That chiseled square jaw is only surpassed by Ancient Greek Sculptures. What ever he did in his career he definitely left behind a string of the worlds most beautiful women that never stopped loving him. He must have been talented at something because Ursula,Linda,and Bo always had nothing but good things to say about him!
As for him being a POS over being a bad parent. I would like your kids review of you, that is if you have kids. As for the rest of us parents, we all fall miserably short.
John Derek's sporadically famous movie career has always been a 'puzzle' to me! Somewhat similar to Tyrone Power in looks, build & charisma, but possibly not the 'drive' to become a 'superstar', his troubled private life & divided income may have prevented it! Her was blessed with being with some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, but failed as a husband & father!
The children weren't troublesome, he was unwilling to be a father, pay alimony, and I suspect, child support. He neglected his kids for years and they came to resent him
Just watched a really sad interview with Johnny Carson and Bo Derek..a very old one. She was married to John Derek and she said he would criticize her looks all the time and tell her she ate too much and needed to lose weight even though she was like less than 100 pounds!
What's that old but appropriate saying? Oh yeah-beauty is only skin deep. He was a failed actor. A failed husband. A failed father. But when you look that way, you can get away with a lot.
What a freaking MESS! From beginning to middle to end, what was wrong with this picture? Hint: some missing smoke that should have been in substitution for it or, at least, half-way? Perhaps that would have acted to ameliorate some or fully, this horror show that was to manifest. The man was fatally unsettled in almost every way. On-the-contrary for example, Brando made an unhidden success of his dualité de l'amour but this guy, who knows what forced such disaster following disaster, as was left unlearnt, that way-better might have been? I've no further words here; just felt sadness.

As a child, I recall seeing him in The Ten Commandments. Although I was less than ten years old, he stood out..
