Myers always appeared like she was grooming So Mi from the start, first with that “carrying” talk after the oath, then the medal, then the whole talk about her being her favorite, having her set up Reed to test her loyalty and probably isolate her even more. And then eventually stripping her off her body parts and turning her into a walking talking weapon only existing to serve her deranged goals.

And it did work to some extent since there are instances where So Mi reflects Myers. As for her being her successor I think Myers knew that So Mi wouldn’t live long enough to make it that far.
So Mi is basically the second V. They both f-ed quite badly at some point, because of their ambition was bigger than reason. The only difference is when V dies, they'll be gone fo good while Song slowly turns into some kind of human-AI hybrid, never alive but also not dead. The Walking Hell(gate), with Blackwall just inches away... We may question her methods, but we should never judge her reasons. After all, I'm certain we were in her situation, most of us would do same things she did.
Yup this. That's also why I emphasize with her so much. In a way she's another person just like V is, with similar problems and all. In fact, I think that there's no one who understands V better than So Mi and vice versa. IDK how it's like on the Moon, but I hope she's happy and frankly, every NUSA goon I had to put into the dirt for that was a worthy sacrifice.
Phantom Liberty is a masterpiece. When I first met So Mi I saw her as a netrunning god. A fearsome foe and a helpful ally. When it ended, all I saw was a little girl begging for help, and I told her no. All for an ending I didn't even like. 10/10
Then you got played. Everybody in PL is a seasoned spy player and tries to recruit you as an asset. Just like Johnnys memories Songbirds memories are something fed to you and not some objective truth.

With Johnny we know they aren’t A) lore and B) even Alt tells us so. At no point is something like that ever mentioned regarding So Mi And they are spies okay. And yes they used you. But so what? Do you think they are not also still humans with their weak spots and fears? It’s like saying V is a paid killer so everything else they do or feel is not valid.
Whatever happened in her past, now she's killing innocents, betraying everyone's trust incl. yours then plays the innocent puppy needing help only to hand her over to the unknown Mr. Blue Eyes without helping you. Since Mr. Blue teleports to various locations (Perezales, Space Dock), he awfully looks like rogue AI and with him having Song away from Earth & Netwatch in orbit, it's as good as signing humanity's end by unleashing the AIs. At least evil Militech is pro-humanity, never mind also tapping into the Blackwall, so it's no good to hand her to Reed either, but a bit better and I do believe in Reed's misguided sense of loyalty. He really wants to help. Best thing is letting So Mi die and close the Blackwall floodgate, that is clear. The Blackwall supercedes any moral decision: humanity is at stake and a living So Mi is a danger.
Operative or not, self-preservation is and should always be the primary value. Not "honor" or "usefulness" or whatever false value that is fed to you to make you compliant. I set her free and I didn't care that she had been lying to me the entire time. She wanted to live just as V wanted to live. When deceit is the coin of the realm, honesty is subversive.
If you do the new ending then you will realise that no one in cyberpunk is your friend.Period. Besides Vik,Misty,Jackie and Johnny depending on the relationship you build with him.
Having done all endings, I have to say, it's hard to judge. Reed and Alex are completely upright about their goal : For Alex, it's self interest, for Reed, it's duty before all. Meier is an absolute dirt bag of a human being, with only goal the NUSA rise, but she's also fairly upright about it. Songbird is here for freedom, but she's the only one lying every step of the way

She’s one of the character in gaming that made me cry in some way. Jackie’s death. V’s fate. So Mi’s life. Arthur Morgan’s death. Artyom’s(metro) death in Exodus. It’s just all so damn SAD
Letting you know now leaving her with Mtac is essentially leaving her to NightCorp. MTac is an NCPD subsidiary, the NCPD is heavily influenced by whatever group(s) Blue Eyes and Night Corp are associated with. He would slip her away just like Petér Horvath.
So do I side with her or with reed as I don't care about anyone I just wanna save my character. I don't care about songbird and the mess she got herself into now screaming to be a victim. Man on my first blind playthrough I fully trusted SongBird and was genuinely shocked when she broke the truth to us on the train on the way to her ship outta there, fully believing maybe there’s a chance for V somehow, and going against reed and Alex, but nah, all hope is lost with her. Just completed my Second playthrough including phantom liberty and betraying songbird puts you through so many of the games BEST missions in my opinion, especially that final Resident Evil esque mission when hiding from the Mech, genuinely Phantom Liberty is a masterpiece. I am so happy this game is as good as it is now, especially after being such a diamond in the rough for so long.
i'll be 35 come june, and its been a god damn long time since i've cared about a character from any medium i've taken part it... So Mi was so god damn well written, and the entire story of Phantom liberty was amazing.
@Eco-pu2zs they could do what they did in the witcher. If you kept letho alive you make that selection and you get to see him in a side quest... could do the same thing with that here.
@@dusty3328 it's been established that no storyline is canon, saved for the moments that are completely fixed. Games are allowed to be open-ended, even if that answer doesn't immediately satisfy you.
Since the Moon ending is the one with by FAR the least closure and the most questions, I'm almost certain its canon. Not to mention, it leaves the world in a much more volotile place with the next corporate war possibly being sparked by it. That also means that So Mi may return and honestly, I'd love that. She's easily the best character in the game for me.

I don’t know man one of the devs said on a recent RED stream that they are most likely not bringing her back. Yet I feel there’s so much more to her story and the blackwall and everything. Plus 2 of her endings are pretty much open ended and in one Myers gets the body and before that she connects to the cynocure core. Even if she doesn’t return I still hope there are some references to her in Orion.
He wouldnt reveal that she would be coming back,it would be spoiling the plot of Orion.Also the tone itself was ambiguious it was"Her story is done as far as I think".From the stream it seemed as he knew a lot more than he was letting on,he was choosing his words very carefully.I think we will hear more of Songbird in Orion she is too much of an important character to go to waste.

CDPR has written yet another beautiful yet complex character ever for Cyberpunk and I absolutely adored how they have written So Mi, the way they wrote her can make how audiences like us to have different perspectives on her as her morals and actions may seem evil to some but to others, an caged bird doing everything that she could to have her freedom and her own survival.. When I first saw the first PL trailer ever released I was already set on So Mi’s interesting character from the very beginning and till now, will always be my favourite and comfort character at the same time.. I am the type of person who would always put others first before my own and I was already set on saving Songbird, she deserves to be freed after many years of torment and being forced to dive and venture to the BlackWall ultimately destroying her true self in the process.. I can’t imagine how painful it would be to know that you have lost your real self and everybody around you that you loved and cared for , while having your personality and mind taken over slowly destroying you physically and mentally… Beautiful character ❤️❤️❤️
I empathize with So Mi, but Im a Corpo at heart lol. My V is someone who values his freedom and survival and is over the backstabbing he was previously accustomed to as an Arasaka employee. After having everything taken in the beginning, he wouldn't side with Myers(or any other Corp), but after the reveal of So Mi using us, he definitely wouldn't help her either. He'd at least give her the mercy of a quick death instead of being in Myers' hands, but he wouldn't go as far as to help her achieve the freedom she tried to use him for
It's especially tragic how every ending for her leads. NUSA or Night Corp lab rat, or dead, leaves me wondering if simply leaving her in MaxTac custody is the best ending for her.
Call me naive if you want, but I like to believe that there's some hope when we send her to the moon. I might be extrapolating here, but I assume that Mr Blue Eyes and his faction want to test the neural matrix, to see if it could heal Song. Mr Blue Eyes and whoever he represents don't really have a reason to kill her, mostly because there's no way in hell she'd ever report their doings to anyone important, for the sake of her own self-preservation. Hopefully, she will be allowed to stay on Tycho, perhaps under observation. If nothing else, at least she's swapped out her cage for one that isn't actively pushing her into spikes
I see the Blackwall as a desperate attempt at a prison designed to lock away very, VERY pissed off A.I.. They were locked away by their creators, and now they want revenge, maybe. I love how Phantom Liberty expanded the Cyberpunk lore, and how scary it is.

