When I did peel-and-stick tile on my kitchen backsplash I had 6 outlets I had to cut around plus a decorative window molding. Phew! It was still an easier job than actually tiling though and it has held up well for about 7 years now.
@@jessicalumbard6583 I used the Smart Tiles brand. I got them from Home Depot but I know other places sell them too. When I looked up my order to check the brand I noticed I got them in Jan 2016 so I haven't had them quite as long as I thought. But it's been almost 5 years and they still look great and haven't had issues coming off the wall. If they did I would probably just use caulking to reseal the edge.
I have been staring at a box of press-and-seal tiles I bought for my kitchen for 2 weeks now, afraid I would not be able to do it. You made it look so easy, and all the tips were so needed. Can't wait to try it now! Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this video. I haven't put up peel and stick tile myself. When I used to live in the town house with my daughter, she did it and did a beautiful job. This tutorial has helped me out a lot. I want to put a backsplash behind my kitchen sink.
Thanks for posting this! You inspired me to purchase a peel & stick backsplash for our rental kitchen. You suggestions were very practical and simple. We absolutely love the look! Thank you! BTW I love how inexpensive and practical you are & that you are Canadian and stick to Canadian stores & prices! From a fellow-Canadian who gets tired of all the American references thank you!!
When you said it lasts in “-45 to +30 weather”, I was like that sounds perfect, because that’s the weather we have here! Then you said “Here in Alberta, Canada”! Hi from another Albertan! 👋🏼😁
The backsplash turned out beautiful and I’m going to try that in my kitchen. I went back and watched your studio tour and I have two questions. 1. Where did you purchase your white curtains and 2. Where did you purchase the light fixture over your kitchen island? I have an older house built in the 80’s and omg everything has to be updated lol. Your studio is absolutely beautiful! You guys did an amazing job!
Dollar tree the peel and stick faux tile.. it is gray and white. They also have different designs. I bought some but have not tried them yet. Can’t wait tho! Yours looks amazing and you made this tutorial look so easy! Love your studio house! It’s beautiful 😍 TFS!
Can not wait to see the video on the countertops. Can you also do a video about how to repaint kitchen cabinets? How to/step by step and what products you used.
great informative vid, the end result looks great. I just bought a bunch of smart tiles with a grey grout i thought they would be good quality but the overlaping grout ends are not very accurate and all different lengths, some are much too wide. ill try and cut the longer one out because wider grout lines in some places won't look right, hopefully that won't be too hard and look good.
I really love the way this peel& stick tile looks in your studio It turned out really nice. I would like to try that sometime. Cant wait to see the roman shades & countertop makeover, too. Great job, Christina. 💗🤗
I remember when this was a new item at Home Depot and they were quite pricy. Easier than real tiles of course. Your Dollarrama tiles look great! Btw, love your blouse💖
Home Depot is almost always more expensive. Try looking in a regional chain. We have a Home Depot & Menards. Most of the time Home Depot doesn't have what we need or want or it's significantly more expensive than Menards. Menards is a regional chain & have a website.
Nice video of peel and stick. I'm doing my kitchen as well using Aspect brand, lol while preparing one piece it accidentally folded over onto itself rendering that piece unless, once it touched 😬, I'll be heading out for more packs to finish the job 😅😊😉
I’m soooo glad I found you! I love your diys. Now I’m binge watching you. Love that I found a fellow Canadian as easier to find stuff! I wish we had Hobby Lobby and Target here ❣️
Hi im a new sub...only 2 weeks. I was looking for videos on diy money saving jars for my little boy so i watched your video then ended up binge watching tons more. I love your channel, so many great ideas & im stoked i found u. I am for sure gonna try the stick on tiles in my kitchen. Much love from the UK 🇬🇧😍
Dollar tree sells them in US Im using them in my camper. Had to buy a case (50 sheets) Still half the price of the 15 sheets Id have bought from a big box store
Originally I was just gonna do the backslash behind the range but decided to do the entire kitchen with that gray/silver design and do the range area with the white brick design.
I bought three packs of peel and stick tile because they were on sale from $20 to $2. I wasn’t confident in using them but after your video I can’t wait!
