Hi, Mike! Thanks so much for all your very informative videos concerning Rinnai maintenance procedures. You have greatly helped me to get out of my comfort zone which was electric or gas tank-style water heaters and become more comfortable with operation & maintenance of gas tankless heaters. I have been doing all the maintenance on my 4-year-old V65i and just recently removed the Fan to check for debris - currently having no problems. To my amazement it was clean & shiny as were the plenum and Burner inlet orifice plate. My Ubbink ducting is about a 10 foot long horizontal run to an outside wall in the garage (professionally installed). So, I was wondering where all the debris must be collecting and noticed a video where you showed the top view of the Heater with concentric duct removed exposing several small holes in the fresh air intake plate. I would like to check for debris but can't get the Duct out all the way - outer plastic duct easily pulls up about an inch but the inner metal duct then seems to be hanging up. Can you provide any tips on what techniques I should use to access those intake holes? Thank you so much.
Hi Mike! Great videos, they have helped me a ton! I used 2” sch 40 pvc for exhaust out of my garage on my RU199iN. I’m getting a ton of vibration noise from the exhaust tube. If I take it off there is no vibration or sound. How can I mitigate this? What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

I'm getting two RU199in units and due to location will be going with 1 - common intake and 1- common vent so two pipes going through the exterior wall. After the header, it is a short run to the outside about 5 feet with some elbows. Spec sheet says can use 3", would you use 3" or bump to 4"? I do intend to put some sort of rodent barrier in the outside 45 degree elbow.

my horizontal exhaust/intake will exit the exterior wall about 9 feet above (almost directly above) the outside ac unit. Do you think the air from the fan of the AC unit will cause issues forcing air into the exhaust outlet? My only other option is remove old B-pipe and go out the roof BUT this will be a much more difficult installation. Great video, but now I'm confused. I have an old Rinnai condensing RC80HPi installed since 2011. It has a single white plastic (PVC?) 90 degree elbow between it and the wall it is mounted on, so I assume it's a concentric pipe. I'm replacing it with a newer condensing Rinnai and everyone is telling me I can't reuse that pipe and I need to use 2 separate PVC pipes? Sounds to me from your video I can actually reuse it and leave the second 2" pipe capped?

I am replacing my Rinnai Tankless Water Heater (non-condensing) with a new condensing unit. We live at 4300ft in central Oregon and have cold weather to deal with in the winter. Since I already have the non-condensing venting installed through the ceiling and out the side of our log house. Can I use the existing venting? I am going to vent the intake from the heated garage. Don't know if it makes a difference but the garage has an electric furnace and stays around 60-65 degrees even in the coldest winter days. I have ordered a new Rinnai RU199iP Condensing Tankless Hot Water Heater, 11 GPM, Propane, Indoor Installation to replace our old C85 unit that gave out after 18years.
Mike, for a Non-condensing RL75i, can I vent into a garage and then extend the exhaust pipe only to an outside release point? Using Schedule 40 to extend just the exhaust portion of the pipe? Thanks.
Since the venting install is the same for condensing and non condensing units (assuming you are concentric venting) why do plumbers always recommend condensing units? It’s just more work to install the condensate line.
My problem with horizontal vent coming out strait is that i am going to install the unit in my crawl space wich is at 4 feet high them when people walks near by the pipe will be caught by the exhaust gases . my question is this if i can install a ninety the grees elbow and turn it up has if is a roof vent thank you.

I'm replacing a continuum with a v series v94in natural gas .. both are concentric exhaust..I checked with rannai to find the closest replacement model to what was here.. obviously I'd like a more efficient model but for ease of installation / to use old venting and same gas line etc I decided to just go with the cheaper(400$) model..I know.. not cheaper in the long run .. but I don't have a drain super close either. My question is on the concentric exhaust.. how is it attached to the water heater? Is there any adhesive used..a gasket etc? The old unit is leaking and works once a day when I turn the water on to it.. it's 20 years old so I'm not just having it repaired.. is that a sound judgement in your experience?
Mike what dose a reu-v2520ffu use? Its old as in 2005 but the vent i purchased fallowing you video won't fit ontop on the water heater. The manual is very vague.
Does a non condensing unit do any damage right outside where it vents because it’s technically blowing out acidic gasses? (Where as a condensing unit collects this acid to be drained)

I have a RUR199iN that was installed in my garage and vented vertical through our roof and takes in fresh air via the garage area. The installer used 2 inch PVC all the way through the roof and looks like a candy cane coming out of our roof. Does this sound like a sufficient vent solution, or should we install one of the Rinnai Condensing termination roof kits as shown in your video?
i don't think my plumber knows what he is doing. i have the Rinnai V65IN model and he has 2 PVS pipes rough plumbed straight up through the roof. but they both are connected together just before going through the roof. none of the pipes are concentric.

THE TANKLESS KEEPS shutting down when the shower is running.my tankless unit is new and I have no problem with the faucets in kitchen or the vanity sink.i have good pressure in the shower.can anyone help

My engineer told be because of the extreme cold weather where I'm installing this water heater, I need to have my horizontal vent pipe slope to the unit not down and out. So, I have ordered the Vent kit with the plastic outside and the metal inside. That metal inside is ok for condensate?

@@AylaFenton I did order the vent piping from Rinnai which has exhaust and intake piping in one. I slightly slipped it towards the water heater. There is a condensate connection on the top of the water heater where I’ve connected a flexible tubing with a loop in the tubing to act as a trap. This has worked great for me, but I have a floor drain in that utility closet to allow the condensate to drain. Hope this helps

So I have a tank using a vertical vent shared with a nat gas furnace. How can I make this unit work with the Rinnai tankless but stil vent vertically?

No it will drain through the internal condensate trap.

You need a 224064 vent adaptor it’s around $50.00

No it does not the gas is only 3% that is expelled.

Yes you can just make sure when you end it the two pipes are at least 12” apart

Yes you can, if your going just up and out the two feet you can. Just remember to install the condensate drain off the top of the unit. Mike

sorry for the delayed response yes that sounds good as long as he sealed the roof penetration good. mike
