What ever floats your boat, I always found that having a beer of two with expat locals was the way to find the best deals in accomodation as they live there and get all the ins and outs of it and the best bargains along the strip.
I had a friend who give up his business here in the uk for Thailand, he had met a girl on holiday come back and decided his life was there. Sold the lot and moved out. 6 months later he was back and on my sofa with not a bean to rub together. I wish you the best but be careful, visiting is one thing, making a life is another.
You are spot on in what you say, many people are so naive when it comes to Thailand & a lot of people there are masters of extracting money from foreigners. What starts off has a dream can soon become a nightmare I've seen it so many times.
@ it was really sad. He went on holiday, met a girl, come back was sending money back to her, decided he wanted to be with her, sold everything and went out. The moment he got there, the girl completely changed and was not interested in him. 6 months later he was back and on my sofa! Sadly we had a massive bust up and we ain’t spoke since. Everyone said to him it was going to end in tears. Personally I was fond of him, he was my mate and I just wanted him to be happy but the moral of the story is, you can buy love, you can’t buy happiness! When I think of what he had, Thailand destroyed him. Thanks for the reply!
@@SamM-oh2cx Sorry for your mate story it can be heart breaking, I've seen men destroyed thinking they have found love often after being lonely & there are some women out there that prey on people feeling's. Thailand is a beautiful place with many nice people & a lot to offer but like everywhere you need to stay alert & stay away from potential scammers. Correct. Things like the distance to local Markets and amenities, the direction of the sun are all super important. As are the service charge costs and the price of running the aircon. But of course Westerners moving to hot countries don’t initially think of these things.
@ Hi Darren, I’ve been following your channel for a long time now and I’m continuing follow your Thailand journey. I’m just wondering have you watched “retired and living the dream” if not you could have a look and maybe contact him for help and advice. Hope everything works out for you Darren 👍
You seem like a lovely bloke but anyone who's a long term expat in Thailand will agree you should watch what you spend. If you had a few hundred thousand £ sat in a bank then sure, splash out for 6 months then when half is gone you'll have learnt the lessons Thailand has in store for you but still have enough to make it work. But from watching your previous videos it seems you're on a limited budget. It'll be gone in no time if you're not careful. No need to rush. This may sound harsh, but its like watching a lamb hop, skipping and jumping to the slaughter.
Best of luck Darren but beware sweet talking Thai women , I know of someone who has been well and truly stitched up , I know ‘it will never happen to me ‘ so make sure it doesn’t . He has lost £80,000 on business’s/bars and they have disappeared etc .
Whatever you get I'll probably be cheaper than renting in a slum in England surrounded by heathens. So good luck to you mate and continue doing what makes you happy. Life is short..
Worked abroad all my life, both single and married status. Most important for me was the house/villa/apartment. After a hard shift, the last thing you need is to return to a dump, albeit a cheap dump. Plus weekends in a dump is no fun. So I always spent all of my housing allowance, others saved money but lived poorly - their choice, not mine. Guess who were the ones who couldn’t hack it and reneged on their contracts
Seem like you're rushing in to thing's without fully researching. Example you made an offer on a condo before even seeing all the condo's this elite properties were going to show you in a day. From watching you I get the impression you are impatient & happy to take the 1st deal that comes around which is 100% not the best way to go about it. You said this is a total change of life for you so my advice is there is no rush there are an abundant amount of real estate agents in Pattaya & by jumping in early you have definitely not got the best deal or dire I say it the best place for your money. By what you're saying I don't think you are looking for a budget place so you would have plenty of options. You should have settled in & used your 1st month to research the place properly before pulling the trigger on your full time condo. Once you've been there a few month I think you will realise your impatience has cost you. My advice is you're starting a new life so slow down & just see were thing's go it will work out much better for you. When you look in a rush & desperate for a place that's when you're taken advantage of.
@@conthrust not a know it all just someone looking at this guys situation logically, from the way you sound seems like you are a bitter person & probably the type who would not take advice, what I said was perfectly logical & could save this guy money moving forward. Look for a condo on the top floor or you might get noisy neighbours above you. Our son bought a condo in Vancouver and had renters with small kids above his condo. It was a nightmare. It sounded like a bowling alley above him.

Hi Darren, new sub here. Been binge watching your videos. Absolutely loving them. Good luck on your new life adventure. You look so happy. Love and best wishes xx
Well done, I would have said slow down a bit, take a look at the bigger sized older building doo, but then I feel for me a very small mistake was committing to a year in a modern 36m2 1 bed. Info. 3reasons, one is sound proofing second is the size, yes it’s enough for me but I feel a bit cooped up now, lastly some condo blocks have a huge issue with daily rentals which as a resident can be really annoying due to noise My next step is to look for a bigger older style condo or even a small villa next 👍

Good for you Darren....Nice one👍🏻
Well done, I would have said slow down a bit, take a look at the bigger sized older building doo, but then I feel for me a very small mistake was committing to a year in a modern 36m2 1 bed. Info. 3reasons, one is sound proofing second is the size, yes it’s enough for me but I feel a bit cooped up now, lastly some condo blocks have a huge issue with daily rentals which as a resident can be really annoying due to noise
My next step is to look for a bigger older style condo or even a small villa next 👍
