I personally use radio to ask if I may bump and do it only in safe places or if they prefer it. But I appreciate others bump drafting me. If I feel intimidated I can always take right/left, let them go ahead and use their slipstream later. And people usually keep bigger space before the braking points… You did not like drafting and worried about your braking preference but did not allow them to pass, Allowing people to pass was the biggest driver to get into 2k+ iRating… Good content and good commentary, pleasure to watch.
One bit of advice I would give is to try and choose when you would like to pass. Its not always an option but if you have the option to choose there are better places to pass than others. Example @9:00 you pass both the GR86 and MX5 into the bus stop and get a bad exit leaving you vulnerable down the straight into turn 1. Even with a good exit they would have had the draft on you. They then easily got back passed you and then you were racing them into turn 1. If you had waited until after the bus stop you would have had the slipstream down the main straight and could have made an easy move before turn 1 with little chance for them to take back the position due to the in field section.
Strategy is an overlooked part of racing, you're right it's not just who can turn the fastest laps when it comes to racing. I do try to think about when to pass but in the heat of the moment sometimes the strategy goes out the window...
@@pitbitsdave Yeah it is hard in the heat of the moment to think tactically especially if its your first opportunity to pass after being behind for a few laps. Agreed its not always the fastest that wins. I've had a lot of races where I have won because someone faster spun or got into an accident. There is an art to avoiding mistakes and accidents in racing just like strategy that all comes into play.
Been enjoying watching your videos for a few weeks now, thanks! Daytona multiclass is always a recipe for disaster, especially with slower cars where drafting is so important. It's quite easy to get caught up in a battle in your own class only for it to end in tears when a faster car tries to come through.
I've sent you a friend request on iracing, happy to do some practise with you to point out little things that will help you. I'm not particularly fast but I have a fair understating of what makes you fast, just not always good at putting it into practise 😂
Thanks Quentin, i've not been on at all this week yet as work has been busy. I will have a look Friday afternoon, i've never had a friend request so will need to find where it is first!
@pitbitsdave apparently it's not obvious but as long as you know it's there, you'll be able to find it! I've only ever added other people 😂 I'm away until probably Weds or Thurs next week anyway
Fun times with the MX5, though next time be careful when rejoining, and joining in the racing line is even more dangerous, both for you but also for other people, that you ended up taking out with that rejoin. I mean no hate and I have been enjoying your videos since the beginning and I’ve raced with you before, just trying to help because we have to put ourselves in others perspectives. Fun race overall though!
Thanks for the tips, I thought I was far enough off the racing line but with the closing speed of the BMWs they didn't have much time to take avoiding action
I found it very off putting when I first had it on but now it doesn't bother me at all. On some of the oval races its very helpful when people are moving round and drafting, so it would be better if more people used it.
Yeah working on your trail breaking is gonna massively help you. Hold the trail longer. Just having 10 % braking late in a tight corner will help you hug the apex and get on the throttle earlier. Itl also help you brake later as you won't need to slow down early to get around the corner. Check out suellio almeidas coaching videos. He does a good job
I think the final bump at 3min15 was unintentional - should have backed off before the braking zone, but was distracted by the Toyota (?) Agree with your "racing incident" for your spin. You were sliding a little and would have recovered - he was sneaking through and had left you room, but both things simultaneously.... you were both a bit unlucky. Real shame the BMW then clipped you. I'm enjoying your vids, but I often don't have time to watch a full race, and find I then skip sections.

Thanks for the tips, it's something I need to get better at, and I'm glad you like the videos.

Thanks for joining us, I really appreciate it. I like multi class as it adds another dimension to the racing...

Question: do you find the other drivers voice chat annoying, off-putting or helpful?

I think ive watched his videos before. Like most things, I understand the theory, its just putting it into practice thats the challenge

Glad you like the videos, I know not everyone has time to watch the longer races, so feel free to skip away :)
You don’t know what trailbraking is? SMH.
Not sure what you mean?
