That's why for me Rooney is better than even Henry. The grit, the determination. Didn't know when he was beaten. If you go to war you want men like Wayne, Roy and Nemanja with you.
Rooney was an absolute gem one of the best all round players. He scored a club record of 253 goals a tally that no doubt would've been far higher had he been more selfish but that wasn't Rooney. He was always a team player often playing out of position to accommodate others. His winning mentality, work rate, desire, will to win, selflessness etc he was incredible. One of our greatest ever players. One of a kind totally fearless
If anyone who questions his status as a legend, He ELBOWED Pepe in a friendly match. And made us feel like Pepe was nothing. " He was the one who you would sent to kill the flippin Boogeyman." - Local man about Wayne Rooney
My favourite Manchester United player of all time and my favourite player ever to play the game. His anger fueled him to reach levels that most players can dream of. At one point he was better than Ronaldo but we all know what happened post 2006 World Cup but Rooney was scoring goals and making assists when he was needed. That volley against Newcastle, the overhead kick in the Manchester Derby and his half way goal against West Ham isn't by accident. Yes his last 3 years at Manchester United was extremely painful due to him declining before turning 30 but he still pops up with goals and him becoming our all time top scorer is a testament of how great Wayne Rooney was at Manchester United. We'll never see a player like Wayne Rooney ever again.
Excellent video and tribute. That's what I loved about Rooney. I know I speak for many united fans who grew up in the peak Rooney era when I say that he is what we refer to when we say the United "identity." He fought every game to the death. He could never walk on the pitch when we are 1-0 down. He literally led from the front and others followed suit. He is my choice for best United player ever.
I remember that bicycle kick he had against City. I was laying on my couch watching the game, and when he scored I remember jumping up like a wild man excited like a kid! Such great moments from one of the best to play the game. Glad he was a huge part of Manchester United. I hope he finds a spot and does well as a manager.
Brilliant video. He was the reason I started following manutd as a kid. First saw him in the 3-2 AC Milan UCL game where Kaka destroyed us. Already knew about Kaka but Rooney was a first for me. I immediately loved his energy. He developed into one of the most complete footballers, able to play so well in different positions. That versatility, for me, is what made him so invaluable to the team
People throw around the word "legend" very casually these days, but words like those should be reserved for special talents like Rooney. Cannot understate how much United have missed a Rooney like figure in that dressing room for so many seasons now
I remember first time seeing him, at 16 score that goal against seaman on his premier league debut, I immediately told my dad, man utd need to sign this player!!
Without a doubt Rooney was an absolute force to be reckoned with. Phenomenal player at his peak...there are not many English players of his calibre in modern day football. I just wish he had taken care of his body and carried on for another 3/4 years.
Dont care what anyone says he was workd class And he was rivaling messi with manutd vs barcelona champions league games that was the topic. Overall a dangerous player in any position and all world class goals even top penalties
Wayne was just a footballer, just like Scholes, all they cared for was football, not the media. Rooney, Scholes and Keane had the anger, that made them great footballers, yes sometimes they went over the line, but they were among the best in the world.
Best, Cantona, Beckham, Rooney... It was always us against the world, it will remain us against the world, but the question remains, United and United fans need to come out of this present rut, and be united again against the hungry wolves of media who, if let loose, will turn against our own.
If we observe Rooney's career from a broader perspective, it was an incredibly successful career: Winning everything at club level, being country's top scorer along with a lot of personal accolades. However, Considering Rooney's talent and how good he once was, he didn't live upto his potential. The last of the original Wayne Rooney was lost after the 08-09 season. Numbers suggest otherwise
See LegoHair and Pep are moaning about how hard it is for English teams to compete in Europe as they allow a week for their teams….. so basically shows that United would have beat Barca twice in the finals then yeah 👍🏻
Well done Sam! Never seen a better analysis of a great and complicated character Wayne Rooney. As fans we were able to see past his flaws and appreciate his Talent. I just wish we give the same energy to Mason Greenwood. Because that boy is a gem of a player. It's easy to be hypocritical but you never write-off any human being for one mistake especially if he/she hasn't killed anyone.
Back when players were men and let their anger show often risking a card granted but now they just play like crap then go onto the internet to have a cry instead.
Any decent sport psychologist couid have helped Rooney to perform at his best without all the negative effects of his anger. Football is still so backwards in terms of mental coaching.
All the best footballers come from feck all and nothing in there life /Pele/Maradonna/Best/ all came from nothing., the list goes on!!!!/Rooney is one of them., some of them make it some dont and some of the better players dont make it thats why there is a drive in a player that wants it
Wayne Rooney, one of the best footballers we'll ever see at Manchester United and the Premier League.
The best*

The man who made me fall in love with the sport and Manchester United. Thank you Wayne ❤️
Rooney always has and will be my all time favourite player. For one reason, the man had Heart!
Same bro. Same
Bald Rooney hit different, aggressive, fearlessly ruthless on goal, he was the epitome of what was expected of a man utd player.
This is lovely, please do more of this on our legends… Rooney is Legend!!!
Ive been a united fan since 1989. Rooney is our greatest player in my lifetime. He was Keane, Scholes & Van Nistelroy all wrapped up in 1 player
Cantona, Keane, Rooney. That's my United trinity. Men who didn't know when they were beaten.
That's why for me Rooney is better than even Henry.
The grit, the determination. Didn't know when he was beaten.
If you go to war you want men like Wayne, Roy and Nemanja with you.
exactly

Spot on, mate. He had no bad attributes at all.
Such characters dont come around anymore in the modern era..Worldclass and wears his heart on his sleeves.
Wayne Rooney's kind, ............. We'll never have again
The sound of old trafford on his debut vs fenerbahce will stay with me till the day i die, what a night!
He's the ONLY player I ever wanted SAF to sign, and a hattrick on his debut in the UCL just announced himself.
If anyone who questions his status as a legend, He ELBOWED Pepe in a friendly match. And made us feel like Pepe was nothing.

My fave 3 are Ronaldo R9, Henry and Rooney.
IMO R9 is the most amazing talent I've seen, Henry was my old prem favourite and then Rooney appeared.

The Newcastle volley is my favourite goal from my favourite player of all time.
This is beautiful Sam.. Really.. I've got goosebumps literally. Ugh.. Oh Sam and your content
Rooney is still such an underatted player, he very rarely gets mentioned for what he achieved for club and country.
Brilliant video.

Very good video Sam congratulation, Wayne Rooney deserves more praise from the United fans, amazing player.

great video mate keep it up
Favourite player of all time, no hesitation
Same. Never wanted to watch a game so much because of one player.
I remember first time seeing him, at 16 score that goal against seaman on his premier league debut, I immediately told my dad, man utd need to sign this player!!
If Rooney and Keane were together the answer is nuclear power
Rooney was a great buy for united. Great video Sam

Licha has a bit of that in him, you know🤔
Back when football was good
They don’t em like Wayne Rooney anymore!!
If only our current players had the same passion and commitment that Rooney had.
Instead there a bunch of bottle job cowards
Back when players were men and let their anger show often risking a card granted but now they just play like crap then go onto the internet to have a cry instead.
Man utd best in the 2005 till he left man united
Wayne was my favourite United player ever!!!
Any decent sport psychologist couid have helped Rooney to perform at his best without all the negative effects of his anger. Football is still so backwards in terms of mental coaching.