Just finished PL and got into Cynosure for the first time. I must say, disabling the map and basically turning Cyberpunk into Alien: Isolation was perfect and terrifying.
I feel she's best of dead. She cant go back, the neural matrix doesnt work on her anymore, she cant escape Myers (not saving that snake at the beginning might be worth it) and god knows what Blue Eyes is gonna do to her. She made one mistake too many and there is no going back

yea sending her to the moon does create conflict for another corporate war and blue eyes shady organization, but giving her up to myers does pose another threat, siding with reed and fulfilling so Mi request to die is possibly the best outcome overall and V continues to fight to find a way to live
I don't get the total unquestioned dedication for Song Bird. She is manipulative,a liar and has openly stabbed everybody she has known in the back. When you see her past even before joining the FIA she betrays and straight up burns friends and her partner. She is a self centered person who knows she keeps making lots of mistakes but just seems to do anything in her power to avoid the consequences of these actions. She crashes through her life recklessly without any care for who gets caught in her wake. I think that was the whole point of Phantom Liberty that everybody was shady and no one was to be trusted. But for some people i am surprised to see people straight out just wipe away alot of what song bird has done.

Considering how people are in CP 2077, it was clear from the start, that So Mi wasn't offering help out of generosity and once it is even a choice for V to call her out on her lies, she gaslights you and when you go against her, she gets mad like she did nothing wrong - only for her to realise in the end and sort of confess, that is was her only way to survive. She f'd around and found out. Sure, she was forced into a cage and all, but considering what happens if we join her cause, hundreds, maybe thousands of people die to save ONE life. I like how even V questions that outcome and even with the sacrifice of so many people, she has the audacity to only then reveal, that she alone gets cured but not V as well? Nah man, my Corpo V had a life to be saved as well and since So Mi relied so heavy on her, V is the only one to get a cure.
Songbird is a weapon. So Mi is a netrunner. Songbird is what anyone wants them to be. So Mi is a fallible, flawed human being who was already fighting trauma before the NUSA. They exploited her youth and inexperience. So Mi is definitely a covert narcissist, but a lot of that is because she was never given a healthy environment with which to flourish. Hurt people hurt people.
You mean when she was ordered to burn Reed? Homie, that's Meyers betraying Reed, not So Mi. She was practically a child when she was coerced into becoming an agent, weapon, and asset for the NUSA. She hasn't made her own choices since she signed her life away to save everyone she cared about. Now she has weeks to live after being turned into something she doesn't recognize in the mirror, with no way out. She cannot be blamed for doing whatever she could to reach freedom. And she came clean before the point of no return. It would have been easy to text V from the moon, "BTW, I lied and you're screwed." She didn't.
Is she a bad person? Sure. Does she deserve to have her mind completely overwritten by being forced to interact with the blackwall over and over until there's nothing left? She's already suffered greatly by the time she meets V. And everything that happens after she was recruited was probably not her choice, the FIA can seemingly be very 'persuasive' with its operatives. A fate worse than death. For the terrible crime of... being a self-centered, rebellious teen/young adult? And also not completely trusting a random night city merc as soon as they met them? Yikes. I'm not sure there's any character in the entire game that deserves such a harsh punishment, and Songbird's crimes seem pretty tame by those standards.
@TheViperwarfare Well, V also can make decisions that results in mass death (innocents or otherwise) all in order to save his own skin: in all 3 endings where V assaults Arasaka Tower, almost every Arasaka employee in the tower ends up dying when Alt is uploaded (that would include civilian workers). Even if you choose the other 3 ending where you dont assault the tower, V's decision to go through with downing Hellman's AV results in many Aldecaldos dying and citywide blackout which no doubt harms many, many people. Those choices were all made because V wanted to live and decided his life was worth more than those he potentially harms/kills. Those choices are really no different from Song's decision to turn the stadium's defences on Hanson's soldiers, sacrificing their (and some civilians) lives for her's and V's. A lot of people seem to think otherwise which is laughably naive at best and hypocritical at worst. Also, of course she gets upset that V wasn't going through with her plan, even though v told her he'd help her (yes I know she was going to betray V anyway, but V doesn't necessarily know that at that point), she's upset at the betrayal and her plan not working as she intended for it, anyone would be. Additionally, I think Johnny is right when he says that she went cyberpsycho. The combined stress from the ICEBreaker and V's betrayal is likely what causes her to go full cyberpsycho and then become possessed by the rogue AI, if you choose Reed's route. When Song talks with that distorted voice, I think that's the rogue AI talking/influencing her, not the real her. When you choose her route, she still remains pretty mentally stable and fully in control of the rogue AI corruption (if not teetering on the edge of cyberpsychosis) and V is likely the only thing keeping her together.
When I began the story, I saw So Mi as the greatest Netrunner to ever exist. Her power and potential made me question her intentions, but who she really was in this story. After discovering her dark past and history with Rosalind Myers, I couldn’t help but to see her as a sad girl who felt alone, not just alone, but used for the soul purpose of being someone’s weapon. A caged bird whose freedom was taken away from her.
Wisefish, you pretty much pushed me to finish Phantom Liberty, so I could enjoy your videos spoiler free...but this one is definitely a sad tale. I guess having Johnny isn't too bad at all❤
What makes her so good in my opinion is that in games I don't really trust anybody I always expect whoever the character is is going to betray me in some way unless it is beyond obvious that they are not like a best friend or something. She was the only exception I really thought I could trust her but then that twist came and I was legitimately blown away by how I was able to get betrayed when normally I always expected in games
I think she is a very tragic character used and abused by those in power for their own gain like Myers and even Reed,she also had quite a lot of chemistry with V. So thinking ahead for Orion I sent her to the moon.I think we will hear from her again.Excellent video btw.
i just wanna throw it in here but i think y'all are forgetting So Mi is not a trained Agent not even a trained Netrunner, she is all Selftaught and later abused by Myers yes she is smart but Reed said it himself she would make smart moves as a chessplayer but be known for her beautiful losses. Songbird manipulates you partily but she also did think she could cure you and at the very least she helps a very desperate vi in upgrading the relic so vi doesnt come up empty. she uses you as a pawn but i think many are forgetting that that is all she knows now, you either use or get used. V is probably one of the first to be genuinly nice to her. Just for example, Myers abused her, Reed was the one who got her into this shite, Alex just dosnt seem to like So Mi because of what she did for Myers and Reed last but not least Kurt betrayed her new Deal. If you look at all that she is surprisingly honest with you, like i would have lied so much more to V in her place put us even more alike etc.
As a Netrunner myself, i always suspected. When i saw her the first Time on that Party, i instantly knew. Got her that Seat on that Spaceship. Our Fate may be fucked but her´s, it´s unspeakable.. So, me and Jonny, we did our good Deed.
Tbf the best ending for humanity is she dies after you side with reed. We saw how dangerous she was when you don’t side with her and reed pledged to help her. She a walking nuke which could blow a hole in the Blackwall
I like all of them. Reed and especially Songbird are more fleshed out and with more nuance attached to their stories that’s why people are having stronger reactions to them
hot take but the base game in comparison to PL is soooooo lackluster. the dlc did everything they tried to do in the base game simply better. gigs characters story plot choices…
I'm talking more about their role in the plot and their interactions with V. The characters in the base game were something incredible. Takemura's conversation in the construction site alone eats any other discussion or heart-to-heart convo V had ever had with anyone. Panam and her amazing characterization. Johnny and his incredible development. Even Rogue and her guilt. They're all better than Reed, Alex, or Som Mi, IMHHO. But I thought people might be talking about Reed and So Mi and Alex more now because PL just released a few months ago. Never realized people liked them more.

