Heard the loud whistle in my house it was driving me crazy I kept bleeding the pipes kept doing everything till I saw your video after two weeks of chasing the problem. You’re the one that helped me solve it. Thank you !
Dude, you have drastically improved my quality of life. I seriously thought this was some old piece of equipment in my wall making the noise. Had no idea I could fix this for such little money. The ease of the job at hand was conveyed so clearly that it gave me the confidence to get this done. Thank you sir.
Well done video. I replaced the old, whistling fill valves on 3 toilets. The 1st one took about an hour. The 3rd one took less than 30 minutes. Only tools needed were pliers and scissors (to cut the tubing). I purchased the upgraded Korky fill valves with the 10 year warranty. They are supposed to last 2 times longer. They were about $15 each, not $10 but seemed like a good value. The directions in the package were clear and easy to follow. No leaks. No more whistling. Thank you for making this video. It should give everyone who is even marginally handy the confidence to tackle this fairly simple home project.
My man, I was just about to call a plumber and UA-camd the issue for the “Hail Mary”! I think you just saved me a ton of money. Heading to the hardware store now. Many thanks.
I can't believe I found a video with the exact problem I'm having! Toilet squeals when I turn on that bathroom's faucet...I was so afraid I had a huge problem on my hands. I've never replaced a fill valve, but you made it look easy enough I'm not afraid to do it. Thanks so much for putting this out there!
Dude you made this super easy...I am currently having the same problem you just showed, when every I run my water in the sink the toilet starts shrieking, I thought I was losing my stuff! You made this very easy to follow and will save me some mad cash by installing this myself. Thank you so much for this awesome video. You got a like from me my friend!!
Well explained, with one major miss. The small fill hose was improperly placed to begin with, as well as after repair. The tank (top) does not fill through that tiny hose, the bowl (bottom) does. It needs to dump water in the center recepticle of the flush cylinder/overflow tube. It's job is to refill the bowl after a flush, otherwise bowl water level will be low. This decreases flush performance and P00 will smear and stick to the throne. The small adjustment valve is so the bowl is filled at same time tank reches full, without wasting water.
I wish I could understand better what you mean, I think you explained it well, I'm just not very good at all this. I installed a new wax ring, flange bolts and new gasket and bolts for the bowl to tank assembly, immediately after refilling the tank to test for leaks I went to wash my hands and heard the squeaking noise which seems to stop once I press hard on it to one side but it seems to be trying to constantly fill the tank. All these hours for nothing but now new things to look up 🤦🏼♀️
I was thinking to myself throughout this entire video (why does my little fill hose (where the fill water comes out to fill the tank) have have a clip on it, and it’s clipped so that it stays inside that center receptacle/flush cylinder (in your video it shows you fill the tank up and water nearly reaches the top of the center receptacle) It made be question if my fill tube has been wrong for the last few years….. . SO THANK YOU KIND SIR FOR RELIEVING MY ANXIETY!
Kinda late to the party here but I had a squealing toilet and watched your video. Bought the part you recommended at Home Depot the same day. Fixed it like you showed and my issue is solved! Thank you so much for the clear instructions and video. It was hella easy! You need experience with plumbing to do this!
Absolutely spot on. Excellent instructions and video. Nice to have a DYI project go exactly as shown plus it saved us the cost of a plumber. Thank you!
I am probably twice your age (Gen X) and at least half as handy but I bought what you bought and did what you did and enjoy SILENCE after every flush. Thanks tons for throwing this vid up!!!
Good informative video. I've done this many times. Once I flush the tank to remove as much of the water as possible. I use my wet vac to remove the rest. Sometimes there is not enough room for a pan to catch the rest of the water and easy clean up.
Great video, great directions. I haven’t made the repair yet. I was wondering, why does it squeal when you turn the sink on? My toilet squeals at random times, for example when I’m watching tv.
Yay! Thank you! I will be getting this fixed. I was afraid it was something wrong with the pipes. It sounded like it was screaming! I was afraid it would be majorly expensive.
Besides the fill hose being placed improperly, hammer on the nail. I work as a plumber and we charged a client $350 for a “medium rebuild”, being a fill valve and flapper replacement. Obviously the plumbers will charge way more for their business and I think it’s totally acceptable if you lack the confidence because working with water is very scary and dangerous to your home but some jobs take the smallest bit of effort and research and you’ll save hundreds.
Sometimes its even cheaper than this, there is a rubber gasket called a inlet valve seal under the blue area that if you can replace is even cheaper than replacing the whole assembly, even I didn't know about until I replaced like 2 of them. Its company specific, so you have to know/find out the brand of your fill valve but if you google toilet fill/inlet valve seal there it is
Replace that water valve with a newer 1/4" turn valve, the older style always seems to inevitably fail and leak or even won't shut off. Every 3-4 months, cycle all the 1/4" turns in the house to avoid any internal crufty build-up.
Replaced my squealing fill valve today…was very easy and under $10 like mentioned. Thank goodness I don’t have to hear that squeal anymore! So glad I found this video as it was one of the best so far, so thank you! 😎
I think u just answered my problem. My ELJER toilet has a air shock sounding shhhh when flushing ang filling. toilet has a rod with floating ball style. So I guess the universal style u have can replace the old style rod and ball style I have, right ?
Wow thank you for doing such an excellent job in this tutorial if I had a second bathroom and wasn’t afraid if something went wrong I would certainly try this myself thank you
I just installed a new fill valve with stopper.but the water keeps leaking from the tank into the bowl and so the water in the tank keeps refilling every 3minutes.i cant find where the leak is coming from.the flopper chain is loose and so thats not the problem
I turned off the water and flushed and did that step correctly, however when I went to disconnect that line from the toilet water kept gushing everywhere! It won’t shut off completely and I flooded my bathroom...
My valve also does this if I turn it toward the off position until it stops. However (for mine) the handle stops past the real off position. All I have to do is slowly turn it back toward open to find the true "off" position.
Hi I replaced with the same part as in your video demonstration, the water filled tank up to label, the sound stop but a few minutes after, the water label lower by about an 1" and it start filing the tank with water again, it gets quiet and after a few minutes the water label lower by the same amount. It start filling the tank again and the same process repeats over and over and making noise. Help please, I do not want to have to hire a plumber as they like to charge way too much. Why is causing this issue? What can i do? I thought replacing the part will fix the problem
Thanks for a great helpful video! Did you re-use the black rubber gasket / washer that you pulled out or did the replacement fill valve come with a new one? Thanks
No, you don't have to replace the entire tank kit; there is a seal in the fill valve that has worn out &/or has mineral deposits causing it to leak. You can just replace that seal for even less than the cost of entire tank kit. Search YT for 'toilet squeaks after flushing' and there's an excellent video by hacks by dad if you would like to learn how to just change that.
If you are lucky, you have one like in the video, where you just need a little rubber valve replacement disc from the maker, and the unit comes apart with a 90 degree twist at the top without removing the whole thing. Less than a dollar and 5 minutes to put it in.

