OPEK at Club Cafe featuring Korel Tunador on Sax, Performing Sun Ra

This is a vintage video from Club Cafe (Pittsburgh, PA), circa 2000. It was recorded with a hand held camera before we wired the club with sophisticated video and audio capture systems. So this is one of the very early performances soon after we opened the club in late 1999. This performance is by the big band OPEK, led by Ben Opie. This video features a short segment of a nearly hour long Sun Ra composition. It highlights Korel Tunador on sax in a breathtaking performance. Ben Opie stops the performance to explain a Sun Ra story, and then relates that story to Korel's performance. Enjoy.
