This nonsense about not being able to rely on our reason or thought processes is silly - because it's exactly what he's asking us to do in support of his argument. In other words, he can do it, but nobody else can.

None of cosmology or evolution relies on accident or randomness, and he clearly doesn't understand these topics.
He's not advocating reason - he says it's unreliable and can't be used to explain anything, except his point of view.
Hovind should be embarrassed by this, and the simple fact that the video stops before the response of the other side should tell you something (hint: they point out his errors).

(I) The Law of Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms, these Scriptures also have those who do not accept Jesus as the Christ (Jews). So Jesus and His followers could not have forged (what is the ricght word? falsified, corrupt?) this to make this Bibletexte come true, because then there should be a difference between the Old Covenant of those who accepted Him and the Old Covenant of those who did not accept Jesus as the Christ ( Jews). And this is not the case. This is the difference between the Jewish Bible (Old Covenant) and the Bible of the believers in Jesus (Old and New Covenant). The Old Covenant are the same Scriptures. I want to believe in Jesus, though my mind is not open to see this and to understand what this text said. So if Jesus and His followers falsified the Law of Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms in the Old Covenant to make this come true, then we should now have a different Old Covenant than the Jews who don't believe in Jesus. And this is not the case. As for the Old Covenant, we have the same Scriptures as the Jews, only we have the New Covenant also.
John 5: 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me (Jesus); 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory from men; 42 but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43 I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, when you receive glory (or honor or fame) from one another and you do not seek the glory (or honor or fame) that is from the one and only God? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

Every time I put a bunch of thought into finding the beginning of time, it just doesn’t make since to me and it’s hard for me to understand what happened, not only because I wasn’t there but because just thinking about how all this came to be is so overwhelming to a point that it tells me one thing. I shouldn’t worry about what I can’t control, worry about what I can. I also realized there will never be the "proof" of God that scientists are looking such as seeing Heaven through a scope. If you live like that then you will get nowhere. It’s ok to not understand everything, sure you can stride to learn everything, but I think that it’s important to recognize when something is out of your hands.
We don’t need to see heaven through microscope, we need evidence for your specific god.
For example, if there was one layer in which there were all animals (dinosaurs, trylobites, human, etc) then that would prove Noah’s flood, but there’s no layer in which there are all animals because trilobites lived in different time than dinosaurs, and dinosaurs lived in different time than humans etc and that proves Darwinism (these animals evolved/went extinct before different animals evolved)
Another thing which would prove young world would be that we wouldn’t see any galaxy which is further than 6,000 light years but we do, because the universe is over 13.8B years old - do you ask how do we know? There is a galaxy/irs which is 13.8B light years away.
And don’t give me the shit like “But 1 day on Earth is 1000 years in heaven”, because after calculating that you get only 2B years, which still isn’t enough.
Another thing which would prove specific god would be that prayers to Yahweh would work EVERYTIME.

I am a christian and I think I believe that space is 13 billion years old but I am just not sure how old the earth is. The great flood could make it look like that the earth is older than we think.

If all matter came into existence absent of matter itself and time would measure the age of proliferation and decay. You must then surmise a material must have existed in point where all things in the observable universe were spawned into creation. Yes, I can agree that God is an unbelievable answer for our existence just the same as I can argue that this existence itself isn't real nor my perceptions of how we are here. The conclusion of existence is more understood by that which never was and always is simultaneously. There is no science that will ever justify how we can be here in this moment right now. Even if we had infinite time and infinite wisdom and infinite knowledge. The tangible truth proves the intangible form. We ourselves are linear beings. God is above infinity, above rationality above the consequences of explanation to how He is/was/always will be. To put it simply He who is without form carries form upon the understanding of existing before/during and after it. He who is without creation is because He was/is and always will be. We live in tangibility. We live in finality. We are linear and exist because He exists before/during and after us. No conclusion to the story of God because the book was never opened yet all the pages were read. Look beyond linear reasoning. Look beyond the science that holds your existence. Because if you truly try to understand it all you shall go mad in fruitless pursuit. Ride the waves of this life and give God above all the wheel. There you shall find meaning in your ignorance and there you will be filled with the knowledge you will never know it all. God will fill that gap for you. Time to unquantify the quantifiable. Reset your answers and give in to the questions. There is nothing more terrifying than the truth beyond our finite minds. I shall love with the knowledge I have and dance in the ignorance I know I shall never comprehend. The term refers to the rapid expansion of the universe from the initial quantum singularity, so no competent scientist believes that universe and everything in it was "created" by an explosion.
Matter and energy are interchangeable and could very well be eternal. The universe itself most likely had an entirely natural catalyst that didn't involve any sort of intelligent deity conjuring anything into existence with magical incantations the way the Bible describes.

