Sure, but at her core, she was still just a little slave girl who's never really had a home before. She had all the powers of a God but the mentality of a broken, lost lifelong slave.
That literally doesn't matter. She's actually God. It doesn't matter if God started out as a person, she's literally seen eternity and lived for millenia in a void. That would change anyone. It's a stupid fucking line.
I always thought that Ymir would end the titan curse if Eren had made the sacrifice to go full rumbling, even if it had killed his friends in the process.
I don't know, why but every time in anime our main character explains us about our own free will, there is no such thing as pre-destined. Then they are told, "hey man you were destined to be here, to be who you are right now. " 😅😅😶
Berserk do the destiny thing well actually, I mean it’s not the idea what I dislike it’s the execution, it was so poorly made and it feels forced, I believe that some things are predestined to happen but I would like the mangakas to portrait that better in they stories
To their perspective it looks like they have freedom but the action of the past affects the future and the action of the future affects the past. But the outcome is only set by the action of the inherent will of the characters🙂
No matter what you do in life you’ll never be free until death cause you’ll always be enslaved to anything wether it be searching for freedom or getting money or finding love or completing your dream you’ll always be enslaved to it up until you die
The worst part about inheriting the attack titan is that because of it's ability to glimpse into the future, the inheritor loses their own free will and becomes a slave to the memories of the future. It's funny because apparently the Attack Titan should've been a representation of Ymir's will to be free.
The real villain here is Ymir. She is the whole reason Eren went to do the rumbling and for his internal conflicts he has had his entire life. Same with the persecution of the Ackermans and is the reason the Marleyans ended up as enemies with the Eldians. I understand her suffering with the king and all, but she allowed genocides to happen over her mental state. I feel so horrible for Eren and Mikasa.
I would say she’s a victim, because the author of AOT himself stated that it is in Eren’s nature to fight for freedom. Being inside the walls surrounded by titans has made Eréndira yearn for freedom. If he lives in a world where he is free he gets bored and will try to find ways to make it chaotic and find himself fighting for freedom. There’s a very good video analysis on his character on UA-cam, it’s about an hour and a half long and I recommend watching the whole thing
@@lifeisbeautifullyhorrible6244 “Still she’s not” the fact you’re not even able to give an explanation shows how you simply don’t want to accept Ymir is the villain
She smiles because Ymir, just like Mikasa is an Ackerman, and seeing Mikasa prevailed over her will and seeing her free from being slave to Eren elates her. Ymir failed to do the same to herself with King Fritz.
@@chiefbeceatbp1846 Ackerman blood does exist and I believe it was explained by genetic testing done on titans by the original King Fritz that created the Ackerman bloodline. I don’t think it would be incorrect to call Mikasa a relative of Ymir considering titans were made by consuming Ymir and her blood comes from the testing that was done on these titans. To think the whole story of aot occurred because of ymirs love for fritz even in death is kind of frustrating. Mikasa has shown the most humanity of all the mcs in the show except when involved in matters of Eren’s safety and I think Ymir relates to that because she originally helped humanity until Fritz enslaved her and she fell in love so she started killing under Fritz’s rule.
In my opinion, Eren and Mikasa did represent King Fritz and Ymir., however Eren and Mikasa are also representative of the two parts of Ymir. Eren represents her desire to be free through any means necessary, whilst Mikasa represented her desire to be loyal and obedient to the man she loved. To shorten it, Eren represents freedom by causing others agony and Mikasa represents slavery by causing herself agony. Eren and Mikasa were the two choices she had. Evil or Good. To sacrifice or to be sacrificed. In the end, she chose the good option to let go of the man she loved to save many others because she saw Mikasa was strong enough to do it. Was it the right option? What is truly good or truly evil? As Levi said, we don't know what the right option is, we must all make that decision for ourselves.
Yea for the people who say eren was like king fritz, he didn't use mikasa as his concubine or some shit._. yea he was aggresive sometimes but thats on his anger issues and jelously of her. he did truly love her its just in ymir's eyes she wanted eren to be the monster and to destroy the lives of others in order for her freedom to be free. no matter how bad it sounds its the truth, but she is human like eren said and just wanted to be free from the toxic love she had for her king.
Honestly, Eren is a badass. He knew that this is what ymir wanted, for him to die by mikasa. That’s why he acted like the bad guy, to protect his friends, and make sure freedom was instilled because if mikasa killed him ymir would have been happy and the Titans would no longer exist. Sadly for Eren, ymir played him and caused more pain and suffering. Tho this story is heartwarming at the same time it’s fuking maniacal
TWIST: Eren takes Ymir's place in the paths, and someone else will inherit the power to free Eren over and over again. Its a vicious cycle that requires a sacrifice to be enslaved.
Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. The path was created when Ymir died because of her will for servitude for King Fritz. The path, the titan's powers and the way they work directly depends on Ymir and Fritz, they were the one who shaped the curse. When she fell in the tree she didn't meet the previous holder of this power, she just found the worm and everything started from there. It is implied that someone who had this worm before died there thousands of years ago and the grave became the tree. So even if Eren died at this place, the only thing that may still be there is the worm. The path ceased to exist when Ymir was freed because that was her specific curse. That was her creation. Whoever fall into the tree at the end will get the Founder and will be able to start a new curse depending on how they will proceed with it, and there's no reason for this new holder to meet the previous one, since it didn't happen for Ymir when she fell in the first place or when she went to the path. She was 100% alone. If someone must be freed in the future that would be the person falling into the tree and get to create the curse
@@MeraHarch True, but I think the path exists with the hallucigenia, not the user. The user simply inhabits it because when Ymir died, the path was 1, then 3 when her daughters ate her body. She didn't access it before her death in the cannon story, but we simply don't know if she didn't. And if Ymir creates the Titan bodies in paths, who or what created hers? What if in other curses, it wouldn't be titans at all?
@@PerigoBerro There's a possibility that the path Ymir is connected to was what created her initial titan self. If the path can exist in all timelines connecting the different subjects and titan hosts, what's to stop it from also creating its own self fulfilling paradox. Like how Eren can change events prior to his own birth, and even further back. So in short, she created herself possibly, the worm just connected the dot from the point of creation after she fell into the tree to whenever slave Ymir in the path created the titan body.
I do have to admit though that the fact that Mikasa is willing to give in when she and Eren are fighting Levi about choosing choosing Erwin over Armin Is pretty cool foreshadowing of her willingness to kill Eren. I just wish he didn’t love her back. It’s so sudden and undeveloped imo.
When Zeke and Eren return to their father's memories, Zeke is discussing saving the world, but Eren doesn't reply to him. Zeke turns around to find Eren staring at the scene where his childhood self is red-faced and putting a scarf on Mikasa. I realized at that moment that Eren was deeply in love with Mikasa.
Underdeveloped maybe, but undeveloped? No, go back through the series, Eren's love for Mikasa definitely is present at least from the time he punched Dina in titan form, if not earlier. It's there if you pay attention to it.
Maybe she technically could. But the whole point is that she was mentally or spiritually unable. She was so enthralled by King Fritz, and so caught up in her love for this tyrant, that she couldn't let go; so she could never force herself to even seriously consider that.
No. Ymir's "love" stopped her from doing anything like that until she saw Mikasa do her ting. Ymir's mental state was comparable to Stockholm syndrome - the same is commonly seen in victims of abuse who don't leave their abuser.
@@HelloArt3mis but I’m saying thoo… if Ymir had all the titan abilities then shouldn’t she have access to erens memories from the future?, but then again I guess she wouldn’t have access to the future if she never took the spear and died to begin with,

