍
Great tip thank you!!
Well done Sir!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful❤ thankyou always grateful
Many thanks.Reegards from Germany
Thank you for watching!! I do apologize about the upside down part. Apparently my computer did something crazy when it uploaded.
Nice Very Nice Build 🐎Mr. ED Says just have fun modeling
Sweet lookn build louie
Looks like truck from BJ and bear tv programme in 80s
That's exactly what I was thinking! Us older folks will relate to that! Lol
He does actually say that he painted it like the BJ & the Bear truck, and he got aftermarket decals for that specific truck.
You are the best that was a fabulous job you did building that beautiful model. I love it and I will always watch your channel and keep your great work and stay safe and well.

Something that's from a classic TV series. 📺
Great build Louie. It would be nice if they made this in a snap-tight kit for us that have a few more challenges. You make it look so easy. How much do you study the assembly instructions? Glad you showed the pin striping technique. Be safe. I'll be waiting for the next build.
I looked them over a few minutes and dived right in!! Happy Modeling
Yeah I've done that KIT back 1977 it's great kits big but a great kit,
Awesome kit. You hardly ever see cabover trucks on the road anymore.
Thank our government for that
Do you feel having your parts hung from the top of your spray booth helps with air flow?😁
Just got to the end with display upside down as well - love that you left that.

Holy cow!!! That loaded that way!! lol 😝 I reviewed it before I posted it. But computers. What can I say. Thank you for watching!!!
@@TheAutisticModeler I thought maybe you edited that upside-down portion in Australia.
The ending was filmed in Australia 😂
Dang computer!!! 😝. Not sure why that part only did that. My master video on my computer is fine. Oh well. 😃

That dozer is a D-8 but due to copyright issues they had to redo the art and decals.
Cheers
Terry
had this kit back around 1980
I built the B. J. and the Bear truck when it came out in 1979, that kit had the wrong frame. It was to long, i think AMT used the Tyrone Malone papa truck because the frame for that truck was long for the deck to support the dragster truck.
Yes you’re correct. It is the same underpinnings.
Nice! What advantages do you find using the Ace Hardware paint vs. the Rustoleum? Thank you!
Cheaper. Lays real smooth. Doesn’t react with other paints. Good stuff
It’s the Tyrone Malone “Hideout Trick” /“Papa Truck” kit, minus the transporter bed parts.
The BJ and the Bear truck has a shorter wheelbase.
I was thinking the same thing. When I saw they were re releasing this kit, I was hoping it would have a shorter frame, but I see they stuck with the Malone frame. Its all good though. Just gives it that stretched look.
The box art is from the 1980 issue of the kit I personally have the 1980issue in my collection it was reissued in 2002

The international was an originally issued by Ertl before AMT did it. This is bit more challenging. Take your time and you should be fine. I appreciate you watching!! Happy Modeling
Do you ever have problems with Ace Hardware spray paint? Sometimes it hazes over when I use it.
I’ve noticed that too, when that happens, I put on another one or two light coats and it’s good. Thank you for watching.
You forgot to mention that it comes with the optional anti-gravity kit that you showed off near the end f the video.
True! For some reason when it uploaded. My computer turned some parts upside down. Computers what can I say!! 😆
R the decals water slide?
The original was a dry transfer decal
Decals are water slide. The BJ & The bear are NOT included in this kit.
@@TheAutisticModeler the decals that come with the kit!

Is that tamiya quick setting glue and does it show ?
It works great. Not sure I understand your question on “Does it show”.
I've seen people put the glue on the seams. Can you see the glue after its dry. Or is it invisible.