Even as a Christian I would wonder what created God. It wasn't until the last couple of weeks that I realized that if something created God, then that thing or person is the beginning of it all. So we would ultimately have to find the beginning, which comes to the same conclusion. That God created it all and we are a direct creation of God.

This is what's called the first cause (cosmological) argument. If everything has a cause, who or what caused God? If you claim that God had no cause (special pleading), you admit that not everything has a cause. If everything requires a cause, God has a cause. If you claim God is the first cause then what caused him to act (indicating a cause for his actions)? If you claim that something has to be the first cause and you choose to stop at God, you must present the evidence. The first cause argument falls apart because the premise of the argument is easily violated.

Massa We used to think that before time God was/is, but we also thought that the universe He created consisted of a flat earth that the sun and stars revolved around and Heaven's majesty existed beyond the sun and the stars. The whole religious "truth" gets harder to believe as Heaven becomes billions and billions of light years away.
I know GOD is real. I know He exists. There's no way such complex creations like the human body, Earth, galaxies, the sun ect. Just became to be out of no where. There is a master designer/inventer who is creating all of this, and that is GOD Himself! All of this stuff was thought out before it was created. Just as an artist draws a picture or a musician makes a song. Nothing that is complex and serves a function is made by chance. I never heard of a beautiful, complex song being made by "chance", the beauty and the complexity of it proves that someone thought up what they were gonna create before they made it. The same thing goes for Earth and many more creations. GOD is the ultimate creator-- the Most High. No one can create the way He does, they can only imitate. GOD is EVERYTHING. You may not see Him physically, but everything around you is proof of the master creator. Also, always wanting proof for everything is bad, because a lot of people who always want proof tend to be very pessimistic and have a very negative outlook on life. GOD is about balance. You cannot be all logic or all spiritual, because GOD is both of those things. GOD is science and GOD is spirituality.
Music1990Luver if all things were thought out before they were created and God created them to a perfect design why are there so many flaws? Have you seen conjoined twins and disabled people? Why have god's perfect designs evolved and changed over time to become better versions of what should have been perfect? Not everything in nature is beautiful. I wonder why God designed a cuckoo so that it attacks another bird's nest, kills that birds eggs by pushing them out of the nest and replacing them with its own egg. It's a horrible concept. The poor parents end up nearly killing themselves with the effort of raising the baby cuckoo and their own offspring are dead. Why design stuff like that? There's lots of hideous stuff in nature and just bad design such as a giraffe's vegal nerve but religious people want to believe it's all perfect and beautiful when it clearly isn't. It's random and evolving. Nothing is perfect.
I know everything isn't perfect or beautiful. You say there are a lot of hideous things in nature, but there are lots of beautiful things too. I would like to ask you: what kind of stuff gets your attention more, negative stuff or positive stuff? I think how you view God can be a reflection of how you view life. I understand you have questions and it's good to ask questions, but sometimes people get so wrapped up in questioning things that it puts them in a dark state of mind. You end up really hating life because you will never get an answer that satisfies you. You say it's all evolving, but why can't God be the one who's causing it to evolve? I don't force my beliefs on anyone and I'm not super religious either. I haven't been to church in years until late last year and I don't read the bible everyday, but I still believe in God. Focusing on stuff about cuckoo birds attacking other birds nests will only sadden you and make you look at life from a negative point of view.
Music1990Luver thanks for your concern but I'm a generally easy going, happy guy. I don't focus on the negatives and aspects of nature such as cuckoos, that would be weird. Those are just quick examples o why the religious narrative of "god made everything and you can tell because it's all perfectly designed and beautiful" is nonsense to me. People overlook all the evidence in nature that shows a lack of intelligent design because it causes them cognitive dissonance. Only recently have religious people (Christians mostly) started talking about intelligent design and suggesting that god is driving evolution. It's not long ago that they were denying evolution even exists. Now, in the face of overwhelming evidence they are having to adapt their ideas and fit god back in somehow. If an all powerful god wanted animals to change he could just change them from.form A to form Z without hundreds of years spent going through forms B to Y. If god wanted to create humans in his own image, as genesis states, he could have done it immediately but instead we evolved over hundreds of thousands of years from ape species... Odd? ... I know, I know, we can never fathom god's reasoning etc etc. but why go through the ape stage (unless that is god's image and we evolved beyond it)
Yes we have questions and fortunately there are people who seek answers and don't just accept the answer "god made it so" because if everyone had stuck with that explanation we would still be living in caves.
You can use evidence to try and disprove God, and you can use evidence to prove there is a God. It's something that people will always argue about. Can I ask you a question? Does the idea of there being a God anger you? I also will not pretend that I have always been faithful. I had points in my past where I doubted the existence of a God, and I had plenty of questions that I will never know the answer to but I have had a spiritual experience (no I am not crazy) that made me know that there is somethong more out there. I had an out of body experience (a scary one). Even before that experience I have always believed in God, though. I also don't believe humans come from apes.
Music1990Luver The idea of there being a god doesn't "anger" me but the way people behave as a result of their belief and the way they let it run their lives often angers me. The way people profit from other people's faith angers me and the way people who call themselves priests or pastors or preachers manipulate the blindly faithfull angers me. I find it intensely frustrating that despite all the evidence people will deny scientific facts about evolution and the history of this planet, some even denying the actual shape of the planet based on some skewed idea of faith. It angers me that there are children being brought up still today and being taught that the earth is 6000 years old, I class that as child abuse. It also angers me that religions have imposed rules on their followers that do not come from God but where made up by men, usually as a control method, but the rules have become the very life of some people. It would be ok if there is a God who was all loving etc and it would be great if it turned up and set all these people straight over their religions. Religions don't come from the power that created the universe (whether that's a conscious power or just energy), they are far to petty. The power that created the billions of galaxies with their many billions of stars wouldn't care if men wear a certain kind of hat, or beard or say certain words whilst performing acts dressed in special clothes. That all powerful entity wouldn't care if you eat some animals and not others.
We will never prove what happened at the start of time and I can accept there might be a powerful force that pervades the entire universe and creates every atom of every thing but if there is, does it sound feasible that such a power would be needy enough to have to feel loved by a few creatures on one of his/it's trillions of planets and be petty enough to threaten them with everlasting torture if he doesn't feel we loved him enough. No that sounds like the sort of thing a man would say, a man who wants to control and manipulate people, to have power over people back when people where uneducated and mostly couldn't read. Those are the ideas of a control freak like an abusive partner, love me or else. Nobody will ever convince me that the power that drives the universe (if there even is one) would have anything to do with any of the earth's religions.

Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence, but that's not to say that because that's so, it automatically gives any kind of justification to the idea of God being real. It's very unlikely that if something like a soul exists, that it exists within the material world. For it it exists in the material world, then the soul isn't infinite, as everything decays over time. So it must exist outside of the material world, but then we run into the problem that we can't measure anything outside of our material world, making it impossible to quantify something like a soul. Even if you have the entire Whitehouse staff, president included, have God appear to them, that's still not evidence. Because for something to be scientific evidence it has to pass certain requirements, and in my example those requirements weren't met. So it's very unlikely there will ever be any sort of proof other than personal anecdotes of people.
With that said, I do believe that we're more than just the material. Whether our "soul" is able to view this world using a brain as some sort of transceiver while our souls reside in another dimension all together, with different laws and physics, I don't know. But if you take away your senses, your thoughts, your memories, pretty much everything about you, what's left? There's still an awareness there. Unthinking, Unfeeling, awareness. I believe that's the part that's not part of the material world, and continues to exist after the material passes away.

This video is proof of the existance of our creator "A Potato" because theres this book called the Potible. This book was written by people who i know only wrote true things because the Great Potato has proclaimed it. In the Potible it tells us how the Potato created the universe by saying "let there be potatos". If something is scientific, belief is not required. Not believing in centrifugal force does not allow me to fall up. If it cannot be proven scientifically i.e. experimentation, testing, repeatability it's not science. Cold fusion as an example.

