Very good video. No silly music or senseless babbling, just straight to the demonstration and this is exactly what I needed to watch for my upcoming sweedish meatballs. Thank you!
+1 to this. Sometimes I don't want to know the chef's entire rice-eating career history before a drawn out explanation of how to add water and rice to the bowl and the sense of nostalgia it invokes. For something this basic, just give me the basics. Thanks.
I've watched so many Foodi videos over the last week (my Ninja arrives today) and this one is the best because it's perfectly concise. Thank you for that. I guess most everyone else is trying to be a personality while they demonstrate and I just want the information. You're going to be my go-to.
This literally makes the perfect rice! I just got the ninja foodi from a black friday sale and was eager to see what appliances I could replace with it! Thank you so much for the recipe :) The (1:1.25) ratio is perfect!
I love this damn machine. It's the closest futuristic thing we have to flying cars. There's nothing I put in this that sucked, save for a pot pie being better in a regular oven. THANK YOU for not drawing this video out into a 10-minute snooze fest. 20 seconds in, you already gave the water ratio.
Just what I was looking for. Just bought the thing and I'm a visual learner so I need videos. This was straight to the point exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Cooked in 8 Qt. Ninja Foodi I cut back on water as it makes the rice way to gummy. 4c Rice (wash rice until clear with warm water. drain off water) 3c water (3/4 cup water to 1 cup rice over 3 cups) 1) - PRESSURE COOK BUTTON. 2) - TEMP - HI 3) - 3 mins (wait 10 mins. open blow off to full) 4) - Take top off and mix rice all the way to the bottom and fold it. I let my rice sit with the lid open for 5 mins. This drys the rice more.. I have made 6 cups of rice and the time of 3 mins is good with 3/4 water to 1 cup rice. NOTE: Water must always cover the rice. If you cut back to much water the rice will get hard. For the normal 1-1/4c water to 1c rice works best in a 6.5 qt Ninja Foodi.
Thankyou for your detailed message. I wanted to add 3 cups to a meat curry which I made in the foodie, your message has really helped me figure how much liquid to allow
The directions were so bad in the manual that I had to UA-cam this. Thanks for sharing! Now I can get back to the horrible directions while eating my jasmine rice.
I usually skip the first video that pops up when I search for something cuz it’s usually a hot mess but I’m glad I clicked on this one. Gotta cook more than a cup so I hope I remember to come back and let you know how it went. 🙏🏾❤️
Roughly 1:1 rice to water (perhaps even slightly less water), 3 min cook time. Or test your own unit's performance ad write down your best results ratio. (Note: i tend to add a little butter and/or oil and this helps reduce stickiness)
Thanks for the video tried it on my own with just reading the instructions somehow burned the rice 😂but with ur video it came out perfect went for the 3 minutes like u said thanks for not making the video super long and getting straight to the point came in handy while cooking 🧑🍳 😊
You can also make rice in 7 minutes do a quick release and no need to wait 10 minutes + 2 minutes of pressure cooking which is a total of 12 minutes.......
That's the one I have. Beed to learn how to make the rice. 😊 Its usually 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water. Frozen food and fries is the best in that Airfryer. Love my Ninja Foodi. ❤️
It's wonderful this Ninja, I have the most recent model the one that has the thermoter and release pressure automatically and other stuff. It's wonderful to make rubye steak, chicken legs, etc. No more crease, dirt, mess in your kitchen everywhere when you make steak. I had to cover my entire bicycle due to the crease, not anymore.
msm 1145 She said do 1 Cup of rice and use 1 Cup plus 1/4 of water so by doing simple math it measure up to 3 Cups and 3 quarters of Water for 3 Cups of rice
The best device to cook rice is the microwave if done properly. It's flufly and loose. You put thick round of Mexican zucchini on top of the rice, on the last 3 minutes. So your zuchini is crispy and steamed, no mushy. but if you cut thing circles it get mushy. I will test the Ninja for rice. Ninja is wonderful for meat. I did not test other features yet.
Would I use the same amount of time pressure cooking my rice mixed with boneless cooked chicken to make a spanish rice and chicken dish? If possible, do you have a method of cooking arroz con pollo?
I have the 8 qt model. Is there any reason I can't make more than one cup of dry rice at a time? I know it swells, and don't want to get into mischief... ;-)