@@KingsizeDD The idea of Mikasa having to kill eren isn’t the problem. Just saying Eren was the chosen one, and by killing him the curse would be broke was enough. The idea that Mikasa and Ymir had parallel lives doesn’t make sense, especially since 122 implied a parallel between Ymir and Historia. Also a slight editing of the ending, if not a completely different ending, isn’t unheard of. Inuyasha had a different manga ending than the anime which maid Kagome a parallel of Midoriko. However this was glossed over in the anime.
Its even more messed up because if he made one of them his concubine its was either shortly before or shortly after ymir death since in the picture on his death bed they look the same exact age as when she died
While I do think the ending doesn't make much sense looking at Ymir's actions, I think I can live with the explanation that Ymir became a broken individual after her endless suffering. So much so that her actions, thoughts and needs cannot be comprehended by humans and their logic. I think Isayama tried to imply this when Eren, who related to Ymir more than anyone in the series, stated that even he did not fully understand her heart.
He would be satisfied with his “freedom” at first but like with the outside world before,he’ll probably despise the new world he created through the rumbling and live the rest of his life regretting everything in despair

I think its stupid that she even died from that in the first place "being the most powerful titan" a spear took her out. I mean we seen much worse injuries to the others and they healed from it. I know for them to die they have to have their head cut off, I guess you could say that spear went through her heart though maybe that could be game over too but they really never said it before. Although Eren took a piece of lumber to the chest while facing the female titan but I guess it could be argued it wasn't in the heart.
Honestly looking at the picture it didn't even hit her heart so that just seems like poor writing to me. If anything Eren's injury was close enough to his heart since the heart is slightly middle left. I think they should of came up with a better reason of her death might of just been rushed.
She did not regenerate. She was mentally exhausted and wanting JUST one kind word from Karl Frits but when he said rise work slave she gave up on life.
The regeneration only happens if you have a will to live. Thats what the titan powers are built upon. Ymir became a titan in the first place because she didnt want to die and the Hallucigenia embodies that same feeling as the physical embodiment of life and survival. Causing the first titan transformation. This explains why they have to injure themself to transform and trigger that survival response. When Ymir took the spear for Fritz, even though she should have survived, when she realized Fritz didnt care for her, she let go of the will to live and let herself die. Afterwards she goes to the paths and continues to love Fritz as being a slave is all she knew. She never learned to let go until the events of the rumbling. I hope this clears it up for you. If you think its a bad reason, that fine and I wont continue to try to change your mind. On that note have a nice day. 😊
isn’t it because of the path? if she’s the one molding every titan and transformation, and she didn’t die yet, who could have repaired her injury in the other dimension yet
I feel it makes sense that Eren went forward with it all because it would wipe out titans from existence by freeing Ymir whilst letting the people he loved live a happy life

Bro I keep up constantly with your content and I think there are 2 or 3 other content videos you made that explain this in full detail ,the first time was in a 20min to almost an hour long video debunking how the attack on titan manga ended and why the ending made sense and the motive behind the ending because the author of the story got some sort of inspiration from Game of Thrones' series' ending ,and who is Ymir as well as the reasoning why Eren started the rumbling another video even included the haulucigen and its orgin where you made a recent video explaining in honestly the most legendary way the entire timeline of attack on titan.
Something I've been thinking about recently in regards to the royal blood is that King Fritz didn't impregnante one of his daughters as he is on their deathbed when they are still very young. I actually think that at some point in the future, either the daughter that inherited the ability that would become the coordinate or someone after her simply used the ability to alter the royal bloodline specifically. They altered it so that anyone from their direct line would be able to command Ymir. That way it wouldn't matter who they had kids with, so long as they come from their specific line they have this ability.