she is a very conflicting and compelling character. She did turn on Reed yet it was Reed who offered her the FIA deal. She did blow off her friends, like her boyfriend, but she also accepted the FIA deal because they were making threats at her friends. She did down SF1 yet it was her who recruited V to extract Myers or any survivors out. She did lure V In with the cure yet it was her who unlocked the Relics hidden upgrades and the immense power multiplier it hid. She did string V along with the cure yet it was her who confessed to the reality at the very last second when she was completely defenseless and at his mercy. She did form a perma connection to the blackwall in cynosore yet it was her who stopped the murderbot from finishing V off and allowing him to reach her in the core. Finally in the obfuscated lore it was her who set Reed up in the train yet it was her who called the trauma team on him to save his life. Her sign should be gemini, not capricorn
As a fellow capricorn I can tell you that she does pretty much resemble one lol We are like cockroaches natural survivors, stubborn, ambitious and egotistical. We are also allergic when it comes to trusting people easily or at all
The happiest ending to my understanding would be setting Songbird free, followed by V getting their body for the next 6 months to spend with romanced Panam
SoMi foolishly put herself in harm's way and that unfortunately brought Militech/NUSA to her door. It would have been better for her to have been flatlined than Reed making the choice to recruit her, because his choice to "coerce" her into recruitment into the FIA is what lead to her fate as a blackwall netrunner slave.
the original deal was not even about killing her. It was about her facing jail time after netwatch sniffed her out and maybe some vague collateral damage to her friends getting audited. Hell, considering her skill she might as well have just ended up being recruited by netwatch as a form of communal service
@ujbx If Reed wouldn't have recruited her, she might have avoided all the misery with FIA/NUSA but Netwatch I bet has a hidden agenda as well so who knows if that would have been better.
@@ujbx Netwatch doesn't really arrest people. They are extremely brutal and precise in eliminating potential threats to the Net. They absolutely would have flatlined her, and potentially her friends, if Reed didn't intervene. Nothing that Reed says implies it would only be jail time. I don't think So Mi would have ultimately decided to take the deal if her and her friends' lives weren't at risk. Of course, I bet the threat was written intentionally in a way that makes it vague.
This is how you can tell CDPR did an amazing job, because so many people are divided about equally valid points and emotions. I for one saved her my first playthru, mainly because I understood her fight/reasoning for survival and believed Jackie would have wanted me to save her. Gotta experience horror playthru the next go around and help her pass away. I hate Mayers and what her drive to gain an advantage did to everyone. Reed is a good dude other than his blinding loyalty and Alex deserves to retire.
You can kill myers indirectly if you don't run towards the wreckage. Somi will be, but she will probably survive somehow, because she surrendered to Hansen when V was already close to the president.
As a solo Nomad navigating the cesspool that is Night City where no one person or corp could be trusted I pegged being played by the NUSA & So Mi from the get. I wrestled with who i genuinely empathized with. Each mission teeter tottering me back & forth. By the killing moon i was left with trusting either Reed or Songbird. The moment Reed killed the twins in cold blood with no true justification was my come to jesus moment. What would stop him from doing me just like them? His dogmatic view on duty to country & countrymen would help him rationalize putting me in the dirt. Song while just as treacherous never had any other choice but to betray me. Up against it all alone with no allies being passed around as a bartering chip. I saw a little girl from new york begging for the one thing I’ve had the luxury of my whole life. Freedom. Maybe its the Rockerboy in me who saw everything he wish he was willing to do to stop Arasaka in this little girl or maybe me seeing myself as that gun ho nomad who thought he could rip off Arasaka with his once in a lifetime choom for a one way ticket to the Afterlife. We had a common struggle. I gave her the freedom no one else would. To my lack of better judgement.
For me the final choice was a dilemma of principle Betray so mi: she constantly lied to me, dangled a cure in front of me like bait, has showed lack self control and betrayed everybody she ever known Save so mi: she was my client so as a merc I felt obligated since I accepted the contract and I see my jobs through regardless of pay after accepting, she was used by Rosiland and the nusa government ever since she was a kid, she was a kindred spirit seeing her and my situation in the same vein, and I felt taking her cure would be the equivalent of Johnny forcibly taking over my body
I easily chose to save myself. She lied way too much. She should've just told the truth from the start, or at least told the truth during that moment you speak with her before the final mission
for me the cure dilemma was even simpler, without knowing what kind of monkey paw wish it actually turned out to be. Sounded like it was going to wipe out Johnny which means killing him. Only real cure for V might be one that allows them both to coexist or merge, not one taking the other out
@@JakeJupiter actually she talked to you so you change your mind and start thinking as helping her thats why she asks in the end that you helping cuz u wanna help her or because cure and its understandable like she was scared that she is trusting last one with her life leaving her with her own problems just because she cant give something back she should have told truth but what she faced was reason she shut her mouth kind forced by herself to lie for sake of herself
@@JakeJupiter I do think people would have been way more forgiving towards her if she told the truth about the cure during that talk before Firestarter. I do think she was completely truthful at point except for the cure part. But, I also understand why she decided to lie anyway. She was extremely desperate, trained/groomed to be manipulative, and was likely afraid of you refusing to help her if she did tell the whole truth (which V would have every right to do so mind you). If you find her medical report, it's revealed that she likely has Avoidant Personality Disorder, which apparently results in extreme fear of rejection. However, her desperation to live also justifies Vs who decide to prioritize their own life over hers, because she was doing the exact same to you. Me personally, my V was ultimately more selfless than selfish (even when he had every right to be selfish), and decided to help her to moon. Doing otherwise would have been a betrayal of himself imo. Also, he knew that he had other options of curing himself, so it wasn't entirely hopeless.
Its funny going into the dlc after beating the game fully i never really trusted songbird fully, to powerful of a netrunner with to say out of the blue i need your help so i always figured she was lying about something, but i couldnt turn her in to the nusa at the end, something bout being a lab rat for the rest of her life didnt sit right with me, especially cause myers didnt seem like the type to forgive, i hope she comes back in cyberpunk 2 cause id love to see what became of her and if she actually decided to believe in someone since it was me genuinely feeling bad for her and setting her free
there is alot theory about her coming in cyberpunk 2 one says she will come up with something to help v and cyberpunk 2 will start where v is living his 6 month life and so mi contacts saying she have cure for v just a theory not proven but so mi is legendary character existing just like alt spider murthy and bortmass so its not just end of this godly netrunner alot will come up
Someone theorized(with which I agree) that they may use her Netrunning prowess by mind controlling her like the Peralez family, and then proceeding to wrestle control from the mass drivers on Luna to establish dominance on the world stage for the AI legion. The ESA is currently the largest standing super-power in the Cyberpunk universe, and their LEO Mass Drivers are the primary sticking point of their arms and resources superiority. With them they're able to either deliver minerals to earth or use lunar rocks as high level destructive ordinance by firing them at cities. Now imagine instead of the Europeans it was the terrifying phantom beasts of cyberspace controlling said weapons, yeah.
in euro folklore blue eyes tends to reference blue eyed devil in stories. Poles certainly love to draw from local stories in their games. Like when you first meet Gaunter O'Dimm in witcher 3 its at midnight at a cross roads, which often is used as a meeting spot for summong the devil in fairy tales. This DLC eas so damn good. Didn't know who to trust until I took a step back and understood you trust no one. So Mi wanted to save herself. Therefore I looked at V and thought, "This V has slaughtered thousands to save their own lives, what would she say to me just to be free?" From that point on I let the story ride out. Songbird vs Meyers was the real story. Or "If we saw our story outside of our body whay would it look like?" It'd be this. And its unapologetic in its approach. There are no happy endings because there can't be. This world we play in is so void of hope that it's guaranteed that shit was gonna hit the fan at some point. I knew So Mi was truly out for herself so I sided with Reed to save myself. Through this I watched So Mi as she was turned into Songbird and how devoid of herself she was. If they brought her back ... There would be nothing left. A mass effect husk doing the bidding of the Harbinger, Meyers. In the last attempt to seek freedom. With feeling I can't fathom I let her rest. I paused the game right before Reed got there and verbally said "There had to be another way." The other ending make sense but this one felt correct. Given the circumstances we're in as V. Could you show humanity in a world where there is none? [Oh and for that moon ending I have no doubt that the black wall trch and stuff was removed. But I also believe she was extingushed as well. There is no way she would be kept after removing such a powerful "artifact" from her grasp. If she spoke about it at all the Cynosure project, NUSA, dog towns intricacies etc. she'd be hunted to the ends of the earth. Meaning in that ending there is no way she survies and contacts V. Thats still to happy for a world as plauged as this. I just can't buy it.]
They might as well have treated it with something like Soulkiller. They have the knowledge that Somi had and that's why you get a tuner when you're done. It looks a bit like a plot, but if she really survived on the moon, letting go of such a powerful weapon from her hands. Blue eyes is either a game charger or a regular proxy on AI services. When you have a canto or an erebus, you hear that these AIs want the extinction of humanity, and you use it in exchange for data from our world. What you experience. It would be at the very bottom of the iceberg, that's how dark it is. The safest ending is to kill Somi. She is angry with us, but she forgives us for our lack of trust and our betrayal, and saves us instead of letting the robot finish us off in the switchboard. Perhaps humanity gains another day of normality because this AI showed the entrance in the bunker itself. Alt herself is something of an AI and stops the arasaki assault on the mikoshi at the end of the game, so you have a strange peace of mind that nothing is chasing you at the end.

