I bet the bad reviews are the people who only played metro exodus. In the og metro games you are mostly underground, it's claustrophobic, dark and scary, mix that with literal monsters trying to eat you alive and the other factions that you are at war with also travel throughout the same tunnels as you are which is something you don't experience as much in exodus.
@wulfone5961 correction, just Doom 3. I know this since I played all the Doom games and 3 was my first. Doom 4, or 2016, can still be played like Eternal. Just don't max out the Ammo upgrades and "shocking" it plays like Doom Eternal minus the boost.
You can have ine for around $300 (Meta Quest 3S). It's OF COURSE not high end, but does the job pretty well. So probably your last phone was more expensive than a VR headset...
I love the Metro series. I've got 100% in every game and read the books. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Awakening. I did notice some flaws but I found that a lot of people were comparing Awakening to HL: Alyx and that's not not fair at all. Yes they are both atmospheric games but comparing this company and game to Valve is just...well, obvious. We need more story driven VR games and this game did exactly that. I hope we get DLC for this game, maybe more weapons and where you go to the surface. It is unlikely though. Another great video Jarek, keep it up.
@ninjabiatch101 it's a different publisher with a story that needs to go through or be written by the author Dimitri. It's not necessarily impossible but I wouldn't say it's likely...which is unfortunate.
@samsillis175 I suppose. But a lot of Deep Silvers DLC didn't really effect anything. And Arizona Sunshines DLC were just other random characters doing unrelated things. I'd be down with that. Lol
I was so confused and baffled about this game, I never heard of it ever coming out and yet I LOVE the metro games, it just seemingly came out of nowhere and had mixed reviews for seemingly... no real reason? What is going on with VR gaming nowadays lol
As a long time huge fan of metro series. This game is like a dream come true. I always thought metro was perfect fit for vr. Even on flat screen the game had vr af mechanics.
I really think the game has been done dirty. It's an 8/10 for me, might have been a 9 if it didn't repeat a lot of the common sins of VR games (slow, linear sections with nothing but a few interactions that would be utterly boring in a flatscreen game with no VR controls). But the story is great, the gun play and weapon handling beat 95% of VR shooters and the OST, SFX and voice acting is all great. Just an all round great game.
I mean to be fair it’s hard to make large environments in vr due to the limited mobility of the player and the risk of motion sickness from turning around all the time. that’s why the linear tight corridor environments are used so much
People need to stop comparing lower budget productions to half life alyx. I really liked metro, and i fully recommend people to play it. But if you compare every game to half life alyx, you'll ruin 90% of the lower budget, smaller studio productions for yourself, which there are a lot of, (with some really amazing ones) This is a good review though.
@Jarekthegamingdragon Yep. Not everything is AAA. I actually quite like the fact VR is mainly Indië and Single A studios. It gives it a lot of variety and character.
@@markasaur I played Half Life Alyx when I got my Valve Index and got pretty close to the end and still haven't finished it. Is it good? Yes, yes it is. Is it the best VR experience that's subjective. Personally I play more indie VR games and have a blast. I don't really trust AAA companies anymore after that disaster called Medal of Honor Above and Beyond.
@@markasaur Ahah good one, Alyx is still the best available VR title. Finished it 3 times and it never ceases to amaze. Playing in on Quest 3 with a 3090 at 120fps on Ultra is absolutely visually jaw dropping. The story is great, gameplay is fun and varied. There is no hype here, just a videogame done right.