There is no old equipment in your wall ! 😁
I am 73 and a woman and these were excellent instructions to help me fix my squealing toilet! Thank you so much.

Great video. No unnecessary talking! Perfect camera work. Thanks a lot!!!
Seriously?!? Did I just fix my screaming toilet that easily? Thank you! Now let’s see if my husband notices. ;)
Good on you!
Hi, did your husband notice it?
I’d just hand him a bill😂😂😂
I can't believe I found a video with the exact problem I'm having! Toilet squeals when I turn on that bathroom's faucet...I was so afraid I had a huge problem on my hands. You're welcome!
Great video. The part cost $8 and it took me 10 minutes (and I'm not even handy). Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Searched a lot of videos and this was by far the best! Thank you!!!
You're welcome!

Thanks!! My toilet sounds like my cat crying for food and it's driving me crazy! Gonna pick this product up this weekend
Good luck!
I'm doing it today!!! Thank you. The noise is driving us crazy.
Absolutely spot on. Excellent instructions and video. Nice to have a DYI project go exactly as shown plus it saved us the cost of a plumber. Thank you!
Thank you for your video. I've had to do this twice now since my husband passed away last year. It was good to see how straightforward this could be.
Glad to help
Guess what?!? I just replaced the fill valve and killed that awful squeal!!!! Thank you so much for this!!!
I've replaced many fill valves and your demo/explanation is excellent. Thanks for posting.
Thank you
This was so well done. I’m now a follower. Convinced me to do this. Love the visible plunger.
Thank you and loved hearing “Lefty Loosy”.
Awesome! Thank you!
I am probably twice your age (Gen X) and at least half as handy but I bought what you bought and did what you did and enjoy SILENCE after every flush. Thanks tons for throwing this vid up!!!
Awesome, thank you!
Oh thank God for this post and letting us hear the sound. Problem solved! God bless you! I cannot wait to fix my toilet.
Great advice. Took me 15 minutes and works perfectly. Thank You
Good informative video. I've done this many times. Once I flush the tank to remove as much of the water as possible. I use my wet vac to remove the rest. Sometimes there is not enough room for a pan to catch the rest of the water and easy clean up.

