Since Eren is able to control what past Attack Titan shifters could do like he did with his dad making him kill Freida it could be Eren's will. @@gyanprakash3671 theres actually 2 creatures near the root, the world serpent whose name I always forget and the dragon Nydhoggur, the dragon is sort of evil and gnaws at the root in an attempt to kill the tree, but I think its likely the serpent here because when ragnarok starts, the serpent is supposed to "come out of the ocean" (can imply ymir leaving the paths)

I saw this in another video, so basically; I think that the backbone that adhered to Ymir is the backbone of Mimir, the giant who guarded the waters of wisdom. This is a well that was located in the roots of "the tree of life", from which Ymir supposedly would have fallen. The legend says that the history of these legendary waters reached the ears of Odin, who visited Mimir. The giant refused to hand over its waters, so Odin offered a pact, and gave his eye to drink from these waters. It should be noted that Ymir no longer had an eye, which the tree would take as an offering and accept the fact that Mimir's spine joined with her and offered her that absolute power.

@@dai-belizariusz3087 maybe but I'm more inclined to think the "deal with the devil" was her doing the king's bidding. The Marley people might not realize that Ymir was a slave so they believed she willing worked for the king and as such "sold her soul" to the devil.
I can't help but feel that this plot is somekind of Naruto type of shit, Ymir getting powers from a tree, she would then flourish her land then her abilities get transmitted to her daughters much like Kaguya, and suddenly Eren pulls an Obito 2000 years later, he influences Grisha to kill the royal family much like Obito who influenced Yagura to start the bloodline purge, and then pulls another Obito where his plan would be destroying the world with some kind of overpowered shit.
I have a feeling that Ymir is the actual mastermind and is going to come back, but how? Oh! Historia's having a kid?! Well that's good news! Hurray! REANCARNATION!!!!

They state in the anime that the reason Titan shifters die after 13 years is because none of them could surpass Ymir, and she only lived 13 years ofter she aquired the power.

But if that were true, then how did Grisha live for 15 years. In 850 Shadis tells Eren he met Grisha 20 years ago. So in 845, when Eren got the attack titan’s powers, Grisha would’ve been alive for 15 years after he got the power.

A theory: Ymir may have seen into the future when that spear struck her. Eren can see into the past of and communicate with bearers of the attack titan. Ymir may be fair game for cross-time-communication as the originator of all titans, Attack included.
In their dying moments, Ymir and Eren spent a long time in the path-dimension. Ymir dies from her injuries because Eren sets her free in the path-dimension. In return, Eren continues living in the future. A life for a life.
Additionally, Eren being driven by freedom since he was born may be because all of Ymir's eternity of slavery within the paths dimension created him as an outlet for her desire to rebel and be free. It may also explain some of his anger issues when he was younger, being a manifestation of her frustration that she was never allowed to act upon.

I was thinking the same thing dude! When Isayama drew the tree, he made it look remarkably different and stand out from the other trees. This tree was bigger and more vibrant than the others, it also had that opening with the pit of water inside. Why would Isayama do that? Because AOT has heavy influence from Norse Myths and the tree Ymir ran into was a reference to Yggdrasil , The World Tree. Since The World tree was magical, it's not crazy to think Ymir's tree in this chapter is also magical.
There's also a bunch of people who've theorized that the Titans came from trees. Looks like that theory was pretty accurate after all.

Attack on Titan became one of the greatest anime/manga solely because of the plot. It all started with a shallow atmosphere with humans trapped inside the walls with titans as the antagonists. Isayama is such a genius writer, he turned a good anime into such a masterpiece.

This whole Eren seeing and manipulating other attack titan shifters memories reminds me of this concept called the Akashic Records
To me, it sounds like Ymir's 3 daughters also had 3 children each. So Ymir had a total of 9 grandchildren. And I'm thinking that maybe it stopped at 9 titans because they began to fight one another for power (the Titan War) and the 9 titans started being passed on to random Eldians during the war, as opposed to being passed on to Ymir's descendants. Just a thought.

