Great video. I use a Okuma Komodo SS273 7.3 gear ration. Paired with a major craft crostage 20-60g rod for SPJ in the bays in San Diego, Ca. So much easier.
@IdontcareJnoJon yeah good call I'm fine with calling it microjigging where it's under 30g. there's a few names to describe the different jig weights, on this trip I am lifting the jigging and dropping back down to get the flutter action, so it falls within slow pitch jigging to me.
Awesome intro mate very clear but straight into it. think I need to try slow pitch jigging with my baitcaster setup now. That was actually Jinny's favourite rod/reel setup to use when she started fishing eh!
Yeap baitcaster is not ideal but it will work to start with, the short comings I have are less lift and slower retrieve due to the slower ratio of my reel
Hey hi thanks , thanks for all your amazing fishing , jigging and slow fall fishing videos, I'm new to it , so your videos have all been very educational to me.., on thes video that you that you caught 33cm snapper on the rainbow color slow fall jig , what water depth were you fishing in , please ?., again thanks..
Hey there, i have a question about using a baitcaster for spj. Should i tighten the tension knob or let it be as loose as possible to get the best action in spj? I usually fish at depths of 60-120m using jigs ranging from 80-200g.
Hey Dave , love watching and learning spj details from each video brother!! Hey is that a leash tied to your rod butt? Million Likes to All your content !!
Hey mate, that's a tricky question, I think given the microjigs are so light (5g-25g) it doesn't matter too much the type of rod if you are not casting. Microjigs can be worked in many ways, bounce along the bottom, slow wind up, twitch it to imitate a baitfish. For me I would pick a softbait rod or a light slow pitch rod over a slow jig rod, but I think a slow jig rod would work fine too if that's all you got
awesome video dave. got a baitcaster myself and hope to use it on the salt at some point. does urs have a clicker cause most baitcasters dont have that function which is a real shame
Thanks Peter, a baitcaster would be great for you to use on a kayak, fishing microjigs vertically would be ideal. Yes this one has a clicker, I try to make sure I only buy baitcasters with the exciting drag sound now
@@FishoDavo ive got the curado dc so that will help me with the casting. i do like those clickers especially wen ur trolling and nek minute reel screams like hell haha
I was just wondering when you would release another video them bam! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon!
Thanks bro! glad the timing worked for you, been editing this one for a few days now :)
@@FishoDavo nice work bro, hopefully our timing can work soon for a fish!
Fantastic video david. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Team!!

Thanks for watching, light SPJ is so much fun
If you use jigs 20-60g, you're not slow jigging. Especially with a baitcaster. Proabably you're micro jigging0

good vid. I need to do more of this from my kayak.
Thanks!

Thanks bro, everyone loves using their baitcaster, it's just a pleasure to use
@@FishoDavo nothing like a good rod for added pleasure eh 👌
this is what i want to try micro jigging using my kk royale legend II 200 baitcast reel since i cant afford to buy jigging/trolling reel, thanks mate

awesome finally new content :D
Thanks mate, I'll try and edit faster haha 😄

I have just subscribed,, your videos are so instructional ,,thanks
Thanks for subscribing and your kind comments, really happy that these vids have helped you. The depth is around 25m here in this video
AWESOME Dave love the learning and all the videos mate. If you ever do jetski fishing charters sign me up - I'll bring the wicked wings 😅
Thanks James, that sounds super tempting!!
@@FishoDavo What do you use for your rod tethers Dave - keen to use on my rods
@jamesetuale3728 hi James, I use the Rob Fort rod and kayak paddle tether/leash, brought from Marine Deals
Grate video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks mate! Yeap it's a rod leash, I'm scared of losing my setup if I drop it. It's the Rob Fort rod leash
Hey mate, had a good session with a micro jig the other day, do you know if a micro jig is more suited to a slow pitch or slow jig rod?

You'll have fun trolling bibbed diving lures in the future too, similar to how you were trolling a softbait
@@FishoDavo yea except not feeling too confident with 2 hooks flying around an angry snapper haha
@@BasicFishingNZ yup gotta use net and pliers when de-hooking. My cousin uses lures with 3 trebles from his kayak
Hae bro whens ur next video coming out??
Few new ones out now
can i use slow pitch jigging rod for light jigging rod?
Yup I do that
how many feet water do you fishing?
80 ft here
What does overhead, spin mean?
Overhead is overhead reel, spin is the egg beater style casting reel that sits under the rod
Great stuff, it would have benefited me to not see you catch so many and actually have to pitch more... I'm trying to learn the movement
Hey Nick, thanks for watching, I have 2 more videos on my channel that's focused on the rod movement, subscribe and check those out