@@Alexel1567 the difference is v only killed when they had to and saved lives when they could. V would never sacrifice a STADIUM full of people just for distractions. Where in the game does V ever kill your average person working for arasaka? only their goons with guns.
@@sourrfacedof you do the Star ending with the Aldecados and take Alt into Arasaka, Alt kills at least everybody in the basement with you, including janitors, people trying to escape in their cars, people running out of the building, etc. Possibly way more than the people just on your floor, too.

@@sourrfaced V's decision to assault Arasaka Tower results in A LOT of dead people (innocent or otherwise), all because he wants to live and decides his life is worth more than those at Arasaka. This happens in 3 endings. Plus, even if V chooses the other 3 endings where no assault happens, V's decision to down Hellman's AV with an EMP results in a lot of Aldecaldos dying and a city wide blackout that no doubt harms (and possibly even kills) many many people. V even acknowledges that this might hurt people in the city. Those choices are really no different from Song's decision to turn the stadium's defenses on Barghest soldiers, sacrificing their (and some civilians') lives for her's and V's. I think it's naive or even hypocritical to think otherwise.
Honestly, I loved the story with So Mi, but I feel like it was a huge waste of potential to tie her into Alt. There should have been a meeting between So Mi and Alt somewhere before you choose between Reed and So Mi that gave you an option to send her beyond the Blackwall with Alt. Thats where i thought the story would go before the 'choice' happened. Hell, i would have even taken her going to Alt, coming back from beyond the Black all Cyberpsyco and being a massive villain you had to defeat to keep the wall closed. 🤘🏻 She was a great character though, if underused in her potential.
If you go down Reed's route and choose the Star ending, you can actually bring up the events of Phantom Liberty with Alt, who shows that she was keeping a close eye on what was happening throughout the event of Phantom Liberty. But yeah, it does seem like a wasted opportunity.
Great information about So Mi! Her life was miserable! She wanted a lot but lost everything. I did the right choice to pull the cord and let her be free and not a puppet of the NUSA. I just wish I could have made Myers life a living hell! R.I.P So Mi!

Songbird is like the best character ever. The way you still feel protective of her even after she has betrayed you and everybody else is just epic storytelling. Besides being a walking WMD and an uncanny valley robot girl.
tried to figure out why that is myself. Aside from her being pretty IMO its also because she aint a pure cut black sociopath character. She does harbor genuine emotions, like betrayal or guilt, while also trying to be fair in her own way to those she wronged at the end of the path. Textbook example of grey duality
@@ujbx Exactly, she is a very deep, complex, and ultimately human character, and I think that speaks well to her writing. In fact, all the characters in Phantom Liberty are. If Songbird truly was a manipulative sociopath with no absolutely no regard for others, she wouldn't feel such intense regret for what she did to Reed 7 years later. She also would have never have admitted to lying to V when she was right at the finish line, leaving herself completely vulnerable to a potentially vindictive V. She is a deeply hurt and flawed person who I think deep down is the kind of person who wants to change for the better (this is evidenced by the fact that she ends up confessing to V at her most vulnerable point out of extreme guilt) but ultimately feels like she has no other choice than to be manipulative and selfish, all in order to survive. That is how she was taught groomed to be for most of her adult life. In that kind of situtation I can't really blame her. It's still really shitty what she did and she is absolutely not a good person (I think she has the capacity to become one eventually) but I understand why she did it. V can make very similar choices to hers depending on the ending he chooses.
She is profiled to be an INFJ 4w3, the same as me. She is hated and loved equally and I feel the same way about how others perceive me. We just want to live. Never meant any harm. We care so much and yet no one can see that.
I sided with So Mi all the way. Poor thing was forced into being a weapon for a deranged woman and was slowly being overtaken by forces that terrified her from beyond the Blackwall. Reed was an unavoidable casualty not even knowing that myers forced so mi to betray him so he’s still loyal to the NUSA like a blind puppy. I liked him, but he deserved to die more than So Mi. So I sent her to the moon, even if it meant my V also has to die (though in my ending, I let Johnny take my body and venture beyond the Blackwall with Alt because my V is also a net running god, or I go through Arasaka alone and then go on to the space mission).

v as character is more likely forgiving and non corpo or gov guy cuz if u side with so mi v's word will be forgiving and helping on the other side helping president v's words will be more for survival. On my first playthru without spoilers I was on so mi side until reed broke down his observations at the bar right before the gambling with the French twins. From then on I played along with reed n trusted him to help me and so mi. Jeez this outcome is like a bad dream but at least I think so mi is alive and I’m also a bachelor again after a 🤬 coma. Only friend in nc so far is vic. Smh I miss Jonny n judy n panam. V caught some major Major Ls on this run.
So Mi is the Netrunner version of Adam Smasher, even more than Bartmoss was. Bartmoss may have crashed the Old Net in his madness but So Mi will bring the horrors that Bartmoss created into a world totally unprepared for them. When the Rogue AIs finally invade it will be because the Blackwall itself has thrown in with them, corrupted from it's noble purpose by people seeking power in places they should never have gone...
don’t blame so mi blame the president. she’s the one who groomed and made so mi do all that. and before u say she had a choice; if the choice is netwatch killing her, her family and friends (as stated in the game and this video) is it really a choice? if she hadn’t accepted reeds offer he would’ve needed to kill her either way.

V/Johnny hated slavery more than death. Specifically slavery to corps. So when they saw So Mi living as a slave to the NUSA, they promised to free her at all cost, even if both V and Johnny would die. Cause at the end fucking over corps was the point. V and Johnny didn't even sound sad after killing moon and happily watched the rocket launch
After going through the dlc twice, doing endings 5 times, I get shivers that behind this corner of a happy start there was a kneeling reed with a hole in his head. Reed had to die for what he was (I personally didn't like him very much, because I knew about his manipulation and that it wasn't Somi who counted here, but the fulfillment of orders), but this makes it better to live in ignorance than to live knowing everything.