Consequently, because of the imaginations of the heart, mankind went in his or her own way to find the answer that lead to a “Boom” to all things being created, “The Boom” is Worldview. Behold the tangible things of the Triune God from within the body of man, His creation upon the Earth.
Humans tend to lean toward other humans for guidance in their creation on this planet (Worldview), like a cosmic explosion (Boom!). Aliens and creatures of the earth from the ape to fish come to mind in partaking in their creation upon the earth. Assuming the Boom was by chance creating their existence by chance opened the door to even more assumptions. These assumptions were written as a warning from the Triune God, as it is written, “Professing themselves to be wise they became fools and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things” (Romans 1:22-23 King James Version). Evidently, mankind is in need a Christian perspective for the answer to their existence on this planet. Immanuel Kant said, “God, if there is one, must be a noumena,” (Murphy 38) meaning “mankind can only know phenomena things that appear to them in time and space never noumena” (Murphy38). “Albert Einstein view that the universe is static, completely unchanging” (Murphy 39), these men way of thinking was clearly from an intellectual point and not from a Christian perspective.
Therefore, the worldview can give no tangible evidence to support the claim that God created mankind. But the Christian view can give tangible evidence that man was made in the likeness of the Triune God! Behold oh man from within thy body, the three section brain: cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem working together as One brain. Three major parts of the Respiratory System: airways, lungs, and muscles of respiration the body receive oxygen. Three main parts of the Nervous System: Brain, Spinal Cord, and Peripheral Nerves, consisting of three neurons: Afferent, Efferent, and Inter neurons working together as One to carrying electrical signals through the body. Three main parts of the Circulatory System: Arteries, Veins, and Capillaries working as One to carry blood throughout the body.
Furthermore, three main functions of the Digestive Track: to digest, to absorb, and to eliminate food as it passes through the body. Three main accessory organs: Liver, Pancreas, and Gall Bladder working together as One to accomplish this task. Lastly the bones in each arm: Humerus, Radius, and Ulna held together by three joints: shoulder, elbow, and wrist working together as One arm. Three bones in each finger held together by three joints. The leg has three bones: Femur, Tibia, and Fibula held together by three joints: Hip, Knee, and Ankle working together as One leg. Finally, the foot has three bones in each toe held together by three joints. All parts working together as One in one body from Head to Toe. This wonderful tangible evidence is God’s handiwork left for mankind’s observation to behold His mighty hand of creation by the Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and Holy Ghost! THREE working together as ONE GOD by saying these magnificent words. “…Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR LIKENESS…” (Genesis 1:26).
Hence, mankind “...fearfully and wonderfully created marvelous are His works” (Psalms 139:14). Christian worldview outweighs the worldview way of thinking on human creation on planet Earth. The things that can be clearly seen and touched by the hands of men, tangible things, are even found within the body of mankind! Indeed, “His way is not the way of man neither are His thoughts the ways of men thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8). Oh how great art thou Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ! “Who is like unto thee oh Lord, ‘…from everlasting to everlasting thou art God!”’ (Exodus 15:11; Psalms 90:2)

But this is not the God you worship!! You worship Jesus a man who supposedly lived 2000 years ago!! A man you never know or saw or met and you only know about him through hearsay. But the fact remains, the bible is filled with narratives and accounts, exploits arrogant, egregious and vain would be putting it mildly, of less than perfect people leading less than perfect lives, performing less than perfect acts. So is salvation instantaneous or is it gradual ? Is salvation a seed or is salvation the fruit ? Besides, what role does the nature of the soil, the nature of the sower or the gardner, the toil and the labor of the workers, either the inclemency and the fickleness, or the fairness and the fineness of the weather, the surrounding environment, other foreseen and unforeseen factors play either in the bounty or in the scarcity of the harvest, and if all of these factors are conducive and favourable, and there is a plentiful harvest, do we owe a debt of gratitude to presumably a god, or even just to plain old good fortune for having made it possible, and besides do we have to think only about ourselves and not care about the rest of the world and should we enjoy and relish in the bounty ourselves or is there a place for selflessness and for generosity and do we heartily, share in our bounty with the rest of the world starting with the most needy, thus heaping and hoarding eternal treasures for ourselves in heaven, or should there be no need for and no place for such kindness and for caring and for generosity, but only a place for selfishness and for greed, and we only need to heap and to hoard temporal riches and temporal treasures for ourselves here on earth.
Are all these questions asked, and rightly answered, all these issues addressed and justly, fairly and equitably resolved in the bible, besides all other problems or evils both personal and social, no matter how huge and how gargantuan , how ancient or modern, plaguing and riddling the world not just of today but from eternity in the past to eternity in the future. Can we look to that book both for direction and for drive first and foremost for transforming our very own lives in the hope of making of ourselves in the image and in the likeness of god and to the extent we can and possible also transforming this world in the hope of making of it a heaven ?