Thank you for this easy to understand video.
I was going to call a plumber, so glad now that I didn’t, you saved me a lot of money
What she said! Ty:)
Yay! Thank you! I will be getting this fixed. I was afraid it was something wrong with the pipes. It sounded like it was screaming! I was afraid it would be majorly expensive.
Nice, get it done and live quietly again!

It's not totally acceptable.
Fantastic video, you just saved me $100.00 minimum from an American Home Shields service repair. Thank you!
Just used your video to replace my fill valve, super simple but very hard if you don’t know what to do- thank you for the post, easy job made simple!
Thank you very much. Well explained.

Very good. This is just what I need. A Korkey universal fill valve$10 and an adjustable plyor. I am going to try it!! Thanks🤗
Have fun!
Best video to fix a squealing toilet, thanks!👍
You bet. Thanks!
Replace that water valve with a newer 1/4" turn valve, the older style always seems to inevitably fail and leak or even won't shut off. Every 3-4 months, cycle all the 1/4" turns in the house to avoid any internal crufty build-up.
What do you mean exactly when you say “cycle” the 1/4” turns?
@@MrsCluffRN Turn it off and back on a couple times! That's all, to stop it from freezing up from no usage.
Going to Home depot today and try this for my bathroom. Will let you know how I did after I finish. Thank you very much for the video.
It worked, yeaaaaaa!!!! Thank you sooooo much.
Awesome, congrats!
very well explained.. I am going to work on mine now.
Best of luck!
Replaced my squealing fill valve today…was very easy and under $10 like mentioned. Thank goodness I don’t have to hear that squeal anymore! So glad I found this video as it was one of the best so far, so thank you! 😎

You are so welcome!
Wow thank you for doing such an excellent job in this tutorial if I had a second bathroom and wasn’t afraid if something went wrong I would certainly try this myself thank you

Isn’t that hose supposed to be connected with the top of the canister in the center?
I just ordered with your affiliate link, yay!
thank you
Thank you! Thought I had a mouse in the house, appreciate your vid!!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the video...was very helpful
Wasn’t the fill house supposed to be attached to something at the other end?
Thank you sir
Thanks, followed your instructions, loud squeal is gone!
Nice 👍
I just installed a new fill valve with stopper.but the water keeps leaking from the tank into the bowl and so the water in the tank keeps refilling every 3minutes.i cant find where the leak is coming from.the flopper chain is loose and so thats not the problem

Fixed with no issues thanks to you!
Doing this tomorrow.
Great presentation. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Why did you leave the fill tube free and not attached to the flapper fill tube?
Ditto?
I noticed too. I assumed he attached and didn't show.
Hi I replaced with the same part as in your video demonstration, the water filled tank up to label, the sound stop but a few minutes after, the water label lower by about an 1" and it start filing the tank with water again, it gets quiet and after a few minutes the water label lower by the same amount. Why is causing this issue? What can i do? I thought replacing the part will fix the problem
So if I have the toilet that has a push button at the top how do I fix it to stop flowing.
Thank you for your help
Does this work on old crane toilets?
Thanks for a great helpful video! Did you re-use the black rubber gasket / washer that you pulled out or did the replacement fill valve come with a new one? Thanks
Thanks it works now
Thank you
No, you don't have to replace the entire tank kit; there is a seal in the fill valve that has worn out &/or has mineral deposits causing it to leak. You can just replace that seal for even less than the cost of entire tank kit. Search YT for 'toilet squeaks after flushing' and there's an excellent video by hacks by dad if you would like to learn how to just change that.
i dont even have this to replace. mine is much older type, you ''universal'' doesn't match my ancient toilet setup.. nice video lol
Best video out there very clear and precise.im not handy but im going to give it a stab .thanx
shouldn't the hose be connected? That's what fills the bowl?
Thanks for the video 👍👏
My pleasure!
love your channel so far
THANK YOU 👍🙏🏼
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thanks
Can’t wait to try it!
Good luck
I replaced it with the exact part but toilet keeps having a water filling sound, any suggestion?
Awesome video.
Cheers!

Thanks. For this video.
You're welcome
why can't you just pull up on the grey clip at the base of the fill valve? you dont need to undo the nut under the toilet to replace the valve
Thanks so much!!!!
You're welcome!