I’m also completely stunned that this game has anything but “Very Positive”. I’m not sure I would give it the “Overwhemingly Postiive” but it’s definitely worthy of the tier right below it. It’s an EXCELLENT game.
So when that came out I was so excited. Of course I couldn't play it. I didn't have a VR headset recently. A couple of months ago I went to a friend's house and I played re4 in VR. That is some of the most fun I've had in gaming since I was young
I finally jumped onto VR for this, Metro is the perfect fit and actually think this is arguably the best story out of the games. Annoyingly had to use the teleport setting for motion sickness but hopefully will be able to replay once I!m more used to it. Definitely my favourite game I have played this year, would recommend, especially given the price is very good for a 10 hr game.
If you play vr with continuous motion every day til you start feeling sick, then take the headset off, eventually something clicks and you just don't get sick any more. It's an amazing feeling. Took me like 4 days of doing that only once a day.
One thing that helped me adjust to motion sickness is literally walking irl when I move in VR. Not moving forward in my room, but just making steps in place. Your brain is confused by movement without movement, and that helps a little. Feels silly, but hey it works.
@@nathanwatson7820 Stick turning in VR is what causes most people VR sickness, so don't do that. Physically turn you body to face the direction you want to go. And when moving forward only push the stick a tiny bit so you're moving slowly forward for a few seconds and then stop. Push forward / stop. So you're only moving in short slow little bursts. Keep doing that until you get used to the forward movement feeling. After a while it will become second nature and you can just keep the stick pressed forward as you zoom around.
I think the negative reviews are more about how VR was setback by standalone headsets. It brought graphics down as well as interactivity and scale. Since Quest hardware can't for example handle so many dynamic objects. Like most multi platform games you develop for the least common denominator.
But when you use the quest to play PC VR games it's irrelevant. You're just streaming to your headset anyway. Nothing about standalone that stops people from developing for pcvr.
When he mentions in the video about how it's amazing Half Life Alyx is able to look so good, most of that is because Alyx was made for PCVR only. Whereas Metro and most other games these days are multiplatform with Quest as the primary platform which greatly limits the graphics and also limits what's possible in the game play, too. Especially when the primary platform is also the least common denominator.
@@Vespyr_ It's technically possible for the PCVR version of the game to have much better graphics and game play, not limited by the limitations of Quest hardware. But this isn't what actually happens in practice. It's not practical for game studios to go so far with the PCVR port and fully utilize PCVR capabilities which are vastly greater than Quest 3. So what we end up getting are games primarily designed around Quest hardware limitations. And then the PCVR ports of them will have somewhat better graphics in terms of aspects that can just be turned on in the rendering engine without much development effort like better lighting modes. But any visual enhancements that would require significant work to implement usually aren't going to be utilized if they couldn't also be done on Quest. This is what's meant by the "Questification" of VR gaming. It's why older PCVR games from before the rise of Quest are still more beautiful and expansive than modern games despite how old they are and how much more primitive VR was in general at the time they were made.
The amount of immersive details in this game. Holy moly. This might be the time that I actually pull the trigger and buy myself a VR headset for the first time since I backed the Oculus Rift devkit Kickstarter.
I think the people who reviewed this poorly either never actually played Metro or they only played the open world Metro Exodus. This game had everything I loved about Metro 2033 in it, which is my favorite Metro but did it better. This is actually my favorite Metro game. This was the most horror feeling Metro, too. Just the dark tunnels and overall atmosphere kept me on edge from beginning to end. The survival scavenging gor every bullet and filter possible due to limited resources. The story was intriguing and kept me interested. The combat felt really good. It just was so much more immersive being inside that world, and the way they did the gas mask with the weight of the vr headset and the condensation that would get on the mask made me feel like I literally had a gas mask on. The little things that made Metro special felt even more special thanks to VR. The only Metro thing that wasn't in the game that I wish there was is the in between chapter journal writing part, where you hear the character writing on paper while the character reads what he's writing, but other than that the best Metro, imo.
This Xmas VR players are eating well. Between this, The amazing Batman title and Behemoth releasing soon. I'm glad i bought my Quest, The only title i wish would've come to VR instead of Flatscreen was that new Indiana jones title.
I've played every metro game on the hardest difficulty and awakening feels like them so it's really good. For the first vr version it did fantastic. Yes it could be better but I'm not gonna harshly critique the first one
1:37, just putting it out there, most of the background/secondary characters you hear in the game have very strong polish accents and for some reason it bothers me way too much than it should
I'm a very recent Metro fan, and now I'm obsessed with the series. This and Half Life Alyx and the main reason I wanna get VR for. Also Pavlov looks super fun!
I really enjoyed this game. It had a couple issues, and some story parts dragged on too long, but this is exactly what we need more of in VR. Straightforward, AA campaigns. But something I don't hear anyone talk about, is the fact that in less than12 Months.. Vertigo games released Arizona 2, Arizona Remake, and Metro Awakening.. I always hear ppl crap on their games as being subpar.. or nitpicking issues, but for story based, action shooters, they're doing amazing things for VR. Stoked to see what comes next
Can't believe I'm getting a Quest 3 this Christmas, I'm only 1 month away from experiencing games like Metro Awakening, Batman Arkham Shadows, Asgarths Wrath 2, Half Life Alyx, Arizona Sunshine Remake and Red Matter 1&2. Greatness awaits!
People hate on vr games but when they are good the immersion is just excellent going back to normal games feels like you are controlling a doll through a window
This game looks super cool! I've never played a metro game yet. But oh well... my 1070 pc with a Ryzen 1700x has proven to not do the best with most vr titles except for Compound (which I hope you cover some day!)
I have been playing this on psvr2. I love the metro series and this game is a great addition to the series. The atmosphere, music and story are all great. However I still find myself missing for the one thing that I seem to be missing in most VR games: dynamic environment. There are so many static objects and elements in the game that I find myself frustrated. Bring the possibility take a piece of wood and use it as a weapon or actual elements that break down when you shoot at them and this would have been the best game ever.