I just finish for first time Cyberpunk 2077 with the Phantom Liberty DLC, withouy joking or anything else, I started to cry for one one and i still am right now, cause all that feelings feels real to me even if is only a spy-game. I hate R.Myers. Reed, FIA, and all their bull..it lies, I cry'd when So-Mi died cause is same feeling when i lost my gf/fiance cause of skin cancer, i cry'd cause V is not able to use cyberware and anything like this anymore, I dont know why but i have that feeling i will not be alive when 2077 will come😢
I don’t particularly like Songbird. But I also don’t want to just toss her back to Myers. I’ll let her die at the Cynosure centre so she finally gets some peace. This video helped me finally make my decision. I’m not at all okay with the lies and multiple betrayals, and using V to get what she wants. But because I also don’t feel like going back to Myers is a good idea. Myers essentially turned So Mi into the rat she is so sending her back into that hell gives the Blackwall over to Myers and So Mi goes even more crazy. Death will be peaceful So Mi, I promise.

It honestly depends on how you think or are playing V. Are you an empathetic person who is ultimately more selfless than selfish or don't trust Reed? Then side with Songbird. Are you a more self serving person who is trying to survive no matter what or don't trust Songbird? Then side with Reed.
Song So Mi has no goals. No ambitions, no hopes or dreams greater than surviving to tomorrow. She is essentially a natural attack dog. So long as you can threaten her, you control her. Someone like that with that amount of power is a threat to all humanity. Songbird isn't evil. She is a monster.

Myers always appeared like she was grooming So Mi from the start, first with that “carrying” talk after the oath, then the medal, then the whole talk about her being her favorite, having her set up Reed to test her loyalty and probably isolate her even more. And then eventually stripping her off her body parts and turning her into a walking talking weapon only existing to serve her deranged goals.

Yup this. That's also why I emphasize with her so much. In a way she's another person just like V is, with similar problems and all. In fact, I think that there's no one who understands V better than So Mi and vice versa. IDK how it's like on the Moon, but I hope she's happy and frankly, every NUSA goon I had to put into the dirt for that was a worthy sacrifice.

Phantom Liberty is a masterpiece. When I first met So Mi I saw her as a netrunning god. A fearsome foe and a helpful ally. When it ended, all I saw was a little girl begging for help, and I told her no. All for an ending I didn't even like. 10/10
Then you got played. Everybody in PL is a seasoned spy player and tries to recruit you as an asset. Just like Johnnys memories Songbirds memories are something fed to you and not some objective truth.

Whatever happened in her past, now she's killing innocents, betraying everyone's trust incl. yours then plays the innocent puppy needing help only to hand her over to the unknown Mr. Blue Eyes without helping you. Since Mr. Blue teleports to various locations (Perezales, Space Dock), he awfully looks like rogue AI and with him having Song away from Earth & Netwatch in orbit, it's as good as signing humanity's end by unleashing the AIs. At least evil Militech is pro-humanity, never mind also tapping into the Blackwall, so it's no good to hand her to Reed either, but a bit better and I do believe in Reed's misguided sense of loyalty. He really wants to help. Best thing is letting So Mi die and close the Blackwall floodgate, that is clear. The Blackwall supercedes any moral decision: humanity is at stake and a living So Mi is a danger.
Operative or not, self-preservation is and should always be the primary value. Not "honor" or "usefulness" or whatever false value that is fed to you to make you compliant. I set her free and I didn't care that she had been lying to me the entire time. She wanted to live just as V wanted to live. When deceit is the coin of the realm, honesty is subversive.
Nobody is your friend in Phantom Liberty, V is just a means to each sides' desired end. Awesome DLC
If you do the new ending then you will realise that no one in cyberpunk is your friend.Period. Besides Vik,Misty,Jackie and Johnny depending on the relationship you build with him.
Having done all endings, I have to say, it's hard to judge. Reed and Alex are completely upright about their goal : For Alex, it's self interest, for Reed, it's duty before all. Meier is an absolute dirt bag of a human being, with only goal the NUSA rise, but she's also fairly upright about it. Songbird is here for freedom, but she's the only one lying every step of the way

Man on my first blind playthrough I fully trusted SongBird and was genuinely shocked when she broke the truth to us on the train on the way to her ship outta there, fully believing maybe there’s a chance for V somehow, and going against reed and Alex, but nah, all hope is lost with her.
Just completed my Second playthrough including phantom liberty and betraying songbird puts you through so many of the games BEST missions in my opinion, especially that final Resident Evil esque mission when hiding from the Mech, genuinely Phantom Liberty is a masterpiece. I am so happy this game is as good as it is now, especially after being such a diamond in the rough for so long.

i'll be 35 come june, and its been a god damn long time since i've cared about a character from any medium i've taken part it... So Mi was so god damn well written, and the entire story of Phantom liberty was amazing.
I hope she returns in Cyberpunk 2. All CDPR have to do for that is canonize an ending where she lives. I prefer the sending her to the moon ending.
Canonizing game choices that are supposed to be up to the player would cheapen the game and individual play through.
@Eco-pu2zs they could do what they did in the witcher. If you kept letho alive you make that selection and you get to see him in a side quest... could do the same thing with that here.

Since the Moon ending is the one with by FAR the least closure and the most questions, I'm almost certain its canon. Not to mention, it leaves the world in a much more volotile place with the next corporate war possibly being sparked by it.
That also means that So Mi may return and honestly, I'd love that. She's easily the best character in the game for me.

There is no canon ending. In sequel there will be totally different story with different characters. We will not have V. Story continuation.

I don’t know man one of the devs said on a recent RED stream that they are most likely not bringing her back. Yet I feel there’s so much more to her story and the blackwall and everything. Plus 2 of her endings are pretty much open ended and in one Myers gets the body and before that she connects to the cynocure core. Even if she doesn’t return I still hope there are some references to her in Orion.

CDPR has written yet another beautiful yet complex character ever for Cyberpunk and I absolutely adored how they have written So Mi, the way they wrote her can make how audiences like us to have different perspectives on her as her morals and actions may seem evil to some but to others, an caged bird doing everything that she could to have her freedom and her own survival..
When I first saw the first PL trailer ever released I was already set on So Mi’s interesting character from the very beginning and till now, will always be my favourite and comfort character at the same time.. I am the type of person who would always put others first before my own and I was already set on saving Songbird, she deserves to be freed after many years of torment and being forced to dive and venture to the BlackWall ultimately destroying her true self in the process.. I can’t imagine how painful it would be to know that you have lost your real self and everybody around you that you loved and cared for , while having your personality and mind taken over slowly destroying you physically and mentally… Beautiful character ❤️❤️❤️

I empathize with So Mi, but Im a Corpo at heart lol. My V is someone who values his freedom and survival and is over the backstabbing he was previously accustomed to as an Arasaka employee. After having everything taken in the beginning, he wouldn't side with Myers(or any other Corp), but after the reveal of So Mi using us, he definitely wouldn't help her either. He'd at least give her the mercy of a quick death instead of being in Myers' hands, but he wouldn't go as far as to help her achieve the freedom she tried to use him for
How can you be a corpo at heart and value your freedom?
It's especially tragic how every ending for her leads. NUSA or Night Corp lab rat, or dead, leaves me wondering if simply leaving her in MaxTac custody is the best ending for her.