Honestly speaking... I love the ending It is so typical of AOT to break our hearts at the end. It would be very stupid and cliche if it ended any other way Only problem I have is that, the thing about her observing Mikasa and trying to see if she could kill Eren should have been expanded on. I get that Ymir is a serious case of Mental issues so ofcourse all she did made sense to her (maybe not us, since technically we aren't as mental as her) but honestly speaking I like the ending. It blew mind and showed us an example of how so many major things could happen in the world all because of a generally minor reason but personally deep(forgive my grammar) All in all, I'm satisfied... Maybe because I personally didn't have anyone in AOT I was fully supporting I loved all the characters (maybe Eren ever more slightly). Still, I accept the way it ended
@@TickleMeTner They probably gonna change it tho. There were loads and loads of complaints and reviews about it so they much they had to make a altered ending for it. Eren might die still as sad as it is because he was a tool to the world tbh. (He is now a bird? Birds are my favorite animals tho). I rather him be rebirth with no titan blood or memories and lived a normal happy life in a more open/freer world 50 years or so down the line. Everything else plays out the same but Eren gets what he wanted all along..A happy free-willed life Ig. That's how I would have wrote it at least
Mikasa never even had a proper conversion with Eren before, they never shared each other interests. I bet Mikasa doesn't even know Eren's favorite ice cream.
Eren ate ice cream once in his life and it was Mikasa's ice cream. Lmao what kind of logic you want to aply? Only Mikasa and Armin knew Eren better than anyone.
Ymir didn’t will Eren to go through the scenario.. Like you said, her only yearn for freedom gave birth to the attack Titan. Eren chose that eventuality. I think it is more of a poetic justice that her freedom is related to the severing.
This is such a pessimistic view of the ending that even I, an ardent pessimist, find your interpretation rather bleak. Eren did accomplish some of his goal, not the freedom he sought for himself, but freedom for those of his friends that survived, and time for his people, the Aldeans(spelling?) to adapt to modern society/technology, so that they had a chance at a future. Looking at the amount of time that passed in the extra pages of the final chapter, I'd say The Rumbling bought the Aldean's btween 60 to 100 years of growth and development, which is more than enough time for everyone Eren cared about to live, love, have children and grandchildren, and die a peaceful death due to old age. As for Eren dying a slave, shackled to a fate that was out of his control, Eren himself acknowledged that he could walk away, but doing so would damn everyone he knew and cared about to short life of hardship and misery before an abrupt death. He exchanged his freedom for the freedom of his loved ones, and a chance for them to live a life of their choosing, which was still one of his own goals to begin with. As for Ymir, yeah, I don't really have anything to say about her. She was a woman born into slavery, lacking the very concept of freedom, and fell further down the rabbit hole by developing Stockholm Syndrome for a tyrannical dictator, doing a lot of good for her people at the expense of those of other outlying tribes and nations. She needed to she that there was something beyond her twisted love and subservience to the will of her long dead slaver, so she set up a scenario in which her stand-in, Mikasa, would be forced into a situation where she had to either let go of her love and kill Eren, or let the rest of non-Aldean humanity be crushed under the foot of The Rumbling. In doing so, Ymir was able to imagine a scenario where she was able to let go of her love and subservience to the long dead king and move on, presumably to the afterlife. Was AoT's ending perfect? No, not by a long shot, but I do think it was the best ending that it could have been, and it was in line with the themes of the entire Attack on Titan story, so I'm personally quite satisfied with how things turned out.
Eren could not walk away from his desire of freedom by himself. U need to read the manga ova lost girls there’s only one thing that could save eren from himself and we see that happening in 138
She gave up on life intentionally, which I find to be a load of BS. Loves him enough to take a spear for the dick, make titans in his name for 2000 years, but not enough to get your ass back up and spare your daughters?
Well here’s a “hot take” I think the way Ymir went about everything was a very human thing People are people so selfishness, thinking of oneself ultimately, and making the mistakes of going back to the toxicity and/or lying So I really like the way it happened cause it doesn’t have to make sense to us it was her story and to her this was necessary “But what about the other people that died” 😑 Dude. Yo that ending when the boy comes across the tree in modern time is just one of the coldest and deepest cliffhangers off all time
I don't know, why but every time in anime our main character explains us about our own free will, there is no such thing as pre-destined. Then they are told, "hey man you were destined to be here, to be who you are right now. " 😅😅😶

