Wow....that is an awesome haul of history and civil war goodies!! Never gets old watching you all dig those bullets, buttons and coins! Mike in wet Florida
Oh man!!!!! Spanish SILVER!!! Skeleton key, heel plates, buttons, Eagle button, seated silver! You werent lying that is a day we all dream about! You guys killed it, WOW! Congrats to you both!
Thank you brother! It’s funny because once I’m done with a video generally I’m done with it. This is one though I have to go back a rewatch every now and again though because it was just a fun hunt. That wiped farmfield copper turned out to be a Virginia half-penny and I was able to tell that by side-lighting it when I got home
Congratulations on your first Reale. Now do you think it's true that solders wore heel plates too? Thanks for sharing my friend. "Chris-Preserving the Past Archaeology "
Awesome finds! What resources do you use to know where old plantations/civil war sites were? I live in GA near where the Battle of Chickamauga was and I hope to get out and search soon! I just don’t know where to look.
Hey bud- so sometimes it can simply be as simple as looking at battle maps and then door knocking properties close to that for permissions. Hunting battle areas are cool- but we’ve found the best relics come from camps. It does make sense- they were in the camps far longer than they were battlefields. That’s not to say we don’t find cool things where the battles took place- just that at camps you’re more likely to find carved bullets or buttons or things of a more personal nature. Locating camps can be a lot more difficult and usually involves some reading or research. I have found good information reading diaries or books written by soldiers that fought in the engagement I was researching and often they go into a lot of description as to exactly where they were. I also do a lot of map research at the library of congress and other resources online
Thank you for watching! Me and my digging buddy Travis live in Central NC but we do the majority of our Civil War digging in Virginia. I really appreciate you taking the time to say hi! You’re welcome to join our FB group as well. Same name!

Hey buddy! I don’t think they were widely issued to troops, but I suspect some of them brought them from home and put them on their boots
Thanks Chris!
