I'm currently playing through Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake over on our let's play channel, here - ua-cam.com/play/PLrKxLfXpG5cvo0DB4bwNpatO1F5Uh_sfc.html and we have a store here at cosmobunny.shop ! We hope you enjoyed the video and have a great day!
I think its more the new standard in gaming today, "Shits broken but release it anyway and we'll patch it" metality. The old standard where they release games that work but may have hidden glitches that can get patched is dead. The fact that Delta is delayed becasue they want it to work right away is music to my ears.
I’m looking forward to a Volume 1+2 collection that has all the post launch fixes on the disk so I can buy an offline version of the games that isn’t buggy/messy
With this specifically I guarantee Konami higher ups rushed it out because they were forced to pull the HD Collection for PS3/360 from storefronts because of historical footage they couldn't get renewed and had to end up replacing with new historical footage due to the company or companies just no longer existing. As far as the actual devs go I think it's very clear they care. They did a lot of things they didn't have to do but very clearly didn't have enough time. It's not a matter of laziness or not putting in the effort, it's just corporate greed.
When it launched with issues i think a lot of people just assumed Konami was doing a quick cash grab, Silent Hill 2 remake was going to end up being a mess from Bloober and there weren't a lot of hopes on the mgs3 remake. Now they've significantly improved this game, Bloober launched SH 2 really well to a lot of success and the MGS 3 Remake looks very good. Its a nice surprise.
Silent Hill 2 had me worried after Silent Hill A Short Message was received, it was free but I felt like these guys under Konami didn't understand what Silent Hill is.
I’m proud of the community for having the maturity not the jump on the hype train and express caution every step of the way. Then sing earned praises when the praise has been earned
It’s interesting that releasing a game unfinished could actually be more beneficial to public perception than releasing it completed because people perceive the fixes as “post launch content”
@@TheFloodFourmConsumer Stockholm Syndrome? "Consumer Protection?" What's that? Dont be cringe. We are happy to worship and give our money at the altar of the Brand.
I think that’s a factor, but extremely small and dwarfed by a bad launch product. For years or even decades to come people are going to look this game up and see that 90%+ of the discussion and reviews from the game are negative and talk about how low effort it is because they are from or near launch time. Very few people in 10 years or whatever are going to know this game got patched post launched and brought up to what their expectations would be. The fact is, especially for single player games, the launch product gets the most attention by leaps and bounds and kind of establishes the narrative forever. It’s the same thing with the GTA trilogy. Only a tiny fraction of people who know about it know it was patched to fix basically every issue people had with it.
Oh no is definitely a criticism against Konami, there’s no excuse for releasing an unfinished game specially when you ask full price for it, now on the hand Konami took action and fixed their mistakes and that should be mentioned as well.
I don't think Konami should get credit for fixing this collection. Imagine a situation where you buy a new car that ends up being a total lemon with many features not working or working worse than your 20 year old car. Then the dealership says "you gotta come in a few times over the next year and we'll keep fixing it until it's all good". And once they're done fixing it, your car works just as good as the 20 year old one. Are you gonna be ecstatic about what a great experience this was and praise the dealer? May I remind you that these games did not have to be developed. All the heavy lifting was already done by Kojima's team. All Konami did was put the games into a single package and charged the price of a brand new triple A game. To each their own, but I don't give someone credit for doing the bare minimum that they should've done initially. If it wasn't for the backlash, they probably wouldn't even bother fixing anything.
I guess I’m confused. I know you’d prefer it launched well and I would too, but you think that we should just not care that it was improved? All that really does is incentivize a lack of effort in general. That doesn’t make any sense. They should be held accountable for screwing up, but also people should be willing to say it’s a good thing that it’s in a better state than it was. That really should not be debatable.
@cathylickpriest7775 it's debatable. These don't even include the expansions. Quake 1 and 2 remaster has all expansions on all platforms plus online and mods. It's incomplete reguardless.
It’s honestly a shame that people are so stuck in whatever their viewpoint is nowadays that there’s just no room for discussion about this kind of stuff.
They should have done a full remake of metal gear solid 2. With the fixed camera angle's they could have done an amazing job with ray traced lighting and reflections and it would have ran on consoles and looked amazing.
I think the main thing that old versions did have over this was those mini games. They weren’t in the HD collection obviously, but it is a shame that they weren’t able to be brought up after the original release of two and three. Off the top of my head I know we lost a skateboarding mini game for two and I believe an ape escape one for three. Not the end of the world, but disappointing.
About the download code for MGS1 in legacy collection, I think it's worth to note that mine was from the wrong region. I had an european box with an european disk, but the code was for the US store. I had to figure this out by trying the code on different regional accounts, I have EU, China, JP, UK, US. This *could* be the reason he couldn't activate his.
If they decide to make a new MGS game, I would like to see it centered on Liquid Snake. Show him leading a group of, or going against a group of enemies in battles that that have only been hinted at in MGS1. I would also like to see a full remake of Ghost Babel. That was a pretty good story and set of villains. Or hell, make the Liquid story about those villains being his enemies or the crew he leads. That might be interesting. Although, change the dude that manipulates corpses, into him manipulating mannequins or something. Cool character, but just like they changed Psycho Mantis origin from being a serial killer, make that GB character more pliable too.
I think mgs2 and 3 are in a decent state. Mgs 1 needs a lot of love. Like, why not fix up the PC port or use Duckstation as the emulator? Really want 4K and no geometry Z fighting
I love the collection but they personally need to fix up mgs1 before I would, but if they could gives us twin snakes, fix up the GOG port, or use duckstation, until mgs1 is more fix I’m still going to hold off before I bother to buy it
Not including the expansions or multiplayer is criminal. Im not sure how gaming keeps messing up, but at least quake, tomb raider and soul reaver remasters are perfect.
It's the HD collection from the 360, rebranded I'm not buying the inferior version of MGS either they need to stop messing about and give us the superior Twin Snakes version.
it's better but still just an upscale and not really that much better. it's not running in native 4k or using a fancier upscaler like dlss or pssr. i wish it got a proper PS5 Pro patch
@Imadeyoumadlol I'm glad I'm not the only one! Ac!d was a blast I played it to death on the psp along with portable ops which I also hope they add to the collection eventually
Master Collection? Obviously someone is milking a very old series of games that quite frankly no longer hold the attention. MGS is dead and Koshima has moved on.

Pleasantly surprised at how much post-launch effort it got from Konami proper. Hopefully this is a good sign for volume 2.

I think you guys nailed it!, yes props to Konami for fixing this Collection but that isn’t excuse for their fuck up.
My wishlist for Volume 2 would be Peace Walker, 4, and Twin Snakes. It would be cool if Ghost Babel was the Bonus game.
I'd like a 3rd volume with AC!D 1 and 2 along with 5 and SurVive. I know people don't care about the last one but it would be neat. Same with MGO.
For the Twin Snakes you will have to buy a Nintendo console XD

It got defeneitly better with the patches. There are still some Missing effects and bugs in the Games.

Still don't know how they got MSG1 to look worse than the ps1 version. Sure it was pixelated, but not to that degree.
MGS1 still looks like trash unfortunately. No reason they can't have that game running at 4K easily

I appreciate the updates/fixes the master collection got, but a lot of the problems at launch were completely blown out of proportion.
I played thru the collection the it’s great but I wish that mgs1 twin snakes was in the collection instead of original mgs1
Hopefully it will be included in a later volume. They still have a lot of spin-offs and other stuff too that they could use.
I liked Twin Snakes and hope it comes in another volume at some point.
