MusiCares is fantastic resource. They help so many people who thought they would never get their help. In fact, they are the ones who got Isbell into treatment and paid for it.

Dude as an Austin native I can’t tell you how happy this made me. We used to see this guy live at every opportunity and he never ever failed to put on an incredible show. It’s a shame this dude isn’t world famous. But no one who’s ever seen him has forgotten it.

One amazing thing about Monte is that his first song of the night blows you away and it only gets better as the night goes on. Two hours of jaw dropping guitar.

His version of Little Wing is a sight to behold as well. He's unbelievable.

Festival International, Lafayette, LA 2002. I'm walking from one venue to the next and I hear Knopfler's Romeo and Juliet. I ease in close to the stage to see a guy in shorts sitting on the edge of the stage, nailing it. I mean perfect. After 3-4 just killer tunes, I notice standing in front of me, is none other than the bass player for Spinal Tap. Yep, Harry Shearer lol Just after this tune (encore), he turns and our eyes meet and we both just shake our heads and smile. I've seen Monte 7-8 times now. Stunning every time. And it's funny, a Monte show is like a Sonny Landreth show, in that there is always a row of open mouthed, guitar players on the front row, looking at each other, smiling, and shaking their heads... lol

I had the incredible fortune to open up for Monte Montgomery about 18 years ago. I was absolutely mesmerized the entire time. He was a really cool, down-to-earth guy. Not many main attractions watch the opening act, but he did, and even commented on a couple of my songs, citing lyrics as well as musical ideas, so he was REALLY listening. Thanks for this!!

Watched this when it first aired in April of 99. Sat there stunned for a half hour straight. We were fortunate to see Monte many times in many venues when he started touring nationally a year or so after this.

Monte Montgomery is an astonishing, underrated musician. His guitar playing is unique and unmistakable. I discovered Monte while visiting Ireland of all places. I know he's been playing since the 80s and originates from Alabama. A wonderful musician who deserves all the accolades for his talents. Keep on rocking us Monte! God bless 🙏👊🏼💪🏼🇺🇸

My God have I been waiting for you to discover this dude. If you want a perfect blend of his mastery of guitar and vocals check out his cover of Sara Smile. There’s a reason Daryl Hall brought him to play at his house and then opted to let him take the lead on his hit song

Welcome to the ever so amazing, addictive, and inspiring world of the one and only Monte Montgomery. Hands down one of the best acoustic live performers in the music world today. Good enough to share the stage with Tommy Emmanuel and has on occasion. Check out Monte's live versions of Little Wing, and his Dire Straits cover of Romeo and Juliet. They are equally phenomenal as well. I've seen him live so many times in and around the Houston area and have been blown away each and every show. Also if you're a fan of Tim Allen's comedy show Last Man standing, those fancy guitar licks you hear throughout the show are all Monte as well. That's fancy bass player is Chris Maresh who also plays for the one and only Eric Johnson out of Austin Texas. Thanks again Michael for giving some recognition to a classic Monte video. Hope to see you do another one of his soon.

He was named one of the "Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players" by Guitar Player Magazine and won the "Best Acoustic Guitar Player" Award at the Austin Chronicle's Austin Music Awards seven years in a row.

So great to see Monte get some props. I remember reading about him in Guitar Player and him saying "I have so much compression on the guitar, if I let go of it, it will explode" Thanks for another great video

I watched the 99 performance in about 2007 at my first job post college. Was watching UA-cam on my lunch break and it blew my mind. Without a doubt one of my all time favorite performances even all these years later.