First two Metro games was partially inspired by first Half-Life game. Metro Awakening also was so it's also great game for first Half-Life fans. That's a main reason why it becomes my favorite VR game.
There are so many mechanics I missed out on on my playthrough, I never once wiped condensation of my face, and I didnt know I could shoot spiders off my face! Thats probably a good instinct to have, but Ill definitely be doing that next time
Halflife Alyx heavily relies on pre-rendered lighting. That´s why it looks so good, That and because it has a very good management on what needs to be calculated and what not. I don´t think, graphics are such an issue. They can be modded and patched if enough people ask for it. If the gameplay and story are alright, I guess it´s definitely worth it. Realistic graphics are obviously more important to the immersion in VR but not necessarily game-breaking. There are plenty of examples of very popular VR games with less realitic visuals as well.
Nope been in VR for nearly 10 years and I found it dull. Played through on hardest difficulty and died once so far and I am 12 hours in. Graphics and VR interactions are top notch though.
I'm currently playing it, justo got the AK and shared a few clips of me fighting nosalis to some Friends and they want desperately to play it. The inmersion is great and every gameplay looks really cinematic
This game did NOT deserve to get negative reviews that said this game isn't a real Metro game. Because it is a Metro game, even if it's just a spin-off for VR.
some of my favorite vr games. RE4VR, FNAF the help wanted duology, ancient dungeon and compound for rougelikes, arcade paradise VR, Metro awakening and into the radius, fucking contractors! also you can pull the spiders off your face.
You know people can dislike games my review score would be 6/10 too little action and too much time spent walking down the same corridors again and again, story is forgettable and characters pretty dull.
I played it on Quest 3 and loved it! But I do think its a hate or love game, I think many ppl think its gonna be bang bang shoot shoot every 30 seconds, but its more story driven and all those noises play with you, you hear something running and you think your gonna get attacked... but nothing... it just plays with you. I really enjoyed the game, and would have played it in one sitting if I didn't have other commitments.
I loved everything about the game, but no one talks about the AI. Instead of just "i see, i shoot" they act like people. They can see you but they will doubt themselves or turn on flashlights to search. If people are next to them they will talk to the other person and will search as a group. The big rats will try and get behind you. Small spiders will sit on your hands and you have to hit them off. Big Spiders will jump on your head and will turn your light off. What i didnt know until about 7 hours is in that you can grab and throw them at walls. The AI feels like people/monsters, they act like how you think they would. People doubt themselves, monsters can get scared by the big ass dude shooting things, and cultist act insane. Its so cool
a quest 3s is only $299. you can play standalone games and pcvr games on it with a link cable or virtual desktop. you also get batman: arkham shadow for free
I was pretty excited when I saw the trailer way back. Never played any of the og games. Going in blind. But here I am today. I was trying to decide whether to get behemoth or metro. Then you basically said if you have balls and like vr then it’s a must play. So I downloaded it last night and I am absolutely loving it. Thanks man
Bought the game this morning on Steam to use with my quest 3. Despite having several technical issues with steam link, for example, the video feed cutting out whenever entering a load zone. And then, after all, that was fixed a couple hours in, and the sound decided to stop working. But that couple hours I did play was absolutely fantastic.
14:01 I almost fell out of my chair. F#$%. That. As an arachnophobe who sits on the line between absolute horror and bizarre fascination with the little scuttlers, I am so tempted to get a set and buy this game. *Shudders*
I have never played a Metro game before so this is my first introduction to it. I found the stealth sections absolutely tedious and very annoying just hoping that the next door would take me out of the gameplay loop. Fortunately, there is a variety of gameplay and I enjoy the other sections a lot. I also love that the game gets you to walk through the Metro and just eavesdrop on people, it's a really good way to do world building. It is cheaper than a full price flat screen game and I think it is priced appropriately for the experience that you receive.
I 2nd what Jarek said. I've seem some gameplay of others playing (after I experienced those parts myself first) and see many people try and go mostly stealth, and that was way different than me. I went in pretty guns blazing on most fights, and it worked out great. You don't have to do stealth on any of it. Give them hell! Lol
From the beginning, I've had issues with this game. Not only did my PC crash several times during gameplay (an i5 with an RTX 3080, plenty of RAM, and running from an SSD), but it also caused the CPU in my older i7 PC with a GTX 1080 to burn out. That alone was enough to frustrate me, but since it was an old PC, I moved the drives to my newer system. What really annoys me, though, is the random appearance and disappearance of the backpack, guns, and ammunition. Just now, I was standing in front of a door covered in spiderwebs. After killing all the attacking spiders, I wanted to grab the lighter-only to find that I couldn’t. The backpack was gone. Now I’m stuck. I have to stop playing and hope that when I restart the game, my backpack will reappear. Of course, that means I’ll have to fight through those annoying spiders all over again. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I’m going to post this everywhere I can find information about Metro Awakening. I can’t shake the feeling that someone isn’t taking my concerns seriously and is removing my posts-maybe because they’re too negative. Despite these issues, I like the game too much to stop playing. I just wish these problems would be resolved.
4:40 i wanted to get into VR but here in brazil it can cost 3x times my salary sometimes. i played VR in a Lan house is a nearby city and it is absolutely amazing
The game is great, and gives those 2033 (and Last Light) feelings. I loved those first two the most, though Exodus was fun as well. I frankly prefer the Metro "claustrophobic" feeling VS open world. That's what makes Metro special to me. :)
I think the negativity surrounding it mainly comes from the fact that 4A games filed a cease-and-desist lawsuit on an indie developer because of another VR game that is similar to their concept. A lot of people didn't like that so they review bombed not only Awakening but other Metro games as well.
People who play this on the quest 3(wich i also have) must play this on a psvr2 connected to a pc if they have one... The brightness off the searchlights etc feels real... and ofcourse the blacks(even witht the mura) its far more immersive on the psvr2... The game is a blast!
I'm about half way though or maybe a little more and i think the game is great! The graphics are probably the best I've seen on native quest 3...guns feel great...atmosphere and game sounds are on point and really immerse you in the world. Definitely recommended if you want a AAA horror survival shooter game!