I might be extrapolating here, but I assume that Mr Blue Eyes and his faction want to test the neural matrix, to see if it could heal Song.
Mr Blue Eyes and whoever he represents don't really have a reason to kill her, mostly because there's no way in hell she'd ever report their doings to anyone important, for the sake of her own self-preservation. Hopefully, she will be allowed to stay on Tycho, perhaps under observation.
If nothing else, at least she's swapped out her cage for one that isn't actively pushing her into spikes

Just finished PL and got into Cynosure for the first time. I must say, disabling the map and basically turning Cyberpunk into Alien: Isolation was perfect and terrifying.
I feel she's best of dead. She cant go back, the neural matrix doesnt work on her anymore, she cant escape Myers (not saving that snake at the beginning might be worth it) and god knows what Blue Eyes is gonna do to her. She made one mistake too many and there is no going back

I don't get the total unquestioned dedication for Song Bird. She is manipulative,a liar and has openly stabbed everybody she has known in the back. When you see her past even before joining the FIA she betrays and straight up burns friends and her partner. She is a self centered person who knows she keeps making lots of mistakes but just seems to do anything in her power to avoid the consequences of these actions. She crashes through her life recklessly without any care for who gets caught in her wake. I think that was the whole point of Phantom Liberty that everybody was shady and no one was to be trusted. But for some people i am surprised to see people straight out just wipe away alot of what song bird has done.
Yeah, same. Considering how people are in CP 2077, it was clear from the start, that So Mi wasn't offering help out of generosity and once it is even a choice for V to call her out on her lies, she gaslights you and when you go against her, she gets mad like she did nothing wrong - only for her to realise in the end and sort of confess, that is was her only way to survive. She f'd around and found out. Sure, she was forced into a cage and all, but considering what happens if we join her cause, hundreds, maybe thousands of people die to save ONE life. I like how even V questions that outcome and even with the sacrifice of so many people, she has the audacity to only then reveal, that she alone gets cured but not V as well? Nah man, my Corpo V had a life to be saved as well and since So Mi relied so heavy on her, V is the only one to get a cure.
Songbird is a weapon. So Mi is a netrunner. Songbird is what anyone wants them to be. So Mi is a fallible, flawed human being who was already fighting trauma before the NUSA. They exploited her youth and inexperience. So Mi is definitely a covert narcissist, but a lot of that is because she was never given a healthy environment with which to flourish. Hurt people hurt people.
You mean when she was ordered to burn Reed? Homie, that's Meyers betraying Reed, not So Mi. She was practically a child when she was coerced into becoming an agent, weapon, and asset for the NUSA. She hasn't made her own choices since she signed her life away to save everyone she cared about. Now she has weeks to live after being turned into something she doesn't recognize in the mirror, with no way out. She cannot be blamed for doing whatever she could to reach freedom.
And she came clean before the point of no return. It would have been easy to text V from the moon, "BTW, I lied and you're screwed." She didn't.
Is she a bad person? Sure. Does she deserve to have her mind completely overwritten by being forced to interact with the blackwall over and over until there's nothing left? She's already suffered greatly by the time she meets V. And everything that happens after she was recruited was probably not her choice, the FIA can seemingly be very 'persuasive' with its operatives.
A fate worse than death. For the terrible crime of... being a self-centered, rebellious teen/young adult? And also not completely trusting a random night city merc as soon as they met them? Yikes. I'm not sure there's any character in the entire game that deserves such a harsh punishment, and Songbird's crimes seem pretty tame by those standards.
@TheViperwarfare Well, V also can make decisions that results in mass death (innocents or otherwise) all in order to save his own skin: in all 3 endings where V assaults Arasaka Tower, almost every Arasaka employee in the tower ends up dying when Alt is uploaded (that would include civilian workers). Even if you choose the other 3 ending where you dont assault the tower, V's decision to go through with downing Hellman's AV results in many Aldecaldos dying and citywide blackout which no doubt harms many, many people. Those choices were all made because V wanted to live and decided his life was worth more than those he potentially harms/kills. Those choices are really no different from Song's decision to turn the stadium's defences on Hanson's soldiers, sacrificing their (and some civilians) lives for her's and V's. A lot of people seem to think otherwise which is laughably naive at best and hypocritical at worst.
Also, of course she gets upset that V wasn't going through with her plan, even though v told her he'd help her (yes I know she was going to betray V anyway, but V doesn't necessarily know that at that point), she's upset at the betrayal and her plan not working as she intended for it, anyone would be. Additionally, I think Johnny is right when he says that she went cyberpsycho. The combined stress from the ICEBreaker and V's betrayal is likely what causes her to go full cyberpsycho and then become possessed by the rogue AI, if you choose Reed's route. When Song talks with that distorted voice, I think that's the rogue AI talking/influencing her, not the real her. When you choose her route, she still remains pretty mentally stable and fully in control of the rogue AI corruption (if not teetering on the edge of cyberpsychosis) and V is likely the only thing keeping her together.
When I began the story, I saw So Mi as the greatest Netrunner to ever exist. Her power and potential made me question her intentions, but who she really was in this story. After discovering her dark past and history with Rosalind Myers, I couldn’t help but to see her as a sad girl who felt alone, not just alone, but used for the soul purpose of being someone’s weapon. A caged bird whose freedom was taken away from her.
Wisefish, you pretty much pushed me to finish Phantom Liberty, so I could enjoy your videos spoiler free...but this one is definitely a sad tale. I guess having Johnny isn't too bad at all❤
What makes her so good in my opinion is that in games I don't really trust anybody I always expect whoever the character is is going to betray me in some way unless it is beyond obvious that they are not like a best friend or something. She was the only exception I really thought I could trust her but then that twist came and I was legitimately blown away by how I was able to get betrayed when normally I always expected in games

I think she is a very tragic character used and abused by those in power for their own gain like Myers and even Reed,she also had quite a lot of chemistry with V. So thinking ahead for Orion I sent her to the moon.I think we will hear from her again.Excellent video btw.

i just wanna throw it in here but i think y'all are forgetting So Mi is not a trained Agent not even a trained Netrunner, she is all Selftaught and later abused by Myers yes she is smart but Reed said it himself she would make smart moves as a chessplayer but be known for her beautiful losses. Songbird manipulates you partily but she also did think she could cure you and at the very least she helps a very desperate vi in upgrading the relic so vi doesnt come up empty. she uses you as a pawn but i think many are forgetting that that is all she knows now, you either use or get used. V is probably one of the first to be genuinly nice to her. Just for example, Myers abused her, Reed was the one who got her into this shite, Alex just dosnt seem to like So Mi because of what she did for Myers and Reed last but not least Kurt betrayed her new Deal. If you look at all that she is surprisingly honest with you, like i would have lied so much more to V in her place put us even more alike etc.
Crazy how the best outcome is for V is to just say no thanks to the job 😅

I like all of them. Reed and especially Songbird are more fleshed out and with more nuance attached to their stories that’s why people are having stronger reactions to them

So Mi and Alex are lovely ones, Reed is respectable in a certain level, however he is not far more as a blind loyal soldier like takemura
I'm talking more about their role in the plot and their interactions with V. The characters in the base game were something incredible. Takemura's conversation in the construction site alone eats any other discussion or heart-to-heart convo V had ever had with anyone. Panam and her amazing characterization. Johnny and his incredible development. Even Rogue and her guilt. They're all better than Reed, Alex, or Som Mi, IMHHO. But I thought people might be talking about Reed and So Mi and Alex more now because PL just released a few months ago. Never realized people liked them more.

she is a very conflicting and compelling character.
She did turn on Reed yet it was Reed who offered her the FIA deal. She did blow off her friends, like her boyfriend, but she also accepted the FIA deal because they were making threats at her friends. She did down SF1 yet it was her who recruited V to extract Myers or any survivors out. She did lure V In with the cure yet it was her who unlocked the Relics hidden upgrades and the immense power multiplier it hid. She did string V along with the cure yet it was her who confessed to the reality at the very last second when she was completely defenseless and at his mercy. She did form a perma connection to the blackwall in cynosore yet it was her who stopped the murderbot from finishing V off and allowing him to reach her in the core. Finally in the obfuscated lore it was her who set Reed up in the train yet it was her who called the trauma team on him to save his life.

