Here he plays with Etron Fou Leloublan, then Massacre, on Gravity he cooperated with Samla Mammas Manna in side A and the Muffins on side B. In first songs they sound similar, because Etron fou leloublan and samla mammas manna are crazy avantprog bands with sense of humour, but then the two records start to sound different. Massacre are a tough math/avant combo with a funky bassist (mighty Bill), while the Muffins are plain prog rock. But yes, by the two side A Speechless sounds like gravity part 2
@@HoxVox hey thanks for the insight man. Yes, i knew he recorded gravity with two different bands for each side one being Samlas mammas(i love their 1980/81 record, cant remember the name, with poly synths and stuff) and always appreciated their sense of humor! what amazes me is Frith's compositions and arragements. Being this recordings mostly from late 70s he would use some típical avantprog sounds of the 70s and ad completly innovative heavy stuff. At one point in this record they start to sound like the stuff Primus would be doing 10 years later! Waay ahead of his time. Also the first track from gravity thats some heavy shit right there!
@@joaquinodriozola4963 I think you love also Thinking Plague and 5uu's, they learned a lot from Fred Frith, especially what he did with art bears, but maybe Iì'm talking for nothing, you probably already know both (I'm friend of David Kerman, he's a very clever and brilliant guy, and one of the best drummers of the universe).
Duck Duck Go says you said this: "Maniac masterpiece Classical music close to modern music It doesn't look like a 1981 work" Is that what you said? I think I bought this album in 1983, and I thought it was very "1970s" so what ever... IMHO
Fred Frith has to be one of the most underrated guitar players in history
Just found a first pressing of this masterpiece in Mexico on vacation. Such a blessing
Such an incredible masterpiece full of musicianship and creativity. Just as good as it's slightly more well known brother album Gravity in my opinion.
*its
It's fairly close, but Gravity is a tier higher for me.
Frith my favorite! Album woow I very love album : gravity and Henry cow opus...
Long live freddo
They are a pair. (This and Gravity) With henry cows red sock making the 3rd of 3 for me.

No, I think "Gravity" was phase one of "Speechless"...
Speechless was before Gravity, gorgeous times, still gorgeous ;-!

Fred and Chris in cracow84😂
Wait this is slowed down!
All right who fucked up the continuity of this recording????
You're absolutely right. Speechless doesn't start until the 22nd minute. The rest is from Gravity
That cover tho