Tbh I hate how everybody compares every New big VR title to HLA. Metro is a TRUE to the original series staying GREAT VR title, which has its own unique stuff as much as HLA has that makes it special Highly recommend if you like horror vr games

I’ve played every single Metro game several times. Awakening is a good game! I don’t like that they skipped out on weapon customization tho. I’d still prefer a vr port of the first Metro game 😅
You can actually practice and get through this! I also got really nauseous in VR at first but after a few days of playing, it got better. My brain just needed to get used to it. Best advice is, once you get nauseous, take a break and do not try to push through it. Take a break and come back when you're feeling better and you'll be able to stay in VR longer and longer until it's not a concern at all :)

Some day I will invest in a headset... but this is not that day. I have a lot of interest in VR, this is one of those games that really makes me want one, but I just don't feel comfortable in investing in it yet (life circumstances, etc). Maybe when VR is a little further along.

So the main complaint people have is that the Metro game takes too much time in a metro? Sounds like the devs did their job. Was considering buying this but the mixed reviews put me off of it and buy into the radius instead, but after watching the review I'll probably end up getting both!

Re4 vr was what blew my mind, looking down and seeing Leon’s gloves for the 1st time blew my mind

I finally jumped onto VR for this, Metro is the perfect fit and actually think this is arguably the best story out of the games.
Annoyingly had to use the teleport setting for motion sickness but hopefully will be able to replay once I!m more used to it.
Definitely my favourite game I have played this year, would recommend, especially given the price is very good for a 10 hr game.
If you play vr with continuous motion every day til you start feeling sick, then take the headset off, eventually something clicks and you just don't get sick any more. It's an amazing feeling. Took me like 4 days of doing that only once a day.