SoMi foolishly put herself in harm's way and that unfortunately brought Militech/NUSA to her door. It would have been better for her to have been flatlined than Reed making the choice to recruit her, because his choice to "coerce" her into recruitment into the FIA is what lead to her fate as a blackwall netrunner slave.

the original deal was not even about killing her. It was about her facing jail time after netwatch sniffed her out and maybe some vague collateral damage to her friends getting audited. Hell, considering her skill she might as well have just ended up being recruited by netwatch as a form of communal service
@ujbx If Reed wouldn't have recruited her, she might have avoided all the misery with FIA/NUSA but Netwatch I bet has a hidden agenda as well so who knows if that would have been better.
@@ujbx Netwatch doesn't really arrest people. They are extremely brutal and precise in eliminating potential threats to the Net. They absolutely would have flatlined her, and potentially her friends, if Reed didn't intervene. Nothing that Reed says implies it would only be jail time. I don't think So Mi would have ultimately decided to take the deal if her and her friends' lives weren't at risk. Of course, I bet the threat was written intentionally in a way that makes it vague.

This is how you can tell CDPR did an amazing job, because so many people are divided about equally valid points and emotions. I for one saved her my first playthru, mainly because I understood her fight/reasoning for survival and believed Jackie would have wanted me to save her. Gotta experience horror playthru the next go around and help her pass away. I hate Mayers and what her drive to gain an advantage did to everyone. Reed is a good dude other than his blinding loyalty and Alex deserves to retire.
You can kill myers indirectly if you don't run towards the wreckage. Somi will be, but she will probably survive somehow, because she surrendered to Hansen when V was already close to the president.
As a solo Nomad navigating the cesspool that is Night City where no one person or corp could be trusted I pegged being played by the NUSA & So Mi from the get. I wrestled with who i genuinely empathized with. Each mission teeter tottering me back & forth. By the killing moon i was left with trusting either Reed or Songbird. The moment Reed killed the twins in cold blood with no true justification was my come to jesus moment. What would stop him from doing me just like them? His dogmatic view on duty to country & countrymen would help him rationalize putting me in the dirt. Song while just as treacherous never had any other choice but to betray me. Up against it all alone with no allies being passed around as a bartering chip. I saw a little girl from new york begging for the one thing I’ve had the luxury of my whole life. Freedom. Maybe its the Rockerboy in me who saw everything he wish he was willing to do to stop Arasaka in this little girl or maybe me seeing myself as that gun ho nomad who thought he could rip off Arasaka with his once in a lifetime choom for a one way ticket to the Afterlife. We had a common struggle. I gave her the freedom no one else would. To my lack of better judgement.
For me the final choice was a dilemma of principle
Betray so mi: she constantly lied to me, dangled a cure in front of me like bait, has showed lack self control and betrayed everybody she ever known
Save so mi: she was my client so as a merc I felt obligated since I accepted the contract and I see my jobs through regardless of pay after accepting, she was used by Rosiland and the nusa government ever since she was a kid, she was a kindred spirit seeing her and my situation in the same vein, and I felt taking her cure would be the equivalent of Johnny forcibly taking over my body
I easily chose to save myself. She lied way too much. She should've just told the truth from the start, or at least told the truth during that moment you speak with her before the final mission
for me the cure dilemma was even simpler, without knowing what kind of monkey paw wish it actually turned out to be. Sounded like it was going to wipe out Johnny which means killing him. Only real cure for V might be one that allows them both to coexist or merge, not one taking the other out

@@JakeJupiter I do think people would have been way more forgiving towards her if she told the truth about the cure during that talk before Firestarter. I do think she was completely truthful at point except for the cure part. But, I also understand why she decided to lie anyway. She was extremely desperate, trained/groomed to be manipulative, and was likely afraid of you refusing to help her if she did tell the whole truth (which V would have every right to do so mind you). If you find her medical report, it's revealed that she likely has Avoidant Personality Disorder, which apparently results in extreme fear of rejection.
However, her desperation to live also justifies Vs who decide to prioritize their own life over hers, because she was doing the exact same to you. Me personally, my V was ultimately more selfless than selfish (even when he had every right to be selfish), and decided to help her to moon. Doing otherwise would have been a betrayal of himself imo. Also, he knew that he had other options of curing himself, so it wasn't entirely hopeless.

Its funny going into the dlc after beating the game fully i never really trusted songbird fully, to powerful of a netrunner with to say out of the blue i need your help so i always figured she was lying about something, but i couldnt turn her in to the nusa at the end, something bout being a lab rat for the rest of her life didnt sit right with me, especially cause myers didnt seem like the type to forgive, i hope she comes back in cyberpunk 2 cause id love to see what became of her and if she actually decided to believe in someone since it was me genuinely feeling bad for her and setting her free
there is alot theory about her coming in cyberpunk 2 one says she will come up with something to help v and cyberpunk 2 will start where v is living his 6 month life and so mi contacts saying she have cure for v just a theory not proven but so mi is legendary character existing just like alt spider murthy and bortmass so its not just end of this godly netrunner alot will come up

Someone theorized(with which I agree) that they may use her Netrunning prowess by mind controlling her like the Peralez family, and then proceeding to wrestle control from the mass drivers on Luna to establish dominance on the world stage for the AI legion. The ESA is currently the largest standing super-power in the Cyberpunk universe, and their LEO Mass Drivers are the primary sticking point of their arms and resources superiority. With them they're able to either deliver minerals to earth or use lunar rocks as high level destructive ordinance by firing them at cities. Now imagine instead of the Europeans it was the terrifying phantom beasts of cyberspace controlling said weapons, yeah.

in euro folklore blue eyes tends to reference blue eyed devil in stories. Poles certainly love to draw from local stories in their games. Like when you first meet Gaunter O'Dimm in witcher 3 its at midnight at a cross roads, which often is used as a meeting spot for summong the devil in fairy tales. Mr blue eyes might be Gaunter O'dimm of the cyberpunk world. Which means he will fufill your wish for sure, its just not the way you might want it or the price you will have to pay for it

This DLC eas so damn good. Didn't know who to trust until I took a step back and understood you trust no one. So Mi wanted to save herself. Therefore I looked at V and thought, "This V has slaughtered thousands to save their own lives, what would she say to me just to be free?" From that point on I let the story ride out. Songbird vs Meyers was the real story. Or "If we saw our story outside of our body whay would it look like?" It'd be this. And its unapologetic in its approach. There are no happy endings because there can't be. This world we play in is so void of hope that it's guaranteed that shit was gonna hit the fan at some point. I knew So Mi was truly out for herself so I sided with Reed to save myself. Through this I watched So Mi as she was turned into Songbird and how devoid of herself she was. If they brought her back ... There would be nothing left. A mass effect husk doing the bidding of the Harbinger, Meyers. In the last attempt to seek freedom. With feeling I can't fathom I let her rest. I paused the game right before Reed got there and verbally said "There had to be another way." The other ending make sense but this one felt correct. Given the circumstances we're in as V. Could you show humanity in a world where there is none?
[Oh and for that moon ending I have no doubt that the black wall trch and stuff was removed. But I also believe she was extingushed as well. There is no way she would be kept after removing such a powerful "artifact" from her grasp. If she spoke about it at all the Cynosure project, NUSA, dog towns intricacies etc. she'd be hunted to the ends of the earth. Meaning in that ending there is no way she survies and contacts V. Thats still to happy for a world as plauged as this. I just can't buy it.]
They might as well have treated it with something like Soulkiller. They have the knowledge that Somi had and that's why you get a tuner when you're done. It looks a bit like a plot, but if she really survived on the moon, letting go of such a powerful weapon from her hands. Blue eyes is either a game charger or a regular proxy on AI services. When you have a canto or an erebus, you hear that these AIs want the extinction of humanity, and you use it in exchange for data from our world. What you experience. It would be at the very bottom of the iceberg, that's how dark it is. The safest ending is to kill Somi. She is angry with us, but she forgives us for our lack of trust and our betrayal, and saves us instead of letting the robot finish us off in the switchboard. Perhaps humanity gains another day of normality because this AI showed the entrance in the bunker itself. Alt herself is something of an AI and stops the arasaki assault on the mikoshi at the end of the game, so you have a strange peace of mind that nothing is chasing you at the end.
Just imagine if we ended up meeting Songbird in the Cyberpunk sequel

@@sourrfacedof you do the Star ending with the Aldecados and take Alt into Arasaka, Alt kills at least everybody in the basement with you, including janitors, people trying to escape in their cars, people running out of the building, etc. Possibly way more than the people just on your floor, too.