I read some speculations and it said that back at the time, there is a famous saying that “if you want to be a wolf, then eat a wolf” so if you want to be strong like anything that you want, you need to eat that particular thing. So the King Frits thought that he could apply this famous into Ymir too. So he wanted his daughters to be strong like Ymir, so they need to eat Ymir.
In ancient times it was quite a popular shtick, folks would eat the organs of bears or wolves to «gain their power”, so the king took a wild guess with basically the only technique he knew. And it’s stated somewhere in the manga that they also had no clue about location of the power in the spine, so they just made the poor children eat every part and hoped for the best.
*My theory*
In AoT chapter 122, it is shown that that parasite creature is responsible for the first Founding Titan. This organism is very similar to Hallucigenia. Hallucigenia are the connecting links between Platyhelminthes and Arthropoda, they extincted 505 million years ago but in the world of AoT, they do exist and they are nearly 45cm in length but in reality they were maximum 30mm of length which means in AoT, they are evolved very well with time period. In the world of AoT, it was the last Hallucigenia in the world which came in contact with Ymir Fritz, this is because it wanted to multiply and stay alive because according to Theory of Natural Selection of Charles Darwin, every organism in this world wants to live and multiply. Hallucigenia is connecting link between Platyhelminthes and Arthropoda that's why it has characteristics of both phyla. Most of Platyhelminthes are endoparasites. As shown in AoT, Hallucigenia is always inside the body of possesser of Founding Titan (currently Eren Jaeger). This proves that the creature is Hallucigenia. Hallucigenia is Platyhelminthes so, it has abilities to regenerate just like planaria, when it is cutted off, it regenerates and forms a new body. Same with titans, titans can regenerate. The most delicate part of the Hallucigenia is nape of the neck because its spinal cord is there through a delicate neck joining its body to brain. Same with titans, the only weak point of titans is their nape of neck. When scouts cut off nape of titans, they die. Platyhelminthes and Arthropoda are unisexual, same with titans. Titans are genderless (unisexual). The coordinate world which is connected to all subjects of Ymir (Eldians) through the path, this is the most complicated term to explain. As, Hallucigenia is evolved in AoT, we can say that its acquired characteristics are also changed. Hallucigenia, the name itself says the animal which can create hallucinations. So, we can say that the coordinate world created by power of founding titan is nothing but hallucination created by Hallucigenia to connect all Subjects of Ymir. In quantum physics, there's a theory called Entanglement, which says that all things in the world are connected. As matter is in the form of both particle and wave, all things in this world are in the form of particle and wave at the same time. This wave nature of matter connects all the things in the world we just cannot watch it because our eyes see the particle nature of the matter. But, maybe in the evolution of Hallucigenia in the world of AoT, Hallucigenia probably acquired the ability to see the things in its wave nature! And due to this, Hallucigenia creates hallucinations of coordinate world and paths to connect all eldians to show them the wave nature of the world in particle form. The Ymir Fritz in the coordinate world is just hallucination created by Hallucigenia to influence Eren Jaeger to start the Rumbling. Here, I solved all the mysteries of Attack on Titan with scientific reasons and research.

Nah, in norse mythology the apple is a symbol of fertility. I think the devil is the first Eldian king and the apple is Ymir's first born.

If I told the me six years ago, that Attack on Titan would become thought provoking with extreme twists and turns and Eren was going to become one of the best protagonists that would make Light and Lelouch jealous. They would probably ask me if I was okay in the head.

So Ymir must've known that Eren was going to become the Attack titan seeing as it's power is to look at future holders, I think she killed herself to try and speed up that process, also it's cool to find out why the nape is the weak spot of titans, seeing as she died like that.
I thought the neck was the weak spot because it severes the central nervous system of the human inside the titan, since the CNS is the only thing that remains intact and everything else on the human body gets consumed by the titan body.

I think when they mentioned about the life span of a titan shifter before, they said that for Ymir the first titan lived for 13 years. Maybe those 13 years were the time that Ymir served for the king as a titan and the mother of the children before death and the nape became the weakness there?

My Theory is that after Ymir got her power of the Titans, she only held that power for 13 years until that Marley soldier tried to assassinate the king and she jumped into the way, killing her. So since she died after 13 years of having the power, that’s what made the curse of Ymir so every titan shifter dies after 13 years. I think if she never died that day then the future titan shifters could’ve lived longer until the extent she had the power for, so let’s say she never died so time went on and she had the power of the Titans for like 20 years and then she dies of natural causes, so that means she only had the power for 20 years and she set the curse that nobody can have that power longer than 20 years. Well that’s my theory at least

The devil in this story isn't wrong completely. Her "husband" was a real piece of work- the horned helm is a giveaway.
For that matter, so is Zeke. He's all, "I have royal blood! I command you!" to the matriarch of the royal family. Rather than showing her respect, her own descendants treat her like a slave, and she's so conditioned to slavery that she never questions why they treat their mother so cruelly.

This is leading up to the kind of bad ass ending that all fans wanted.
This sound a lot like the back story of Naruto, a woman/girl, running away from her attackers, run into a giant tree. Where she receive a massive power boost, and became a godlike figure of the ancient world. She later world have children and pass her to them, as time go on her power was split into many different part. Her descendant can also take the power from the previous users, by taking a part of the said user and put into them.
Woman/girl: Kaguya and Ymir
Power source: charka fruit and spinal cord
Children: the 2 brothers and 3 daughters
Most powerful power transfer: reincarnation and royal family
Powers split: Senju, Uchiha, Hyuga clan and Titans shifters
9 power: 9 tails beasts and 9 titans shifters
Powers Transfer: eyes transfer, or incorporate DNA of the other persons and injecting the Titans fluid, or eating the Titans flesh
It also coming down to how the original power users have something to do with the King of some ancient kingdom, that you can used all the power if you gather all power from the 9 power that got originally split.
