Hi summer, thanks so much for covering the show and spreading the word about LESCSS and NYCSS! it’s also surreal to see our plants in one of your videos :)
Cactus and succulents have always and will always be my # love! Thank you Summer for posting this, these strange and unusual beauties don't get as much attention as they deserve! These are incredible plants !
I don't even live in the US, but I think cactus and succulent societies have great potential to help connect people and share plants and knowledge, great to see a nice show organized outside of California :P
Love your channel so much. I don't always have time to watch all your content but when you do Cacti/Succulent videos, I definitely watch. I love these plants and he is right, so many varieties for everyone. Thank you for all you do for the plant world! We need more people like you.
I happen to love cacti and succulents so this video was a special treat! Nice to see so many young people excited about these plants. The interviews were inspiring, too. The mermectophile fern was especially interesting.
Lovely to see a thriving xerphytic adoring community! I will say the gentleman at the end gave me the ick with how he disregarded anything outside of medical school as 'non-scientific', ethnobotany is an extremely important field that laid the ground work for modern medicine and a lot of practises still hold their potency to this day, particularly in Native American cultures! But absolutely adore seeing anything Madagascan and Caudiciform; those two combined are always a treat!
Hi Summer, very interesting video, many thanks for covering and for sharing! As a huge fan, find it AWESOME to see the wonderful diversity of cacti & other succulents on display! Have a great day and best wishes to you from out of my cactus & succulent greenhouse in Germany!! 🌵🌵🌵👍😊😎
So cool! Getting into houseplants in general lately and the community seems so wonderful. Dr. Ivan Black spoke with such passion and love for the hobby at the end of the video that you can’t help but want to be a part of that!
Wow, so many interesting and beautiful succulents and cacti. I live in a really small town with only 2 plant shops, I really wish we had a little plant community here.
Thank you so much Summer! This was awesome and so much fun. Yea had a friend years and years ago in Oklahoma she had a nursery and specialized in cacti and succulents it was so awesome!!! I was young and she inspired me! Dr. Black I would love to go to Mexico with you and collect 🌵!!
Awesome! Would love to show some of my rare succulents one day (Dendrosicyos socotrana, Dorstenias, Boojum trees, Baobab trees, etc) I hardly ever see these shown at other shows & sales....
It’s interesting how the lophocereus schottii monstrose is considered rare in NY. Here in AZ they’re everywhere. I got a 4ft tall one for $30 at a local nursery!
confusing to see a totem pole cactus considered rare. They are very common and a gallon plant for $12 at one of our main cactus nurseries in Tucson. They sell hundreds of them. In the ground here, in 2 years with watering they can already be 5-6' tall, growing as much as 2' in a season. 1'/yr is easy. I saw way cooler plants in the video that are considerably more rare. Visit Tucson for some great cacti. Traveling all over Mexico you must have found many spectacular plants. It was just a flash by, but I think I saw a boojum tree in the video. Tucson is a great place to retire. If you love growing cacti and want to remain in the USA, hard to beat. And it is not as hot at you think. Only a while, and AC works as do our swimming pools. Paradise in fall and winter months.
Guilty. I have built the ultimate garden and the ultimate anti 5g room, its 3x3 and its like, everyday, how did i get this ?. Its so comfy, its, yeah, lucky me. Im building a polytunnel 20 x 3, Eden project 2. Im so happy i could burn down a tower. Giving food away. Everything is covered now, chicken poop and horse manure over the winter. My community, it wont be long before i accept responsibilities. Self employed construction worker. Love it. x.
I was so excited to watch the video as I'm a lover of Cactus but disappointed so much time on interviews. Also the camera moved so fast , not enough time to enjoy it. Thanks anyway.
Hallo Summer and my fellow plant parents/owners i just posted a new vlog about my indoor plant hope you do watch for support and feel free to correct me♥️thank you in advance

So nice to see cacti and succulents. So many cool ones. If I had more sun, I would def get more!
Can always try grow lights :) LED tech has come a long way and you can fit them in regular lamp fixtures.

Hi, summer, awesome video.
The varieties are all so beautiful! It would be cool to learn more about how they’re grown from seed :)

Only takes 2 people to start making a community! Approach the plant shops to do some community events together!
@@summerrayneoakes True! I will definitely try that, thank you for the advice!