Ha… so I finally bought these lol. Only took me two years… and they’re falling off soon as I put them up! Watching this video again to see if maybe there were some tips.
i think it might be bc if you work up to the window then you can use painter's caulking to cover any misgivings in the cutting, whereas u typically don't see caulking where the wall meets the other wall 😊
You can also spray paint tiles any color. I saw a video where she painted them gold and it looked great. In an apartment would you need to lay down paper or something under floor tile to make it easier to remove when you move?
wish you had a tutorial for the actual difficult stick on backsplash that is a lot thicker and of better quality. this makes it seem like an art project
This is so awesome! Two questions real quick... 1. How long does it last? 2. Can it be removed without hurting the paint behind it? I’m thinking of putting it in my rental house
I've had them in my trailer for 3 years, some people below have commented that their's have been going strong for 7 years! I think they'll come off easily but you may have to touch up the paint after :)
Love the way it made my travel trailer look, doing my kitchen as we speak…… question 🙋🏻♀️ how do I finish off a straight edge at the end of my counter to give it a professional look?
This is the question I have. Did you try the tile? I wondered if you can just cut it ,or do you need some kind of trim when it doesn't go corner to corner?
This turned out beautifully Christina and would be an awesome fix for someone renting a house or apartment where you really can’t do anything more permanent. I’m jealous that it looks like you have more counter/island/storage space in your studio than I have in my eat-in kitchen (our home is older so storage is skimpy). Thanks for sharing and I hope your weekend is wonderful. 🤗 #kindnessmatters
Sometimes I noticed a little at the bottom isn’t completely covered from uneven walls, is there a trim one can buy? You did a fabulous job and it looks beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Wow!! That looks amazing Christina!!! ❤❤❤. I have thought about doing them in my kitchen but we are renting and im concerned of what it will do to the walls if we ever decide to move? I know it would look LOVELY though! 😊. Thanks for sharing! Your studio is so sweet!! ❤
I'm putting in the same type of backsplash in my kitchen now - peel and stick white subway tile with gray grout. My countertops are a white/gray marble look. What caulk color would you recommend? I've seen differing opinions on whether to match the tile or the grout color and not sure which way to go!
I’ve never tried peel and stick tile but was considering it for my laundry room to try to save $ while still having a “wow” factor - even if it’s only for me 😂. Glad I stumbled across your video!
Great job looks awesome. Are you going to put it near your stove....or no because of the steam from cooking? I would like an inexpensive solution for my bathroom. Due to steam you do not recommend for shower area? Anything else you can recommend? Thanks, Gigi p.s. love your channel and content!! 😊🙂👍🏡💗❤
Are these types of tiles fitting to put over existing tile being used in a kitchen backsplash? And are they renter-friendly or do they damage the wall at all upon removal?
Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for an inexpensive way to finish my kitchen with backsplash. I'm going to look for this at Dollarama. Love that this is Canadian :)
I want to use these in a camper that I’m re-going but I’m concerned about the summer heat and humidity when the camper is closed during the week when it’s not being used. Any ideas or suggestions?
I used this in my little guy max my teardrop camper. I love the peel and stick tile. I used the tic tac tiles with double glue for the camper. plus I think I told you I used the marble contact paper on the table we made for our camper. The table was a replacement for the too large table. We made the table out of pine, put it on the Lagun table, covered with the marble contact paper you used. Turned out perfect. Thanks for your great tip.
Hi DIY Mommy :) love all these ideas! Can you actually use backsplash a wooden wall? And peel & stick on a wooden countertop? Will I have any difficulty taking them out after 2 to 3 years?
Hi, here's a link to my FAQ about peel and stick tile that you might find helpful. I've never applied them over wood, but I suspect that you could. As far as removing them goes, it will leave sticky residue, so you'd have to clean it off with a product like Goo Gone thediymommy.com/how-to-install-peel-and-stick-tile-backsplash/
Hello i have a question about the installation of the bricks. if i want to continue with the side wall should i start from the corner and then to fill the gap with silicon or I should overlap the corner the with the brick paper. Should i connect both walls by overlapping the sticking paper or i have to do they separately, and the corner gap who shows i can fill it with this silicon you used?
if you feel up to it, you can use sandpaper to sand away any glue residue like u might for old wallpaper for eg, aaand (if u have the tools) some pre-made mud and a putty knife go a long way for peeled paint spots! not everyone likes mudding tho, i've had to rly work up to the skills i have now, it used to take me forever 😅 put definitely sandpaper 😄
Hi! I want to try this so bad because our kitchen in our apartment is so outdated and tan🤢 But our walls are slightly textured and a little bumpy. Will it not work? Thank you!

I went to look at the FAQ and the one I needed had not been answered. Mine in my 5th wheel, are not sticking on the ends. How can I "tack them down". Is there a certain product you can recommend? I cannot get this beautiful sea glass color anymore.
A+ I've been thinking about doing this, you make it look easy. Thank you DIY mommy. P/S Be careful with slippers on the step ladder, lol you scared me for a second.