One thing that helped me adjust to motion sickness is literally walking irl when I move in VR.
Not moving forward in my room, but just making steps in place. Your brain is confused by movement without movement, and that helps a little. Feels silly, but hey it works.
@@nathanwatson7820 Stick turning in VR is what causes most people VR sickness, so don't do that. Physically turn you body to face the direction you want to go. And when moving forward only push the stick a tiny bit so you're moving slowly forward for a few seconds and then stop. Push forward / stop. So you're only moving in short slow little bursts. Keep doing that until you get used to the forward movement feeling. After a while it will become second nature and you can just keep the stick pressed forward as you zoom around.

I think the negative reviews are more about how VR was setback by standalone headsets. It brought graphics down as well as interactivity and scale. Since Quest hardware can't for example handle so many dynamic objects. Like most multi platform games you develop for the least common denominator.

But when you use the quest to play PC VR games it's irrelevant. You're just streaming to your headset anyway. Nothing about standalone that stops people from developing for pcvr.
When he mentions in the video about how it's amazing Half Life Alyx is able to look so good, most of that is because Alyx was made for PCVR only. Whereas Metro and most other games these days are multiplatform with Quest as the primary platform which greatly limits the graphics and also limits what's possible in the game play, too. Especially when the primary platform is also the least common denominator.
@@Vespyr_ It's technically possible for the PCVR version of the game to have much better graphics and game play, not limited by the limitations of Quest hardware. But this isn't what actually happens in practice. It's not practical for game studios to go so far with the PCVR port and fully utilize PCVR capabilities which are vastly greater than Quest 3.
So what we end up getting are games primarily designed around Quest hardware limitations. And then the PCVR ports of them will have somewhat better graphics in terms of aspects that can just be turned on in the rendering engine without much development effort like better lighting modes. But any visual enhancements that would require significant work to implement usually aren't going to be utilized if they couldn't also be done on Quest.
This is what's meant by the "Questification" of VR gaming. It's why older PCVR games from before the rise of Quest are still more beautiful and expansive than modern games despite how old they are and how much more primitive VR was in general at the time they were made.
The amount of immersive details in this game. Holy moly. This might be the time that I actually pull the trigger and buy myself a VR headset for the first time since I backed the Oculus Rift devkit Kickstarter.
I think the people who reviewed this poorly either never actually played Metro or they only played the open world Metro Exodus. This game had everything I loved about Metro 2033 in it, which is my favorite Metro but did it better. This is actually my favorite Metro game. This was the most horror feeling Metro, too. Just the dark tunnels and overall atmosphere kept me on edge from beginning to end. The survival scavenging gor every bullet and filter possible due to limited resources. The story was intriguing and kept me interested. The combat felt really good. It just was so much more immersive being inside that world, and the way they did the gas mask with the weight of the vr headset and the condensation that would get on the mask made me feel like I literally had a gas mask on. The little things that made Metro special felt even more special thanks to VR. The only Metro thing that wasn't in the game that I wish there was is the in between chapter journal writing part, where you hear the character writing on paper while the character reads what he's writing, but other than that the best Metro, imo.
Nah man this was an absolute goddamn banger from end to end. They got done dirty on the reviews, it's incredible.

Between this, The amazing Batman title and Behemoth releasing soon. I'm glad i bought my Quest, The only title i wish would've come to VR instead of Flatscreen was that new Indiana jones title.
I've played every metro game on the hardest difficulty and awakening feels like them so it's really good. For the first vr version it did fantastic. Yes it could be better but I'm not gonna harshly critique the first one
1:37, just putting it out there, most of the background/secondary characters you hear in the game have very strong polish accents and for some reason it bothers me way too much than it should
I'm a very recent Metro fan, and now I'm obsessed with the series. This and Half Life Alyx and the main reason I wanna get VR for. Also Pavlov looks super fun!
I really enjoyed this game. It had a couple issues, and some story parts dragged on too long, but this is exactly what we need more of in VR. Straightforward, AA campaigns.
But something I don't hear anyone talk about, is the fact that in less than12 Months.. Vertigo games released Arizona 2, Arizona Remake, and Metro Awakening.. I always hear ppl crap on their games as being subpar.. or nitpicking issues, but for story based, action shooters, they're doing amazing things for VR. Stoked to see what comes next
Can't believe I'm getting a Quest 3 this Christmas, I'm only 1 month away from experiencing games like Metro Awakening, Batman Arkham Shadows, Asgarths Wrath 2, Half Life Alyx, Arizona Sunshine Remake and Red Matter 1&2. Greatness awaits!
People hate on vr games but when they are good the immersion is just excellent going back to normal games feels like you are controlling a doll through a window