@@lifeisbeautifullyhorrible6244 You can be a villain despite being a victim
@@aladdin7387 how do you say so? There's nothing in the story that says otherwise ☺️.
*Ngl, Yelena's face is the stuff of nightmares😨*

Hopefully Mikasa breaks the time loop
So none of this would have happened if some little girl didn't free a bunch of pigs from a pen.
TWIST: Eren takes Ymir's place in the paths, and someone else will inherit the power to free Eren over and over again. Its a vicious cycle that requires a sacrifice to be enslaved.
that could be cool
I had the exact idea!!
But wait… doesn’t that mean Ymir could manipulate her actions from the day she died and cause herself to not take the spear for fritz
Dude….this is a really good question.

Agree. This masterpiece doesn't deserve to have this terrible ending.

Mikasa being the person Ymir has waited 2000 years for is the same asspull as Arya killing the Night King.

Ymir could have survived the stab she got in her chest but no longer had the will to live, she wanted to die

Honestly speaking... I love the ending
It is so typical of AOT to break our hearts at the end. It would be very stupid and cliche if it ended any other way
Only problem I have is that, the thing about her observing Mikasa and trying to see if she could kill Eren should have been expanded on. I get that Ymir is a serious case of Mental issues so ofcourse all she did made sense to her (maybe not us, since technically we aren't as mental as her) but honestly speaking I like the ending. It blew mind and showed us an example of how so many major things could happen in the world all because of a generally minor reason but personally deep(forgive my grammar)
All in all, I'm satisfied... Maybe because I personally didn't have anyone in AOT I was fully supporting
I loved all the characters (maybe Eren ever more slightly). Still, I accept the way it ended

I needed this explanation because i was confused about Ymir and how she kept obeying the royal family and why she did all that for fritz
