You’re the first that explains that I have to wait until the pressure builds up to actually start the two minute timer. Thank you for that I thought I was doing something wrong 😂
Your comment about the seal not being on right reassured me so much. My foodi had a little steam coming out the front and I was worried. Ill be sure to make sure the seal is in nice and tight! Im brand new to the foodi.
Hahah! I actually hate regular pot holders/mitts but love the little silicone ones that came with the Foodi. I think I lost one but ordered 4 more recently. So they should be matching from now on. lol.
How many cups of rice can be added to the pot on the cooker ? Can 8 cups of rice for 4 meals fit in that cooker ? Because ninja makes a 14 in 1 rice cooker, but its for $ 279.00. So which one is better?
hey, thanks for the video! i got a new ninja foodi and its my first time using it! i saw some videos that call for a boiling hot water to put in pressure cooker and then seal it, is that necessary? they claim that putting cold water (avg. temp tap water) may later burn the bottom of the rice in the pressure cooker. what do u think? thanks!
I never preheat the water. When I make a recipe it is made using room temp or cold water. The cook time takes that into consideration. If you use boiling water, it will come to pressure sooner which will in turn reduce the amount of time it cooks which can alter the final result of the recipe. If a recipe is suppose to be made with hot water, it should say so. If not, then use cold or room temp water.
Hi Teresa! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Unfortunately I haven’t made brown basmati rice in the Ninja Foodi yet so I can’t recommend the proper cooking time.
Hello dear, I'm wondering if you even tried to take that 10 minutes natural release after 2 minutes, instead of three! Do you know how the rice looks on that time frame? thanks in advance
Hello! I have tried 2 minutes instead of 3. The rice still comes out well but some pieces of rice are still a bit crunchy compared to the 3 minute cook time.
So we got our ninja foodi yesterday. We followed your instructions to the letter. When it finished the 'pre-heat' cycle it stopped and kept asking for more water even though we put in what you said. Any ideas?
Usually that will happen when too much of the water was released as steam during the pressure cooking process. Was there steam or condensation around the lid or the vent during the cooking process? Did you try the water test before trying to make rice? I would recommend trying the water test before using to make sure that it functions properly. Here's a link to how to do the water test: ua-cam.com/video/KM12Wdj9XFY/v-deo.html
I have not tried making quite that much rice all at one time, but I have made 4 cups of rice and used the exact same instructions and time. My rice turned out great.
No babysitting needed. You just cook it under pressure and it takes care of itself. If you have a rice cooker you can use that instead. But this is a great way to make rice if you don’t have a rice cooker.
Silicone will take forever to biodegrade, and has not been in use long enough to really understand how it will impact health and the environment over time. Stick with wood...give a local craftsperson the money. Thanks for the video.
Ninja foodis suck so bad. There is nothing intuitive about them, no clear instructions, no common sense way of operating. I tried this, followed exactly what she said here in this video and mine was just flashing PRE for about a half hour, I had no idea what the hell was going on, no steam, nothing happening so finally I shut if off and decided to cook the rice on the stove where it doesn't involve any equipment failures, troubleshooting, searching the internet, watching tons of videos just to try and find out how to work the dumb thing. All it took to cook the rice on the stove was to just turn the burner on so screw these stupid ninja foodis. Anyone want to buy one? Only used a couple of times
It sounds like the Ninja Foodi isn’t for you. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you can make so many great things and save a ton of time. Good luck on your cooking adventures.

You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you! I've had my Foodi for a couple of years now but I never made rice in it until today after watching your video! It came out great! 😁👍👍
Awesome! I’m so glad that it turned out great. So easy too! :)

I appreciate that your oven mitts were not matching.

I have the same ninja where I cook Shushi rice for onigiri. Comes out great.
Sounds great!

How do you do sushi rice? I would love to hear your method?
How much water in icup of rice please
Bruh this is like the longest one stop the chitchat and get on with it
Great video
Can i just use the steam option? cause i don't want the rice to be mush.

Hello! Great video! When cooking brown basmati rice is the cooking time the same? Thanks!

Hi for some reason Brown rice takes longer time to cook in the pressure cooker.
Uncle Rodger would not approve you not rinsing your rice
the glass u have in the background were your kitchen window how did u install that it's beautiful
Oh thank you! It’s actually mirrored glass tiles from Floor & Decor. I took them off the mesh backing and hand placed each one. :).
Always rinse your rice 3 times

So how much water to one cup of rice. 1.25 cup?
Yes. 1.25 cups of water. For more details and full recipe: thetastytravelers.com/ninja-foodi-rice/

That's a lot of stuff for "simple" white rice.
Simple is water and rice......lol
So, if I eat 2 cups of rice every day, and put them in food prep containers, I can add 8 cups of rice in that pot, and still use 3 to 4 minutes?
I have not tried making quite that much rice all at one time, but I have made 4 cups of rice and used the exact same instructions and time. My rice turned out great.
@@TheTastyTravelers 👍👍
So you don't have to add water in the back
I’m the back of what? You add the water to the cooking pot.
@@TheTastyTravelers multitasking and typos. Lol. Thank you for responding. I rewatched it
@@SherrellWrites ok. Good. Glad you figured it out. :)
The video is little far to see 😊 you
So, basically you have to babysit while cooking unlike a dedicated rice cooker you just have to press start and it will just shut off when done.

Hi
Made it. Perfect
I'm so glad it worked for you! Enjoy!