This game looks super cool! I've never played a metro game yet. But oh well... my 1070 pc with a Ryzen 1700x has proven to not do the best with most vr titles except for Compound (which I hope you cover some day!)

I have been playing this on psvr2. I love the metro series and this game is a great addition to the series. The atmosphere, music and story are all great. However I still find myself missing for the one thing that I seem to be missing in most VR games: dynamic environment. There are so many static objects and elements in the game that I find myself frustrated. Bring the possibility take a piece of wood and use it as a weapon or actual elements that break down when you shoot at them and this would have been the best game ever.

The charger should be on your offhand hip, as that isn't used otherwise. Makes it as easy as taking out your pistol.
Left hip is being used for your syringe to heal.
First two Metro games was partially inspired by first Half-Life game. Metro Awakening also was so it's also great game for first Half-Life fans. That's a main reason why it becomes my favorite VR game.

There are so many mechanics I missed out on on my playthrough, I never once wiped condensation of my face, and I didnt know I could shoot spiders off my face! Thats probably a good instinct to have, but Ill definitely be doing that next time
Halflife Alyx heavily relies on pre-rendered lighting. That´s why it looks so good, That and because it has a very good management on what needs to be calculated and what not.
I don´t think, graphics are such an issue. They can be modded and patched if enough people ask for it. If the gameplay and story are alright, I guess it´s definitely worth it. Realistic graphics are obviously more important to the immersion in VR but not necessarily game-breaking. There are plenty of examples of very popular VR games with less realitic visuals as well.

Nope been in VR for nearly 10 years and I found it dull. Played through on hardest difficulty and died once so far and I am 12 hours in. Graphics and VR interactions are top notch though.
I'm currently playing it, justo got the AK and shared a few clips of me fighting nosalis to some Friends and they want desperately to play it. The inmersion is great and every gameplay looks really cinematic
Partially the flat fan base review bombed it because it's a VR game...
And those types of reviews are the reason we don't get big vr games most of the time
When I booted up the game and heard the guitar, I knew it was gonna be a great time. Also needing to physically wipe your gas mask is awesome.
This game did NOT deserve to get negative reviews that said this game isn't a real Metro game.
Because it is a Metro game, even if it's just a spin-off for VR.

You know people can dislike games my review score would be 6/10 too little action and too much time spent walking down the same corridors again and again, story is forgettable and characters pretty dull.

I played it on Quest 3 and loved it! But I do think its a hate or love game, I think many ppl think its gonna be bang bang shoot shoot every 30 seconds, but its more story driven and all those noises play with you, you hear something running and you think your gonna get attacked... but nothing... it just plays with you. I really enjoyed the game, and would have played it in one sitting if I didn't have other commitments.
I loved everything about the game, but no one talks about the AI. Instead of just "i see, i shoot" they act like people. They can see you but they will doubt themselves or turn on flashlights to search. If people are next to them they will talk to the other person and will search as a group.
The big rats will try and get behind you.
Small spiders will sit on your hands and you have to hit them off.
Big Spiders will jump on your head and will turn your light off. What i didnt know until about 7 hours is in that you can grab and throw them at walls.
The AI feels like people/monsters, they act like how you think they would. People doubt themselves, monsters can get scared by the big ass dude shooting things, and cultist act insane. Its so cool
This game looks awesome! Let’s hope the upcoming Alien game will be a blast as well