Would brown rice cook the same, or if differently, how? I like your videos so much...strightforward, full of information, and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thanks, Barbara! For brown rice - 1 cup rice, 1 1/4 cups water, cook on high pressure for 15 minutes - natural release 10 minutes, then quick release. The above are directions from Ninja. I would suggest adding a little bit more water. Enjoy 😀
I have the 8qt Deluxe, I have Loved it, but lately when I try to use my Sear Sauté mode, it will say “ ADD VENT “???? What does this mean? PLEASE HELP 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Susan Enright I had a similar problem but the air fry lid did still work properly. All the other functions that involve the pressure lid would flash the "LID" error message, even though the pressure lid was properly on the unit, with its silicone ring intact, and the vent knob set to pressure. It just didn't detect the lid. Ninja wanted me to send it back and wait 6 weeks for a new unit. I didn't want to wait and I thought that was stupid, so I fixed it myself. I put the pot and fry basket in the unit, put the air fry lid down and set it to air fry for a few seconds, then without turning it off, I hit the saute button. It immediately said lid, because that's the wrong lid to saute. I then hit pressure, and it still said lid. Then I lifted the fry lid, put on the pressure lid, and it worked. It could sense the pressure lid and functioned normally. I think it has something to do with weight in the pot. Putting in the fry basket, and starting from fry directly to a pressure function, fixed the sensor somehow. Hope this helps!

You don’t need to buy this if you’re only going to cook rice with it. Buy a rice cooker or make rice on the stove top. Please see my rice cooker reviews if you need help figuring out which one to buy 😀
It takes a while for the cooker to actually get to the "HI" temperature and the timer only begins when it does. It's totally normal to see the revolving symbol while it warms up

I cook basmati for 8-10 mins leave standing for a further few minutes and it is to be honest better than the ninja for time and quality. The pot looks amazing for other things..

this might be a silly question but if you were to cook 2 or 3 cups of rice more would the time be more or it will still be 3 minutes?
I have the Same question
💯 def add the extra water unless you want "al dente" rice
If I wanted to cook 3 or 4 cups rice how much water and cook time would I need ? And natural release or real ease valve
1 & 1/2 to 2 cups of water per cup of rice
Yeah, that is my question as well, how much is the cook time, seems nobody has figured this out yet.
I’m wondering the same thing. So far all the UA-cam videos only shows 1:1 and not telling us how long to cook with more cups of rice.
Me too! I have a lot more rice than just a cup.....
msm 1145 She said do 1 Cup of rice and use 1 Cup plus 1/4 of water so by doing simple math it measure up to 3 Cups and 3 quarters of Water for 3 Cups of rice

Would you recommend rinsing the rice well before cooking to get rid of most of the starch, which can make it sticky after cooking?
Depends on the rice. I love the Jasmin rice. I can't eat another rice.
Yeah. Always rinse your rice.
I have been trying to find a video of how to bake rice (not pressure cook) in my Ninja Foodi Smart XL grill... are you able to do that?
can you tell me please, when you cook rice used the same drawer with water to cook rice . its safe to ues water.
Is there a safety risk of opening the unit while pressurized??
How long does it take for the thingy to drop down? 👀 time is of the eesence

Hi. I would like to ask you something. What should I do, if ninja foodi keeps on asking me to add water? While my basmati rice is already cooked.
Appreciate it shawty 😎
They say it's unhealthy to cook rice in a pressure cooker. why not just use the steam function?
Who says that and why?
I want to cook enough rice for 5 people, what timing's and amounts should I use please.

How do you do it when it’s brown rice instead?
If i want the rice grains to be big and separate instead of being in chunks, do i pressure for 2 mins or 3 mins?
I think the trick to getting the grains to separate is rinsing thoroughly!!!
how does the amount of rice scale? like if I'm making rice for four people
Foodi says:
1c-rice
1c-water
2 mins Pressure Cook
10 mins neutral (open vent let set for 10 full mins)

When I put my pressure cooker for 3 mins, it doesn’t show the time...? I have the same ninja foodi as you

What if I cook 5 cups of rice how long should I cook for instead of the two minutes

The 8 qt is 1700 watt and Im using this one.
It all depends what rice you're using, I personally wouldn't cook it the way you have shown but nevertheless still a good video.
Ok. Then how would you do it? :/
Why didn’t you make a new goddamn video with the appropriate cook time?
U did not show the Ninja Pressure cooker entirely!
There is nothing missing from this video. It's complete and clear.
18 min ? Darn, I can do that on stove. Thought foodi would be quicker?
Why would you pressure cook the rice rather than just cook it normally? if it takes 18 minutes from start to finish to cook the rice under pressure it would be quicker just to cook it without pressure. whats the advantage of doing it this way?
philip spencer because you/i can
Because it is quicker and you can have it with delay time. Pressure cooker supposed to retain nutrients more then normal cooking
Probably tastes better and you don't need to keep stirring and watching it?
Idk I know Pressure Cooking is supposed to be much better than regular boiling
This video is inaccurate. It’s saying to “add water” after it preheats and selecting two minutes.
I would love this but I purchased the Ninja air fryer. Could you review that one? Thanks beautiful. Yeah I said that. 😀
Using broth instead of water is much better.
My dumbass was trying to steam my rice and it turned out horrible