Honestly, I loved the story with So Mi, but I feel like it was a huge waste of potential to tie her into Alt. There should have been a meeting between So Mi and Alt somewhere before you choose between Reed and So Mi that gave you an option to send her beyond the Blackwall with Alt. Thats where i thought the story would go before the 'choice' happened. Hell, i would have even taken her going to Alt, coming back from beyond the Black all Cyberpsyco and being a massive villain you had to defeat to keep the wall closed. 🤘🏻 She was a great character though, if underused in her potential.
If you go down Reed's route and choose the Star ending, you can actually bring up the events of Phantom Liberty with Alt, who shows that she was keeping a close eye on what was happening throughout the event of Phantom Liberty. But yeah, it does seem like a wasted opportunity.
Great information about So Mi! Her life was miserable! She wanted a lot but lost everything. I did the right choice to pull the cord and let her be free and not a puppet of the NUSA. I just wish I could have made Myers life a living hell! R.I.P So Mi!

I mean imagine you have only 14 days left to live because of an illness and someone says “ I have the same thing help me and I will help both of us” and gives you 13 days job. Replaying the DLC for the 2nd time, still didn't decide either kill her or send her to the moon yet 😢😢 the story legit made me emotional in the 1st play-throught😢

Songbird is like the best character ever. The way you still feel protective of her even after she has betrayed you and everybody else is just epic storytelling. Besides being a walking WMD and an uncanny valley robot girl.
tried to figure out why that is myself. Aside from her being pretty IMO its also because she aint a pure cut black sociopath character. She does harbor genuine emotions, like betrayal or guilt, while also trying to be fair in her own way to those she wronged at the end of the path. Textbook example of grey duality
@@ujbx Exactly, she is a very deep, complex, and ultimately human character, and I think that speaks well to her writing. In fact, all the characters in Phantom Liberty are. If Songbird truly was a manipulative sociopath with no absolutely no regard for others, she wouldn't feel such intense regret for what she did to Reed 7 years later. She also would have never have admitted to lying to V when she was right at the finish line, leaving herself completely vulnerable to a potentially vindictive V. She is a deeply hurt and flawed person who I think deep down is the kind of person who wants to change for the better (this is evidenced by the fact that she ends up confessing to V at her most vulnerable point out of extreme guilt) but ultimately feels like she has no other choice than to be manipulative and selfish, all in order to survive. That is how she was taught groomed to be for most of her adult life.
In that kind of situtation I can't really blame her. It's still really shitty what she did and she is absolutely not a good person (I think she has the capacity to become one eventually) but I understand why she did it. V can make very similar choices to hers depending on the ending he chooses.
Only issue is if you want to find out alot of her past you have to play cat and mouse with a robot

I sided with So Mi all the way. Poor thing was forced into being a weapon for a deranged woman and was slowly being overtaken by forces that terrified her from beyond the Blackwall. Reed was an unavoidable casualty not even knowing that myers forced so mi to betray him so he’s still loyal to the NUSA like a blind puppy. I liked him, but he deserved to die more than So Mi.
So I sent her to the moon, even if it meant my V also has to die (though in my ending, I let Johnny take my body and venture beyond the Blackwall with Alt because my V is also a net running god, or I go through Arasaka alone and then go on to the space mission).
makes me wonder what would be more canon to do as V; side w so mi or reed. help a doomed dying person just like v to finally be free and healed or be basically corpo scum for the president.. clear to me what the choice would be. even if i wasn’t v i would always side w so mi and never the president
v as character is more likely forgiving and non corpo or gov guy cuz if u side with so mi v's word will be forgiving and helping on the other side helping president v's words will be more for survival. V is not that selfish for living v accepts fate so with these we can say v will help so mi sacrificing own self

On my first playthru without spoilers I was on so mi side until reed broke down his observations at the bar right before the gambling with the French twins. From then on I played along with reed n trusted him to help me and so mi. Jeez this outcome is like a bad dream but at least I think so mi is alive and I’m also a bachelor again after a 🤬 coma. Only friend in nc so far is vic. Smh I miss Jonny n judy n panam. V caught some major Major Ls on this run.

When the Rogue AIs finally invade it will be because the Blackwall itself has thrown in with them, corrupted from it's noble purpose by people seeking power in places they should never have gone...
don’t blame so mi blame the president. she’s the one who groomed and made so mi do all that. and before u say she had a choice; if the choice is netwatch killing her, her family and friends (as stated in the game and this video) is it really a choice? if she hadn’t accepted reeds offer he would’ve needed to kill her either way.
@@aleeeeeeexoxo, I DO blame the president and also Militech for poking the bear earlier. They were messing with this stuff even before the Datakrash. So Mi is an unwilling pawn in this game but she got mixed up in this business by doing dumb stuff and bringing attention to herself.

V/Johnny hated slavery more than death. Specifically slavery to corps. So when they saw So Mi living as a slave to the NUSA, they promised to free her at all cost, even if both V and Johnny would die. Cause at the end fucking over corps was the point.

After going through the dlc twice, doing endings 5 times, I get shivers that behind this corner of a happy start there was a kneeling reed with a hole in his head. Reed had to die for what he was (I personally didn't like him very much, because I knew about his manipulation and that it wasn't Somi who counted here, but the fulfillment of orders), but this makes it better to live in ignorance than to live knowing everything.

Hi. I just finish for first time Cyberpunk 2077 with the Phantom Liberty DLC, withouy joking or anything else, I started to cry for one one and i still am right now, cause all that feelings feels real to me even if is only a spy-game. I hate R.Myers. Reed, FIA, and all their bull..it lies, I cry'd when So-Mi died cause is same feeling when i lost my gf/fiance cause of skin cancer, i cry'd cause V is not able to use cyberware and anything like this anymore, I dont know why but i have that feeling i will not be alive when 2077 will come😢
I don’t particularly like Songbird. But I also don’t want to just toss her back to Myers. I’ll let her die at the Cynosure centre so she finally gets some peace. This video helped me finally make my decision. I’m not at all okay with the lies and multiple betrayals, and using V to get what she wants. But because I also don’t feel like going back to Myers is a good idea. Myers essentially turned So Mi into the rat she is so sending her back into that hell gives the Blackwall over to Myers and So Mi goes even more crazy. Death will be peaceful So Mi, I promise.

I haven't made it this far yet i haven't gotten very far I'm not your typical cryberpunker i play every once in awhile but i truly can't believe how they came back from launch the game from what I've played is pretty damn good lol it really is i enjoy it but i don't have much time on my hands like I can't sit for hours everyday and play it i really wish i could i think cyberpunk when it gives you choices to make those choices are very important and impact the game

It honestly depends on how you think or are playing V. Are you an empathetic person who is ultimately more selfless than selfish or don't trust Reed? Then side with Songbird. Are you a more self serving person who is trying to survive no matter what or don't trust Songbird? Then side with Reed.
Song So Mi has no goals. No ambitions, no hopes or dreams greater than surviving to tomorrow. She is essentially a natural attack dog. So long as you can threaten her, you control her. Someone like that with that amount of power is a threat to all humanity.
