V convert ac to dc because ac wave is a sinusoidal waveform and it is already complex , making any changes in the ac waveform will obvioisly make it more complex and time consuming.
On the other hand , DC wave is a straight line waveform so it becomes much easier to make any changes to varry the frequency.
So , VFD first rectifies AC to DC and then it inverts DC to AC after frequency conversion.

Or generator ke jalne ke chance islye bad jate hai. Kyuki bataya jata hai ki jb kabhi hm Unbalance load ko chlate hai to isse hmare generator pr stress kafi bad jata hai.