I was pretty excited when I saw the trailer way back. Never played any of the og games. Going in blind. But here I am today. I was trying to decide whether to get behemoth or metro. Then you basically said if you have balls and like vr then it’s a must play. So I downloaded it last night and I am absolutely loving it. Thanks man
Bought the game this morning on Steam to use with my quest 3. Despite having several technical issues with steam link, for example, the video feed cutting out whenever entering a load zone. And then, after all, that was fixed a couple hours in, and the sound decided to stop working. But that couple hours I did play was absolutely fantastic.
this game is like the one game where the sound will matter lmfao
@truth7down I know I restarted Steam Link twice, and it still didn't want to stream the sound. So I gave up, and i'm gonna try again tomorrow

I have never played a Metro game before so this is my first introduction to it. I found the stealth sections absolutely tedious and very annoying just hoping that the next door would take me out of the gameplay loop. Fortunately, there is a variety of gameplay and I enjoy the other sections a lot. I also love that the game gets you to walk through the Metro and just eavesdrop on people, it's a really good way to do world building. It is cheaper than a full price flat screen game and I think it is priced appropriately for the experience that you receive.
You don't need to stealth. You can just shoot every thing. That's what I did lol

I 2nd what Jarek said. I've seem some gameplay of others playing (after I experienced those parts myself first) and see many people try and go mostly stealth, and that was way different than me. I went in pretty guns blazing on most fights, and it worked out great. You don't have to do stealth on any of it. Give them hell! Lol

Got to give you some props. I loved Halo ODST. That game should have gotten more praise. Probably my favorite in the Halo series lol
From the beginning, I've had issues with this game. Not only did my PC crash several times during gameplay (an i5 with an RTX 3080, plenty of RAM, and running from an SSD), but it also caused the CPU in my older i7 PC with a GTX 1080 to burn out. That alone was enough to frustrate me, but since it was an old PC, I moved the drives to my newer system.
What really annoys me, though, is the random appearance and disappearance of the backpack, guns, and ammunition. Just now, I was standing in front of a door covered in spiderwebs. After killing all the attacking spiders, I wanted to grab the lighter-only to find that I couldn’t. The backpack was gone. Now I’m stuck. I have to stop playing and hope that when I restart the game, my backpack will reappear. Of course, that means I’ll have to fight through those annoying spiders all over again.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I’m going to post this everywhere I can find information about Metro Awakening. I can’t shake the feeling that someone isn’t taking my concerns seriously and is removing my posts-maybe because they’re too negative.
Despite these issues, I like the game too much to stop playing. I just wish these problems would be resolved.

if its available the meta quest 3s should be one of the best and cheapest options
I played about an hour of it, it's fantastic, only complaint is they reuse character assets,its noticable. other than that ,only played an hr but 👍
The game is great, and gives those 2033 (and Last Light) feelings. I loved those first two the most, though Exodus was fun as well. I frankly prefer the Metro "claustrophobic" feeling VS open world. That's what makes Metro special to me. :)
I think the negativity surrounding it mainly comes from the fact that 4A games filed a cease-and-desist lawsuit on an indie developer because of another VR game that is similar to their concept.
A lot of people didn't like that so they review bombed not only Awakening but other Metro games as well.

People who play this on the quest 3(wich i also have) must play this on a psvr2 connected to a pc if they have one... The brightness off the searchlights etc feels real... and ofcourse the blacks(even witht the mura) its far more immersive on the psvr2... The game is a blast!
I'm about half way though or maybe a little more and i think the game is great! The graphics are probably the best I've seen on native quest 3...guns feel great...atmosphere and game sounds are on point and really immerse you in the world. Definitely recommended if you want a AAA horror survival shooter game!
Not to mention u can replace ur TV/monitor with a headset
I can attest this game is incredible. I believe some of the bad reviews are from people who never played any of the Metro games. People complaining about the dialogue and story smh. That makes the damn game incredible.

Tbh I hate how everybody compares every New big VR title to HLA. Metro is a TRUE to the original series staying GREAT VR title, which has its own unique stuff as much as HLA has that makes it special

You can actually practice and get through this! I also got really nauseous in VR at first but after a few days of playing, it got better. My brain just needed to get used to it. Best advice is, once you get nauseous, take a break and do not try to push through it. Take a break and come back when you're feeling better and you'll be able to stay in VR longer and longer until it's not a concern at all :)

Some day I will invest in a headset... but this is not that day.
I have a lot of interest in VR, this is one of those games that really makes me want one, but I just don't feel comfortable in investing in it yet (life circumstances, etc). Maybe when VR is a little further along.
